Night 2... In the Hunger Games! Sorry about the shorter chapter, the next one will be a bit longer. There are not many tributes left, and things are heating up. I had some help from Gomex in this chapter too.
District 5 Female - Raeden Raicho - 17
"No," I sobbed as I held Kusta, his body pouring out blood. "Don't leave me. Please." I kicked Marley's body out of the way as I looked at Kutsa. His skin was ghostly pale and his eyes were losing focus.
"You'll be okay." Kusta rasped, his breathing shallow.
"I can't do this," I touched his hand gently, tears pouring down my face. "Stay with me."
His eyes closed and he stopped breathing. His hand moved slightly, pushing into mine, then stopped.
Boom.
A loud cannon shot burst right into my ear, but I didn't care. I broke down, crying on Kutsa and hugging him.
"Meow?" The cat was pushing their head against my leg.
"What?" I whispered, my voice shaky. The cat placed a paw on Kutsa's belongings, reminding me to take them. I blinked many times, trying to stop the tears before getting up and taking his bag. Inside were some more supplies, but also some flowers. Tulips, I think. They were always his favorite flower back in 5, he had said. We had found them earlier today, and he wanted to take some. I took two of them out of the bag and placed them under a tree. Using my knife, I carved Kutsa's name into the tree and sat there for a moment.
Behind me, I heard a hovercraft and I watched as it pulled up Marley and Kutsa's bodies.
"What am I going to do now?" I asked out loud while rubbing the cat's head. They jumped up onto my lap and sat down. I smiled slightly, but it was a sad smile. The cat used to do that to Kutsa.
I thought about all of my memories with him. He would always keep a smile on my face, with his not-so-funny-jokes, his constant quotes of shows he's done, occasionally singing back to the birds, everything.
I loved him, not in a romantic way, but he was a wonderful person. He had become a sort of brother to me. I will miss him so much and I think District 5 will as well. Even if I don't win, he will be remembered.
I will make sure of that.

"Ow," I moaned as I sat up dizzily. I was twenty feet or so from where Jennifer exploded in front of me, and I had gotten thrown back and knocked out. I had told the careers that I was going after Jennifer, and they had let me go. However, it appears they have left me behind. Whatever. They were never good enough for me.
I wasn't bleeding, except for on my back from the rough ground I landed on, but my entire body felt like garbage. I couldn't feel my legs, and my arms were very weak. When my vision came into focus, I saw a horrifying sight. The skin on my legs was black and peeling, almost like burnt paper. I could almost see down to the bone.
I heard footsteps nearby, but I couldn't move, so I just lay there. I hated this feeling of being helpless, but at least I couldn't feel much pain. I couldn't feel much of anything, really.
"Is there anything there?" I heard a girl's voice ask.
"Not that I can- oh." A tall, black-haired boy emerged from the trees and his eyes met mine. "Raven, stay back." He said, drawing a narrow knife.
"What's going on?" The girl stepped out from behind him. "Oh, my…"
"Stay back! I'm warning you…" I snarled at them, but my voice was quiet and raspy, and when I tried to lift my ax my weak arms faltered. Instead, I drew a small knife and threw it at him. He dodged, and on an impulse, threw his knife into my chest.
"No…" I fell back into a pool of blood as my vision went black.
Boom.

I heard the sound of another cannon shortly after the other one before. I counted up realizing only nine tributes remained. That was good news for me, as that meant I was closer to getting home.
I heard crying not too far from where I was traveling. I began to head off track and saw the girl from five looking down crying. I stepped on leaves causing them to crunch as she quickly stood up with her sword.
"W-who's there." She cried out.
That's when it hit me, her partner….was dead. He must have been one of those cannons not too long ago.
"I-I won't hurt you," I called out as she lowered her weapon, but kept it in her hand. "Are you ok? What happened." I asked her.
"That Marley girl came to find me for Valerie. I killed her boyfriend in the bloodbath and now she's after me. She then hurt Kutsa so I killed her. Not too long after that he- he- died." Raeden sniffs.
"I'm so sorry…do you want to stick with me for the time being?" I asked.
"Um, s-sure that'll be nice." She stood up as a cat followed her.
"How did you get a mutt to be your friend?" I asked in shock.
"I don't know. It came up to us and took a liking to Kutsa and myself, so we just decided to keep it around." She says as she scratches the cat's head.
"It's very cute. Well now that we are together, do you want to go look around the arena?" I asked her.
"Sure. By the way, I'm Raeden, District 5." She held out her hand.
"I'm Davina, District 3. It's nice to meet you, Raeden." I nodded and shook her hand.
District 8 Male - Evren Bright - 14
"Nyka… look," I said, pointing at the buttons around the platforms.
"What? Oh, the buttons? I found them earlier. I'm not sure what they do, though." Nyka and I had become accustomed to each other, not really as allies, but we are friendly enough and we share a common goal. She came to me with the idea that we could trap the Careers, as if one of us weren't going to win, then we didn't want a career too.
"I guess there's only one way to find out," I said, walking over to one.
"Be careful, though. They could be dangerous." Nyka looked concerned. I shrugged.
"I know, but they wouldn't be there if they didn't do something. There has to be a reason for them. I am being careful, though. Don't worry." She still looked worried, but she helped me as we carefully made our way around the Cornucopia, pressing each of the buttons. There was a satisfying click after each one, and when we got the last one, we took some precautions. We stepped behind the trees, and with a long, sturdy stick, we pressed it. After a few seconds, there was a quiet hum, and the part of the stick on the inside of the circle disintegrated.
"Ah!" I jumped back, holding the stump of a stick in my hand. "Is there a sort of force field?" I asked, picking up a smooth rock.
"I think it's an electric field, but it's very dangerous. Very active, too." Nyka was looking curiously at the area. "How did they get this kind of energy?" She muttered to herself.
I took the smooth rock and threw it into the Cornucopia area, but it too disintegrated. As it did, I noticed a faint, blue warp in the 'electric field' as Nyka called it. This was no ordinary trap. This was deadly, and there doesn't seem like there was any way to shut it down. The Careers were stuck.
"What now?" Nyka asked. I bit my lip.
"Now, we lure the Careers over here."
Thank you for reading! Poor Kutsa, we will all miss him. What do you think of the trap Evren and Nyka discovered?
