Annoyingly to the group or more precisely Will they didn't get to see Warren again until this Said assembly since the older boy didn't have the same classes as them after lunch you know being a year older then the group.
At the end of their second to last class period. An announcement came over the speakers.
"Attention students and faculty, Mae all junior and senior's please make your way to the assembly hall."
When will, Layla and the others got to the assembly hall they found seats saving one for Warren. When the older teen finally arrived he joined them and slouch in the chair in between Layla and will.
Up on the stage principle Powers was standing with the lady from the courtyard who had fall over Warren the group noticed. Well shot warrant a look and then looked back up on stage as principle Powers began speaking.
"Good afternoon students." The principal motioned with her hand towards the other woman. " I would like to introduce to you your speaker, miss. lkuai lie bao."
The students clapped and as they did well leaned over to Warren and asked.
"Isn't that Chinese? And what does it mean?" Warren rolled his eyes but answered loud enough so the rest of the group could hear him as well.
" it means fast cheetah." Well sat back up and focused on the speaker.
"Good afternoon students." The speaker was the Asian lady who had tackled Warren to the ground earlier, his friend shot him a look he ignored them.
She looked out onto the students and behind her a picture of a beautiful dark-haired woman in blue and gold appeared on the screen.
"Can anybody tell me who this is?" She asked. The room was silent.
The speaker smiled as she said;
"Her name is timestream, And she went to sky high around the same time as the commander and jet stream." Will shot another look at Warren from the corner of his eye.
Another picture appeared on the screen that of a class photo. The group of students could see a younger
timestream and a younger girl who looked remarkably resemblance to the lady speaking to them.
"The girl that you see standing in this class photo next to timestream was her best friend Michele."
The picture changed once again.
A picture of a four year old dark-haired gap tooth little boy And A lady In the slight background to some people realize wise Michele appeared on the screen.
In the picture the boy was holding A car in one hand in a generic action figure in the other.
The lady smiled and she said; "A couple years after leaving school and be getting her superheroing she had a baby boy."
She let the room of students gays at the photo for a bit before speaking.
"And Michele became timestream sidekick. Yes I'm calling them sidekicks and not hero support." She rolled her eyes.
"The girls name was quickstep, and quickstep was a very special person in her heroe's life."
The lady tuck a couple steps around the stage.
"Can anyone tell me what was one of the most cherished jobs of a sidekick that not many people even are aware of?" She asked.
There was a lot of fidgeting and throat clearing and deafening silence before someone in the mitts of the crowd of students spoke up.
Everybody turned towards the speaker but only those who were right in the range knew exactly who was speaking.
The person's throat cleared before a soft but deep tenor ring through the hall.
"Let's say in the future that will and I were teammates, he's a hero and I a sidekick. And let's say that he and his wife ' cause we all know he's gonna get married have a kid. Let's say sometime down the line Wells wife dies or gets thrown in jail or whatever and then he dies there's no one there to take care of the kid. That's where the sidekick comes in." He blinked in swallowed, but only will and Layla who were sitting next to him on either side noticed.
He took a deep breath and continued.
"The sidekick would bring the child into their home and raised them until a certain age where they felt that their partner's child could take care and watch over themselves." He gulped.
"And then the sidekick would help get the child get set up like with there own apartment in or a job and get them set up. Doesn't mean that they're not going to be a part of that child's life like with school or medical emergencies. They basically kind of become like a foster parent." Warren said. Layla and Will shared a look behind Warren's back.
"correct Mr. Peace." The speaker said as she change the picture on the screen.
Will and Layla who had it quite yet turned back to the speaker noticed as Warren smiled slightly. Curious. They turn to the screen.
It was another picture of the same little boy perhaps a few years older and also in the picture holding onto the boy was the lady who was speaking to them.
"When timestream died her partner quickstep took her son and raised him."
Another picture appeared on the screen of a slightly older boy who will and Layla sharing another look behind warrens back were shot to realize that they recognized.
They both shot one more glance at Warren who this time caught them and gave them one of his most 'don't fuck with me glares.'
Will and Layla realized that their thoughts and concerns were going to have to be put on the back burner. For now.
