"Starly, use Wing Attack!" Ash's Starly went on the offense with his wings glowing white, flying towards Eevee.

"Counter with Double Kick!" At comperable speeds if slightly faster, the Evolution Pokemon jumped into the air and kicked each of the glowing wings. Even if the move couldn't do more than stalemate the superior move, Eevee's Eviolite kept her from taking too much damage.

"Clefairy, use Pound!" Obeying her owner, Clefairy proceeded to punch a boulder the size of itself, reducing it to pebbles. "Great effort!"

"We're all doing awesome!" Ash remarked, impressed with how everything is going.

"I'm so excited to face off against Roark later!" Trace laughed wholeheartedly. "Paul may have shown us a good performance with his Elekid, but I believe we can do even better!" Elaine rolled her eyes.

"Don't remind me of that jerk. The only reminder I need is to show Marill the love she needs." Suddenly, one of her Pokeballs opened up to their surprise when Marill came out, cheering with joy for Elaine.

"Aww, did you hear what I said? Come here you cutie." The girl stooped down to snuggle with her Pokemon, laughing as she hugged Clefairy as well, the three having a good heartfelt moment.

"It's great you're giving Marill something Paul never could." Ash told her. "Let's give this all we got!"

"Yeah!"

"No way! They couldn't have stolen it!" The scientists were baffled to see that one of their machines were stolen. The only thing left was just a giant hole in the ground.

"It must've been taken after everyone left. Everyone except... those three." Another scientist realized, leaving alone a purple haired woman, a blue haired man and a small scientist.

"What about the revived Pokemon?"

"They're all fine. There was no damage to them or the fossils in storage.

"We'd better get in touch with Officer Jenny right away." As they went to alert the authorities, Team Rocket were celebrating their successful thievery by sealing the Pokemon Restorer.

"Cheers!" The criminal trio downed glasses filled with champagne, before giving a satisfied sigh upon finishing them.

"Talk about being restored!" Jessie giggled.

"So to speak..." James added.

"Stealing the Fossil Restorer is going to restore our rep!" Meowth assured. "Okay, let's fill fossils in there till its full!"

"It's like putting money in the bank! James, show us the first one." However, this confused the blue haired lad.

"Meowth has them."

"You got the wrong guy. It's Jess!" She gasped.

"Hold on! Getting the fossils was your jobs!"

"I was in charge of machine maintenance!"

"And I was in charge of hole maintenance!" Meowth told them, but they just yelled,

"The one in your head?!"

"Grrr! You guys always mess up my brilliant ideas!" Jessie accused her partners, but James retaliated.

"But all your brilliant ideas come from me!" As they argued, the machine they stole inexplicably activated(A/N: I mean seriously? I know this show show can be silly at times but unless it powers itself it shouldn't turn on in the woods.), and Aerodactyl fossil restored.

"Fossil restored?" Jessie inquired.

"It looks like it just got done baking!" Meowth commented, to which Jessie smiled. They all giggled as the doors opened up, vapor pouring out.

"All done!"

"What's old is new!" James remarked.

"It's a fossil coup!" Meowth added. Opening its wings, the rock/flying type pushed all the vapor and and gave a loud screech. "It's an Aerodactyle!"

"Without further ado! Pokeball!" Throwing her Pokeball, she intended to catch it, but the creature swatted back and beaned Jessie in the head, yelping from the hit.

"Oof, that must've hurt." James commented. Jessie got up all enraged.

"You ingrate! Not every ancient Pokemon gets into Team Rocket!" Aerodactyl ignored them as it flew up into the air, beginning a Giga Impact. Heading down towards them, the trio screamed in fear as it ploughed right threw them and flew away into the sky.

"It's winging its way to town!" James pointed out.

"Shall we...?" Jessie asked her partner.

"We shall. He replied, but Meowth had a better idea.

"Hold the phone!" He pitched them an idea, which seemed perfect for their evil minds.

"Alright, break time!" Ash called out, to which everyone stopped.

"Yeah, our Pokemon do look a bit winded." Trace sighed.

"We have been working hard." Elaine wiped sweat from her brow. Marill gently sprayed Clefairy with water to cool her down from the hot sun.

"I can certainly see that." They turned to see that Roark has come by. "It's important not to work too hard. Just figure out a strategy best suited for you and your Pokemon."

"Right." All of them agreed.

"Well, I've got some digging I need to get back to. I've always loved searching for ancient fossils. Oh, like that!" Roark moved a stone to pick up a fossil of a shell. "I found that first Cranidos fossil when I was just a kid, and so I had to have it restored. What an amazing thing to restore Pokemon fossils. Cranidos was my first one."

"Amazing! Awesome what science can do!" Ash commented with wonder.

"Yeah, but these fossils are more amazing. Evolution isn't just a spontaneous metamorphoses in a single moment, it's a constant process over millions of years. It's almost like these fossils came back to tell me all about their ancient secrets. Fossils are as beautiful as it gets." It was something to consider of such a wonderful topic, but the screech of a Pokemon interrupted their conversation when an Aerodactyl flew overhead.

