Summary: Kaito and Shinichi had been dating for a few weeks now in secret and it was time they met each other's friends. Kaito is only mildly nervous about the weekend getaway that puts him into the same mountain cabin as Makoto and three non-Shinichi teen detectives.

Fun Weekend Getaway

It had happened only a few weeks after Edogawa Conan left and Kudou Shinichi returned, because Kaito was just not the patient kind and Shinichi was just so very, very pretty and honestly he had waited long enough already. Kaitou KID presented a rose and a riddle for Kudou. Only that this riddle didn't lead Shinichi to the next heist; it led him to a restaurant, where Kaito, in his civilian get-up, was waiting for him for their first date. It had been a big gamble, but it paid off.

"Shi—in," Kaito whined softly, rubbing his nose along Shinichi's neck. "Please?"

Shinichi leaned away from him and rolled his eyes. "You're not getting out of this, stupid thief."

"But why can't I just steal you away alone?" complained Kaito. "Why must I share you?"

With a heavy sigh did Shinichi grab his boyfriend's hand. "Kaito. This is important to me."

That made his thief falter a little. "But you understand where my discomfort comes from, yes?"

"Yes," Shinichi laughed and pressed a kiss to Kaito's cheek. "But I also know you well enough to know that this is a thrill for you. The elusive Kaitou KID, stuck in the same cabin as Hattori, Hakuba-kun, Sera-san, Kyogoku-kun and his biggest fan, trying to keep his identity hidden."

Okay, Kaito did preen a little at that because there was a fun challenge to be had with this. Especially with the addition that he had Shinichi at his side and got to fall asleep next to Shinichi the whole weekend! That part in particular got him all excited and giddy.

Kyogoku Makoto put the fear of God in Kaito. The man could break him like a twig if he wanted. So Kaito's strategy was to endear Sonoko to him and then hide behind her, because Makoto would not break Kaito if Sonoko liked him platonically. Which was where the cute boyfriend Kaito brought with him came into play; no reason for Makoto to get jealous.

"It's so good to finally put a name to the face, Kuroba-kun," Ran smiled kindly.

She shook hands with Kaito and the magician lifted Ran's hand up to kiss it. "Likewise."

Sera was a potential problem, but Sera also tended to be very distracted by Ran. The female detective was so utterly, sappily in love with her girlfriend, if it wasn't a major case, her attention was easily drawn by Ran. So the trick was to not make her too suspicious and keep her distracted with Ran. While simultaneously make Ran absolutely love him. Because Kaito knew that out of the six people Shinichi invited, her opinion was the most important.

"Kuroba, eh?" Hattori narrowed his eyes and adjusted his cap as he approached Kaito. "Kudou talks an awful lot about ya. But he's also being real weird about it. There's something-"

"Heiji," Kazuha interrupted her boyfriend with a glare. "Stop interrogating the boy! I'm so sorry about this thick-headed idiot here, Kuroba-kun. It's great to meet you!"

"I'm very curious to see what kinda guy captured Shinichi-kun's heart," agreed Sera interested.

Uho, undivided attention of both Sera and Hattori. Going great so far. Kaito offered his best poker face smile to them both. Hattori was the one he was most afraid of in terms of figuring him out; it had taken Hattori two meetings to figure Conan out. Now, on the Hattori front though, Kaito actually had a different kind of plan to distract him.

"This is my best friend, Nakamori Aoko, and her lesser half, Hakuba Saguru."

Kaito grinned as he stepped aside to introduce Aoko and Hakuba to them. He knew of the animosity between Hakuba and Hattori and he hoped they would be so busy butting heads, they would not get to investigate Kaito any closer. Aoko made an excited noise as she stepped past Kaito.

"I want to apologize for Bakaito right away," stated Aoko as she shook hands with everyone. "He is absolutely awful. But I'm looking forward to meeting you all! Kudou-kun speaks so highly of you."

"We met during a KID heist," explained Shinichi with a smile. "It's, uh, how I met Kaito too."

"And I want to hear everything about this," declared Sonoko as she hooked arms with Kaito. "You are a magician, right? Shinichi mentioned that. Tell me all about that. And yourself. I need to know how you managed to distract this deduction geek from murders."

Makoto pushed his glasses up as he watched them with scrutiny. The nightmare scenario was that Hakuba would out him as KID, Hattori and Sera put their minds together to actually prove it somehow and then Makoto was going to break him in half. Shinichi would be so embarrassed by this and disappointed in him that he'd dump Kaito on the spot. Let's hope for the best.

Shinichi had been friends with Aoko and Hakuba for a while now, having met Hakuba even before he got together with Kaito. He liked the other Holmes geek and he had hit it off well with Aoko too. But since Ran spent the heists with Sonoko in the best spots, Kaito had yet to meet any of his friends. That was what this weekend was about and Shinichi had not been any less anxious than Kaito. He smiled softly, his eyes drifting away from Aoko and Ran over toward Kaito. Turned out both their worries were for naught, because of course had Kaito won them over.

"Ahaha, Kuroba-kun, that was actually amazing!" cheered Makoto.

Makoto and Hattori were drinking and laughing at the other table over, while Kaito was performing tricks for Sonoko and Kazuha, under scrutiny from Aoko. They managed to put Aoko or Kazuha between Hattori and Hakuba at all times to stop them from actively fighting with each other.

"Kudou-kun, are you listening?" asked Hakuba with slight impatience.

"Mh...?" Shinichi returned his attention to the other detective. "I'm sorry, what was it...?"

"You befuddle me, Kudou-kun," Hakuba's voice dropped to a soft whisper. "But then so does he, so I suppose that this is... quite the match, between the two of you."

A small grin spread over Shinichi's lips at that. Yes, Kaito was very ridiculous, to agree to this weekend with four detectives, then again he was dating one of these detectives. And Shinichi was potentially as ridiculous as Kaito, for dating a thief. A supposed criminal.

"What can I say, Hakuba-kun?" Shinichi sighed, his smile turning softer as he watched Kaito. "He's the best thief in the world and he stole my heart. Nothing I could do about that."
