"You're where?!" Amanda yelled at her sister over the phone. "Look Amanda, I just got myself in a little bit of trouble that's all. You can make this go away right?" Amanda took a deep breath. Kim was her troubled sister and she knew how strong family was, but she loved her job and didn't want to risk losing it. This wasn't the first time her sister got a run in with the law, but it was the first time she could be facing jail time. "Look Kim, I...I'll see what I can do. Just don't talk to anyone besides your lawyer, you hear me?"

"You got it, sis. Love ya!" Kim then hung up the phone before Amanda could get in another word. Amanda walked into the precinct eager to get the day over with. "Mornin' Amanda, how are ya?" Said Sam with a grin on his face and a cup of coffee in hand. "Could be better, Sam. Could be better." Amanda said as she grabbed the case file off her desk and took a seat. Sam raised an eyebrow and walked over to her desk. "What's going on, Amanda?" He asked with a concerned look on his face. Amanda sighed, "it's just my sister. She's gotten herself into some trouble." Sam offered her a sympathetic smile, "I'm sure it can't be unfixed, right?" He said. "I wish it were that easy. Look it's not worth talking about, especially here. Maybe we can get some drinks tonight?" Amanda asked. Sam smiled, "Sure thing. I'm here for ya, Amanda." He then walked off to his desk. Amanda began reading the case file and researching the case for today.

"Hey Amanda," called Steve who Amanda considered the nosiest person on her squad. "What, Steven?" Asked Amanda with a tinge of annoyance in her voice. "First of all, call me Steve. Second, is it true your sister got busted for wire fraud and what else this time?" He said with a smirk on his face. Before Amanda could say anything she saw Chief Patton standing at his door with an odd look on his face. Amanda then turned her attention back to Steve, "Instead of talking about my family, let's talk about yours? Who's daddy sleeping with now? I heard step mama number 5 has a baby on the way." Steve turned bright red and walked away. Amanda noticed at the corner of her eye that Patton was still watching her closely and she began to become uncomfortable. She'd noticed Patton's stares before but she'd always disregarded them. She was there for the job and the job alone. Not to flirt or prove herself to he boys. Being the only female on the squad and the youngest out of all her fellow officers had put pressure on her which she promised herself she'd never give into. Amanda picked up the file off her desk and walked off, little did she know Patton was still watching her from afar with his arms crossed.

At the end of her shift Amanda was typing up the report to close out the case from earlier the day. Sam walked over to her desk, "Hey Amanda, we still down for drinks later?" He asked. "Hope you don't mind but I invited Steve and the other guys. Patton won't be able to make it." Amanda looked up, she had completely forgotten about drinks. "Oh shoot sorry Captain, I completely forgot. Can I take a raincheck? I gotta finish this report then take Frannie for a walk." Sam grinned, "Sure no problem. Don't stay too late though." He walked off after turning off the lights in his office and shutting the door. Amanda had thought she was the last person in the precinct as she finished her report. When she completed the report she checked the time. It was only 9:47PM maybe she could still make it to the bar to get drinks with the guys. She submitted the report, turned off her computer then put on her jacket. After the news from earlier and the long day she's had, she could go for some drinks she thought to herself. As she was about to walk out she heard a door open behind her and footsteps. "Why hello there Amanda, what are you doing here so late?" Amanda turned around to see Chief Patton grinning at his doorframe. "Oh hi Chief. I thought I was the only one here. You leaving for the night?" Patton was still grinning at her, scanning her up and down and his gaze stopped in a place that made Amanda extremely uncomfortable.

"Well I was just heading out but then I heard you...why not come in my office? Looks like you had a long day." Patton said opening his door wider. Amanda wanted to say no. She wanted to tell him she was heading out to catch drinks with the boys. But she wanted to be the good girl Patton saw her as. The one that never made a mistake. She walked in his office just as she was told. Patton sat behind his desk and motioned for Amanda to sit down. Amanda sat in the chair on the opposite side from Patton. Amanda then noticed a file on his desk. But she couldn't see the name. "Um me, Captain and the others were going to get drinks. If we leave now we could still catch up to them." Amanda said awkwardly hoping to get out of there as soon as she could. She liked Patton. She liked the way he saw her as his shiny little protege. There she goes breaking that promise to herself. "Forget them. How about you tell me what's been going on?" He asked with the same grin he had on earlier. "I'm not sure what you mean." Amanda said rubbing her arm anxiously.

