Obsidian and Momonga had rejoined each other in the throne room with Sebas standing patiently to the side of the two Supreme Beings. Since they had separated at the Sixth Floor, Momonga had gone outside and with Demiurge had visited Mare and Albedo and decided to give both of them a guild ring before returning to the throne room. Obsidian had returned to the Tenth Floor and overheard the Overlords and the Nine's conversation he left the floor after they had started to discuss the specifics of the guard that would follow Obsidian. If they thought that he was so feeble then he would simply have to prove them wrong. Now they were attempting to learn more about the world around Nazarick by using a mirror of remote viewing, I say attempting because there was nothing but forest and plains for miles around Nazarick and both Supreme Beings were beginning to get frustrated at the isolation. It was only after a few dozen minutes passed that they found proof that there were humans in this world and beyond that they were partaking in humanitys' favorite two pastimes murder and destruction. They found a village that was being ransacked by a group of about forty knights wearing steel armor with blue accents, several buildings were burning and the corpses of several villagers littered the village with more being rounded up every moment. Obsidian's focus was on a small family that was fighting against the knights. The family consisted of a middle-aged woman with blonde hair who was lying in a pool of her own blood, a middle-aged brown-haired man who was wrestling a sword out of the hands of a knight while telling the younger two girls of the family (presumably his daughters) to run, a girl who looked to just be entering adulthood, and finally, there was a little girl who couldn't be any older than ten with reddish-brown hair. Obsidian waited with bated breath as he watched the family struggle and he felt a pain in his heart upon seeing the presumed father be cut down. He followed the sisters as they ran away from the knights and frowned as a pair of knights went after them. "We need to help them," Obsidian said in a way that made it clear that this wasn't a suggestion.
"TouchMe would have and it is only fair that we honor his memory," Momonga said as he stood up and turned to Sebas. "We are going to pay them a visit, raise the security level of Nazarick to maximum and tell Albedo to meet us there armed and ready for battle." Sebas bowed swiftly and left to carry out his orders as Obsidian began to jog out of the throne room. "Where are you going?" Momonga asked when he caught sight of Obsidian's retreating form.
"I had Mogg and Mazbug assemble a scouting party, I don't think we need the reinforcements but it would be nice to have a safety net. Go on, I'll catch up." Obsidian said before he exited the throne room and used his guild ring to teleport to the Tenth Floor. "I might need some help catching up though," Obsidian muttered to himself as he walked towards the gates of Fort Empty and the orcs and the Nine who were standing outside it. He staggered to a stop as a burst of pain came from inside his head with the intensity of a graug stomping on his forehead. With one hand on his mask-covered face, he noticed the Nine were in a similar state; his attention was then taken by a flash of darkness enveloping his vision. Out of the darkness came a series of golden yellow text that spelled as follows:
Shadow Strike:
The Nazgûl leaps from their position to deliver a savage strike against a foe. Can work in tandem with Spectral Glaive, Spectral Bow/Hammer, Drain, Dominate, and Wraith Fist.
The text sat there in front of Obsidian for a few moments before it and the darkness around it began to fade. Once his vision had cleared he saw that the Nine were now fine and to his surprise so was he, the pain had left as if it had never been there in the first place. The confusion in Obsidian's mind was quickly pushed to the side as he remembered why he had entered the floor in the first place. With a quick clearing of his throat, he spoke with confidence and authority. "Mogg, Mazbug; I hope you both have finished choosing the Orcs that will be accompanying us because we are leaving now. But before we leave get enough caragors for everyorc." Obsidian then turned around to walk away before he thought of something that would get the orcs to move even quicker than normal."I also hope that the orcs you have chosen are ready for a fight because our destination is a village being attacked by some human knights." Almost instantly the overlord, war chief, and their assembled orcs perked up and grew a savage gleam in their eyes. If there was ever a need to convince an orc to do something, grog or violence usually did the trick. After a minute of walking the orcs following Obsidian exited Nazarick, once they were under the light of the sun Obsidian turned to his orcs and spoke in a serious tone. "There is a human village almost a little over six miles from here. I will proceed on my own while the rest of you ride to the village, capture as many of the knights as possible for questioning. And if any of you harm the villagers you will answer to me." The orcs flinched at the malice in Obsidian's voice before quickly giving their assurances that he would not be disappointed. With that being said Obsidian closed his eyes and focused on himself not long after he felt himself move. When he opened his eyes, he saw that he was racing across the sky as a fireball of green flame with bands of black in it. He raced across the sky before he noticed the pair of knights standing over the two girls, with one of them getting ready to slay the girls. Obsidian focused on becoming solid again as he descended in a gentle arc, he also pulled out his shortsword with his left hand. Obsidian then moved via shadow strike so that he was next to the knight who was going to attack the girls and blocked the knight's strike with the shortsword. Obsidian then pushed the blade back and delivered a series of five slashes: one on the forearm holding the sword severing it, another three to the knight's chest, and one to the knight's neck decapitating him before he could utter a final sound. The other knight screamed in fear as he stumbled back, desperately groping for his sword handle as Obsidian began to walk towards him.
