Chapter 6

District 8

These tributes are by n3b (Evren) and CrazinMonster (Trillian)

Trillian Shean - 13

Fluffy the kitten had 7 other siblings, all older than her. They all had special talents; one was pretty, one was smart, one everyone liked, one was good at dancing, one could make the prettiest dresses, one had a beautiful singing voice and the last always knew the best way to do things. Fluffy didn't have a special talent and felt bad, but her sisters always made sure to love her. To impress her sisters, the youngest wrote stories and spun tales in the privacy of the roof. One day while on her roof, she was practicing but heard her sisters crying out in fear. She jumped down and peered into the window from outside to see a fox had cornered her sisters in a cabinet and was trying to get in. Fluffy had no time to get help so she did the only thing she could. Hiding from view, she opened the window a crack and yelled in. "Halt! Who goes there?" She cried in a loud voice.

The fox stopped and looked up, confused about where the sound was coming from. "What is it to you?" He asked.

Fluffy puffed her chest from behind the window and responded: "I am a servent from the Wind here to collect the maidens for they shall be married."

The fox laughed. "That is the silliest thing I have ever heard? Who are you anyway?"

The kitten bristled. "I already answered that. If you do not believe me now, take the maidens to the roof and I shall lift them into the sky as proof."

The fox, knowing that this was impossible was amused enough to see where it would go when it failed, so he broke through the cabinet and ordered the sisters up to the roof. Fluffy followed them upwards but still stayed out of sight. The sisters stood in the middle of the roof, the fox standing above them, all waiting expectantly.

"Well?" The fox cried. "Lift them!"

"You are standing too close." The kitten responded. "If I do that, you shall arise as well." The fox sighed but move aside, closer to the edge. Just when he had opened his mouth, Fluffy ran out and she and her sisters pounced on him, knocking him off the roof and killing him. They cheered and praised Fluffy for saving them, and Fluffy was glad that she finally repaid her sister's kindness. The end.

I smiled at the small patchwork kitten sewed onto my dress. I looked away and stared into the distance, my gaze unfocused. Mom and Dad are always working at the factory, and Tary, my sister died last year in the Hunger Games. I should have volunteered for her. She had a much better future, she was even dating a rich boy from the other side of town. I should have let her go on. I should have…

No. I can't go down that path again. It opens a hole that I can't crawl out of.

I need to go to the reaping. I need to keep it together.

Evren Bright - 14

I pushed my thin glasses up my narrow nose and read. I had borrowed a small book on chemistry from the only library in town. Even then, the library only had ten to twenty books, and I've read them all. I still loved to read through.

I heard a knock on the door as Amelie walked in. My adopted mom narrowed her eyes at the book I was reading.

"What book is that?" She asked strictly.

"Oh, um, just a science book," I said shyly. Amelie was rather frightening, but I always tried to be good to her. I didn't want her to make me leave. Kean, on the other hand, my adoptive father, was quite laid-back and relaxed. I like him, he is always thinking about others and is very kind.

"Well, everyone else is ready for the reaping and we are waiting. Why don't you prepare and put your books away? Oh, and Manny's here too." I smiled. Manny was Leonardo (my adopted brother)'s boyfriend, but he is my friend too. He likes science and math just like me, and he is always encouraging me to do more.

"Okay, I'm coming," I said, then walked out the door.

Trillian Shean

I was waiting for the escort to call the names, everything else I didn't focus on. I thought about the little running rabbit on my dress. I began to spin a story for her.

Daisy the rabbit lived with her family near a river. Her sister warned her that she wasn't allowed to cross the river because it was too strong for her and would drag her downstream into the forest where wolves and hawks awaited to gobble her up. I thought, smiling to myself.

One day she was chasing a butterfly and if went to the other side of the stream, thinking she could clear the jump, she left after it but was swallowed by the river, and carried down, down, down the stream. She awoke in a dark, strange place where even the shadows seemed they wanted to eat her. So she ran and ran, following the river to where she knew safety was. But the woods were too dark, and she fell into the river many times, each time drifting further and further into the woods before she could drag herself ashore. She never quit trying to get back home, flinging herself forwards knowing it was the only way to go. The End.

Suddenly, I heard the escort's shrill voice ringing in my ear. "And the female tribute is… Trillian Shean!"

Oh. That's me. I began to make my way to the stage, with no emotion, just a blank stare. I probably deserve it, as I didn't volunteer for Tary. I should have. She should have had a chance. I suppose it is for the best though. I guess I'll see.

Evern Bright

That poor family - last year Tary Shean was reaped, and now Trillian. I feel so bad for them. Now, I just have to worry about myself.

"The male tribute is… Evern Bright!"

Of course. It just had to be me, didn't it? I feel my hand begin to shake and my legs feel like lead. I hold back tears as I begin to shakily walk up to the stage when I begin to cry. What on Earth am I going to do?

Elisa Stanica

I took a deep breath and walked onstage. The Capitol audience went wild, whooping and clapping like a thunderstorm.

"Hello, everyone!" I called into the microphone. The frenzy quieted down.

"I have a special announcement to make." I paused, took another breath, then began. "This year, as a special reminder that we have control over everything, as the Districts may be forgetting, we will be…" I gazed into the crowd dramatically. "We will be sending the tributes right into the games as soon as they arrive!"

The crowd was quiet for a moment, processing this sudden change.

"So… there will be no parade? No training scores?" I heard a loud voice come from the crowd.

"No," I said. "And they have no idea what they are getting into." I walked offstage and looked at the other Gamemakers.

"Are you ready?" I asked. They nodded. "Good. We need all hands on deck."

That's a sudden twist, right? We are going right into the Bloodbath next, and we'll see how that goes! If you didn't know, I am closing the SYOT so that the next part can continue (it will be a "partial", but most of the non-pov tributes will likely die earlier on.)

Hopefully, my second story will be full.

If you submitted tributes who haven't gotten a POV yet, they will soon. Do not worry!
