The air was thick with smoke and ash sounds of screaming and gunfire roared around Gothic as he tried to get his barrings. "Sonia!? Where are you?!" He called out in the smoke wandering through the rubble only to drop to his knees at the sight before him. Laying broken and dying a child no older than 10 lay in a heap before him. carefully cradling her in his arms he softly wept. "It's okay kid, I'm not going anywhere you hear me."
The dry horse crackling of a laugh with eyes that pierced through the smoke like floodlights to a fog. Leering back at the fog He waited for the inevitable flash of a gun. Sitting up abruptly in his bed, sweat beading on his forehead two pistols in either hand as he looked about the room. His breathing returned to normal as he recognized where he was. The pistols dissolved in smoke as his arms drifted back to his sides. "Same dream again." He said to himself in a hushed whisper bringing a hand to his face to wipe the sweat from his brow. Swinging his legs over the side of his bed he would get up before quickly making it.
Laying the top sheet over the fitted sheet, with the sheet's top edge even with the top of the mattress. making sure that the sides of the sheet hang evenly over each side of the mattress placing the edge of the sheet with the longer hem about 2 inches wide at the head of the bed. the whole process seemingly drilled into him from his time alive. Walking to his small bathroom he would flick his wings in the mirror at the sight of a light-colored feather shaking it out of his black feathered wings. "I told you old man, I'm, nowhere near ready to go until i find them." He whispered through clenched teeth as he got ready for the day. Slipping into an old pair of polished black boots at the foot of his bed he would make sure to tuck his grey cargo pants neatly into them before pulling over a grey Multicam t-shirt with wing holes. before sliding over a leather jacket with wing holes. A knock on his door brought him out of his thoughts long enough to hear Charlie's voice on the other side. For a demon, she was nicer than most and it warmed his echo of a heart to know that the idea of love was still possible in such a place like this.
"Gothic I need to talk with you about tomorrow."
Gothic Sighed. before responding. "You want to talk about this now?" a bit of silence was on the other side before her response. "I would rather talk about it now so there are no surprises later."
Entering the room with Vagatha and that damned angel who protects the hotel now, Having probably squealed to her about him.
Summoning a pistol to his side causing Vagatha put herself between Charlie and him.
"The rat with wings stays outside the room." Gothic spoke with hatrid laced words as Gabriel scoffed.
"I fail to see how your any different from myself. I would watch my tongue if i were you, you are speaking to an arch angle."
Gothic stood up his human features of his face and skin were being eroded with demonic features.
"Yes, and I am a Fury I answer to your father and lucifer no one else. My job Mr. archangel is to kill angels and demons to corrupt to be allowed to keep living or need I remind you what happened when you didn't have a fury around in the beginning. and your sister war was it, killed hundreds of humans a few dozen sarrophs, and made my Life into a literal hell. Oh, do tell me how to do my job Gabriel your communication skills sure as hell need work even though that's your specialty."
Vagatha set her hand on the slide of his pistol lowering it slowly but surely. before he caused it to disappear into shadow. Gabriel would just look at the floor his face showing that of shame and sorrow. Vagatha cleared her throat.
"Look Gothic, we wanted to help you be able to share with us what troubles you the most in the next group therapy this afternoon and after that little spat between you two just now it's mandatory are we clear?"
Gothic would take a breath as his human features would begin to return to himself.
"Yeah were clear just warn those who are to watch there going to see a side of me that I've not let show for a long time."
Charlie would nod before adding.
"and any weapons you are carrying need to be handed over now and will be returned to you when you begin your job tomorrow."
It was now Gothics' turn to advert his eyes in shame before adding.
"does it ever get any easier to tell yourself that I don't like to do said job?"
Charlie would give a soft smile before responding with "Hearing it from yourself helps it become easier."
Nodding his head he began manifesting the various weapons carried threw magic and shadows on his person. causing Vagatha's eye to twitch as after he was done there was a small collection of weapons on the floor; a few smokeless powder revolvers. about 12 different ww1 trenching knives. an S&W .500 magnum, a Calico M950 Submachine Gun, and a bandoleer of granades. Charlie would try not to seem disturbed as Vagatha gathered them up and left the room.
"So ill see you this afternoon." she said before leaving the room and shutting the door behind her.
