Only four tributes remain...
District 3 Female - Davina Chase - 17
Raeden wasn't at the camp when I returned. We had separated so that we could get more food, but while we were gone four cannons had gone off. I decided that I shouldn't go further from our little camp, just in case, so I decide to return. We had plenty of food and water now, so I wasn't worried about our supplies. I took a drink of water and sat down, leaning against the tree.
I sat up and went through my supplies again, making sure I hadn't lost anything. But when I stood up to grab my bag, I felt light-headed and exhausted. What is happening to me? I just sat down, how am I this tired?
There must be something in the water… I thought as my heart rate slowed. My eyes closed and I fell into darkness.
District 9 Female - Nyka Halliwell - 17
I heard a cannon go off somewhere in the distance. It seems either Davina, Raeden, or Valerie have died, but I'm not sure who.
I've been running for what seemed to be hours, but as soon as I reached the cornucopia the Panem anthem blasted through the arena speakers.
"Congrats to the final three tributes, Nyka, Valerie, and Raeden! You are one step away from being crowned a victor. Please head to the cornucopia immediately. Once the horn sounds you will fight to the death until only one of you remains. Good luck and may the odds be ever in your favor!" Elisa's voice echoes through the speakers.
I guess it was Davina that died.
What? I was not ready for this. I've been trying to avoid Valerie for a long time, because she is vicious, and from what I've seen she is a great fighter too. I stand no chance. However, there seems like I don't have much of a choice but to go.
I was already there, so I stood awkwardly for the next few minutes holding my knife and lurking in the trees.
Eventually, Raeden and Valerie arrived, from opposite sides of the area. Valerie looked at Raeden with venom in her glare and smiled, looking insane. Valerie threw her knife at them, but Raeden ducked and the knife dug itself into the thick trunk of the tree.
While Valerie pulled another throwing knife out of her jacket I charged at Valerie, managing to get a stab at her thigh when she wasn't looking.
"You little-" she groaned in pain as she kicked me in the face.
I fell backward onto the ground and my knife slipped from my hand. I was able to stand up again but Valerie was still on me. She was pushing me back, making slice after slice. Suddenly, she faltered and lurched forward. I saw Raeden attacking her from behind. I turned around for a moment to grab another weapon from my pack when I felt a sharp pain in my neck.
"No!" I heard Raeden call.
I gasp for air as the dark lights surround my vision. That's when the darkness consumed me.
Boom.
District 5 Female - Raeden Raicho - 17
I heard the loud boom of the cannon as Nyka was killed by Valerie.
"No!" I cried. I can't believe Valerie just did that. Nyka has been killed by one who has gone mad.
"Please Kutsa, help me stay strong," I tell myself quietly, then get into a defensive stance against Valerie.
"Talking to the dead, Raeden?" Valerie stood up and yelled wickedly.
"I know that you've gone crazy over Nolan's death." I hollered at her, trying to distract her so I could attack.
"Let me tell you a story, my dear!" She grinned, her eyes wide.
"Welcome to where Nolan died. It's Raeden"s little secret! She killed the boy, and she thought she got rid of him. But she didn't get it! You see, Nolan was just one of us. Just another log on the fire! He burned out. But his soul has been burning throughout the arena the whole time. Clearing the way, lighting the darkness. Laying away to the old and the weak. You are the reason he's dead. Which is why I can't let you leave! You are staying here, forever!" Valerie screamed, truly insane.
I held out my sword ready to go fight as Valerie charged at me. She threw blow after blow at me, kicking, punching, and attacking me from all sides. She threw me back and my leg twisted as I tumbled to the floor.
"You truly are weak! You dirty girl!" Valerie laughed maniacally.
She grabbed ahold of me and brought out her knife.
"I will make you suffer just like I did! Slowly and painfully!" She grinned. I pushed myself up, limping and leaning to the side. She cut me in the side and blood started pouring out. I was getting light-headed, and dark spots were appearing on the side of my vision. My head was pounding, but I still kept fighting.
"You will pay for everything you caused me in the arena. This is for Kutsa!" I let out a roar and kicked Valerie in her stomach, giving me some time to grab my sword and slice her neck.
"N-no- t-this c-can't b-be t-the -end." Valerie gags as her blood poured down her throat. Her lifeless body falling the same spot where Nolan died on that first day.
"Ladies and Gentlemen! The victor of the 248th Annual Hunger Games, Raeden Raicho of District Five!" Elisa's voice shrieked through the arena speakers.
I couldn't believe I'd actually done it. All of what I had done was for Kutsa. I looked around to see the cat run towards me, who I picked up as the hovercraft ladder came down to pick me up. As I made it to the top, I handed the cat to the crew members on board and looked down at the arena below, I am Raeden Raicho, the victor of the 248th Annual Hunger Games.
And then I fainted.
This marks the end of the Hunger Games! There will still be one more chapter after this when Raeden goes back to District 5, but what do you think? Was it surprising to you that Raeden won?
