First things first:
I DON'T OWN THE LEGEND OF ZELDA - OCARINA OF TIME!
ALL RIGHTS BELONGS TO NINTENDO AND THE CREATORS OF THE GAME!
I have written this longfic many year's ago, but sadly nobody showed interest on it on the german Fanfiction site.
I translated chapter 1, because I want to give it one last try. This time in the english community.
I hope the Zelda Fandom isn't dead and I hope someone will like this.
Shouldn't I see any interest in it, I will delete it again.
But should I see interest, I might continue translating the other chapters of the story.
That really depends on my readers.
This story features one of the only "ships" that even I like.
Normaly I am no fan at all when it comes to "shipping characters", because I simply dislike this.
But when it comes to Ocarina of Time, I really, really like LinkXMalon.
And this story will be (more or less) about these two.
Please have fun reading.
And I am sorry for grammer/spelling mistakes.
Like I said: I translated this story from german into english.
Please enjoy it and I would appreciate feedback in the form of a comment very much!
Chapter 1
It was a wonderful day in the Kingdom of Hyrule.
The sun stood high in the cloudless sky, its rays shone brightly and warmth the world beneath the clear blue sky. Birds were chirping happily in the trees, enjoying the gentle summer breeze that swept through the tree tops.
It had been a long time since the kingdom had been so peaceful, because Hyrule had been dark for seven years. A lot had changed since Ganondorf seized power. People had fled from the cruel creatures that had overran the kingdom and hardly anyone had dared to set a foot outside since then.
But one had the courage to face evil and give peace back to this once so glorious kingdom...
The sound of horse hooves cut through the silence of the country.
A magnificent mare slowly walked through Hyrule Field that day.
A satisfied snort came from her nostrils, as her rider gently stroked his fingers through her flowing white mane.
A gentle smile was on the young man's features and he brushed his blonde hair out of his azure eyes. A slight giggle caught his attention and he looked to his shoulder, on which a small, blue fairy was sitting.
"It looks like you are in a good mood today, Link. What's wrong with you?"
The young man's smile widened and his eyes looked forward again.
"The weather is wonderful, don't you think?"
Navi giggled again.
"And that's why you're so happy?"
"Not just because of that."
"So? Why then?"
No other word left Link's lips.
He closed his eyes briefly and enjoyed the warmth of the sun on his skin.
Until he heard his fairy giggle again.
"Could it be that you're in a good mood because we're heading straight to Lon-Lon Farm?"
His smile widened.
"Perhaps?"
"Perhaps? Even a blind man could see that."
She flew off his shoulder and then right in front of his face.
"I think I already know why you are so happy."
"So? Why then?"
Navi giggled once again.
"I'm sure you're happy to see Malon again, aren't you?"
The blond boy opened his eyes and his cheeks turned a soft pink.
"Don't be silly, Navi. I just want to make sure that everything is fine since our last visit."
"Yeah, above all you are interested in how Malon is doing..."
"Navi!"
"Stop denying it, Link! Your face betrayed you long ago."
"What?"
"A tomato would be jealous of you right now..."
Link could almost hear her grin from her voice and he felt the heat in his cheeks increase as she spoke.
"Ha, ha, ha, very funny..." he growled as his little friend laughed gleefully.
A small grin crept onto his face when he noticed that Navi was distracted for a short moment. He immediately took advantage of this and clicked his tongue and carefully prodded his mare with his heels in the sides to make her gallop.
"Hey! Link! What are you doing? Wait for me!"
Now it was on him to laugh when he turned his head around and watched his fairy and hoe she was desperately trying to catch up with him...
A few minutes later, Epona stepped through the entrance to Lon-Lon Farm.
Link grinned like a Cheshire cat when his fairy had finally made it back to him and now, completely exhausted, sat on his shoulder and let her wings hang.
"You are so mean!" she grumbled.
Link grinned.
"It's not my fault when you are too slow to catch up with me..."
"You didn't really say that to me?"
"No, I would never say anything like that to my loyal companion, who has teased me all day long. How do you even come up with such an idea, Navi~?"
The blue fairy was about to reply, but she couldn't do so when the door to the stable opened and the owner of the farm, Talon, stepped out.
He was slightly startled when he suddenly stood in front of a very well-known horse that had come to a stop shortly before him.
"Epona? Is that you?"
He gently stroked the mare's head, which she commented with a snort.
A smile settled on the farmer's lips and his eyes went up to the rider of the horse.
"And who do we have here? The savior of my farm."
Link felt the heat creep into his cheeks again and embarrassedly scratched the back of his head.
"That wasn't a big deal, Talon..."
"That's not how I see it. Come off the horse and let me give you a big hug, my boy."
Navi giggled mischievously, which made Link scowling at her and the young Hylian was still considering whether it was really such a good idea to get off the horse now. But he doubted that Talon would let him go so easily and so he bit into the sour apple and got off his horse.
A few moments later, the farm owner hugged him so tightly, that he had the feeling he would almost press the air out of his lungs, but he tried not to show anything and returned the hug as good as he could.
"Just look at you, Link. You really have become a magnificent young man."
The blush on Link's face slowly increased and no matter how hard he tried to hide it, he couldn't do it. He could only hope that Talon didn't notice anything.
"What brings you to our farm, my boy?"
"Well...actually I wanted to make sure that everything is fine. After the Ingo thing, I was really worried about you."
"Oh, you don't have to worry about us. Ingo is back to his old self...more or less. He has become nicer; you have to give him that. We are now sharing the work on the farm, as I promised him."
"And what about Malon? How is she doing?"
Link gave Navi a warning glare, as she giggled softly to herself.
"Oh, Malon is fine. You don't have to worry about her. She will definitely be very pleased that you are visiting us."
The blush on his face increased again and embarrassed the Hero of Time cleared his throat.
"I really don't want to be a burden for you. I just wanted to know if everything is fine with you. After that I wanted to continue my journey..."
"But why, Link? You just got here. No, no, I won't let you go here anytime soon. Spend a few days on the farm. That will do you good."
"But...I really don't want to be a burden for any of you, Talon."
"Link. You and Navi, you are always welcome here. You will never be a burden to us."
Link's lips twisted into a small, gentle smile and he silently nodded his head, giving his consent that he would stay here for some days.
"And without being disrespectful, but you really could use a little break, my boy."
"Why that?"
"Just look at you. Your face is all red. Did you catch a cold? Do you have fever?"
And that was the moment when it literally broke out of Navi and just a little later her loud laughter sounded over half the farm and Link would have preferred to sink into the ground at this very moment...
