Perhaps the thing Miyuki had looked forward to most about going to Seido was that he could be in control of the temperature of his room. This detail probably even beat out the thought of playing good baseball. Not by much, obviously, but it did.
You see, Miyuki Kazuya likes things cold. Really cold. And growing up, his parents, especially his father, always kept their house super warm. Even in the heat of the August summers, the man would only turn on the AC enough to make air flow throughout the house. Oftentimes it was cooler outside than inside.
But Miyuki Kazuya is a warm body, who likes it when it is cold. He also likes the idea of being able to wrap himself in blankets and sweatshirts and the like… so his ideal living conditions would be as cold as possible.
He remembers once during middle school, showing up to gym class in the shorts and t-shirt making up their gym uniform… when it was the start of November and the temperatures had been below freezing… his gym teacher coming up to him and telling him that he could wear a sweatshirt if he wanted, like all the other kids.
"No, I'm fine," Miyuki had told the man then. "You're just going to make us run around in a few minutes anyways, I'll warm up in no time."
And this was why controlling the temperature of his room was one of the things he liked most about living at Seido. (And when his upperclassman roommates tried making it warm, he simply pulled some wires out of the heater, told his roommates the heater was broken and that he would be sure to put in a work order to get it fixed as soon as possible.)
And this all leads to now, Miyuki Kazuya is lying in his bed in the Seido dorms staring up at the bunk above him. He is doing all he can to try and fall back asleep but all he can feel is Sawamura's warm body pressed against him. His hot breath blowing into his ear and the warm arms wrapped around his body.
It wasn't until a few weeks ago, when winter started, that Miyuki realized how hot Sawamura liked to keep his surroundings. (Which, probably shouldn't have been a surprise when the boy used to refuse coming into his room. Saying "it's always freezing, you need to get your heater fixed")
Apparently this year Okumura figured out how Miyuki rigged the heater and fixed it. And now Sawamura insists on sleeping with Miyuki at night, and making the room SUPER warm.
He wouldn't even let Miyuki open a window tonight. So what if it was snowing outside? The air feels super muggy like this.
And to make matters worse, Sawamura also insisted on sleeping under one of Miyuki's huge and very thick comforters. Even when he has the room cold Miyuki never uses more than a couple fleece blankets, this is just making him sweat. He's pretty sure by now he has sweat through the T-shirt he went to sleep in.
Miyuki moves his arm, trying to move part of the comforter off of him, at least have it only cover half of his body. When Sawamura pulls Miyuki's arm back, pulling the boy into a tighter hug.
"No," Sawamura says into Miyuki's ear. "Too cold."
Too cold? Too cold? Miyuki groans. He's never going to fall asleep like this.