"An Aerodactyl?!" Elaine gasped. Once it entered the city limits, it fired Hyper Beam on the place, destroying property. Things went especially bad when it fired on the part of the museum where the restored fossils were, and a whole bunch of Pokemon escaped. A Kabutops and an Armaldo. The gang and Roark ran to where they saw it flying, and soon came across the armed forces preparing to recapture the latter two.

"Hold on!" Roark told them. "Let me handle this!"

"Gym Leader Roark!" One of the scientists recognized.

"It's a good thing I brought Rampardos!" Roark sent out a dark grey and blue dinosaur, the evolved form of Cranidos.

"Pikachu/Eevee!" Ash and Trace told their Pokemon, and the two complied as they ran to be along side Rampardos.

"Marill, time to show what you're made of!" Elaine told her Aqua Rabbit Pokemon, and she nodded as she joined the fight.

"Careful, these Pokemon are very strong. Beyond your current level. Just wait for the right openings." The gym leader told the teenage trio.

"Right!" All of them agreed.

"Rampardos, use Zen Headbutt!" With its head glowing with psychic power, the rock type Pokemon began to charge when all three rampaging Pokemon were caught by giant red grappling claws. They belonged to Team Rocket whom piloted a giant walking cylinder with the Pokemon Restorer inside.

"No way!" Roark gasped.

"That's the machine they stole!" The scientists called out.

"Listen, is that people in shock that I hear?"

"They're gasping to me loud and clear."

"On the wind!"

"Past the stars!"

"In your ear!"

"Bringing chaos at a breakneck pace!"

"Dashing hope, putting fear in its place!"

"A rose by any other name is just as sweet!"

"When everything's worse our work is complete!"

"Jessie!"

"James!"

"Meowth, now that's a name!"

"Putting the do-gooders in their place!"

"We're Team Rocket!"

"In your face!" All three finished their motto.

"You sure love your songs, don't you?" Trace commented, seeing it weird they changed it from when they heard it first in Kanto.

"It's all for the name of dramatic flair signature of Team Rocket." Jessie defended it.

"No matter the region or situation a motto is always in need!" James added.

"And don't yas forget it!" Meowth told them.

"We need to be careful about this." Roark told our protagonists. "If not, we could badly damage the Pokemon and the restorer.

"Sounds like sound logic." Jessie giggled.

"Do what's best and do jack squat." James told them. Before Meowth could say his part, a screech cut them off as Aerodactyl came into the scene. Firing a Hyper Beam, it tipped over the giant robot Team Rocket created which released the Pokemon they snagged. The scientists were able to promptly return Kabutops and Armaldo. They weren't out of the woods yet when the Fossil Pokemon came swooping down, using Giga Impact.

"Rampardos, use Head Smash!" Roark told his Pokemon. Rampardos's body erupted in blue energy as it roared, and took a big leap towards the sky at Aerodactyl. The two rock types clashed in a powerful struggle of tremendous strength. If they were evenly matched, the two might've stalemated each other. However, Aerodactyl being part flying type being hit by one of the strongest rock type moves meant it couldn't withstand the pain it was inflicted and was pushed back. Smashing into a wall before falling to the ground, Aerodactyl was no longer a threat. Especially when it was caught by one of the scientists. "We're all safe now."

"Guess again you twerps!" Jessie objected once the machine was able to right itself. "You may have the Pokemon but we've still got your precious Pokemon restorer!"

"And with that there's only one thing left to do!" James said, before they pulled a U-Turn and retreated. "Run!"

"Rampardos, go!" Roark pointed at them. The Head Butt Pokemon chased after Team Rocket with superior speed.

"Quick Meowth, nip that rock pile!" Jessie told the Scratch Cat Pokemon.

"Lift off!" He yelled as he pressed a button which sent out a rocket, which fell apart to reveal a net.

"Pikachu, use Thundershock!"

"Compliment that with Water Gun Marill!" Elaine requested of her water type. Both Pokemon produced their respective element, which combined to make an electrified torrent of water as it pushed aside the net, allowing Rampardos to jump over it.

"Thanks guys!" Roark thanked his comrades. "Rampardos, do it!" Charging at the shocked Team Rocket, it leapt onto their machine, gripped its claws into the restorer, and leapt off, ripping it away from the criminal clutches of Team Rocket. "Great, now finish this with Zen Headbutt!" With a glowing blue cranium, it made its attack which landed, resulting in the machine to explode.

"We're blasting off agaaaaaaain!" Team Rocket zoomed into the sky, before they made a twinkle in the sky.

"Amazing Pikachu!" Ash complimented his Pokemon. Elaine was just as proud in her Pokemon.

"That was well executed Marill." The Aqua Rabbit cheered as she leapt into her arms.

"You guys should be thanked as well, for your brave assistance I salute you." Officer Jenny did just as she said. Trace approached Roark.

