Expect the Unexpected
Chapter Eight
Double Trouble
The apartment was the cleanest it had ever been since Duncan moved in. There was no speck of dirt to be found. All of the cat hair was vacuumed, the coffee table free of fingerprints, the throw pillows fluffed, and damn did she even dust the top of the shelves? It was homey, no that didn't feel right- it was immaculate. She did this all for.. Alejandro?
Duncan waited in their apartment as Heather was off to grab Alejandro from the airport. She told Duncan how this trip would help Alejandro decide if he wanted to pursue his education in Canada instead of his home country. Apparently the Latin man was deciding to use his ability to read people to become a therapist who specializes in sex and sexuality, and he was debating on going to graduate school between Canada or Venezuela. He knew that Heather insisted that the relationship between her and her ex was platonic, but he just wasn't so sure. He never saw her clean up this much whenever Harold or Cody came over. Sure, she kept saying that despite their past, she just wanted to have someone that she deemed a best friend to live near her again. Yet, Duncan was still unsure on if he should buy that.
Duncan turned his head when he heard the familiar jingle of Heather's keys turning in the doorknob. The apartment door opened and in walked Heather and Alejandro. "So, this is it." She turned to Alejandro, her arm going out to gesture to the front room, "This is our place."
Alejandro clearly hadn't changed much since Duncan had last seen him. He continued to wear too tight of shirts, jeans that seemed just a bit snug at the top, and his hair still perfectly trimmed. What a tool. Duncan could tell that he was still the same arrogant, judgemental, manipulative-.
"It looks great." Alejandro spoke loudly, walking in with his suitcases. "Ah Duncan," he finally noticed the punk, "It's good to see you're doing good, amigo. Heather didn't mention that you would be home."
Duncan kept his face neutral as he and Alejandro shook hands, "Well, I live here. So, I tend to be around." The latin man gave him a friendly smile before walking away to Heather's room. Duncan made sure to keep his face free of any ill emotions. He didn't want to let the eel know that his comment, and overall presence, bugged him. He wasn't quite sure why it did though. If Duncan was going to be honest with himself, he figured it was due to-.
"Alejandro is going to drop his stuff in my room then we're going to go out for dinner and drinks." Heather interrupted his thoughts, "So, don't wait up."
Duncan nodded his head, "Yeah, no problem. I'll cook up something for myself then." Heather gave him a small smile of appreciation before she walked off to her bedroom. Alejandro turned to follow her, only to stop short as he saw Bruiser. Duncan knew the two didn't get along back when Alejandro dated Bruiser. He watched the latin man and cat have an intense stare down; he was rooting for Bruiser. The feline gave a very angry hiss at Alejandro, making him jump a little as he quickly walked away and headed to follow Heather into her room. Duncan smiled at the cat as Bruiser walked up to him. "Good job buddy." He praised, bending down to pick Bruiser up. "For that," he held the cat closer to his chest, "You get your own serving of dinner tonight." To which, Bruiser purred in appreciation.
Duncan did wait up for Heather just despite him being instructed to do the opposite. He was simply curious on what time they would get home and what would follow. He laid in his room, Bruiser on his lap, when he heard Heather and Alejandro walk back in at midnight. From the slight stumbles and giggles, he assumed the two must have enjoyed a few drinks at a bar after dinner. He figured that he would hear two footsteps go down the hall and into Heather's room. However, he was surprised to hear Heathers door shut, followed by the slight squeak of springs of the pullout bed. Therefore, Alejandro did not go into Heather's room but really did plan on sleeping on the couch. There was a slight joyfulness creeping in on Duncan at the revelation. Though, he doubted that it would last. What two exes could just be platonic friends? Well, besides him and Gwen that is.
He gave a groan as he laid against his pillows, petting Bruiser's head. "This is gonna be a long week B man." Bruiser only purred in agreement, curling up into a little ball.
