This story is set in The Rookie Season 4 premiere after Jackson's death when Lucy stayed at Tim's apartment. In this scenario, Angela was found safe the day Jackson died.

Chapter 1:

Lucy walked into Tim's apartment still reeling over Jackson's death. She was grateful for Tim to let her stay here but she didn't know how she would ever walk into her own apartment again.

Suddenly, Tim's voice pulled her from her thoughts:

Tim: "You can stay in the bedroom, I'll take the couch."

Lucy: "No, I couldn't put you out of your own bed. I'll take the couch."

Tim: "Suit yourself." he paused and looked at her, he could tell she was holding in her emotions from the day. "Are you okay, Lucy?"

Lucy looked into Tim's eyes and took a step closer to him. "Do you think we could just forget everything, just for tonight?"

Tim felt her words heavily. Knowing he would regret his next choice he grabbed her by the arm, pulled her closer and as their eyes met he leaned closer and closed the gap that was between them.

Suddenly, the whole world went blank and all they focused on was each other.

- The next morning-

Lucy slowly awoke the next morning as the sunrise came through the window. She relished in the feeling on the warm body next to her as his chest rose and fell. As she woke fully, a sudden feeling of panic set in. Oh my god, what have I done? I slept with Tim. Things would never be the same again. Trying not to wake him, she quickly found her clothes and scattered from the apartment as quickly as possible, not realizing she left something behind. How would she be able to face him at the station later on?

As Tim awoke he felt the empty bed beside him. Calling out Lucy's name a couple times, it did not take him long to realize she had left. He sighed heavily. It was time to get out of bed and start the day. How would he face her? He had known he was in love with her since the day he pulled her out of that barrel, maybe even sooner. He never wanted to admit it to himself but last night changed everything for him. "She must not feel the same, that's why she ran out of here." he said to himself as he got dressed. Looking at himself in the mirror, he was dreading the day ahead.

- Later at the station-

Tim walked in the station to see Lucy and Nolan talking. Their eyes met for a quick second, he quickly looked away to find Grey waiting for him.

Grey: " Good morning Sergeant Bradford, are you ready for today's briefing?"

Tim: "Yes, sir. 100%. What's on the agenda for today?"

Grey: "A young girl went missing from her father's shop last night. The family is worried sick about her. We need to pool all of our resources to find her."

Tim: "Got it. We will get all the patrol units on it." Grey went to walk into the briefing room when Tim spoke again. "Hey Sarge, would it be okay if I switched things up today? Was thinking of riding with Nolan." Grey raised an eyebrow to him and couldn't wipe the smirk off his face. As he laughed he said "Go for it, I sure won't be."

All the officers gathered into the briefing room, Lucy took her normal spot next to Nolan. She couldn't stop thinking about last night. How nice it was to be so close to him. "Pull it together Lucy." She told herself as she tried to listen to the sergeant. Once Tim announced the shift Lucy's eyes instantly widened. She looked up at him and could see his body instantly tense.

Nolan: "What's that all about?"

Lucy: "I'm not sure"

Not being about to wipe the distraught look off her face she headed to get the war bags and start her day.

Police Radio: "All units be advised, the woman has now been missing for 9 hours. Be on the lookout."

Lucy patrolled the areas around where the girl was last seen. She couldn't help the unresolved feelings it brought back of her own kidnapping. That feeling of hopelessness, what felt like endless waiting to be rescued. She felt the bile rising in her throat as she placed her hand over where he had marked her. How was she supposed to get through this case. All she wanted to do was call Tim. He calmed her. After everything they have been through, how could she have messed up the friendship they had? She pulled out her phone to call him and stared at the screen for far too long. Sighing heavily, she put the phone back in her pocket, hoping for an excuse to talk to him.

Police Radio: "All units be advised, a civilian matching the girls description was just seen passing the Mini Mart on Lake St in a blue sedan. Sedan was reported stolen yesterday."

That was two blocks from her, Lucy flashed her sirens and headed that way.

Tim was on his way to the Mini Mart with Nolan when he got a call from Sargeant Grey.

Tim answered his phone: "Bradford"

Grey: "Tim, we just got word that Rosiland escaped from the prison. We don't know how she managed it but she is nowhere to be found."

Tim: "Do you think she is connected to the girl's kidnapping?"

Grey: "We don't know yet but be careful out there. I will be announcing it shortly."

Tim: "Got it, thanks for the heads up."

Tim looked over at Nolan in the passenger seat; " We have a problem."

Nolan: "What happened?"

Tim: Rosiland escaped, they don't know how but she might have a connection with the missing girl."

Nolan: "Does Lucy know?"

Tim: "Not yet. I'm hoping she doesn't find out."

Tim and Nolan arrived at the scene of the Mini Mart to see Lucy's shop flashing out front.

Tim: "Officer Chen, any news?"

Lucy: "Store owner said the girl came in and used the restroom and left. They said she was alone from what they could tell."

Tim: "Thank you Officer Chen. Nolan, go do a perimeter search and look for any clues."

Nolan: "Yes, Sir"

As Nolan walked away, the tension in the air crept in. Lucy stared down at her feet as Tim stood there trying to read her body language.

Tim started fidgeting: "So, uh, we should probably talk."

Lucy didn't look up at him: "Don't worry, there is nothing to talk about."

-Back at the Precinct later on-

Lucy stood in the locker room after getting changed. She couldn't stop thinking about the girl that was missing. Would they find her in time? She knew the detectives were working overnight to continue looking. Something still didn't sit right with her. Ever since they got back everyone had been acting strange around her. They were giving her the same look she got the day she returned to work after her kidnapping. Something was going on and she was determined to get the bottom of it. She looked around the precinct for the one person who would tell her the truth, Angela.

Lucy: "Hey Angela, do you have a second?'

Angela: "Sure, what's up?'

Lucy: "Am I missing something? Everyone has been acting strange every since I got back from patrol. I'm probably overthinking things."

Angela: "Tim didn't tell you?"

Lucy's body language changed as soon as she heard his name, her look of concern growing. "Told me what?"

Angela: "Rosiland escaped from prison earlier this morning, they think she is connected with the kidnapping of the young girl. The timeline matches from when she went missing. They can't figure out how she got out or if she has any connection yet. I'm shocked Tim didn't tell you."

Almost immediately Lucy felt the bile rising in her throat from hearing her name. She bolted to the bathroom and released all of the contents of her stomach. Why now? Why did she escape now? All of the flashbacks from her kidnapping came in like a wrecking ball. She NEEDED to get out here. But more importantly, she needed Tim.
