Kira had been woken up early by the unintelligible babbling of some short redhead bouncing about her friend, he looked at timid looking boy wondering how he put up with her, perhaps she was his girlfriend? Kira couldn't imagine having a girlfriend that loud and annoying, although none of his girlfriends ever made much noise, he always got on great with them, never arguing. He looked at the redhead even more trying to find some redeeming feature, he could see none, her hands were short and stumpy, heavily calloused too, in all honesty revolting. He turned his head from her to save his stomach and gathered his items preparing to get ready.

Before he left he nudged Jaune's head with his foot "get up initiation is starting soon" when he only received a mumble in response. He realised he wasn't waking up, he knelt down and slapped Jaune.

His brother shot up, frantically looking about. As his senses came to him he glared up at Kira, but before he said anything Kira cut in "you weren't waking up, initiation will start soon eat and be ready" in his usual monotone voice before leaving to wash up and change.

Kira breathed in the cafeterias pleasant aroma as he entered the room, all the different foods mixing in his nostrils was quite a pleasant experience, although he never liked the idea of large cafeterias or open restaurants because of privacy he decided that if this was the standard of food at Beacon he may have to shake off those fears.

He smiled to himself and adjusted his cat themed black and orange tie that sat upon a green and white striped shirt covered in his favourite lavender blazer completed with matching trousers. Kira loved this outfit it was almost identical to one of the ones he had back in Morioh. He selected scrambled eggs, bacon and toast before settling down by himself and starting on his food.

Dove nervously made his way through the rows of filled table and chairs, it seemed everyone had someone to sit with except him. He was the only one of his friends to make it into Beacon and despite his parents assuring him that someone like him would be fast to make new friends he was already starting to feel a bit lonely.

He knew that he hadn't even passed initiation yet and would probably get put into a team once it was done, but he didn't even know how that worked!. For all he knew he could get put on a team with a bunch of pricks or a team of idiots who will barely pass their classes, he decided that we would try and get a head start on it and try to secure himself a partner.

He scanned the cafeteria, he looked at some scary looking blonde that could probably beat him to death, some sort girl with red tips on her hair, she didn't really look the part, he then came to see Pyrrha fucking Nikos sitting herself despite how good it would be to be her partner he doubted she would settle for anyone but the best.

He was about to give up until he spotted what seemed to be one of the few males attending this year sitting at a secluded table. The guy looked fairly tall dressed in formal clothes and with no weapons or armour if the guy had looked any older he would have assumed he was a teacher. While the guy didn't exactly look the part for being a hunter Dove had a distinct feeling that he wasn't all he seemed, sucking in a breath he went to go sit down in front of the guy.

Kira was about halfway finished his food when he saw someone sit down in front of him, he kept his impassive look on masking his annoyance and looked up at who sat in front of him. The first thing he took in was his sturdy looking plate armour and his intentionally squinted eyes. Despite the nervousness he displayed Kira guessed that he was a serious person. Deciding to get to the bottom of what he wants Kira spoke up "can I help you with anything".

Dove paused for a second when he was asked this "My names Dove, Dove Bronzewing I don't really know anyone here so I decided I should get to know someone before initiation".

That's when it clicked for Kira the boy had obviously heard that the would be getting paired up and didn't want to leave it up to chance. Kira took a harder look at the boy he seemed to have enough muscle and callouses to suggest that he trained a fair amount and including the well made armour he wore Kira guessed he would be one of the stronger fighters coming in.

Kira put down his cutlery "my name is Yoshikage Kira Arc" he said this before going back to his food.

Dove felt a pit beginning to form in his stomach at this rather dry response so he decided to continue "have you heard how they form the team's here at Beacon".

"I've heard a few rumours about it" came Kira's short, clipped reply.

Regaining a bit of confidence dove pressed on "well I can't help but notice you're here yourself, like me, do you think we could try and partner up, I can tell your stronger than you let on and while I don't like bragging, I was top of the class at my old school".

This was the question Kira knew he would ask he could say no and try and join up with his brother but Kira had serious doubts about his abilities and it would no doubt draw some attention to him and his team, getting beat in spars constantly and generally having a subpar performance. He could also just leave it up to chance but Kira knew there was a high chance he would get paired with a girl and he didn't want to think about what would happen if that was the case.

But if he were to say yes to Dove here he would have a capable, male teammate secured and if he changed his mind he could just avoid him because Kira doubted it would be as simple as just picking a partner. Knowing that old man it would be needlessly complicated or just random chance.

