Happy late Valentine's Day/Hearts and Hooves Day, everyone! Here's a short fanfic that takes place after the end of "Dragon Dropped"

Despite Pinkie Pie inadvertently waking the bats and causing them to scatter around, she, Rarity and Spike were able to explore the gem cave without any other problems. Unfortunately, they weren't able to collect many gems due to the bats snatching a lot of them after being awoken. The only gems the trio could really gather were basic types that Spike would eat. Although disappointed that she couldn't find any rare type of gems, Rarity was happy Spike tagged along and allowed him to eat the gems they collected as "apology tokens" for how she behaved toward him and Gabby recently.

The trio were now back in Ponyville, standing near the forest. Spike sighed and said, "Boy, that exploration sure was something."

"Indeed," Rarity agreed. "Who knew bats could be so into gems."

"I thought only dragons liked gems and bats preferred foods like apples." Pinkie added. "I guess the writer couldn't think of a better way to explain what happened during our cave exploration." Spike and Rarity gave questioning looks at Pinkie's last sentence. "Anyway, it was great hanging out with you two, but I got to go help the Cakes at Sugarcube Corner. Bye!"

Pinkie bounced away toward Sugarcube Corner, leaving Rarity and Spike alone with each other. Once the party pony was out of sight, Spike said, "Well, Rarity, even though we weren't able to get the gems you wanted, I had a really good time with you and Pinkie in the gem cave."

"As did I, Spike." Rarity replied with a grin. "And honestly, just being alongside you and my other friends is better than anything else."

"Glad to hear." Spike noticed Rarity's grin fade to a little frown as she sat down and looked away from him. "What's wrong, Rarity?"

Rarity sighed before answering, "Spike, I truly am sorry for my recent behavior. I didn't mean to be so selfish and inconsiderate of your own feelings. It's just that you and I have been such close friends for quite a long time now, and I've grown to love the times we get to spend together, because they made me realize how special you are to me. So when you started spending more time with Gabby, not only was I jealous, but I feared as though you were going to end up leaving me eventually. And honestly, next to Sweetie Belle, you're the last creature I would want to leave me."

When Spike noticed Rarity's eyes begin to water, he placed a hand on her face cheek, which caused her to look at him as he told her soothingly, "Rarity, there's no need to be sad. I understand how you felt, and I know you had no intention of hurting anyone's feelings. After all, you're the Element of Generosity, and I'm grateful to have somepony like you as a close friend. I'm also glad to know that you love spending time with me. But just because I make new friends, that doesn't mean I'll stop being with my old ones. I would never leave a friend; especially one as beautiful, smart, and talented as you."

Feeling touched by Spike's words, Rarity wiped the water from her eyes and smiled as she replied, "Oh, Spike; you are without a doubt the sweetest dragon I've ever gotten to know. And I am ever so grateful to have you as a dear friend."

Spike chuckled and blushed a bit at Rarity's complement. "Don't mention it." He took his hand off her face cheek and began to flap his wings. "Well, I'd better head back to the castle and help Twilight with some stuff. See you around, Rarity."

Spike began to fly off, but after going only a short distance away, he felt something stop him. Looking back, he saw that Rarity was using her magic on him when she said, "Actually, Spike, before you go, there's one more thing I want to tell you." Rarity levitated Spike over to her until they're face to face.

"What is it, Rarity?" Spike asked. Rarity suddenly grabbed his face and kissed him on the lips! Spike's eyes widened in surprise, until they turned into hearts as he accepts the kiss. After so long, the mare of his dreams was finally reciprocating his feelings for her.

Rarity soon broke the kiss and whispered to Spike, "You will always be my Spikey Wikey." She released Spike's face, with the young dragon now in a dazed state and blushing heavily. Spike then started laughing goofily before flying off again in a more awkward fashion. Rarity didn't stop him this time; she just giggled affectionately at the way he left and uttered, "I love that little dragon."

A/N: I initially wanted to get this on here the actual day of love and romance, but life and other things prevented me from looking things over. ^^; Anyway, this one-shot is mostly based off an SFM poster of the same name I made last year (which is also the cover of this fanfic). =p And yes, I am slowly adapting to writing fanfics in book form instead of script form; that still isn't easy for me right now. :p

As stated, this short fanfic is basically my own epilogue of the episode "Dragon Dropped" (which is hated by a lot of MLP fans due mostly to the portrayals of Rarity and Gabby the Griffin and feeling insulting to Sparity shippers). Based on a few fan theories I've seen, I believe there's a possibility that after the episode, Spike and Rarity grew closer to each other with the former most likely reciprocating the latter's feelings. Whether or not the two actually got together in the end is uncertain, but some fans believe they might have entered a real relationship after Spike became the Ambassador of Friendship. Who knows. *shrug*

Btw, just to let you know, I'm not really a Sparity shipper. Tbh, I'm mostly MIXED about the pairing. On one hand, I find it cute and adorable; and it's nice to see that a beautiful girl/mare like Rarity actually likes an average non-pony like Spike for who he is (even if not necessarily in a "romantic" way like he feels for her). But on the other hand, I also find the pairing a little questionable due to the possible age gap between Rarity and Spike. Although their exact ages were never revealed, it's been highly suggested that Rarity and the rest of the Mane 6 are at least in their late-teens while Spike—despite being labeled as a "baby" dragon—is around the same age as the Cutie Mark Crusaders (about 10 years old or so). Despite that though, reading a lot of fanfics have made me appreciate the pairing, primarily because in most of those stories, the age gap between Spike and Rarity (as well as the rest of the Mane 6) is shortened to about 2 years.

Also, this is the first official MLP fanfic I've written, so it probably isn't so great. And you might notice a couple of plot errors here, such as Rarity being described of not wearing the fancy outfit she wore at the end of "Dragon Dropped". But I think I managed to keep the characters mostly in character, especially with Pinkie Pie breaking the fourth wall. :3 Any feedback is accepted, including fair constructive criticism (but I will NOT tolerate petty hate! :X)

That all being, thanks for reading! :)
