Author's Note: Writing Warrior) The Beast along with several of the other unique orcs will either be Overlords or Warchiefs of their tribes and that idea is awesome and will defiantly be in this story. Story Artist) Your questions will be answered in this chapter and the one that follows it. Question Dude) The Tenth Floor's guardian are the Nine which the Witch King leads under Obsidian as such they are seen as inferior to the other guardians. Orc King) The rule of Overlords is more of a survival of the fittest type scenario, although Ratbag and Ranger are the more progressive of the overlords and slowly but surely Obsidian is shifting the power of ruling toward Ratbags' example. Rexzilla7) The Orcs and Ologs were made to serve Obsidian by the Developers as a reward for reaching the rank of Nazgûl and when Nazarick entered the new world they, like the other NPCs became somewhat independent and they chose to continue to worship him. But most of their respect and revery was born from their scripting. Also Ranger rules with Ratbag however you didn't see him because he knew better than to stay in the keep when Obsidian was making a speech.
Shalltear had just started to praise and flatter Momonga when Aura decided to remark Shalltear's chest, something about it being padded. While Obsidian wasn't a pervert or a gossiper, he could see life and death energies and Shalltear's came off of her everywhere except her chest not that he would ever tell anyone about that of course. After a few minutes of their back and forth bickering Cocytus interrupted with a deliciously ironic remark. "Stop acting like children in front of the masters." Despite the interruption Aura and Shalltear decided to go right back to their fight and while it would be funny to watch them argue for however long it took them to stop it was probably better to stop them before it came to blows. Obsidian took a deep breath and let out a shriek that no mortal creature could ever hope to mimic, the shriek was shrill and pierced the air like a battle-ax through wet paper instantly ending the fight.
"I am glad that you could make it Cocytus," Obsidian said after a few moments of waiting to see if the fight was truly done. Cocytus nodded his head and spoke calmly even though the shriek had startled him as well.
"I will always come when either of you call." Obsidian gave a small smile at that despite it being hidden behind his mask. He then heard two pairs of footsteps behind him and then came Demiruge's voice.
"Sorry everyone I hope you weren't waiting too long." Of course, Demiurge would apologize for a slight inconvenience. Obsidian resisted the urge to shake his head and instead spoke in a neutral voice.
"Not at all," Obsidian said this with a half-wave of his hand before he turned to look at Albedo as she started to speak.
"My lords, we the guardians pledge our fidelity." With that being said all of the guardians kneeled and bowed their heads. Obsidian paid less attention to what Momonga was saying and more to how the guardians reacted up until Momonga asked one specific question.
"In your own words, what kind of people are Obsidian and I to you."
"You are beauty incarnate. There is nothing living or undead that could ever compare with your radiant glow." Shalltear answered without hesitation then when it got to the point where she would need to answer for Obsidian she bit her lip in a way that oozed frustration. "Lord Obsidian is a good warrior and a supreme being even if his creations fell short of the expectations of Nazarick before they could attempt to reach them."
Cocytus was next and now had Obsidian's full attention. "You are a man whose strength's unrivaled by any guardian, you are truly worthy of ruling the great tomb of Nazarick, always absolutely. Lord Obsidian is a warrior without equal and uses a combination of power and strategy to ensure that all routes in battle lead to victory." Cocytus' words brought a smile to Obsidian's face not that anyone but him noticed due to his mask.
Now came Aura who answered with a confident smile. "You're compassionate and you're always three steps ahead of the game. Lord Obsidian is a master of intimidation and always knows how to make a loss play out in his favor." Obsidian didn't quite know how to feel about Aura's answer on one hand it was better than Shalltear's answer, on the other it was more of a list of what he could do rather than what she thought of him.
Pushing those thoughts to the side he focused on Mare who was next in line. "You're a leader who's kind as well as merciful," Mare said this with a faint blush, a blush that disappeared along with most of the color on Mare's face when he looked at Obsidian. "L-l-lord Obsidian is scary." Half of Obsidian wanted to laugh at Mare's short description of him the other half wanted to do everything it took to convince Mare that he didn't need to be afraid of him.
Obsidian begrudgingly turned his attention to Demiurge. "You are a man who makes wise decisions and acts upon them efficiently and without any form of hesitation. Also, your enigmatic nature makes it nigh impossible to predict you. Lord Obsidian, on the other hand, is far more in the moment, he can change his plans the moment a better opportunity arises, he also has great management skills which allow for even greater control on the battlefield." Obsidian decided not to look too deep into the fact that what Demiurge said about him was basically a summarization of how useful he was.
Sebas was the second to last and Obsidian was quite curious as to what he had to say. "You are the head of all the supreme beings and even though all the other creators except for Lord Obsidian had left us behind, you and Lord Obsidian stayed at Nazarick until the very end. There is nothing more to be said." The fact that Sebas' answer was so simple and honest figuratively warmed Obsidian's heart.
And finally came Albedo's turn. "You are the highest-ranking member of the Supreme Beings, our ultimate master and the ruler of Nazarick. As well as the man to whom my heart belongs." Albedo didn't get a chance to answer what she thought of Obsidian because he let out a series of wheezed laughter at Momonga's embarrassment and then Momonga quickly decided to change the subject.
"I have heard your thoughts and given you your orders, go work faithfully in our names." The guardians gave a quick "Lords" before Momonga and Obsidian teleported away.
