I awoke with a start and a sore neck. "Wow, you weren't kidding. She can fall asleep anywhere."

"Give her a break, she's been sneaking out of the tower the past three nights, only she won't tell me where or why," said a second voice.

I wiped the sleep from my eyes and sat forward, rubbing the back of my neck. Sitting up straight, it took a moment for my eyes to adjust because I was outside under the warm sun. That was odd, because I was sure it was supposed to be winter and nighttime.

"Hey." The owner of the second voice snapped her fingers, and I jumped. I felt foggy, like I was swimming through glue. "Are you not going to acknowledge that?"

"I'm sorry, I…" I trailed off, taking in my surroundings. We weren't just outside; we were in a big stadium. It wasn't an ordinary sports stadium, but it wasn't just the people flying around on broomsticks that gave it away.

I stood up and walked down to the railing to get a better look. Three hoops on either end of the ground, people flying on brooms while throwing balls at each other… Was this a quidditch pitch? But how would this be possible, other than this all being a dream?

I spun around to the people I was with, my heart pounding with panic. There was a boy and a girl, both hunched over some papers and books. They were watching me with curiosity. "You wouldn't happen to know where I am, would you?"

I figured how the question would sound: undoubtedly weird. It was clear to me that since I woke up here, then I must be from here. But I knew I wasn't, and it didn't feel like I should've been here either.

The girl scoffed, "You're joking, Lia." Her voice was incredulous, and she slammed her book down on the empty seat next to her.

Lia: At least my name was the same. "No? I don't… I don't think I know where I am."

"Well that's strange," said the boy, closing his book to look at me.

"Oh c'mon, Remus. Amnesia? You're not believing this, are you? It's obviously a prank." The girl was smiling like this was all some kind of joke, and she wouldn't fall for anything that was coming out of my mouth.

"I'm not saying I have amnesia," I said, growing frustrated and wanting to cry. "I just don't know where I am or how I got here."

"Do you know who we are?" the boy asked. His eyes studied me, but I wasn't sure what he was hoping to find.

I shook my head, blinking at tears. I didn't know anything, and I didn't know how to get that through to them. I could tell my tears surprised them. The girl moved to stand up, but there was a shout from behind me and everything went black.

"Do you take all your girls into the Forbidden Forest at midnight, or just me?" My laughter rang throughout the quiet night.

"No, I take the others to the top of the astronomy tower." His voice was low, but I could hear the smirk grow on his lips.

"Oh really? That's kinda predictable, don't you think?" I wasn't sure where we were going, but adrenaline was pumping through my body. Coming into the forest at night couldn't have been a smart idea, but I couldn't say no to him.

He grabbed my wrist and pulled me to a stop. I felt his breath on the back of my neck; my breath quickened. "Was coming out here predictable?"

I turned around, blushing at how close we were. "No, but this was the one place James wouldn't look on the magic map you guys have, right?"

When he didn't say anything, I laughed again.

"Well can you blame me? He'd kill me if he knew what we're doing." He wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me into him.

I giggled and hid my face in his chest. "Sirius!"

When I woke up this time, I had a head-splitting headache. My eyes were shut, but the little light that was shining through my eyelids made it worse. I groaned and rolled over onto my side and shoved my face into my pillow. I didn't remember what I did to get a headache, but I should start going to bed earlier and not stay up reading.

"Do you think she's waking up?"

"Looks like she's trying to suffocate herself."

"Please shut up," I mumbled. Then I sat up, not recognizing the voices.

I wasn't in my bed or my room. I was in one of many beds with white sheets and a thin blanket. The other beds were all empty except for the one across from me. A boy was sitting at the end of the bed, his eyes watching me. I knew I had never seen him before in my life, but he felt so familiar.

A new face popped up in front of me. A boy with messy black hair and hazel eyes filled with concern. "Ophie! You scared me." He wrapped his arms around me, but I sat there, paralyzed. It wasn't everyday that a stranger knew your name and then proceeded to hug you as if you've known each other for years.

It wasn't everyday you woke up in an unfamiliar place with no knowledge of how you got there.

The boy pulled away when I didn't hug him back. A frown tugged the corner of his lips down as he stared at me. "When Remus told me that you couldn't remember anything, I was worried," the boy was saying, and I perked up at the mention of 'Remus.'

"And then the Bludger just totally went off course…" The boy continued to talk, but I felt like I was spiraling.

"Remus? As in Remus Lupin?" I asked, cutting him off.

His eyes lit up. "Yeah! Do you remember him? Do you remember me?"

I studied the boy in front of me. The hair, the eyes… It all should've been obvious. "James Potter." Then I turned to the boy on the bed. That had to be Sirius Black.

I buried my face in James' shoulder and laughed. Of course! I was dreaming. James started to laugh with me, and pulled away but kept his hands on my shoulders. "What's so funny?"

I was laughing too hard, the pounding in my head growing, but I couldn't stop. I never had a dream like this before. Everything felt so real: the weight of James' hands on my shoulders; his breath fanning onto my face; the pain throbbing at the back of my head.

"I was freaking out for nothing."

"What were you freaking out for?" James' face was red now from laughing so hard.

I was laughing so hard tears were falling from my eyes. "This is all a dream!"

James stopped laughing. Sirius moved from his bed to mine. "Maybe I should go get Madam Pomfrey."

But he didn't have to as the woman herself bustled in from a back room. "I knew leaving you two boys in here alone would cause a disruption! Now I know—" She stopped mid-stride. "Are you feeling better Ms. Potter?"

"Me?" I asked.

James rubbed his hands down his face. Sirius stood up. "No she's not," he said, his voice edging onto accusatory. "She can't remember a thing, and she thinks she's dreaming."

"I am dreaming," I protested. "How else would you explain it?"

"You think you're dreaming, Ms. Potter?"

"How else would this all make sense?" I asked with a shrug. "And you keep calling me Ms. Potter; does that mean we're related, James?"

Sirius crossed the room to Madam Pomfrey. "Could this be from the Bludger? Like a head injury or something? Is it temporary?"

She waved her hand like this was nonsense. "I fixed her cracked skull as soon as she came in, as well as everything else. She's not experiencing anymore pain, are you Ms. Potter?"

And just like that, the throbbing in my head returned. Or maybe I was trying to ignore it. If I was feeling pain then this wasn't a dream and I wouldn't know what was happening. I couldn't be here; it was literally impossible.

But I was here. I didn't know how or why.

I grabbed my head. "Oh no," I muttered. "Oh no, no no no. My head hurts." I looked at Madam Pomfrey as panic started to rise in my chest.

"Simple fix, my girl. No need to make a fuss."

I looked down at my hands. They were shaking. I felt for my pulse, and felt sick to my stomach when I found one. I wasn't dreaming. Tears blurred my vision and I buried my face in my hands as I cried. What was I doing here? How was I going to get back? …Did I even want to go back?

"Hey." Hands gently brought my arms away from my face and James was smiling softly at me. "Hey, it's going to be okay, Ophie. We'll figure this out together, and get your memories back."

I nodded, wiping my tears. However, I wasn't sure if this was a case of amnesia. I knew who I was. I knew what I was doing before this. I knew where I was supposed to be. I wasn't the Ophelia they thought they knew.

Hello! I haven't written or read any fanfiction for years, but I've had this idea for a while. And since I'm rereading the series and in a writing slump, I figured why not? Let me take a break from my other books, and hopefully it'll help me move forward. I'm excited ti be writing this, and I hope you all like it as much I do.