Duncan woke up the next morning to the smell of Heather's famous chocolate chip pancakes tingling his nose. He exited his bedroom and walked out to see Heather in the kitchen, wearing one of his shirts that he thought had gone missing. "Excuse me." He smirked, walking up behind her as she was in the middle of putting pancake mix in the pan. "But, is that my Mötley Crüe tee?"
Heather turned around with the spatula in hand. "I have no clue what you are talking about." She had to bite her lip to hold back her teasing grin. "Look, don't mess with me, okay? It's still ugly, but it's very comfortable."
Duncan leaned back on the kitchen counter leisurely. He crossed his arms over his chest to hold back a smirk. "You little thief." He shook his head, "I'll never be able to leave my laundry out again."
"Oh no," she sarcastically responded, "please don't pick up after yourself. That would be so terrible for me."
Duncan rolled his eyes, "You still suck." To mess with her, he reached forward and unclamped her claw clip to make her long locks fall down. He always thought she looked prettier with it down anyhow. Though, she also looked hot when she was bald. So, maybe she was just good looking.
"You're literally the most annoying person in the world," she screeched. She tried to reach for the clip, but Duncan kept moving it right out of her grasp before she could reach it. "Stop it, jerk!"
Duncan laughed as he and Heather battled for the simple claw clip. They were so engrossed in their teasing that they didn't even notice Alejandro walking out from his shower in the bathroom. The Latin man paused in the hallway as he watched the pair do their own routine of messing with one another. He held back a smirk before going to get dressed for the day in Heather's room.
By the time he got out, he could see Heather regained her claw clip as it was neatly tucking all of her hair back again. She was putting all of her newly cooked pancakes on a plate, when she finally saw Alejandro in her peripheral. "Hey! How was your first night on the sofa bed?"
Duncan's ears perked up a little. So, Alejandro did sleep on the sofa bed, and not… Heather's bed. He felt an odd feeling of relief. Probably because it was just so gross to imagine.
"It was good." Alejandro nodded, grabbing his own plate to start making his own stack of pancakes, "It was much more comfortable than I would have guessed."
Duncan held his stack of pancakes and poured his syrup on it. He tried to tune out whatever conversation the pair were having as he ate. He had some appointments to head to anyway. He didn't need to deal with whatever nonsense Heather and Alejandro would be getting into. It was probably all stu-
"Then we'll finish the week off by watching Dance Dads," Heather read off.
Duncan began to choke on his pancake. Dance Dads!? "Dance Dads?!" He repeated pretty loudly, "You guys are going to watch Dance Dads?"
Heather turned her head away from Alejandro and looked at Duncan with a raised eyebrow. "Yeah? What's wrong with that?"
"Nothing," he shook his head, "nothing at all. I'm just gonna.. go get ready for work." At that, Duncan stood up and headed to the kitchen. As he washed his plate off, he couldn't help but feel a strange tightening in his chest. Dance Dads is their thing together! Now that she got him all caught up on the previous seasons, he and Heather sat down every week to watch the new episodes together. His dishes fell down into the sing with a loud clang. The punk ran a hand through his green hair in frustration. It has recently grown out to more of a fauxhawk state, and Heather always said she liked it; not that he cared what she thought.
Even when he went to work, he tried to keep pushing the sense of nagging that washed over him. He was currently working on a nice floral tattoo with a simple black ink. As he was tracing the stencil, his mind wandered back to Heather. What if Alejandro did move back to Canada? They only broke up due to distance, so if Alejandro moved back they could easily be together again. Would she just simply move back in with him? At the thought of Heather moving out, Duncan felt.. sad?
Meanwhile, Heather and Alejandro were walking into a small coffee shop. The scent of fresh roasted coffee beans always made Heather feel a little perkier. Thankfully, she was off for the day which meant Alejandro and her could spend the day together. They were basically all caught up with what was happening in one another's lives due to their conversations at dinner the night before.
