"Oh wow. I've heard of a winter wonderland but I've never seen something like that!" Ash gasped. Our heroes are in winter gear, primarily blue, black and red for Ash, Trace and Elaine as they found Snowbelle City, a place surrounded by snow and ice and a large bride to the West.

"Look at all this snow!" Elaine laughed as she jumped into it, making snow angels.

"Clefable!" Her partner jumped in too, but shivered really badly and stood right up. It was too cold for something that didn't have fur.

"Don't forget about me!" Ash jumped in too, wanting in on the fun.

"Pi Pikachu!" Both she and Ash made their own snow people did what made his own unique; he just simply fell back onto his back with no movement forward, made his snow angel, then got up and made modifications to it. Eevee looked confused as she looked down at what he essentially made, a snow devil.

"Everybody does snow angels. These are so overrated." Trace told her partner.

"Hey Trace, you don't want to be left behind, do ya?" Elaine called to him as they resumed going to the gym.

"Hey, wait for us!"

"Eevee!" They both reacted shocked that they were just almost left behind, though they seemed playful about it. Heading to the gym which looked really metallic outside, and the entrance hallway resembled like a meat locker with the meat and hooks, a door with a pokeball stood in their way. Once they've confirmed to a person they were already prepared to enter, they were not expecting to see what the battle room looked like, and it seemed like it was nothing but ice! Ice covered metal walls, icicles hanging from the ceiling, a permafrost covered battlefield, and at the end was the gym leader at the end, sitting on a throne of ice. He was a large, old man with a white t-shirt, black pants and a light blue winter jacket.

"Attention opponent! Welcome to my gym!"

"Thanks for accepting my request Wulfric!" Ash expressed to the gym leader. "I can't wait to battle and win!" Wulfric laughed from his confidence as he got out of his throne.

"Y'know what? Ice is both extremely hard and terribly fragile at the same time. You know what that means?" This question confused Ash.

"Uh... what?"

"Depending on which Pokémon you choose and what moves they use, I could be your most challenging opponent yet or I could be a total pushover. But that's all right. That's how it should be! Anyway, enough of my rambling! Let's get this show on the road!" A Rotom Drone appeared.

"Welcome, welcome, welcome! You have been approved for an official Pokemon World Coronation Series Normal Class battle! The challengers here are Wulfric Baley from the Snowbelle City gym vs Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town! For today's battle, you can choose two Pokemon! When a Pokemon on either side are unable to battle, that side loses! Both challengers bring out your Pokemon!"

"Go, Bergmite!"

"Let's win this Pikachu!" Ash told his partner.

"Pika!" She agreed as she pounced onto the field.

"Battle begin!"

"Pikachu, use Electro Ball!"

"Pika Pika!" She jumped into the air forming a ball of electrical energy at the end of her tail, and flipped to launch it. But to their surprise, it slid out of the way!

"Huh?!" Ash gasped.

"It's using the snow to skate." Trace observed.

"Now, use Icy Wind!" Wulfric told his Pokemon. The icy horn on its head generated a gust of frigid air, which caught Pikachu off guard as she was blown away. Parts of her legs were frosted, thus slowing her down.

"Pikachu, use Quick Attack!" She tried to tag the Ice Chunk Pokemon, but it was able to evade her slow attack, but not the next. "Thunderbolt!"

"Pikaaaachuuuu!" Being blasted by electrical power, the ice type couldn't take the Light Ball enhanced attack and thus was subject to the attack exploding against it. Sliding across the frosted field, Bergmite was defeated.

"Bergmite, return!" Wulfric returned his fallen Pokemon, smiling. "You've got good fire kid! It's your turn now Cryognal!" The gym leader then sent out a living, frowning snow flake.

"Y'know what? We're going to keep turning up the heat for you!" Ash proclaimed. "Pikachu, Thunderbolt!"

"Pikaaaachuuuu!" The Mouse Pokemon once again blasted her opponent with electrical power, but while it did grunt from the power, it didn't fall in one shot like Bergmite.

"Cryognal, use Ancient Power!" Glowing white, it formed a ball of silver energy and fire which it fired.

"Counter with Electro Ball!" Making a sphere of her own, Pikachu threw it at the incoming ball which halted its movement, resulting in the two moves exploding.

"Aurora Beam!" A blueish green orb formed in front of its mouth like Ancient Power, before a beam shot from it and hit Pikachu while she was still in the air. She cried out as she crashed into the hard floor, grunting from the rough landing. "Aurora Beam, again!"

"Quick Attack!" Managing to get up, she sprinted out of the way of the attack, even as the Crystallizing Pokemon tried to aim its attack to where she was. "Now use Iron Tail!" Leaping up over the Pokemon, the ice type was slammed by Pikachu's glowing tail as it was smashed down into the ground. Rolling around, it was soon shown to have been defeated.

"As a result of today's battle, there has been a change in the WCS rankings effective immediately!" The Rotom Drone announced.

"Alright!" Trace and Elaine cheered, along with their Pokemon.

"Way to go Pikachu!" Ash congratulated his partner.

"Pikachu!" She grinned and smiled back.

"Cryognal, return." Wulfric returned his Pokemon, before laughing. "Haha, looks like you certainly can handle the cold! Your Pikachu is impressively strong! I have confidence your ice strong will is going to get you far."

"No, not ice strong. My will is tougher than even steel!" Ash told the gym leader. Wulfric could only laugh some more.

"Now that's a fiery spirit! Always aim for higher goals!"

"Oh, we'll keep climbing. Right Pikachu?"

"Pika Pika!"

A/N: Certainly easier when there's no Mega Evolution involved, huh? We're too early to involve that stuff, but we'll eventually get there. Also, some good news. We're finally going to have some regular appearance of female gym leaders. Doesn't mean we're past some of the 'weakest' gym leaders, since we're somewhere in the 7000s rankings of the Normal Class, but at least we'll get to see some variety by seeing some female leaders after going through a region's worth of guys in a row. That's good stuff.
