Chapter 2
The Assassin, The Lizard and the Child
It had been two weeks since my disastrous mission to Naboo. In that time, I had logged countless hours into the flight sim, as well as studied military strategies so that what happened would never be repeated.
Today I was participating in an obstacle course being run by my Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi along with my fellow Padawan Ahsoka. Master Kenobi was teaching us the value of an elevated position in battle. We set off, occasionally using the Force to get ahed. Although it was close I managed to win and I couldn't resist gloating a little, telling Ahsoka it was over now that I had the high ground, to which Master Kenobi had to remind me that a Jedi was humble.
Just then we recieved word that the Jedi Council had summoned us both along with Gaar who was apprehensive about it due to our previous mission still weighing heavily on his mind.
Upon reaching the council chambers we were told that the child of a prominent senator had been abducted and the kidnappers were believed to be hiding on the fourth moon of the Yavin system.
Upon making our way to the hangar, Ahsoka made a comment about the state of my ship and we discovered that DD-3PO had been reassigned to join us for the duration of our mission. With all of us safely secured in the cockpit, I noticed the look in my friend's eyes and decided I needed to get DD out of the cockpit before the Wookiee inevitably crushed him in an attempt to get some peace and quiet. I immediately volunteered the droid to show Ahsoka around the ship which I have no doubt was the most boring thing she will ever experience. Truly we must have messed up really bad to be assigned such an eccentric droid. Preparations completed and having taken off we left Coruscant behind and jumped to hyperspace.
We arrived at Yavin IV and disembarked from the ship whilst the droids were instructed to remain inside. We quickly met up with two Scout Troopers who told us that the youngling was most likely being held in the old temple and security was pretty lax, nothing but a small patrol.
I came up with a plan but before we could set off we were ambushed of a sort by Gaar's sister Warrroonchor who we knew was stationed in the system. Much to our surprise she was not actually a Wookiee. She was instead a human girl clad in furs and was able to speak both Basic and Shyriiwook. Before we could fully process this new development, we were attacked by a small group consisting of four Battle Droids.
We ignited our lightsabers, Ahsoka and I blocking the blaster fire whilst Gaar held back, his chosen combat form unsuitable for deflecting blaster bolts.
One of the droids was destroyed by Ashoka's deflected blaster bolts whilst the other three displayed an unusual level of intelligence and actually took cover. They were joined by some kind of automated carrier droid that dispensed heavier ordinance including a shoulder mounted rocket launcher and a heavy weapons platform with a mounted rapid fire blaster turret which two droids began building.
The third droid broke cover and sent a missile our way. Before it could reach us however, Ahsoka and I used The Force to redirect the missile towards the heavy weapons platform which was destroyed along with the droids who were building it.
I leapt forward with my lightsaber and eviscerated the remaining droid.
With the droids all destroyed the six of us made our way to the temple which we discovered had been fortified in response to our presence. I decided we should split into two teams. Gaar, Warrr and one of the clones, Waxer, would assault the front a d provide a distraction whilst Ahsoka, Boil and I would sneak around the back.
After dealing with the sole droid guarding the rear, we made our way to the main part of the temple where we discovered a Trandoshan was the kidnapper. What was more surprising was that the Trandoshan was not a simple mercenary but actually part of the Separatist army.
As soon as he saw us he ordered his Super Battle Droids to fire their wrist rockets though quickly ordered a ceasefire and introduced himself as Jit-Krel. It seemed he wanted to negotiate. The youngling in exchange for complete knowledge of all Republic forces in the system. It was smart. I initially agreed with the intent to double cross Krel the second my droid got access to his console. Whilst we waited for R2 I asked why he had gotten involved.
Ahsoka decided to do some snooping under the guise of needed the bathroom. Krel sent her to his office along with a guard. She clearly didn't find anything as she came back alone and accused Krel of lying which apparently offended him as he regurgitated the Mon Calamari child.
Before negotiations could break down further, my brother Freskote appeared. His sole purpose there seemed to be agitating Krel and a fight quickly broke out between them. Not one to look a gift bantha in the mouth, we picked up the youngling and charged out, beheading one of the battle droids as we ran past on our way back to the ship. Once we reached the ship, I charged up to the cockpit and began an emergency take off.
Warrr had asked if all of our missions were "sneaky, stealing and dangerous". I bragged that the ship could get us in and out like ghosts and quickly realized that Ghost was a cool name for a ship.
When we arrived back on Coruscant, I instructed the engineers to make some modifications to the ship so she could better fit the ghost moniker I had given her. Warrr and the clones headed off to debrief leaving us three with the youngling. Not quite knowing who to deliver him to, we decided to go bother the most important man on the planet.
Quite how three Padawans were able to even see the Supreme Chancellor I have no idea.
It wasn't until the elevator ride back down that I dwelt on that the Chancellor had said about us exceeding expectations purely by completing the mission. Luckily, they were there to stop me focusing on my anxieties and just concentrate on completing all future missions to the best of our abilities.