"Come on Amanda, your sister." Patton said as he opened up the file, he began shaking his head "Wire fraud, check fraud, possession. These are some serious charges." Amanda's eye grew wide. That file was her sister's. Now her chief knows about the charges. As if she thought she could hide it with Steven's comment and the fact they're all cops and Atlanta isn't exactly a big town. How will this effect her and her job? "Yeah it's been difficult. I'm doing my best to help my sister." Patton then cut Amanda off and said, "Well I have a solution that could make this all go away." Amanda's eyes grew wide. Did Patton know someone at the precinct that can erase the charges? Or at the very least get Kim a plea deal? "Chief I don't know what to say." Amanda said, and that was when she realized she misunderstood what Patton meant when she saw the smirk on his face. Amanda took a deep breath and said, "Go away how?" Patton then chuckled, "I booked a motel room at La Via Motel for tomorrow at 9PM under your name. Why not meet me there and find out?" Amanda had a look of shame on her face. Was Patton trying to sleep with here? No. She can't do that. He's her boss. But...it's family. Kim is her sister. Amanda then stood up and walked towards the door. Patton then called after her, "Amanda. I can make all your problems go away." Amanda left without turning back. Her cheeks were red as she walked to the car. What is she supposed to do? Let her sister rot away in prison when she can do something to help?

The following night Amanda walked to the motel. She just wanted to get this nightmare over with. She walked up to the front desk. "I have a reservation for Amanda Rollins." She said to the receptionist who didn't look up at Amanda as she handed her the motel room keys. Amanda hurried up to the room and knocked. She then entered to find the empty motel room. She laid on the bed and leaned her against the headboard. She could hear someone watching 'The Price Is Right' next door. She then heard a knock on the door. Amanda took a deep breath and got up to answer the door. She was quickly greeted with a rough kiss on the lips. She backed up and caught herself from falling by holding onto the wall. Patton then slammed the door behind him and continued kissing her lips and her neck. Amanda could smell the Jack Daniels on his breath. "Patton...Patton hold on." She said upon realizing he was drunk. He then slapped her across the face. "It's Chief to you, slut." Amanda wanted to cry. "Now take it off." He said as he pulled down his pants and shirt. Amanda slowly took off her clothes and laid on the bed. She closed her eyes and tried to focus on the TV playing next door. The people next door were still watching "The Price Is Right." Amanda could feel the tears roll down her face. Patton was going too fast. "Can...can you please slow down?" Amanda asked trying to hide the fact she was crying. Patton then slammed her head against the headboard of the bed. Amanda tried pulling away from Patton but he pulled her by the hair back on the bed. "I don't want to do this. Please stop, Chief." Amanda said through her tears of pain and humiliation. Patton stopped for a moment to sit Amanda up on the bed and said, "You know I don't take no for an answer." Finally for what felt like hours but was most likely no more than twenty minutes it stopped. Amanda laid on her side curled up in a ball. Tears streaming down her face. She felt disgusting and violated. She felt Patton get up off the bed and flinched. "This has been fun, Amanda. Maybe we can do it again sometime?" Amanda couldn't look up at him but she knew he was smirking at her. Patton got dressed and smacked Amanda's behind resulting in Amanda flinching and said, "Well see you at work tomorrow. Feel free to answer a call from your sister thanking you. No need to thank me though." Patton then left the room Amanda let herself cry before getting up to shower and got herself dressed. She laid back on the bed. She heard the TV next door turn off and laughter. Amanda was humiliated. How could she do this to herself? Word spreads fast and if she reported this then Patton will fight dirty.

From then on Amanda decided to keep her head low. Patton had kept his promise and Kim's charges disappeared. Amanda had nightmares for weeks following the incident. It felt as if the whole precinct had known by the looks people gave her. She felt that strangers even knew. She was just humiliated. But what was she to do? She can't leave her job, this was her livelihood.