"Since you have a lot of work to fix up, perhaps we can have our battle tomorrow? That way we're both fresh and able for our next Coronation battle." The gym leader smiled.

"I'd be glad to do so. Thank you for understanding. You'd better give me all you got."

"I was planning on to anyway." Trace smirked.

"Welcome, welcome, welcome! You have been approved for an official Pokemon World Coronation Series Normal Class battle! The challengers here are Roark Blair from the Pewter Gym vs Trace Keen from Pallet Town! For today's battle, you can choose two Pokemon! When a Pokemon on either side are unable to battle, that side loses! Both challengers bring out your Pokemon!"

"Onix, let's go!" Roark sent out his Rock Snake Pokemon, which roared with power.

"Nidoran, let's go!" Trace sent out the male variant, which was a small, purple and spiky little mammal creature. "Use Focus Energy!" Nidoran glowed white with energy, charging up power.

"Use Rock Throw!" With a swipe of its tail, the rock/ground type bashed up rocks rocks to crash them against Nidoran. Even though they hurt the little Poison Pin Pokemon, the focused poison type kept strong. "Rock Throw, again!"

"Dodge then use Double Kick!" Weaving around the incoming rocks, Nidoran managed to get in close and kicked the giant Rock Snake Pokemon, one of which was a critical hit as the Pokemon roared in discomfort.

"Swat it away!" Onix was able to swat Nidoran away, going high into the air with a cry of pain as a result, but Trace still knew what to do.

"Poison Sting!" Aiming its head towards Onix, the poison type sent a barrage of purple lines which mostly bounced harmlessly off the rock/ground type, due to being not too responsive to poison attacks. Nidoran landed on one of the boulders, but it slipped when a piece chipped off.

"Alright, finish it with Rock Throw!" With its next attack, Nidoran was bombarded by rocks before it could recover, and it was too much for it to endure.

"Nidoran, return!" Trace recalled his Poison Pin Pokemon. "Thanks, you set things up great. Alright then, let's go Eevee!"

"Eevee!" The Evolution Pokemon ran onto the field.

"Onix, use Rock Throw!" Once there were more rocks heading in, Trace ordered,

"Eevee, get in close with Quick Attack!" Using her great speed, she was able to use the rocks as stepping stones to get in close. "Double Kick!" With two more hits to the head this time, Onix growled as it crashed into the ground, defeated.

"Right on target!" Elaine cheered.

"Way to go Eevee!" Trace complimented his Pokemon.

"Eevee!" She nodded. After Roark returned and complimented his own Pokemon, he sent out his ace of his Pokemon for lower tier battles.

"Cranidos, let's go!" Trace grinned at seeing the familiar rock type. "Use Headbutt!" Lowering its head, Cranidos took a mighty charge.

"Counter with Double Kick!" Running towards the rock type, Eevee managed to not only stop the incoming attack, but was even able to land a second blow to the side of its head. The little dinosoar grunted when it tumbled across the ground, though it was able to skip back onto its feet.

"This next move you can't counter head-on! Use Take Down!" Charging even harder, Trace still wasn't fazed by this upcoming move.

"Use Quick Attack to jump over it!" Sprinting, the normal type was able to completely evade the rock type's charge, without giving it time to change tactics. "Rebound!" Landing on a boulder, Eevee leapt off of it still empowered by Quick Attack's speed. "Double Kick!" With two critical hits to its back, Eevee devastated the Head Butt Pokemon as it screamed, smashing into a boulder. Dust settling showed it was defeated.

"As a result of today's battle, there has been a change in the WCS rankings effective immediately!" The Rotom Drone announced.

"That was great Eevee! We're really getting the hang of using speed! Awesome!" Trace cheered as he stooped down to hug his victorious Evolution Pokemon.

"Alright, Trace won the whole thing hands down!" Ash remarked with joy.

"He and Eevee certainly know how to fight on their feet." Elaine giggled at her wordplay. After Roark returned and thanked his Pokemon, he sighed.

"Well, that's two losses in a row, but I'm still amazed by how much you utilize your speed to overcome my strong Pokemon. I can see you going far into the World Coronation Series."

"I'll do better than that!" Trace declared. "I'll be number 1!"

A/N: To the guest reviewer who asked about Elaine, it hadn't really occurred to me, but turns out yes, Elaine will be mostly specializing in fairy types since her ultimate team will have four Pokemon with at least one type being fairy. Also, I need to have a small mini-vent about something mildly bugging me. The Master 8, right? How in the anime they have this bracket thing going on in the anime with Ash battling Steven then later either Iris or Cynthia?(Which I'm betting is the latter) But I realized something. With how it works it makes me question, "Hey, how do you determine the order of the 8 like this? How do you figure out the placement each of them if not everyone facing off against everyone else at least once?" Like how would Alain fare against Iris, Steven or Cynthia? Is he even Master 8 material with this kind of competition? Pokemon League finals sure, but if hasn't won Diantha's title yet, what makes him stand up there? It's very confusing to me.