Despite what everyone thought, she and Alejandro were just fine to remain friends. If Heather was going to be honest with herself, it was probably better this way. When they were dating, Alejandro and Heather had a bit of trust issues with one another. Yes, most of it did steam from the pretty sneaky and underhanded things they did to one another on the show. Plus, Alejandro's family just could not get over her knocking him off of a volcano on a giant ice cube, which eventually led to him getting trampled, then being stuck in a robot suit for over a year- just get over it people! So, when the issue of Alejandro wanting to go to Venezuela and Heather Toronto, they agreed to break up and just remain great friends. It wasn't hard for them. Of course, they would always refer to one another as their first true loves, but now they figured out a good rhythm to keep their relationship platonic.
"Still drinking your usual crazy concoctions that make baristas hate you?" Alejandro looked at her. He was quite used to Heather and her very complicated orders at coffee shops.
Heather crossed her arms and puffed her chest out in pride. "Actually, Duncan got me into caramel macchiato with coconut milk, and only an extra pump of caramel."
Alejandro leaned with a knowing smirk on his face. "Duncan got you to drop your complicated orders?"
"Yes." She hesitantly answered him, not liking the smug look that Alejandro had planted on his face. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"Oh, no reason." He gave her a shrug before turning back to look at the menu. "I just so happen to find that interesting." He kept that smug smirk on his practically perfect face, and Heather wanted to slap it clean off.
Unknown to her, Alejandro was mainly smug because he could read Heather like a book. Sure, she would be described as a book that was covered in barbed wire, but a book nonetheless. He was sure she didn't even realize how much she talked about Duncan. Oh, Duncan got me to start drinking this coffee. That's Duncan's favorite Chinese restaurant. We can't start watching Dance Dads without Duncan. Duncan, Duncan, Duncan. Alejandro knew that Heather didn't even know she was doing it, but he was even more sure that she didn't know what it meant. Yet, Alejandro knew. He knew exactly why Heather cared. Though, he wouldn't clue her in on. If he did, she would only shut it down and start purposely pushing the punk away, and Alejandro did not want that to be his week.
"Next!" The barista yelled, making Alejandro and Heather step up to order.
"Hola ami-." Alejandro's words were caught in his throat as he and the barista made eye contact.
"Noah?" Heather piped up in surprise, "What are you doing here?"
"I'm living my lifelong dream of waiting on you two," he answered in a very dry tone. Heather rolled her eyes at his sarcastic comment. His monotone voice always was such an irk for her. "But if you must know, I work here part time. Now, what is your order?"
Alejandro glared at the tiny man in front of him. He and Noah were, at one point, what Alejandro would call friends. During their time on their season together, the two considered themselves the only ones with brains on the team. They talked a lot about literature, science, and even what it was like to be a child of immigrants. Then, when he saw Noah talk so badly about him, it stung. Sure, the bookworm was spot on about him not being trustworthy, but still. He didn't plan on having Noah eliminated till much later, though after hearing that he sent the little runt packing.
The visiting Latino was so upset in his memories, he completely zoned out while Heather ordered for them. He didn't even come till she was putting the coffee in his hands, "I said earth to Alejandro!"
"Huh? Oh, forgive me amour," he said, still calling her that nickname. He still loved her after all, just not in a romantic sense.
The pair walked to a small table in the cafe. "What is up with you?" Heather questioned, sitting across from Alejandro. She leaned back in the small cafe chair, looking him up and down. She knew Alejandro better than most. From the moment they met, she could spot things about him that no one else would ever notice. She knew that when a certain vein popped out of his forehead he was getting agitated, when he poked his chest out just a tad he was really trying to show off his muscles, and when he kept looking down to glance at something/someone he was thinking pretty hard about them. All of which Alejandro was doing towards Noah. "Holy shit!" She slowly spoke, leaning forward in intrigue, "You like him!"
"W-what?" the normally composed man faltered. He shook his head, seeming to be confused at her words, "why would you- how could you- think that!?"
Heather gave a Cheshire Cat-like grin. She put her elbows on the table and cradled her chin on the palms of her hands. "I have my ways. But the fact that you aren't denying it is very telling."
