A man catcher, also known as catchpole,[1] is an esoteric type of pole weapon which was used in Europe as late as the 18th century.[citation needed] It consisted of a pole mounted with a two pronged head. Each prong was semi-circular in shape with a spring-loaded "door" on the front. This created an effective valve that would allow the ring to pass around a man-sized cylinder and keep it trapped
Violet could have sworn the two had done this before. She was sitting on the bed and Viox was throwing her clothes all over the room. Though the odd part was this time she was in the living room with Albedo and Klee, while Viox was packing her trunk. Albedo was carefully folding Viox's clothes as Klee was drawing on some paper. Viox was looking over her books for the ones on Ice Golems and Chalk ones.
"Albedo, did you think the Chalk was handmade or pure?" Viox called from her bookshelf.
"I believe it was pure. Handmade chalk has the ability to be impure and unuseful." Albedo replied back as he folded and put away another item of clothing.
"So leave this book." Viox muttered out, sliding a book back into place.
Violet crossed her arms, "Why was I needed again?"
"Because you're my sister and I want to spend time with you tonight before I leave in the morning tomorrow." Viox chuckled, pulling a different book down and giving it a quick look over
Violet rolled her eyes, "You'll just be up in Dragonspine, It's only a day trip away. I can come visit."
"But Mondstadt here needs you first. You know that. Plus, when have you ever trusted Kaeya to take care of things by himself?"
"Fair point."
Soon the home settled into a comfortable silence. Albedo had reached over to help Klee mix some colors together before he went back to folding and placing the clothes away in the trunk. Viox busied herself with a few items to look over, she had even opened a new notebook for the trip. Which Violet found a little odd, but she understood that Viox had most likely filled her old notebook up with all her overly detailed notes.
"Viox?" Violet called
"Hm?"
"What's with the new notebook?" Violet asked, standing up from her spot and walking over to Viox's small desk that was tucked in the corner of the livingroom.
"Oh I filled the other one up. I had a few things come up as I was searching for the Golem type Albedo was and after I had written down the issue, I had no more room for any more notes, but not to fear." She held up her new book, "I have plenty of room in this one. In fact my newest theory has something to do with Dragonspine in general, so Ill not only be studying Albedo, but the mountain's history itself."
Violet was impressed, "What's this new theory?"
"Durin."
"Durin? The dragon Baratos fought during the Archon war?"
"The very same. I have a feeling that Albedo has some part of the Dragon within him." Viox smiled, pulling out her old notebook, "Five hundred years ago, during the Archon War as we know it by, Durin emerged in Mondstadt and caused much devastation. Hearing the pleas of his people, Barbatos awoke and summoned Dvalin to come to their aid. Barbatos and Dvalin fought together against Durin, luring him over the perpetually-snowy mountain of Vindagnyr. Dvalin ultimately managed to land a decisive blow by piercing Durin's neck with his fangs, and Durin was sent plummeting to the ground." Viox read off her page, "But from other stories we can recall that Durin didn't die right away. See with the amount of magical energies that had gathered, someone had been there when the Dragon gave its last dying breath."
"Who was that?" Violet asked
"I believe it was Rhinedottir." Viox sighed, "Though I may be wrong. Albedo was created when Durin was alive, so it's near impossible to assume that some of Durin is inside him. Yet." Viox paused, her mind flashed to the story Xiao had told her about Primordial and Cretaceus. Primordial was fed to Durin before the battle had taken place.
"The universe is a dark essence of the true starry sky, and the earth is the accumulated memories of the time and lives. The Chalk: that is you, Cretaceus. The earth is where alchemy gets its name, and is the base of all life…and this…this is new birth."
Xiao's words echoed in Viox's mind as she stood up, "That's it." She whispered.
Violet stared at her sister with confusion, "What is?"
"Albedo is made from Chalk. Her words!" Viox turned and looked at Albedo, who had looked over as his name had been said
Albedo stood up, walking over to the other, "Chalk?" He questioned
"Albedo you are Chalk! You are the base! When a new birth happens in Alchemy the final step is Albedo! Why didn't I think about this before?!" Viox exclaimed
It was as if a switch went off in Albedo's mind, "Chalk…the purest form of any material, the base of all creation, the base of all life." He cupped his chin, thinking, "Earth is where Alchemy gets its name, and when fused with another material you get a being that lives and breathes. A Golem."
Viox grinned, "Albedo, we need to research this immediately! How quickly can we get to Dragonspine?"
"About a day but if we take Horses up till the Research Base Camp, we can make it in less than that. Klee, are you already packed?" He asked
Klee nodded, "I am! Are we leaving tonight?" She asked, sitting up from her artwork
"We very well might." Albedo replied, "Viox suit up for travel, we'll spend the night at the Base. Klee, you too, get ready to head out. I'll get the horses." He said as he headed out of the home.
"Listen I know he has the most dull tone whenever he talks, but boy did he sound commanding right then." Violet joked lightly
Viox rolled her eyes, "Sometimes I wonder how we shared a womb."
"For your information, it was my place first before you crashed it!"
"You only say that because you were born first."
"What does womb mean?" Klee asked
Viox and Violet both froze, looking down at the younger
"You'll find out when you're older." Violet replied quickly
