Sophie Simpson stepped off of the bus in front of Degrassi High for the first time in her life. She had just moved to town the week before to live with her Uncle Archie Simpson. Her father, who had adopted her as an infant, had just entered rehab for alcohol addiction and had decided it was best for Sophie to be around family and in a place where she could attend the rest of her high school. In fact, her father planned on moving back to Degrassi as soon as his stint in rehab was over, so this was a permanent move for her.

She was nervous for her first day at a new high school, especially considering she was starting in the middle of the school year right after winter break. Her cousin Emma had also told her that a bunch of students from a rival school were also transferring to their high school as well. She knew Emma hated her new schoolmates, but Sophie had no plans on being a part of any kind of rivalry.

It was hard enough being away from the only parent she had ever known, but even harder having to live with four people she hardly knew at all. Still she was going to make the best of her time until she could be reunited with her father. She already missed him terribly and she had only arrived in Degrassi last week. Sophie had only met one other person besides that went to her school besides Emma and that was Manny Santos. Manny seemed pleasant enough and she was the captain of the cheerleading team. A title Sophie herself had held at her last school. She looked like your typical head cheerleader. Long blond hair with piercing blue eyes and she had great curves in all the right places.

Sophie knew she wouldn't have trouble making friends here. She could always make friends wherever she went. It was a gift of hers. She was very outgoing and could be kind and caring, but she also didn't take any shit from anybody which at times could get her in trouble.

Here she was now on the front steps of the high school getting ready to go in and see what path her life would take now. She walked in and ran right into a dark haired girl.

"Why don't you watch where you're going?" The dark haired girl shouted.

"I'm sorry," Sophie said truly apologetically," I was just looking for the principals' office. You wouldn't happen to know where it is, would you?"

"No," The girl said curtly," It's my first day here too. I'm trying to find it myself."

Just then Sophie spotted Manny across the hall," Hey Manny! Can you show us to the principals' office?"

She had asked for both of them but the dark haired girl said," Don't bother. I'll find it on my own. I don't need two cheerleaders dragging me through this school."

"What's her problem?" Manny asked as she made her way over to Sophie.

"First day jitters," Sophie answered sarcastically.
