Hot Coco for Two

Summary: After the events of Lord of the Rink, Hugo and Sofia celebrate with a familiar warm drink. *Written for Sweethearts Day prompt one: Hot Chocolate/Chocolate.

It was a long day for Hugo and I. Now that we and the other girls managed to get all the boys down safely and practiced a few spins, Miss Flora invited us all inside for cups of hot chocolate.

I really appreciated being able to hold the warm drink in my gloved hands because I didn't know what I was thinking with my attire.

On the bright side, Hugo was getting along with King Garrick who seemed to still be surprised at the possibility of his son being in the ice dancing class.

I giggled at the thought, being surprised myself when Hugo pulled out my chair.

I don't know how he managed to do it but he somehow managed to find a table away from everyone else but it was the thought that counted as I sat down and placed my cup on the table.

"Hugo, I'm glad you reconsidered being in the class," I smiled warmly.

Hugo shrugged as he sat across from me. "It's better being here than in ice hockey."

I knew he was right as I took a sip of my hot chocolate. Ice hockey had proved to be nothing but misery for him.

I would've felt the same way being stuck to bleacher sit if Sir Gilliam had given me a firm no about being on the flying derby team. It made me grit my teeth just thinking about it.

"If it's alright with your parents Sofia, we can go back to your castle and practice there," Hugo suggested after taking a few sips of his hot chocolate.

I placed down my cup and smiled. "I'm super they'll allow it." Frowning, I tapped my fingertips against the table. "I'm just glad I didn't make a spectacle of myself out there."

"I don't think so. You were great out there."

"You're just being nice."

"No, I really mean it!" Hugo beamed. "Out of everyone, we got the most cheers and applause."

While that was true, I still had some self doubt about my abilities as if the healing bruises on my legs resulting from landing hard on the ice during practice were anything to come by.

Hugo squeezed my hand gently as if he saw my look of distress, feeling similar to how Clover patted my aching legs the night before with his paws.

Both felt equally as good.

Sure I usually had plenty of confidence when it came to school activities but ice dancing practice in general felt like I was transformed back into my timid self when I first arrived at the castle until Hugo came along.

With him, I felt that spark of confidence again.

I was about to thank him for his assurance when I giggled, seeing a hot chocolate mustache on his face.

"What's so funny?" Hugo wondered.

"The hot chocolate mustache on your face!" I giggled.

Hugo smiled in amusement. "Like you're one to talk!" He pointed to my upper lip and smirked. "You have one too, Sofia!"

We laughed at how silly we each looked and mimicked a few people that we knew had mustaches in the process before wiping them away.

As we got up from our seats and gave Miss Flora our cups to be magically cleaned, I shivered as I felt a cold draft coming from the back doorway.

"You sure you'll be fine in just that cloak?" Hugo questioned.

"I'm sure," I assured. "It's probably just James leaving the door open much to Dad's dismay and Amber's annoyance."

Sure enough it was as I could hear Dad gently scolding James for letting in the cold air before feeling Hugo turn me around to face him.

Giving me a quick kiss on the cheek, his face turned crimson as he scurried off towards King Garrick.

I looked back and giggled before joining my family with Amber beaming and Mom adjusting my cloak.

"Sofia, you and Hugo looked spectacular during the recital," Amber muttered as I sat down beside her. "You two should be ice dancing partners more often."

"I think we all can agree on that one Amber. Don't you think so Rollie?" Mom smiled.

Dad nodded while James looked annoyed with them mentioning Hugo in his presence.

I just smiled warmly for I had a feeling that I wasn't going to forget the time I spent with Hugo today any time soon.

No matter what anyone else thought of us being partners again in the near future.
