This story isn't canon in my Toad universe. I don't own A Series of Unfortunate Events. Lemony Snicket, Nickelodeon and Netflix do.

Toad and his sister Toadette sat in the middle of the foyer of their home; Princess Peach's Castle.

The two had been playing with each other all day, as well as with Toad's four adopted baby brothers; the Toad Brothers.

"Ugh," said Toad.

"I'm hungry," he added.

"Let's go find Mommy and ask her what's for dinner!" said Toadette.

"Great idea!" said Toad, who along with Toadette stood up and headed for the stairs.

Just as they did, the doorbell rang.

Toad and Toadette curiously walked over to the door.

When they opened it, they saw a man dressed in a yellow coat, with dark hair and wearing glasses.

"Hi," said Toad.

"May we help you?" said Toadette.

"Hello!" said the man.

"I am looking for Princess Peach of the Mushroom Kingdom," he added.

Toad became nervous over hearing the man say Peach's name.

At that moment, Princess Peach had walked down the stairs from her room and into the foyer.

She walked down the stairs and towards the door to see who was there.

"Good afternoon," said Peach.

"May I help you?" she asked.

"Good afternoon, Princess," said the man.

"I am, uh, Stefano, I am an Italian man, and, uh, I am here to assist you in your, uh, regin, uh, as best as I can, as well as to, uh, facilitate and, uh, remain observatory."

Princess Peach wasn't fooled for even a second.

"You're Count Olaf," said Peach.

Count Olaf was a greedy, despicable man who tried to steal the Baudelaire Fortune after a terrible fire destroyed their mansion.

After failing to do this, he turned his attention to something almost as despicable: taking over the Mushroom Kingdom.

He had nearly succeeded in his first try, destroying Peach's Castle in a fire, and colluding with Bowser to kidnap Peach as well as Mario and Luigi, not to mention Princess Daisy.

As a result of the fire, Toad, Toadette and the Toad Brothers temporarily became orphans, and were sent to live with their "Cousin" Wario, an enemy of Mario.

There was a brief silence after Peach declared Stefano to be Olaf.

"Oh," said Stefano.

"Now, why would you, why would you say something like that? I, uh, I have never, uh, met, uh, such a person as a Count Olaf, but, uh, if I had, I'm sure he would look and sound completely diffe-"

Before he could finish, Peach punched him in the face, causing him to fall backwards and land on the ground.

Toadsworth, having noticed this, ran over to the front door.

"Princess! Why would you hurt this poor man?" asked Toadsworth.

"Because," Peach said, "He's-"

Toadsworth quickly interrupted her.

"Forgive me," said Toadsworth, as he ran out the door towards Stefano.

"No worries, uh, Mr, uh," said Stefano.

"Toadsworth," said Toadsworth.

"Thank you, sir!" said Stefano.

Stefano walked into the castle, to the fear of Peach, Toad and Toadette.

"Mommy, what are we going to do?" asked Toad.

"Don't worry, Toad," said Peach.

"I'll think of something."

Toadsworth and Stefano walked to the right of the foyer of the castle.

"Thank you so much for coming, Stefano," said Toadsworth.

"No worries," said Stefano.

"My chief assistant; The Toad Minister, got sick and told me to find a replacement for today," said Toadsworth.

"He'd give anything to be here right now," said Stefano.

The unfortunate events that happened to The Toad Minister, one of Peach's longtime advisers up until he resigned, won't be mentioned here.

"Good for you for being available," said Toadsworth.

"Well, I am, uh, I am a fan, if I may gush," said Stefano.

"Uh, your work has profoundly influenced my research on the Mushroom Kingdom and it's government," he added.

While this was going on, The Toad Brothers had come out from the door at the top of the stairs.

They were surprised to see Stefano talking with Toadsworth and quickly ran down the stairs to their adopted mother.

"Princess, who is this?" asked Blue Toad.

Stefano, having heard this, turned around to face Blue Toad.

"I am Stefano!" said Stefano.

"He's lying!" said Peach.

"He's Count Olaf!" she added.

The Toad Brothers gasped.

"Who?" asked Stefano.

"Don't play games," said Peach.

"I'm not impressed with your disguise." she added.

"I have no idea what you're talking about," said Stefano.

"Of course I do!" said Peach.

Before she could continue, Toadsworth interrupted.

"Excuse me, Stefano," he said.

"Would you like to stay for dinner?" he asked.

"NO!" said Peach.

"Why of course," said Stefano.

A few minutes later, everyone sat at the dinner table.

Toad was afraid to eat his dinner, as were his sister and his brothers.

Peach wasn't as fearful, but she was still worried about Stefano's presence.

"Why don't you stay for the night?" asked Toadsworth.

"Toadsworth!" said Peach.

"I think that is a great idea!" said Stefano.

At that moment, Stefano stood up.

"Excuse me," he said.

"I need to go to the bathroom," he added.

Stefano left the room, and Peach walked over to Toadsworth.