6 months after her rape, Amanda still had flashbacks of that night. Anytime she caught a whiff of Jack Daniels, anytime her head bumped the headboard of her bed, and anytime she made direct eye contact with Patton. She hadn't heard any rumors about her just yet so she felt it was safe to assume Patton was keeping this one between them.

"Hey Amanda, you owe me some drinks." Her captain said with a smile. Amanda looked up "What?" She asked curiously. "Couple months back you took a raincheck. It's slow today so what do you see we all go out for some drinks?" Amanda smiled. She hadn't been out to a bar in months. "Sure thing," said Amanda grabbing her jacket. "Cool. The guys are coming too," Captain said as he walked away. Amanda's eye's got wide and she felt a pit in her stomach. She took a deep breath. She can't let this incident define her or stop her from having a good time. She left for the bar.

Once Amanda got to the bar Patton was there. He had two bottles of Jack Daniels in front of him. One was empty. Amanda wanted to run and hide in that moment. Her and Patton then made eye contact and he smirked, "Hey look who we have here!" The boys looked up smiling at Amanda. Patton then wrapped his arm around Amanda and walked her over to the barstools. "Take a seat darling, and you know I don't take no for an answer." He snickered as Amanda uncomfortably sat down. "Hey got my lady here a bottle of Jack Daniels!" Patton called. Amanda stood up and snapped, "I'm not your lady!" The boys from the squad all looked up at her. Patton looked angry. Amanda took a step back nervously. Patton turned to look at her detectives, "And that's the respect I get for bringing her where she is now." Amanda felt angry and humiliated, "You?! You did nothing for me. I worked my way up the ladder to get here." Amanda said, Captain Reynolds then stood up. "Okay, let's all relax. Amanda why don't you come sit by me." Amanda walked over to sit next to her captain. She couldn't hear what Patton was saying to her squad but they would occasionally glance at her laughing. Sam looked over at Amanda, "You okay?" He asked. Amanda nodded fingering her bar stool. "Patton was just messing with you, don't worry about it." He said and patted Amanda on the thigh. She then flinched and Sam gave her a curious look then walked over to Patton. Amanda could hear them all laughing. She just wanted to run and hide. Amanda walked over to the detectives, "What's so funny?" She asked. Patton looked up and smirked, "Just telling the boys about how you thought sleeping with the boss would help you climb the ladder." Captain Reynolds raised an eyebrow at Patton as all the detectives bursted out in laughter. Amanda turned bright red, "That's not what happened!" Amanda blurted out. Steven laughed, "Oh so you slept with him for a different reason? Care to share?" Another detective said, "You gonna do Reynolds next?" Captain Reynolds stood up and said, "That's enough. All of you. This is highly inappropriate. Amanda is your fellow detective." Amanda was furious and humiliated. She brought this all onto herself and she didn't even know how to defend herself. She walked out of the bar.

Throughout the past few months rumors circulated about Amanda and Patton. None of which made her look good. She felt that nobody took her seriously. Amanda became depressed and couldn't bare to go to the job she once loved. She began searching for employment elsewhere but couldn't find a position she would enjoy as much as the one she likes in Atlanta. One day she got called into Captain Reynold's office. "You wanted to see me, captain?" Amanda asked. "Take a seat Amanda, and shut the door." Amanda did as she was told. "Listen Amanda, I don't know what's happened between you and Patton and I don't think it's any of my business. But I heard you were applying to new jobs." Amanda's eyes got wide. Georgia is a small world and the police world is even smaller. Word travels fast. "Captain, I do enjoy it here I do. I love the job but-" Sam interrupted her. "But the rumors about you are what is making you unhappy." Amanda nodded avoiding eye contact out of shame. "I understand. Which is why I want to help you out. I'm buddies with Captain Cragen from the Special Victims Unit up in New York. How about I give him a call and maybe set you up with an interview with him? I know it's out of state and your family is here but it'll be a fresh start for you and you'll still be working with he same population as down here which you're great at. How does that sound?" Amanda couldn't believe what she was hearing. "Captain, that sounds great. Thank you so much." Sam smiled, "Of course. Let me make a phone call now and I'll be sure to put in a good word for you."

The following day Amanda had an interview with Cragen. He was amazed with Amanda's experiences and offered her the job the following day. The next week she was on her way to New York to start a new chapter of her life and to have a fresh start. She felt free.