Alejandro leaned further away from her. He crossed a leg over the other, his arm resting on the back of his chair, and tried to play it off by sipping on his coffee lightly. "Shut up," he stated softly, "I'll admit we had a small bond that happened in the beginning of our time on the show together. He was the only one on my team with a brain, so while we were together- we talked. We both were fond of literature, we related to one another about being children of immigrants, and from time to time we would simply joke about the rest of the team lacking any true insight."
"Yeah." Heather let out a chuckle, "That's called making friends."
Alejandro didn't look at Heather at that. He just kept twirling the coffee in his hand. "There may or may not have been more to it than that."
Heather felt a small light bulb go off above her. She remembered watching the show and seeing the pair act pretty intimately, well as intimate anyone on Total Drama could get without dating. From what she could recall, Alejandro and Noah were indeed chummy. "That would explain all those glances and smiles you two kept sharing early on in the show."
Alejandro rolled his eyes at her statement. He sipped on his drink before putting it down on the table with a thud. "Well, that was all before he talked so rudely about me in London."
"Yeah, but to his credit- he was right." She giggled, "and nothing beats what I did to you in the end."
"Maybe, but you still didn't side-swipe me like he did. I thought I would be able to keep him around a tad bit longer before I would have to eliminate him." Alejandro laughed along with her. It was truly comical that they were able to just laugh at their troubled past.
Heather glanced between Alejandro and Noah. The wheels in her head slowly began to turn. She had a feeling that they would be coming to this café quite often while Alejandro was in town.
It had been three days since Alejandro and Heather went off to get coffee, and ever since they barely were around the apartment. Sure, Duncan knew they were going off sightseeing and spending time together, but it really did bother him. "I've barely gotten a chance to talk to her these past three days," Duncan complained loudly to his unlikely companion.
Next to him, Izzy, yes the Izzy from Total Drama, was walking along one of the long park benches. It was a friendship that not many suspected, or even knew, to blossom. Truthfully, Izzy and Duncan first met up again due to a group therapy that they both partook in that was centered around adults who were once teens in and out juvie. Duncan only went because it was required once he did get out of actual jail. He was quite surprised to see Izzy there during his first meeting, apparently she was also required to attend due to her history of getting in trouble with authority as well. Duncan didn't quite remember the reasoning, but he remembered it had something to do with her being able to attend graduate school for space engineering. Izzy may be crazy but she was smart after all.
"Why do you even care so much?" she questioned, hopping down from the bench. She kicked a small rock ahead of her and looked at Duncan. "It should be a relief to you to not have to hang out with your roommate while her ex is in town. I'm sure they're doing lovey dovey things."
Duncan had a sinking feeling in his stomach at that. "Do you think they will be getting back together?"
Izzy let out a crazy loud laugh. "Dude!" She let out a snort "It's Alejandro and Heather! Yeah, they're getting back together."
The punk's throat seemed to tighten up at the idea. He looked at Izzy and sighed. As crazy as the red head was, she was smart and surprisingly easy to talk to. This was mainly because whatever secret she repeated, most people would just assume was nonsense. "Is it crazy that I don't want them to?"
Izzy's eyebrows shot up at his confession. "That is surprising."
"I know." Duncan groaned in frustration. He held onto his head, as if he wanted to physically push the idea out of his head. "I think.. I don't want them too because I oddly like," he paused, feeling a lump in his throat that he needed to push down, "living with her."
"You like living with her?" Izzy carefully repeated, making sure she heard him right.
"Yeah?" Duncan even sounded unsure about it himself, till I finally figured out the answer "yeah. I do. I like living with her. Trust me, months ago I never thought I would say this. She's mean, she's loud, thinks she's way smarter than she actually is, and she hogs the covers whenever we sit on the couch together."
Izzy nodded in understanding, "and this makes you like it because..?"
"But she's funny, and I like these stupid yet good smelling soaps in the bathroom, she does this cute dance while she cooks when she thinks no one is watching, and we-," he paused to reflect on exactly what he was feeling. "We just have fun together when we're doing absolutely nothing. I like those times; I like hanging out with her," he rambled. He couldn't stop himself once he got to talking about the situation.
