A/N: Happiest Birthday to my friend Haley, with who I brainstormed this one shot.
Adam was holed inside his undercover apartment. It was dainty and it was never meant to be permanent so he had no real need to make it look like any kind of home. He wanted to be back with Kim at her place, but that's clearly not what she wanted, the two having gotten in a fight after what happened during his undercover operation. She had screamed at him and thrown him out. He grabbed himself a beer and threw the cap on the table, taking a long pull. The days in the bullpen was torture since and he refused to see anyone in the evenings. Only Kevin knew about the argument, the rest of the team in the dark. He emptied his bottle and grabbed himself a second one that he downed just as quickly before he went for something stronger. He really wasn't in the mood for anything except sending his whole body into oblivion. He hated being at odds with Kim, even more now after what he had gone through, a very first in his life. He had always stayed away from drugs, having first-hand experience with what it did to someone. He was finally feeling a heavy buzz when there was a knock on the door. He ignored it as he downed another glass but the knocking became more persistent.
"Stop with the fucking knocking." He wasn't expecting to see Kim on the other side of the door.
"If you answered your door I wouldn't be trying to break it down." She said defiantly.
"I'm not in the mood to have you yelling at me again, I've got enough of that to last a fucking lifetime." He was about to slam the door in her face but she put her hand up to stop the motion.
"I'm here to apologize." She let herself in as he huffed his annoyance.
"I didn't know you were capable of doing that. He set his glass down roughly on the kitchen counter.
"Adam, you're drunk.
"Not drunk, just a bit buzzed." Kim chuckled at that comment, being able to see though his bullshit attitude.
"I don't need a babysitter."
"Maybe you do." She crossed her arms over her chest.
"Maybe you need to go back home and leave me alone."
"Maybe you need to shut up and listen to me."
"I really don't."
"Yes you do." She didn't let him any time to reply before she started going at him again. "Do you have any idea how scared I was when I heard you over the radio?"
"Couldn't be that scared to kick me out on my ass the same night I was discharged."
"I was fucking terrified Adam. I thought my heart was about to stop right there in that car with Kevin. I heard you over the radio, I knew what you were doing and I was scared I'd lose you."
"How exactly do you think I felt when you were taken?" He threw back at her? "Every single time something ever happened to you has taken years off my life. In that warehouse with Roman, when you got shot, when you and Hailey were abducted, when you put yourself between a man and his gun when you were pregnant, when you lost the baby, Roy?" He could see her eyes watering through his own, but the anger kept him going. "I was either helpless to do anything for you, or I went to blows with my best friend just to able to get to you because they were taking too much fucking time. So you don't get to stand here and tell me what it feels like to be worried to lose someone."
"I don't ever want to feel that way again, Adam."
"Well you don't get to make that kind of demand, because we're not together, you keep making sure of that."
"That's the thing Adam, I can't do that anymore. I want to be with you and I want to be all in. No more hiding behind the past, behind my heartbreak. I don't want to do this with anyone other than you. That's what our fight made me realize." Tears were no longer pooling in her eyes, they were falling against her cheeks.
"How do I know that you won't change your mind again?" There was little distance between them now. "I've let you break my heart too often, what's different now?"
"My eyes are open now Adam, and so is my heart, let me show you, please." Her hands were ghosting his chest, waiting for him to make the final decision. He took one step in her direction and she could feel his heart thumping in his chest.
"You have no idea how long I've been wanting for you to say that." She grabbed a fistful of his shirt and pulled him down to press her lips to his. They could feel their salty tears against their lips as Adam pulled her flush against his body. He slipped his hands under her shirt as he guided her towards his bed. They let their body talk as they stripped each other of their clothes.
Adam lowered Kim on his bed as they kept kissing, getting to know their way around each other now that their feelings were now in the open. Adam's body was still in a state of buzz, but having Kim in his arms was sobering and his constant need to please her body took the reins. His hands moved against her body as her fingers dug into his biceps. Her body was humming with want and Adam followed her body's reaction, pushing himself into her, making her moan.
"Adam." She moaned as his lips wrapped around her nipple, digging her fingers in his hair.
"You don't need to say a word darlin'." His lips found hers as he thrust in and out of her, her body responding to his just the way he liked it. He knew all her body language, no matter how often they drifted apart since the end of their engagement. His fingers touched her where he knew she liked, moved her body to get a better angle to give her pleasure that made her vocal just how he liked, his lips and teeth nipping her skin to make goose bumps appear against her skin.
"Harder." She dug her nails in his shoulders, letting her body react to the pleasure Adam was giving her, the way only he knew how. He dug his fingers in her right thigh as he thrust in and out of her harder, like she wanted him to. When he felt her body coil around him, he sped his movements while he kept the power behind his thrusts. "Adam." She choked out as she bit in his shoulder, letting herself go, Adam chasing his own release. Four more powerful thrusts and he grunted as he spilled himself inside her. They were both panting, Adam trying to keep some of his weight off of her but Kim simply pulled him against her, wanting to feel his body against hers.
Adam's nose was buried in Kim's neck, his beard rubbing against her shoulder as his left fingers traced the veins on her neck. His body was exhausted and his heart fit to burst out of his chest but he was content. When his breathing returned to normal, he rolled onto his back and pulled Kim into his side.
"We should have done this a long time ago." He kissed the crown of her head.
"And whose fault is that?" She mumbled under her breath.
"It's in the past darlin'." He ran his fingers against the arm that was on his chest, right over his heart. "Let's just focus on moving forward."
"I want you to move back home." She snuggled into him.
"Please, I really want to get out of this place." Kim giggled and moved so she was leaning against his chest, her chin on her arms.
"I'll even make some space in my room." She smirked. "Our room." Kim pushed herself higher against him and kissed his lips.
"It's very generous of you." He kissed her again.
"You haven't seen anything yet." She straddled him.
"How about we think about that tomorrow and you can show me how generous you are again?" He sat in bed and Kim wrapped her legs around his waist, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"I like the way you think." Adam helped her raise her body and she lowered herself on him, the two moaning as he buried himself deep inside of her. "I love you." She pulled him to her and kissed him deeply.
"I love you too, always." Tomorrow was another day but right now, they concentrated on each other, reconnecting with honesty between them and a love that always burned from the very beginning.
A/N: I hope you guys liked this little AU set in this timeline without Makayla being present because I find they should have gotten their shit in a row before anything else was thrown their way. Please leave a review so I know your thoughts - Sarra
