The Ultimate Detective and The Ultimate Hope Gaiden: Third-Year Reunion!

"Hey! Shuichi! Tsumugi! Kirumi! Gonta!" Kiki beamed as she walked into her first homeroom class of the year, ecstatic to see her four best friends after the spring vacation. "Looks like we all have Homeroom together, huh?"

"Yeah, though it's kinda bittersweet, huh?" Tsumugi lamented.

"Ah, that's right." Shuichi realized. "It's our last year at Hope's Peak Academy, isn't it?"

"If any of you have any requests you want to see happen this year, let me know and I'll work extra hard to fulfill them." Kirumi offered.

"Gonta will help too!" Gona nodded excitedly. "Gonta will help Kirumi to fulfill people's requests."

"Thank you, Gokuhara-kun." Kirumi giggled, her cheeks slightly rose. "You really are a gentleman."

Gonta blushed form the compliment, causing Kiki and Shuichi to subtly smile knowingly at each other. "So, Tsumugi…" Kiki turned to the cosplayer and asked "Have you and Amami-kun gotten any closer to figuring out what you want to do after you graduate?"

"…Actually, we did come up with something." Seeing her friends' curious eyes, she explained "We've been bouncing ideas back and forth during vacation, and we're still working out the details, but I think we've been able to come up with something that'll entertain the masses!"

"Really?! What is it?!"

"Sorry Kiki, but I can't risk anything getting out getting spoiled. This is so top secret, Amami-kun and I are communicating via snail mail about this!"

"Ah, that's interesting." Shuichi commented, his curiosity piqued. "You must be really dedicated to this passion project of yours."

"Yeah, I'm really looking forward to being able to show this to the world once it's complete!" She gushed. "Don't worry though. I promise you guys will get a front row seat once it's done!"

"I'm sure we'll all be looking forward to what you plan to create." Kirumi mused.

"Gonta's excited! Gonta cannot wait to see what Tsumugi has planned, even if there's not a single bug!"

"Alright, class, settle down." The five teenagers scrambled to their seats as the teacher walked in. "Welcome to Third-Year Homeroom. We'll start with attendance, then morning announcements. First…"

"Who knew they'd give us so much homework in the first week of school?" Tsumugi sighed as they sat in Kiki's room together.

"Well, it is our final year, and Hope's Peak Academy is a prestigious school." Kirumi reminded her as she took out her notebook.

"Yeah, it makes sense that they'd want to make our final year a challenge." Shuichi concurred as he took out his textbook. "Even before it was rebuilt, Hope's Peak had a reputation of sending the best and brightest into the workforce. It'd be pretty difficult to do that if the work wasn't difficult at least some of the time."

Gonta nodded, musing "This year will be tough…Gonta isn't as booksmart as everyone else…but Gonta will try his best!"

Kiki nodded. "Before we start our study group, why don't we all talk about what we want to do after we graduate? I know Tsumugi already told us, but it might be fun for the rest of us to share as well."

"Very well, then I shall go first." Kirumi volunteered. "Personally, I have enjoyed my time as Student Council President, and for this year I intend to run for re-election. Afterwards, however…I think I may want to explore how I may better serve the broader populace."

"Ah, you mean like…politics?" Shuichi asked curiously.

"…That is one possibility, I will admit." Kirumi nodded. "However, I am still open to a variety of career options. Besides, electoral politics is far from a stable career, and the idea of spending time running a campaign that I could be using to serve people does not appeal to me." Kiki nodded before Kirumi turned to the bug enthusiast. "What about you, Gokuhara-kun?"

"Oh, Gonta…thinks Gonta wants to travel around the world and teach people about bugs."

"Ah that honestly sounds fun." Shuichi commented. "Kaede tells me that one of the things she loves about studying in France is being exposed to a different atmosphere than Japan."

"Yes, but more than traveling…Gonta just wants to teach people about how fun and interesting bugs can be! Maybe Gonta can even make more bug friends along the way!"

Everyone else sweatdropped before Kiki smiled. "Well, I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun doing what you love."

"Say, Kiki, Saihara-kun?" The two detectives-in-training turned to the curious cosplayer. "What are you going to do? Are you still working at Saihara-kun's uncle's place?"

Kiki shook her head. "My mom and Shuichi's uncle determined that I was ready to graduate, so they gave us one final test, which we passed."

"Yeah." Shuichi nodded. "I'm still working there after school, but Kiki's probably going to be moving on to bigger and better things."

"Maybe…" Kiki giggled. "But still, I'm not sure if I wanna be a criminal detective like my mom was in her prime. I don't know what area I want to go into, but…I want to do something where I get to talk to the people I'll be helping, one-on-one. I got to do a lot of that during my internship, and I…really enjoyed it."

"Ah, I see. That makes sense, I guess. So you wouldn't be the type of detective to investigate murders or thefts?" Tsumugi inquired.

Kiki shook her head. "I'm not…completely averse to them, but…I don't think I want to specialize in them. Once in a while is fine, but I don't think I have quite the stomach for it that my mother did."

Tsumugi nodded and turned to Shuichi. "What about you, Saihara-kun?"

"Ah, I think…I'll probably still work with my uncle for a while. Maybe I'll start my own agency in a different prefecture that handles the same kinds of cases."

"I see…that sounds like a very noble goal." Kirumi complimented.

"So if one of Gonta's bug friends runs away, Gonta can ask Shuichi to find them?"

Shuichi sweatdropped and smiled awkwardly. "I…I suppose so…"

"Yay! Gonta will be sure to hire you if Gonta's bug friends runs away!"

Kirumi giggled and suggested "Alright, shall we move on to actually studying?"

"Good idea, Kirumi." Kiki nodded. "What do you guys want to study first? Math? English? History?" I'm gonna miss studying and having fun with everyone here when we graduate…so I'll be sure to enjoy every second while I still can!