The pair stopped walking and only looked at one another. Due to their shared history of having to open up to one another due to group, Duncan didn't feel too crazy for rambling. However, the look Izzy gave him was one of pure confusion. She had the natural ability to read others. Heather also could do this, she mainly was skilled at body language reading, while Izzy just was able to see people's truth. "Where did you say the coffee shop they kept going to was?"
"The one by seventh street." He answered quickly, "Why?"
"Noah works there," Izzy's eyes widened in excitement, "come on!"
Before Duncan could protest, Izzy grabbed him by his wrist and pulled him along with her as she ran. The pair kept running, Izzy to her location and Duncan because he needed to keep up, till they exited the park. The red head looked side to side before grabbing Duncan's wrist again and taking off once again. They continued this until Izzy came to a halt- right outside of the coffee shop.
Izzy stuck her hands into her large tote bag and began digging around. "Now let me see here," she stuck her tongue out in concentration. "Ah, got it!" her hand re-emerged from her bag with a pair of binoculars in hand.
Duncan raised an eyebrow at her, "why do you keep binoculars in your bag?"
"Why don't you keep binoculars on you?" she counter-argued. Izzy then pushed the eyewear to his chest, "take a look! What do you see?"
Duncan pushed the binoculars back to Izzy. "No! I am not going to spy on them!"
Izzy let out a huff as she took her spy gear back, folding her arms across her chest. "Fine. But, when Heather moves out since her and Alejandro got back together, don't say I didn't try and help."
Duncan looked between his friend and the coffee shop. They were a good distance away, and pretty hidden due to the ongoing traffic passing by. Maybe, one quick look wouldn't hurt. He hesitantly took the binoculars back and raised them to his eyes. It took a moment to try and find them behind the café window, but soon enough he recognized the beaut- plain looking woman through the window. He saw Heather sitting by herself for a moment, typing something on her phone. He looked around to see Alejandro at the counter talking to Noah. He looked back at Heather as she sent whatever text she was typing out and putting her phone down. Duncan felt a buzz in his pocket. He looked away to grab at his phone, seeing Heather's name light up his screen.
"I saw that the new Mario kart game is coming out this week. Just know, I'm going to buy it and kick your butt!" she sent him, adding a tongue sticking out emoji at the end.
He couldn't help but smile at the message. She just wouldn't let up on the game till she mastered it. It was a trait of her's that he both admired, and was going to eventually hate once she started to demand that he play her for practice. "Bring it on." he typed out back, also adding a purple devil smiling emoji.
"Ooh." Izzy snatched the binoculars from him and stared across the street into the coffee shop, "Alejandro is sitting down next to her! They're laughing about something now! Ooh, she's touching his arm. I bet he has hard biceps."
"Izzy!" Duncan glared at her. Once again, he wasn't sure why the words angered him, but it just did.
Izzy pulled the binoculars away from her face and turned to him. "Oops, was I not supposed to say that? I know it can be hard to hear that about someone you love flirting with their ex."
Duncan's eyes widened at her statement. "L-love?! Izzy, are you nuts? I don't love Heather! I just told you that I only want to see what's going on so she won't move out on me!"
"Uh huh." Izzy nodded, "Well, you're standing outside of a coffee shop, spying on her with binoculars, while she's on a date with her ex, and the only time you smiled all day was when she texted you." The red head put her hands on her hips, "Still don't think you're in love?"
Duncan faltered at her accusation. He couldn't help the pink tint that adorned his cheeks all of a sudden. "Whatever, let's just go." He then turned to walk away, letting Izzy protest behind him.
His friend's words haunted him for the rest of the evening. How could Izzy even think that he loved Heather? It was crazy! They were friends! Sure, Heather was hot, maybe even one of the hottest girls around. They liked to watch similar things on tv despite what people would think; she was quite the horror movie fan in secret. They also could relate to things off of the superficial level of interest. They came from abusive homes, and oftentimes would remind one another that they were more than what their parents said. They could understand the aggressive nature of one another and where it really stemmed from. Whenever either would sink to that level, the other would help them calm down. But.. that was because they were friends!
