Chapter Six
Every body turned and looked at Jason.
"Uh how can you help with that?" asked Stevie
"I'll show you," said Jason, "But you have to promise never to tell anyone else!"
He turned to Lisa
"And that especially means that blabbermouth sister of yours!" he said pointedly
"Don't worry," said Lisa, "I know better than to tell her anything."
The others swore themselves to secrecy.
"Now what's this way you can help?" asked Ashe
To the astonishment of everyone in the room Jason teleported across the room.
"That's how." Said Jason rubbing the back of his neck
"You can teleport?!" cried Lisa, "how long have you had this ability?"
"All my life," said Jason, "I was born with it I'm also telekinetic and I have some telepathic ability."
"and you never told me?!" asked Lisa, "Why?"
"I didn't want you to be afraid of me." Replied Jason
Lisa got up and gave Jason a hug.
"That could never happen." She said with a smile. Then a look of realization came over her face.
"at camp," said Lisa, "That was how you got that huge Italian feast for us without any of the other campers finding out!"
Jason grinned and nodded.
"Yep." He said, "Now back to the Matter at hand."
"Yeah," said Stevie, "We need to pay a visit to that Warehouse."
"Right," said Jason, "And I can teleport us inside."
"Alright," said Stevie, "Everybody get a flashlight and put on some dark clothes. Then meet back here after dark."
The others nodded and headed out.
A few hours later, just after sundown everyone assembled at the lounge. They all joined hands. Jason closed his eyes and concentrated. And in a silver electric flash of light. they all disappeared.
Instantly they rematerialized inside the Warehouse. The warehouse was huge. It was lined with steel shelves that were piled with boxes and boxes of police cases, paperwork, and collected evidence.
"Okay," whispered Jason, "Everybody split up and start looking for the right box! Remember your looking for a case from three years ago with either the name Carmichael or Lake on it."
Each of the six kids all went in a separate direction and down a different aisle. The room was filled with flashlight beams moving along the boxes. Suddenly Ashe flagged down the others.
"I found it!"
The others hurried to where she was. Just as they got to her, they heard a key in the door!
"everybody, kill those flashlights!" hissed Jason. the flashlights went out and the room went dark. They huddled in the darkness as they listened to the guard's footsteps drawing closer. by the time he passed by their hiding place Lisa could swear his footsteps were as loud as thunder claps!
Finally, the guard turned and went back toward the door. the door opened and closed.
"Phew!" whispered Ashe, "That was close."
Then they heard voices outside the door.
"I was sure I heard something in there." one of the guards was saying.
"You were hearing things!" said the other guard, "No one ever comes down here."
Ashe grabbed the box, they all joined hands, and Jason teleported them back to Pine Hollow.
As soon as they arrived in the lounge they began going through the box. They found a ton of written reports and papers. Then at the bottom they found several evidence bags.
They spread everything out on the coffee table and began to go over it.
Jason read the police report.
"it says on the afternoon of the murder, that Matthew lake was heard having a loud argument with the victim. That that a few minutes later the supply room they had been in was found covered in blood stains. And Lydia Carmichael was never seen again."
"So, they never found the body?" said Ashe
"No," said Lisa who was looking over Jason's shoulder, "It seems they extrapolated murder out of the amount of blood spatter at the scene."
"Ashley," said Jason, "How fast can you get us in to see your dad? We need to hear his side of the story!"
"First thing in the morning." Said Ashe.
"Good," said Jason as he looked through the crime scene photos, and the other papers, "The sooner the better.
Something about this is bugging me, but I can't put my finger on it!"
