Chapter 4: An Angel... OF DEATH!

Marcy was sitting in a chair, swinging her legs happily as she gazed outside the window.

It had been a while since she departed Newtopia with the Plantars and Anne, and she was already so happy to be on this trip.

Not only was she able to get to know the Plantars better, but she got to spend a lot of time with Anne now too!

Double win!

Speaking of Anne, she was currently taking a short break from driving the Fwagon.

"So, we should be able to get back to Wartwood sometime tomorrow." Anne explained.

"Oh cool! …Feels like it went by a lot quicker this time though." Sprig pointed out.

"Probably because we didn't go on any wacky adventures this time around." Polly pointed out.

"Yeah, I guess that makes sense." Sprig said. "Say Anne…"

Sprig never got to ask the question on his mind though, as when he looked at Anne, he saw her and Marcy, with arms wrapped around each other's shoulders, giggling like lovestruck buffoons.

"Ugh, seriously?! Can't you two detach from for ten seconds?!" Polly asked. "It's so sweet it is physically hurting me!"

"Sorry, but I was driving for a good five hours!" Anne said. "I need my Mar-Mar cuddles after that!"

"And I am more than happy to supply!" Marcy said as she pulled Anne closer.

"Maybe you won't need to do this if you, oh I don't know, LET MARCY DRIVE?!" Polly shouted.

"…She makes a good point Anne, why don't I take the reigns for a bit?" Marcy asked.

Anne responded by getting up, going over to a nearby shelf, pulled out a massive book, and dropped it onto the table in front of them.

"Sorry Marcy, but you need to read this whole thing first!" Anne said.

Marcy… looked astonished.

"Wait, you read this whole thing?!" Marcy asked.

"Yup! It's Bessie's whole history! I love that snail to death!" Anne said with pride.

"Well then, I'll get started on this right away!" Marcy said as she turned to the first page.

"Uh, actually, can you hold on a second?" Sprig asked before Marcy could get into it.

"What's up?"

"There's been something bothering me for a bit, and I wanted to ask you about it." Sprig explained.

"Sure! Ask away!" Marcy said with a smile.

"Well, I was just curious really… how exactly did you fall for Anne anyways?" Sprig asked.

That question, caught everyone's attention.

"Oh! That… wow, that's a story." Marcy said with a smile.

"Well, tell us Mar-Mar! Tell us what exactly made you fall head over heels for me." Anne said with a smirk.

Marcy laughed slightly before looking at the group.

"Alright… where do I begin…" Marcy started. "I guess I can start by saying that this happened because of my last boyfriend."

"Ugh, that jerk?!" Anne said. "I am so glad you broke up with him a few months before we got here! Dude acted like he owned you!"

"Uh… Anne?"

"Yeah?"

"That was well over a year before we got here…" Marcy pointed out.

"… Wait really?" Anne asked before thinking a bit. "Oh wow you're right!"

"Wait, so what happened?" Sprig asked.

"Well…"

Over a Year Prior

Marcy was walking through the halls of school, muttering to herself.

She had just started dating this boy, Charlie, a week ago and she was already having second thoughts about it.

Yeah sure, she liked him at first, but it quickly became apparent that he really only cared about using her for her smarts.

From asking her to help him study, to doing an entire project for him, and finally, the biggest red flag, asking her to help him cheat on a math test.

Sasha and Anne once told her that if any of her boyfriends asked her to do that, to bail as soon as possible.

That had happened just the night before, and Marcy was now frantically looking for Anne, hoping her bestie can help her break up with this guy.

What she didn't count on though, was Charlie finding her first.

"Hey Mar-Mar! You think about what I asked you last night?" Charlie asked.

"… That nickname is for only Anne and Sasha to use, and you know it…" Marcy pointed out.

"Psh, whatever. Back to my question though."

Looking around, Marcy really hoped she would spot Anne among the crowd…

She didn't.

So, she decided to try and delay her answer.

"Sorry, but I need a bit more time to think about it…"

"No can do! Math is my next class! So I need your notes now!" Charlie explained rather fiercely.

And Marcy was sunk. She had no way out of this now…

"Sorry… but I… I'm not gonna help you cheat." Marcy said timidly.

"What?! Are you serious right now?" Charlie asked. "Don't you care about me at all?"

Marcy swallowed thickly at that. She REALLY hoped he wouldn't bring up their relationship in this conversation.

