Author's Note: Writing Warrior) The Nine are Obsidian's elite warriors if there is something that the Orcs can't do the Nine can and will, beyond that they are basically mediators and representatives for the tribes to show that Obsidian values each of them. Also for the Orcs, the chain of respect goes Obsidian, the Nine, Momonga, the rest of the Supreme Beings this is mostly due to them literally being made to serve and obey Obsidian and the Nine are basically one step below him. As for their roles in Nazarick as a whole, they basically keep the orcs away from the rest of Nazarick, and despite each of the Nine being on par with the guardians in terms of power, they aren't given a lot of respect due to their background as humans turned Lesser Nazgûl. The Nine won't be physically appearing for a few more chapters but I plan on getting a few of them out and about by the time Momon and the Swords of Darkness reach Carne Village. If you are wondering why they aren't here in this chapter it is because like Obsidian the transportation of Nazarick took a toll on them however it will take them longer to set everything right because they are only Lesser Nazgûl.
Obsidian teleported to the front gates of Fort Empty and smiled under his mask as the Uruks opened the gates before he could command it. He walked calmly through the fort passing dozens of Savage Orcs all of whom stared at him with awe and respect. Finally, he reached the door to the keep where Overlord Ratbag stayed and ruled from. With a faint chuckle at the memories of the various reports of Ratbag almost dying Obsidian pushed open the doors and strode into the throne room. Every Savage Orc wondered why he had chosen Ratbag as the Overlord of Fort Empty, if one were to ask Ratbag he would say that Obsidian saw his potential and knew that he was the right Savage Orc for the job, the real reason was because of Ratbag's record of failure and survival. He was incompetent on his own as a captain but he had a knack for surviving situations that would mean certain death for all others. Obsidian also admired Ratbag's endless optimism and ingenuity, how he was able to take the worst situations and find some way to spin them to his favor; however, it was when the plan needed to be executed that Ratbag stumbled. Truly if Ratbag was able to hold his own and didn't surrender after some basic intimidation he would be the perfect Savage Orc.
After walking through the short hallway leading into the throne room he entered the throne room with the shadows of the hallway cloaking him from Ratbag's sight. The throne room itself was bare with the exception of the dozen banners that lined the walls depicting Obsidian's emblem, a lime green handprint surrounded by a dark green ring on a black background. The most impressive thing in the throne room was the overlord himself, Ratbag wore armor made of bones and had a pair of knives at his hip. Ratbag sat lazily on the throne with his eyes closed, gentle snores coming out of his mouth every few seconds. Without a word Obsidian quietly walked towards the throne and once he had reached it he gently grabbed one of the bones that were protruding from Ratbag's armor and pulled Ratbag off of the throne. With a startled yelp Ratbag woke up and fell to the floor with a loud THUMP, Ratbag then sputtered as he tried to stand up to stab the orc who pulled him off the throne and then tried to bow when he saw it was Obsidian who pulled him off. "I will be making a speech. I wanted to make sure you heard it." Obsidian said to the half bowing half-standing Ratbag who only nodded his head quickly, still a little too groggy to make a coherent and well-thought-out remark.
With that being done Obsidian walked to the stairs that lead up to the platform used to deliver speeches to the orcs of the fort. From inside the staircase, Obsidian could hear the eager chanting of the Orcs, they were ready to hear him. Once he reached the platform the Orcs stopped their chanting, he then took a deep breath and began his speech. "Orcs and Ologs of Nazarick, as you may have noticed Nazarick has been moved by an outside force. Until we have information that says otherwise we must assume that we are in a new world and as such we know nothing of this land. Overlord Mogg of the Dark Tribe and Warchief Mazbug of the Terror Tribe shall accompany me on a scouting mission into the lands around Nazarick. I will leave the process of recruiting a task force of Orcs to their discretion." Obsidian said, his voice reverberating through the air and reaching every corner of the Tenth Floor. The silence that came after his proclamation lived for only a few moments before the cheers of all the Orcs of the Tenth Floor sounded. Obsidian smiled underneath his mask before teleporting to the Sixth Floor to check in on Momonga.
What he expected when he entered the amphitheater was Momonga, a couple dozen broken targets, and maybe Aura and Mare watching what he saw was Aura and Mare fighting a floating creature that appeared to be made of fire and magma while Momonga sat back and watched. To say Obsidian was caught off guard was an understatement but after many years of looking after his little sister, he had learned to recover quickly. With a very deep breath he calmly and quietly walked over to where Momonga stood, he noticed that Momonga was no longer watching the fight instead he was staring off into space with one hand against his skull as if he were holding a piece of paper against his forehead. Obsidian mimicked Momonga and instantly connected to the message spell being used. "There is a slight problem." Obsidian recognized Sebas' voice and decided to let Momonga handle this as he left the message and turned to Mare and Aura who had just vanquished the fire creature and were running towards the two Supreme Beings. "Well done, at this rate you two will surpass Shalltear and Albedo in only a few decades," Obsidian said when Aura and Mare were almost to him and Momonga, his words caused Mare to jump slightly but both twins blushed slightly from the praise.
"I'm sure we can beat Shalltear but Albedo's a little out of our league, Lord Obsidian." Aura said with confidence however Obsidian could hear the uncertainty in her voice.
"If you say so Aura," Obsidian said deciding that this conversation wasn't worth pursuing now that Momonga had finished talking with Sebas. Obsidian walked away for a moment and allowed Aura, Mare, and Momonga to talk alone, the main reason for this was because he felt the nine's presence and he felt them tugging at the edges of his mind. He delved deep into his mind exploring each string that connects them to him and by the time he returned he found that Shalltear had entered the amphitheater.
