A/N: My friend CharmingCharles2896 used his wonderfully affecting and moving story "Motherhood" to test his abilities at first person storytelling. So, I figured I'd take a stab at it as well. So, this is really a case of monkey see, monkey do poorly.
A/N: Maybe I shouldn't read more than one HJB story per day...

Casey thought he'd deleted all the footage the cameras in Castle captured of her night and early morning with Mr. British Super Spy. Thankfully, he has no idea that my sobriquet back in Junior High was the Piranha. I know it was a stupid and juvenile name, but I was only twelve when I picked it, so give me a break. I was, sorry am, an elite level hacker, and last time I checked was wanted by the authorities of at least four other nations, not just my own.
It was really child's play to bypass the firewalls and 'security measures' the NSA had put in place. Literally child's play, as I'd been doing so with impunity since I was twelve. I cut through Casey's system like a hot knife through butter, cracking his password and using his workstation, just in case something went wrong.
Let's face it, I was only in the storage database hoping not to find that damned footage! Hoping to prove her innocence and prove that the lies she'd told me were not just that, lies. Casey would have been proud as I'd taken his favorite President's words to heart, "Trust but Verify". Well, I'd verified all right, and it had made me sick. I had forced myself to watch every fucking single sick minute of the footage, as punishment. I had to punish myself for being so gullible. I vowed to show her how betrayal and lying felt when the shoe was on the other foot.
i couldn't believe I'd been so stupid. I'd swallowed every thing she'd fed me, hook, line, and sinker. In my defense, she is an incredibly gorgeous woman, extremely intelligent and cunning. On the beach after our 'first date' she had asked me to trust her, but she had never asked me to believe her.
The lies had hurt more than the actual act of betrayal. Okay, that is a lie in and of itself, seeing them writhing around on the cots and then watching him take her on the conference table, again and again, had really hurt. The thing is, I can't even really blame her. I mean, we were never really a couple, it was after all just a cover. Also, he was a super spy and from his record in the field and the bedroom, a real James Bond. First Bryce, now Cole. I guess she has a type, and she doesn't seem to stray from it.
However, it all comes back to the lying. I know what you're thinking, I was lying to myself every bit as much as she was, and you'd be right to point that out. I had lied to myself to think a woman that beautiful, sophisticated and deadly would ever really be interested in some poor schmuck making twelve bucks an hour at the Buy More. HA! What a fool I've been. Well no longer, never again will I delude myself.
That's why I activated the tracker in the Fulcrum chip when she and her knock off James Bond went to the meet with them. I knew they'd be taken, but I was too bitter to care about the consequences. Now, they'd both get a chance to taste the bitter pill of lies and betrayal that they'd force fed me. Of course when the Scary looking Fulcrum agent and her team arrived, I was safe on the roof. I'd hacked the chip, wiped it, and remotely activated the tracker. I then sat back and waited till they arrived, luckily Lester looked very guilty when she'd questioned him and she took him with her goon squad. I might have felt a twinge of guilt at his predicament or the fact that I'd slipped the chip into his pocket, but he'd been getting on my last nerve for a while now.
Casey showed up next, I've never seen the big guy so panicked in all the time I've known him. He ran around the store like a chicken with its head cut off, looking all over for me. Never suspecting I was lounging on the roof of the store, laughing my ass off while I watched him on my laptop. I clipped the footage and sent it anonymously to Beckman with the heading "Your Crack Protective Unit". I really wish I could have seen her face when she opened and watched that file or the one of the liar and her Brit boy-toy getting it on.
Alas, I won't be seeing them anymore, as of a few weeks ago, I'd found another hacker on the dark web. One named Orion, turns out I'd known him my entire life. Oh yeah, Orion is my dad, Stephen J. Bartowski. We re-connected online and then had a secret meet up IRL, as the kids say. Turns out he actually invented the damned Intersect and had a plan to remove it. Something he said my protectors and their superiors would never allow. Turns out he'd left to protect Ellie and I from the very government that he'd worked for while designing the Intersect.
So, now I'm off in a 'borrowed' Nerd Herder to meet up with my dad and break into Rourke Industries. Turns out that dad's old college roommate, Ted Rourke, is a pretty bad man. He is one of the scumbags financing Fulcrum and trying to capture me. He'd like nothing more than to get me strapped to a chair and let his band of sadists do unspeakable things to me. Well Orion and I have much different plans and they involve commandeering an armed predator drone and destroying his facilities. Well, gotta go, places to be and bad guys to kill.

A/N: Let me know how poorly I did with my first person story telling effort. I know you'll all hate how dark this one is but I had to get it out.
A/N: If you need a Charah fix and a story that is much lighter and brighter in tone, please check out one of my other stories called "Vs. The Suburbs".