"Toadsworth, this man is Count Olaf!" she said.

"I'm sorry, who?" asked Toadsworth.

"The man who captured me and Daisy when the castle burned down, and then you sent Toad and his siblings to live with Wario," said Peach.

Toadsworth scoffed.

"I have no idea who this Count Olaf is," said Toadsworth.

"Toadsworth," pleaded Peach.

"Please listen to me!" she added.

At that moment, Stefano walked back into the room.

"Darn, all finished," said Stefano.

"I was so looking forward to desert."

Stefano looked over to the clock on the wall.

"Isn't it about time you babies went to bed?" he asked.

"Absolutely!" said Toadsworth.

"Early start tomorrow. Off you lads go! Night-night!"

Toad and his siblings walked out of the room in fear.

The fact that Stefano knew that Toad and his siblings were babies was more than enough proof that Stefano was indeed Count Olaf.

Toad and his siblings got little sleep. They were afraid that Olaf was going to do something.

The next morning, Toad and his siblings woke up to discover that Olaf had indeed done something.

They walked downstairs and into the foyer to see the iconic pink dress of Princess Peach.

Toad and his siblings ran up to the dress.

"Mommy!" said Toad as he and his siblings looked at the dress, with tears in their eyes.

It is a curious thing, the death of a loved one.

It's like walking up the stairs to your bedroom in the dark, or in this case, walking down the stairs to the foyer in the light, and thinking that there's one more stair than there is.

Your foot falls down through the air, and there's a sickly moment of dark surprise.

Toad and his siblings were not only grieving for their mother, but for the tender hope that they may have been free of evil.

A hope, that thanks to a villainous actor, was now slowly tumbling away.

Several minutes later, Stefano and Toadsworth emerged to look at the dress.

"I do feel somewhat responsible for this tragedy," said Stefano.

"I should have taken it upon myself to warn the Princess that the Apple Pie we had last night is very poisonous," he said.

"What?!" said Toadette.

"It's definitely poison, there's no question about it," said a man with a top hat.

"Poison, no question about it. Thanks, Doc!" said Stefano.

"No, there's been a mistake" said Toadette.

"I watched Mommy cook that Apple Pie. There was no poison whatsoever!" she added.

Stefano looked at Toadette, then at Toadsworth.

"I think it's for the best that these mushrooms come with me," said Stefano.

Toad took offense to being called a mushroom, another sign that he knew Stefano was Count Olaf.

"We aren't mushrooms!" said Toad, taking his hat off.

"Toadsworth, this man is Count Olaf!" said Toadette.

"He burned our castle down!" said Toad.

"And where would this man get the resources to burn the castle down?" asked Toadsworth.

"Where am I going to get the resources to burn the castle down?" asked Stefano.

"Lads, that's enough of this foolishness. Mr. Stefano bears absolutely no resemblance to Count Olaf," said Toadsworth.

"Who is his incredibly handsome Count Olaf they keep speaking of?" asked Stefano.

"No idea," said Toadsworth.

"What about the image?" asked Toad.

"Yeah, Count Olaf has a tattoo of an eye on his ankle!" said Toadette.

Anything for the kids!" said Stefano, who pulled up the sleeve of his pantleg to reveal a leg with no tattoo.

"Viola! Spick and span!" said Stefano.

Toad and his siblings stood in shock.

"Mr. Toadsworth, I'll just be escorting these young mushrooms to the vehicle," said Stefano.

Just as Stefano could pick up Toad, a voice was heard.

"Get away from my baby!" yelled the voice.

The voice came from a women dressed in a nightgown.

It was the voice of Princess Peach, alive and well, not feeling effects from any poison at all.

"Mommy!" cried Toad, as he and his siblings ran up the stairs to hug their mother.

"Darn it," said Stefano.

"This was such a good character."

Stefano and his assistant then ran out the door of the castle while they had the chance to escape.

Toadsworth, realizing that Stefano had escaped, figured out that the man he was entertaining and becoming friends with, was in fact Count Olaf.

Before he could say anything, Peach ran up to Toadsworth, knelled down and slapped him across the face.

"YOU INCOMPETENT ASSISTANT!" said Peach.

"Princess! I didn't know!" said Toadsworth.

"My babies and I tried to tell you, but did you listen?" screamed Peach.

"As of this moment, you are suspended as my assistant! Pack your things and leave! I will discuss your job when the time is appropriate!" said Peach.

Toadsworth walked slowly up the stairs to his room and packed his things.

He departed the castle soon after, and headed for the Mushroom Kingdom Government Building.

He was eventually reinstated as Peach's assistant weeks later.

"Mommy? Is Count Olaf going to find us again?" asked Toad.

"I don't know, Toad," said Peach.

"However, if he tries to find us, I won't let him take us down without a fight."

Peach then tucked in Toad and his siblings in their beds and headed to her room.

She then got into her bed, turned off the lights and headed to sleep, leaving the thought of Count Olaf, or in this case - "Stefano" - far behind.