Duncan crashed against his couch, sitting down with Bruiser. He locked at the clock and knew it would soon be time for Dance Dads to come on. He sighed as he looked at the cat. "I guess it's going to just be us tonight buddy," he said to the feline, "Your mom is off with Alejandro."
Bruiser let out a hiss at the name. "I agree," Duncan nodded as he reached for the remote, looking for something to watch. It felt weird to watch Dance Dads without Heather- no matter how badly he wanted to see what happens this week.
At that moment, the front door opened and Heather walked in by herself? "I am a genius," she loudly boasted, "guess who has a date tomorrow! Come on, guess."
Duncan turned towards her, forcing a smirk to appear on his face to appear teasing. "You and Alejandro?"
"Ew no." She rolled her eyes as she dropped her purse down, "I told you, we're just friends. But, I did set him up with Noah."
Duncan's eyebrows furrowed at her statement, "Noah? That.. what?"
"Yes, Noah Noah." She confirmed to him that it was indeed their old fellow contestant, "I was so blind back on the show and didn't even notice that they used to flirt! So, me and Alejandro kept going to this coffee shop that Noah works at, and after a lot of begging, Alejandro finally asked him out. I was surprised that Noah didn't laugh in his face, he was a blushing mess."
"Where is Alejandro then?" Duncan asked, slowly connecting the dots. Heather wasn't ignoring him the past few days, she was just focused on setting Alejandro up.
"He offered to take Noah out to eat at some Indian cuisine place that was right down the street and walk him home. Noah said it was a pre-date try out." Heather moved to sit on the couch next to Duncan. "I would have tagged along, but I had a pretty hot Dance Dads date I couldn't pass up."
Duncan felt himself smile at her words. She wanted to come home to him? "Well, get settled missy." He changed the channel, "we have to see if David's daughter continues her winning streak or not."
"Ugh, Melanie is such a basic dancer. She doesn't deserve all the praise she gets." Heather let out a scoff as she leaned comfortably back against the cushions.
Well after the episode ended, Heather and Duncan changed out of their normal clothes, took their showers, got into their pajamas, and met back up at the couch to hang out. Currently, Duncan was showing Heather all of his tattoos. He wasn't sure if it was the strong scent of lavender from her body wash, or what Izzy said earlier just haunting him, but he couldn't help but notice just how close they sat together. Though, the weirdest part was the fact that he didn't mind.
"Okay, so what about this one," she said, pointing to the tattoo on his bicep. It was a snake wrapped around a knife. "What was the meaning of it?"
"Well, the knife was my carving knife." He explained, looking down at the tattoo in question, "I used it a lot on the island when I got bored. Plus carving with it helped me realize I actually might have a steady enough hand to become a tattoo artist. Then the snake was my first pet, Medusa."
Heather couldn't help but chuckle at him. She leaned her head to rest on the top of the couch, "So, that spider web tattoo on your hand isn't the only memorial tattoo you have for a pet?"
Duncan looked down at his right hand where a small spider web tattoo laid in the fatty tissue between his pointer finger and his thumb. "This may also be in honor of a pet, Scruffy."
Heather reached over and took his hand, inspecting the spider web tattoo for herself. "Did it hurt to get a hand tattoo?" She held his hand, looking at it in confusion.
Duncan shrugged, "It wasn't too bad since there is no bone right there, just fat I think." He let out a little chuckle as she inspected the spiderweb. "But, I think one day I'll get a tattoo on my left ring finger."
"Oh, the wedding finger," Heather teased him, letting go of his hand. "What were you thinking of getting? Your future wife's name?"
Duncan let out a small laugh at the very idea of getting a name on him. It was a huge no no rule as far as tattoos went. "Nah. You know, one time I went to a psychic-."
"No fucking way!" Heather leaned back as a loud cackle flew out of her mouth, "You went to a psychic?"
