Chapter 6: Orion + Emma
Emma was sitting in Ernie's BrainFreeze and eating her frozen yogurt. A lot has happened recently. Being a power ranger for the last couple of years has been hard and draining. Luckily, they had just defeated the Armada, but now she was worried that she was going to have to say goodbye to Orion...again. Right before the Armada launched a full invasion on Earth, Orion had been planning to go back to his home planet to rebuild. She hated that she had to say goodbye to him. When he joined the team, she never thought that he would leave. How naïve was she to think that? Earth isn't his home. Her feelings for him also didn't help with that. When he first arrived, she was nice to him because she's nice to everyone. Her feelings for him started to develop the more she got to know him. Her feelings got stronger when she was working with Orion to fight the monster who was stealing happiness from humans. She couldn't bear to say goodbye to him again.
She has seen how happy Jake and Gia are now that they're together and she wishes that she could have something like that with Orion. If he leaves again, that won't be able to happen, which just made Emma even more sad. She has never met anyone like Orion, and she probably never will. She just can't seem to tell him how she feels. The closest she got was giving him a kiss on the cheek when she had to say goodbye to him before.
Emma was so consumed by her thoughts that she didn't notice someone sit down next to her. "Hey Emma," the person said.
Emma quickly turned her head to see who was sitting next to her and saw that it was the person she was just thinking about. "Hey," she responded.
"What's Valentine's Day?" Orion asked.
Emma wasn't expecting Orion to ask her that. "What?"
"I heard a lot of people talking about today being Valentine's Day and I'm not familiar with Earth holidays, so I was wondering if you could tell me what Valentine's Day is."
She forgot for a second that Orion wouldn't know what Valentine's Day is. "Oh well, it's a special day celebrating romance," Emma explained. "Couples get each other special gifts and like to go out to dinner or go see a movie. You can ask the person you like if they'll be your valentine which is like admitting your feelings to them."
"Ok," Orion said and started thinking. There was a girl that he kind of had a crush on and he hasn't been sure how to tell her. Today was Valentine's Day. A day of romance. It would be the perfect day to tell her, but he doesn't know if she likes him back. He really hopes she does. "Do you, you know, have a valentine?"
"No, I don't," Emma said.
Orion thought for a minute about what to say next. "What would you do if you liked someone, but you didn't know how to tell them or if they liked you back? Would you tell them or not?"
"I'm not the best person to ask for this," Emma replied.
"Come on. I'm sure you have a good opinion on this. You've had good opinions about other things I've asked you."
"It's just...there is a guy I like, and I want to tell him, but I don't know if he likes me back and every time, I try to tell him..." Emma trailed off and sighed. "I just can't tell him." She looked away from Orion.
Orion nodded and took a deep breath. "Emma, will you be my valentine."
Emma quickly whipped her head around to face Orion again. She wanted to make sure she heard that correctly. "What did you just say?"
Orion grabbed her hand. "I like you. When I came here after the Armada attacked my planet, I was alone and never thought that I would be able to be happy again. You changed that. You were always so nice and showed me how to fit in on Earth. I would've been lost if I hadn't met you. You are so amazing, and I should've told you sooner. So, will you be my valentine?"
Emma couldn't believe what Orion just said. He...likes her. That's what she has wanted for a while now, but it won't matter since he's going to leave. She doesn't want to be his valentine just so he could turn around and leave her. "I like you too," Emma admitted. "But we can't be together. I live here on Earth and you're going to be going back to Andresia once you fix the Armada ship you crash landed on Earth. Twice."
Orion smiled at what Emma just said.
"Why are you smiling?" Emma asked confused.
"Because I was just thinking," Orion said.
"Thinking about what?"
"What if I don't fix that Armada ship?"
Emma didn't really understand what Orion was trying to tell her. "If you don't fix that ship, how will you get home?"
Orion laughed. "I was actually thinking about not going back to Andresia. I have a new home now and I don't want to leave. I want to stay here with the team that stuck beside me and helped me adjust to a new planet...and with you."
Emma smiled. He wanted to stay! That was what she wanted, but she also knew that she didn't want to be the reason that he wasn't able to go home. "If you're staying just for me, I'll be fine if you-"
Orion cut her off. "I'm staying for all of you, but I also can't imagine never seeing you again." Orion put his hand on Emma's cheek and the two leaned in and kissed.
"Finally. I thought they'd never get together."
"Don't ruin the moment, Jake."
Orion and Emma broke apart and saw Jake and Gia watching them.
"How long have you two been here?" Orion asked.
"Long enough to know that Orion's staying and you two are dating," Gia said. "But now, we can go on a double date."
All of them smiled. Orion and Emma had a lot to figure out for their relationship, but they were happy knowing that they both had feelings for each other.
A/N: I hope you enjoyed!