The knight fell onto his back as Obsidian approached and before the knight could begin to beg for his life Obsidian swung his shortsword at the knight's neck the force of the swing tore his head off rather than cutting it off. With the knights, dead Obsidian turned to the pair of girls he had saved and who were currently cowering in fear from him, although he kind of understood why. Rapid shifts of emotion can disorient many and they were prepared to die only to be saved, they probably didn't know what to think. So with a quick flick of his wrist causing all of the blood on his blade to fly off, Obsidian knelt down and spoke quietly and in what he hoped was a comforting tone. "There is no need to be afraid the knights are dead, you both are now safe." His voice only seemed to frighten the girls, even more, that fear only increased as Momonga and Albedo arrived. "How is it that I got here first?" Obsidian asked once Momonga had exited the gate that he had created.
"I had to find them first, then I wanted to see where you and the orcs were, by that time you were almost to them," Momonga said as he walked past the pair of frightened girls still using the Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown as a cane. "I also wanted to experiment with something before we entered the village." Momonga continued as he stopped at Obsidian's side. Obsidian nodded his head slightly as he processed Momonga's answer before the older of the two girls hissed in pain as she tried to back both her and the younger girl away from the pair of Supreme Beings. Obsidian stood up and walked towards the pair of girls with his hands splayed open in front of him.
"Are you alright?" Obsidian asked in a voice with even more stress on being comforting.
P.O.V. Shift:
Enri was utterly terrified, first, she and Nemu were almost about to be killed by knights, then a figure wearing armor that was as dark as a moonless night with gold outlining each piece of armor, a mask that was the color of darkened iron that seemed to have been in the shape of a face before being stretched into the vague shape of a face with a crown (in case it wasn't clear the mask looks like the mask of the general from SoW without the band across the forehead or the jewel). The figure then slaughtered the two knights that were going to kill her and her sister as if it were nothing. But his voice was the most terrifying thing about him, it sounded like he was talking and whispering and a wind was blowing through his throat all at once. This figure simply couldn't be human, a demon or a ghost maybe, but not a human. She couldn't see a single inch of his skin, all she saw was armor or cloth she moved to drag herself and Nemu away from this figure when he disappeared from her sight. She then jumped as she heard a tearing sound to her left and felt something press against a cut that one of the now-dead knights gave her right before she fell. She cried out in pain and fear as she saw the figure with a torn-off strip from his cape pressed against her wound. "If you move too much you'll make the wound bleed more until it either gets infected or you run out of blood to bleed." The figure said as he moved one hand off of the cape strip and reached inside a portal that he had opened, what the figure took out of the portal made Enri and Nemu both go pale. It was a small intricate vial of a bright red liquid, the figure had popped the top of the vial off and held it out to Enri. "Drink this, it may not guarantee that you won't get an infection from your wound but it'll stop the bleeding." The figure said as he continued to hold out the vial and put pressure on the wound, Enri reached out to grab the vial when Nemu stopped her by grabbing her arm and holding it down. The figure didn't seem too put off about this however as he spoke in a calm manner that only scared both Enri and Nemu "I need you to trust me when I tell you that we're here to help you and your village." Apparently, that was enough for Nemu as she let go of Enri's arm and let her sister drink the vial. The figure then pulled the cape strip off of the wound and showed an astonished Enri and Nemu the wound which was quickly closing. "May I ask your names?" The figure asked as his head and the mask on his face tilted to look at them.
P.O.V. Shift:
"I…I'm E…En…Enri and this i…is my sister Nemu. W…w…why di…did you save us?" The older girl now known as Enri managed to stammer out as she stared into the mask that refused to reveal anything about the strange figure other than he didn't like his face to be seen. The figure nodded his head slightly and played with the bottom of his mask. Enri couldn't tell if he was looking at them or if he was just staring off into space with his mask on.
"We saved you both because it's the right thing to do. We both know what it was like to be at another's mercy and to know that they have none." Obsidian said as he gestured to Momonga who nodded, Obsidian then turned to speak to Momonga. "We should put up a barrier or a protection circle." Momonga walked forward and cast a spell that took the form of a pair of green spell circles with various magical runes dotting the rings.
"Anti life cocoon, protection from arrows, wall." Once he had finished speaking the spell circles disappeared and a bubble of green magic expanded from the sisters. "Take these, just in case," Momonga said as he threw down a pair of horns with a red band near the area you put your lips on to blow the horn. "If you blow the horn an army of goblins will appear to do your bidding. Don't hesitate to use them if you need to." Momonga, Obsidian, and Albedo then turned to walk to the village when he heard Enri speak.
"Excuse me." When the trio stopped walking Enri continued. "Thank you so much for saving us, we are forever grateful," Nemu spoke next and Obsidian turned to look at the pair of sisters.
"Thank you very much, mister." Obsidian genuinely chuckled at such a heartfelt thank you and Momonga decided to take the lead with the conversation.
"It was no trouble at all." The trio then moved to continue when Enri spoke up once more.
"May I know the names of the men who saved us?" Momonga looked to his staff as he thought and as Obsidian told them who he was.
"You will know my name and you shall remember it well, I am Ainz Ooal Gown."