"Shut up!" He gently shoved her shoulder with his hand, "Geoff wanted to try one out and DJ was too chicken to go in case she said anything bad. But, she told me I would be destined to marry a girl named after a flower. So, I figured, if it was true, I'd get a flower on my finger and have it go up my hand."
"I was actually named after a flower," Heather stated matter of factly.
Duncan shook his head with a laugh, "You're such a liar."
Heather showed an expression of mock hurt. "I am not! When my mom got pregnant, this pink flower overtook the backyard since my Baba grabbed the wrong seed pack to plant. The scent would be the only thing that calmed her nausea while pregnant. So, she named me after the flower and it was named Heather."
Duncan smirked at the idea of Heather, who could be described as many things, but a flower wouldn't be one of them, being named after such a delicate thing. "So, I'm guessing this means you love that flower then? Or, are you basic and prefer roses like everyone else?"
"For your information," she leaned forward, poking a hard finger into his chest. "I do like my namesake, but it's not my favorite. I also hate the smell of roses. Alejandro kept giving them to me whenever we dated, and I felt so bad because I kept having to put them in other rooms."
Duncan also leaned towards again, now curious. He truly did like learning new things about Heather, she kept surprising him with her interest. "Then what is your favorite?"
Heather tossed her hair over her shoulder. Therefore, making the scent of lavender go heavy in the air again. "Cherry blossoms." She answered quickly, "We have a cherry blossom tree in the backyard of my house, and I've just always loved the smell of them."
"Cherry blossoms." Duncan repeated making sure to write a mental note of that down. "I've heard that they're very soothing."
"They are," she agreed. "I used to sit under it when I was a kid to read. I just enjoy how pretty they are and the scent."
Duncan gave a slow nod of his head. "I wouldn't have suspected that. You surprise me every day, Queenie."
Heather sent him a smirk at his words. "You should know to always be on your toes around me."
When Alejandro walked in from his night out with Noah, who finally agreed to a full date, the only thing he could hear was the television blasting some crappy reality tv content. He stepped into the living room and saw the two roommates sleeping on the couch. Duncan was laying out across the cushions, with Heather sleeping right in the crook of his arm. The pair looked far more intimate than they ever looked when they were awake. He hated to wake either of them, but he didn't want to just sleep on the floor. Plus, he was sure both of them would wake up with an ache in the neck if he didn't warn them. So, he moved forward and gently tapped Duncan. "Duncan," he whispered, "wake up."
The punk man stirred momentarily before opening his eyes, "Oh shit. My bad man." He looked around to gain his bearings, but he was even more surprised to feel a weight on his chest. Heather let out a soft hum as she slept, clearly not wanting to move due to wrapping an arm around Duncan. "Here, I'll uh.. I'll take her to bed." He stood up carefully, scooping Heather into his arms.
"It's no problem," Alejandro shook his head, getting ready to put the pull out bed down. "You know, I'll be off tomorrow with Noah." Duncan turned around at that, still holding Heather bridal style in his arms. "Then my flight leaves the next morning. So, I won't be able to go to this movie she wanted to see in theatres tomorrow. Maybe you guys should go."
Duncan curled an eyebrow upward when Alejandro began. However, when he finished a small flash of recognition crossed Duncan's face. "The new Scrollsaw movie?"
"Sí!" Alejandro snapped his fingers, "That's it! I am not much of a fan of horror movies anyway."
Duncan glanced at Heather and smiled. He knew it was her favorite franchise, she even said it back during her world tour interview. "Yeah, I think it'll be fun for us. Night, Alejandro."
He turned around, hearing Alejandro also wish him a good night, heading to Heather's room. He used his hip to bop the door open. He walked into the room and gently laid her down on the bed. Duncan reached around to pull her covers over her. He gave her a look over and sighed. Izzy was crazy. He couldn't be in love with Heather- he shouldn't. She would chew him up and spit him out like it was nothing. But, it didn't matter, because it wasn't true. Izzy had no idea what she was talking about.
Izzy was a nut ball anyway.
