Prologue: A Dog on the Run
"Guilty"
And with that simple word, my life as an ultimate died. My name is Homer Aislin. Yes, I know that my name sounds weird and does not sound right but that is now the least of my problems. I was once the ultimate Line Sitter. I know it's a novel talent to go with my weird name. However, it was my talent god damn. It was the only thing that made sense to me.
And now it's gone. My talent, My dreams, My life, and My Hope were gone in an instant.
Hope's Peak Academy; is the greatest school in the world. If you graduate from this school, you will be prosperous. My ticket out of crappy life; was gone instant and all because I fell into peer pressure. I was one month away from going to Hope's Peak north American breach and never having to see this town again. How was I supposed to know would blackout? How was I supposed to know we would end up in public!? HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW MY FUCKIN FRIENDS WOULD LEAVE ME TO THE COPS!
Not that it matters now. After the Ultimate Depiar destroyed the first Hope's peak. The current Headmaster has made sure it would never happen again; no reserve courses, multiple campuses around the globe and most importantly to me, if you commit a crime, you are banned from Hope's Peak. No second chances. I heard they even banned talents, such as ultimate assassin, soldier, thief and gang leader, to make sure it will never happen again. Why these it matter? This is what I deserve. Maybe, I don't have a talent? MAYBE I SHOULD STAY IN THIS CELL FOREV...
"Do you still want to be an ultimate?"
I shock awake by the eerie, yet warm voice. Where am I? Was I not at the trail? I have narcolepsy, so sleeping in one place and waking up in another has always happened to me, but this feels different. I looked around the small cell. The room was completely grey, with one bed and one toilet.
"Do you still want to go to Hope's Peak? I will give you these things back". The eerie voice continued. I looked around the room to see where the voice was originating. I find them, A grey humanoid figure right in front of me. How did I not see them? They have nothing to identify them at all. I can not tell if they are male or female. I can't even tell if they're wearing clothes.
"How.. how will you be able to... that?" I weakly replied; the grey human just smiled and responded, "All you need to do is play a game".
"A game?"
"Yes, One game and you will be able to go to Hope's Peak."
"This has to be a joke?"
"It's not, I don't do Jokes!" the grey person rebuffed. "I know it's a game you will be good at. a lot of sitting around with little sleep, food and water. Tho in your case, sleep with be easy for you".
All I have to do is play a game? A game in which my talents can dominate? Then I will be able to go to Hope's Peak? This can not be. This got to be a dream? But what if I lose? I always lose. I always lose at games. I always lose in life in general. But they said that my ultimate talent makes me a front-runner.
Maybe I can win?
Maybe I can be somebody for once? I know my decision right then and there.
For the first time in my life, I confidently replied, "Then let's play this game".
The grey humanoid laughed, their twisted white smile being the only thing stopping them from blending entirely into the wall. "Then let us begin this game." They warmly replied.
My eyes shut. My mind moved into the land of dreams, not fully understanding the living nightmare that was about to begin. Not remembering, I always lose.