Making up his mind Kira smiled at Dove and put his hand out, Dove reached over and took it "I'm unsure of how the process will work but I can try my best to be your partner".

Kira returned his to his usual neutral expression and let go of Doves hand picking up his fork "Now I would like to get back to my breakfast please".

Dove just kept a smile on, his eyes squinting more than Kira would have thought possible "yeah, of course I've got to finish mine too".

After a rather silent breakfast the pair made their way to the locker room, Dove waving to Kira as they split to find their lockers. He opened his locker and reached for the small bag he had put in. Opening it he took out ten small steel balls and placed them in his blazer's inner pocket.

He had went out and bought these in preparation for fighting, his mind going back to when he used stray cat against Josuke, while he might use them against the Grimm his main motive was that he didn't know how Killer Queens bomb would interact with aura. On one hand it may prevent him from turning them into a bomb but on the other it many completely bypass it. So to prevent himself from murdering a student in front of the whole class he decided these steel balls could be used as a weapon for his stand.

He shut his locker and started to make his way through the locker room, making a conscious effort to avoid Yang. He would've been able to leave if he hadn't heard a metallic thunk followed by a feminine scream.

When Kira registered exactly who's voice it was, his shoulders sagged and his headache from the day before threatened to return. With great reluctance he turned around to see his brother, pinned to a locker by some persons spear. As Kira swiftly moved over to him he wondered what inane thing Jaune had did to warrant getting pinned to a locker.

He brushed past some redhead and pulled out the spear, he looked down trying desperately to Collect some words to ask why this happened. But all he could come out with was "why?".

Jaune just looked down, even more embarrassed now knowing his brother had saw him. "I just don't understand, dad always said all a woman looks for in man is confidence".

Kira's headache was now back in full force, despite not having his relatively simple question answered he was able to guess that some disgruntled girl had did this ti Jaune after a failed attempt at flirting.

Deciding it would be best to discourage behaviour like this Kira locked his eyes with Jaune's and said "it's a miracle that 'simply being confident' ever worked for our father, perhaps you should find a different tactic as this one clearly isn't working".

And that was the truth despite not exactly needing to court any of his previous girlfriend's even Kira knew that their father's advice when it came to women was shit.

Jaune mulled over this advice for a second before standing up, head still drooped low "yeah I guess your right Yoshi".

Kira simply sighed both at his brother and the nickname before turning his head at the sound of somebody clearing their throat. Looking around he saw a girl in gladiatorial looking armour looking at him with an artificial looking smile "hello there!" she said followed by an awkward pause, "could I, please have my weapon back?"

Looking down at the spear in his hand then back at the girl Kira nodded "of course, just please don't spear my brother again, unless it's really necessary" he said ignoring the annoyed protests from Jaune behind him. He handed the weapon over "here you go

Miss?"

Pyrrha took the weapon in her hand, but took a second to reply even though they're bothers she was still shocked that another person didn't know who she was "my names Pyrrha Nikos" she replied with a slightly less forced smile.

Kira just looked back at Jaune "right, well my brother and I should really get going" he said before tugging on Jaune's sleeve in an effort to get him to follow.

Pyrrha overheard them talking as they departed Jaune saying "Kira did you know that girl is supposed to be famous?".

Kira looked over to his brother "oh really what for?" A hint of curiosity on his voice.

"Well I think it's something to do with fighting, I'm not really sure, but she's the mascot for Pumpkin Pete's!" Jaune said back, happy he wasn't the only one who didn't recognise her.

Kira just rolled his eyes "you know I don't eat that stuff, it's too full of sugar, you really should stop eating it as well".

I'm dreading doing the initiation, I'm not sure why I just don't have any good ideas I know what the team will look like but for actual content of it I don't want Kira to just single handily kill two deathstalkers and a nevermore but also don't want it being boring either in fact that's why this chapter took so long I was going to have the initiation or at least half of it in this one but for about a week straight I just put of that part of it.

I also can't decide on what I want Ozpin to be like the first chapter sets him up to be a rather bad person but I might just have him there to annoy Kira because I can't think of anything else to do with him. I'll probably just play it by chapter and not worry much about it.

I was also thinking about why doves eyes are always shut, I was just going to put it down as him being weird but then I realised I needed to give him a semblance so I might do it as some sort of side effect of that.
