Chapter 4: Flynn + Gemma

Flynn was waiting for Gemma to arrive. She was meeting him at their favorite restaurant after she was done with an eagle squad mission. Since they defeated Venjix, Flynn worked with his dad to build new computer systems for Corinth which they completed it, for the most part, a year ago. (It has been about two years since they defeated Venjix.). There have still been plenty of bugs with the system that they've had to fix, but it has actually been working better than they expected. Gemma has been working hard as part of the eagle squad since she joined after Venjix's defeat. After one of her missions, she always tries to sneak away to spend time with Flynn. The two of them had been secretly dating for about a year now. They both developed feelings for each other while they were rangers, but it took them a while to reveal their feelings to each other. The reason they've been secretly dating is simple...Gem. Gemma has been worried how Gem will react if he found out that she was dating Flynn. Gem and Gemma have been almost inseparable for forever. Gem doesn't really like it when Gemma starts spending a lot of time with other people. She normally barely manages to slip past him when sneaking away to meet Flynn. Flynn remembers when they worked on the Road Attack Zord together and Flynn had asked Gemma if she wanted to work on something else with him later. Gem kept Gemma away from him for a week after that. Gemma's fear of her brother's reaction was justified, Flynn knew, but it still wasn't easy to keep their relationship a secret.

Flynn looked up and saw Gemma walking in. "Sorry I'm late," Gemma said as she sat down at the table Flynn was at. "The mission took longer than expected."

"It's alright," Flynn said. "I'm just glad you're here. Happy Valentine's Day."

"Happy Valentine's Day."

"How was the mission?"

"It was good. We're just trying to make sure that it's not possible for Venjix to come back now. After Scott had to go to another dimension to stop Venjix because he came back, we want to make sure that there's no chance Venjix will come back."

"That's good. We don't need him taking down another computer system, especially since me and my dad worked so hard on it."

"I know you did and it's working really well."

Flynn decided to ask Gemma a question that he had probably asked her a million times by now. "When are we going to tell Gem about us?"

"Eventually," Gemma said. "But not yet. I don't want him to ban you from seeing me because he doesn't like the fact that I have a boyfriend."

"We have to tell him soon. It's hard to sneak around without anybody finding out just to make sure Gem doesn't find out. My dad has been telling me that I need a girlfriend and I have a girlfriend, but nobody knows I do."

Gemma nodded. "I know. It's not easy for me either, but I don't want Gem to force us to break up."

"How do you know he will? Maybe he's more mature now and will understand that you're happy. It will make our lives a lot easier if he knows."

Gemma sighed. "You're probably right."

"Why don't we finish dinner and then go tell him together?"

Gemma nodded again. "Ok."

The two ordered their food and continued talking all through their dinner. They talked about a lot of different things. One major topic of conversation was some projects that Flynn was working on, and Gemma offered to help him out in her free time or her days off. She always liked to help him out with his projects whenever she could. It reminded her of when she first started developing feelings for the Scottish ranger. When they worked on the Road Attack Zord together and Gemma learned that Flynn is not a simple mechanic. Their relationship had grown so much since that time. She didn't know what she was feeling back then, but now, if she had to use one word to describe it, it would be love. She loved Flynn. There was no doubt about it. They were perfect for each other. That was also why she was so nervous about Gem forcing her and Flynn to break up. She didn't want that to happen. At all. But Flynn was also right. She had to tell her brother.

After dinner, they started walking through Corinth. They were going to tell Gem and they were both nervous. How would he react to Flynn dating his sister?

"What have you two been doing?" a voice asked from behind them and Flynn and Gemma both froze as they recognized that voice. They turned around and were faced with the person they were going to see.

"Gem!" Gemma said. "We were just going to find you. What are you doing?"

"I was looking for you. I was trying to figure out why you've been sneaking out so much and then I found you with Flynn."

"Gem!" another voice said as he was running up to Gem.

"Hi Scott," Gem said. His eyes never left Flynn and Gemma.

"I told you to leave Gemma alone. She probably had her reasons for sneaking away." Scott looked at who Gem was talking to and saw that it was Flynn and Gemma. "Looks like you found her and with...Flynn. On Valentine's Day." Scott was piecing everything together faster than Gem was. "Are you two together?"

Gem's eyes widened. "You two?!"

"We are," Gemma said and grabbed Flynn's hand. "We have been for a while."

"Why didn't you tell me?!"

"I was worried about how you would react."

"Well, it has always been us! And now you're with him!" Gem pointed to Flynn.

"Hey!" Flynn said. "I really care about her!"

"Gem, please," Gemma begged for her brother to calm down.

"How could-"

Scott cut Gem off. "Gem, look how happy they are together."

Gem looked over at Flynn and Gemma who were still holding hands. For the first time in his life, he started thinking about how he can't keep his sister to himself forever. He never thought about the possibility of one of them ending up in a relationship before. It did scare him not to have Gemma by him all the time, but it scared him even more to lose his sister forever because he split her up from someone she really cared about. "I'm sorry," Gem said. "I guess I didn't expect you to get a boyfriend and I'm sorry if I made you feel like you couldn't tell me."

"It's ok. I'm glad you know now," Gemma said.

"Can we tell everyone now?" Flynn asked his girlfriend.

"Yes."

Flynn pulled Gemma in for a kiss.

"I'm letting you have a boyfriend. Please don't do that in front of me." Flynn and Gemma pulled apart and laughed at Gem's reaction to them kissing. Well, at least Gem knows now.