With Anne nowhere in sight, she had no choice but to do this herself.

"… Not… not any more…" Marcy said.

"… Excuse me?"

"You… you only dated me to use me." Marcy pointed out. "And… and I don' want any part of that."

"… Are you breaking up with me?!" Charlie shouted.

That got everyone in the hall's attention.

"… Y-yeah… I am…"

Then, Charlie did something Marcy never expected.

She expected him to just shout at her and storm off…

Not grab her and shove her into the wall!

"I don't think you understand Marcy… You can NOT break up with me." Charlie said angrily.

"I… I just… I just did…"

"No, you didn't." Charlie said. "Now, you are gonna stop the jokes, and help me pass my test or I swear I'll…"

He didn't finish that sentence.

The good thing about this confrontation gathering so much attention, was that plenty of people knew what was going on…

And one person in particular just so happened to turn the corner, curious as to what was going on.

Charlie was suddenly tackled to the floor, letting go of Marcy in the process.

When Marcy looked up, she saw the most glorious thing in the world.

"You keep your dirty hands off of her you jerk!" Anne shouted.

Suddenly, she was being helped up by someone else.

"Hey Mar-Mar, you alright?" Sasha asked.

"Y-yeah..." Marcy said, unable to take her eyes off Anne.

And the cheesiest love song Marcy knew of just started playing in her head, and Marcy could of sworn that Anne was glowing, with sparkles flashing around her.

Charlie in the meantime, just scurried to his feet, and ran away.

"What a jerk… treating you like that." Anne said with a huff. "You alright Marcy?"

Marcy… didn't respond right away.

"…An Angel…" Marcy said with stars in her eyes.

"… I'm sorry?" Anne asked, clearly hearing Marcy.

Without knowing why, Marcy began to panic, and blurted out the first thing she could think of.

"OF DEATH!" Marcy shouted. "You're like an Angel of Death! Coming out of no-where and tackling that jerk like that!"

"Pfft, YEAH I AM!" Anne said with pride. "If anyone tries to hurt my friend, then they have to face me, the Angel of Death!"

The three girls then started laughing a bit.

However, something only Sasha seemed to notice, was just how red Marcy's face had been.

"Huh… about time she realized it…" Sasha said under her breath.

"Huh? You say something Sash?" Marcy asked.

"Oh nothing." Sasha said. "Now come on, we gotta get to class."

And with that, the three girls went on their way, though Marcy just couldn't get Anne out of her head.

"Aww!" Polly said, earning a look from the others. "I mean uh… How cool! Anne tackled that dude for you! Yeah!"

"Anyways… that guy was a real jerk!" Sprig pointed out.

"Yeah well, he got suspended for a week after that, so he got what was coming to him." Anne pointed out.

"That and a sick TACKLE!" Polly pointed out.

"Yeah, and a sick tackle." Marcy said with a fond smile. "Anyways, I pretty much decided to swear off dating any boys after that…"

"But not girls." Sprig pointed out.

"Bingo!" Marcy said with a smile.

"To think though, the whole 'Angel of Death' nickname came from the same thing that made Marcy fall for you, Anne." Sprig pointed out.

"Yeah, pretty weird." Anne said before getting up and stretching. "Alright, I think it's high time I went and kept Hop Pop company up there."

"Awww…" Marcy said sadly.

"I'll be back down in a couple of hours." Anne said with a yawn.

It was clear that the long hours of driving were starting to get to her.

"Alright, I better get to reading so I can help you guys!" Marcy said with a smile.

"Right, that would be appreciated." Anne said with a smile.

And with that, Anne went back up above, ready to continue the long trek back to Wartwood.

The End.

I know I said that the first The Fourth Light one shot was going to be next, but I had the idea for this one and I wanted to put it out. That being said, the next one shot is ready, but I decided to wait a bit on it. It'll be releasing the morning of the Amphibia Finale!

Before you guys ask though, this is not connected to the previous one shot, that is going to be it's own thing, and will not be continued. Really, everything just continues down the same exact path, the only difference being how Anne and Marcy got together.

Finally, if you are wondering what song I think was playing in Marcy's head, I would say "Suddenly" by Billy Ocean… but specifically the cover by TeamFourStar.

Anyways, the next one shot should be Crossing Paths, unless I think of something else before then! See you then!
