Sweeter Than Chocolate
Disclaimer: I do not own Kyou Kara Maou!
The sound of quills scratching against paper filled the office, but not the king's brain. A stupid little red box covered in obnoxious pink hearts sat innocently on the desk next to him, and honestly, he didn't know why he brought it to the office with him. The implications of it were consuming his thoughts.
One might be tempted to believe that Yuuri had received this rather…vibrant box of handmade chocolate from a girl. In fact, they wouldn't be wrong at all if they said this. The only problem with that statement was that it failed to imply that said girl was actually his own mother. His own mother who, in handing this to him, tightly wrapped up for the trip across worlds, had done much winking and teasing and hinting at the idea that there was someone in Yuuri's life that he should be giving chocolate to.
That was the problem, though. She was right. However, he simply lacked the skills to make something like this for the beautiful blond soldier that had taken the title of his most important person, and it wasn't like making chocolate was easy in this world. It takes more time than Gwendal would ever give him away from his desk, and Wolfram had only ever sought the highest quality of everything he ever purchased. Anything Yuuri's unskilled hands ever made wouldn't be up to his standards.
Yuuri stared down at the dampened box. It got kind of wet on the way there… It tasted fine, but it was definitely better when he tried a bit on Earth… Yuuri would love to give Wolfram such a gift, but honestly, he didn't know what to do, and Wolf was worth way more than store bought chocolate. The implications for store bought and handmade chocolate wasn't even the same, and besides, Valentine's Day was today, anyway, so it's not like he had the time to organise things now.
Seeking some sort of distraction, Yuuri flipped the lid off the box, quickly broke off a piece of chocolate from the bar, and popped it in his mouth, picking up the warm notes of vanilla despite the water damage. Sucking on the chocolate for lack of anything better to do, his quill hovered over the paper, his mind still intently on Wolfram, and-
"You said that Mama Jennifer made that, right?"
Yuuri started. He hadn't even noticed Wolfram looking at him. He must have gotten his attention when he opened the chocolate. It makes sense, Yuuri thought with a sense of amusement. It was like Wolfram came equipped with a sweet-locating radar. Yuuri shifted the chocolate between his lips, meeting Wolfram's beautiful gaze.
"Yeah. Don't call her that, though. It's weird. She's weird," Yuuri grumbled, though not without a hint of mirth that didn't seem to go undetected by his fiancé.
"Can I try a bit?" Wolfram asks, standing up suddenly. Yuuri shrugged as Wolfram began to stride across the room, not even waiting for an answer. His playful mood seemed to get the better of him, and a cheeky smile made its way onto his face, perfectly framed by his beautiful, messy golden hair. Yuuri looked down to pick up the box, ready to hold it out to Wolfram.
"I mean, yeah, but it got a bit waterlogged on the way here. The plastic wrap must have slipped and-"
A finger and thumb tilted Yuuri's chin upwards and soft lips surrounded the chocolate sticking from Yuuri's mouth, pressing against Yuuri's lips and bringing a sweet taste and warm feeling that far surpassed his mother's chocolate. Yuuri's eyes closed as a warm hand pressed against his cheek, the thumb gently rubbing back and forth along his jaw. A tongue licked at Yuuri's lips and he gave it entry without thinking, his mind going well and truly blank.
As Yuuri felt the other party begin to pull back, he found himself following as they pulled away, and his eyes fluttered open, leaving him blinking up at Wolfram who looked far too pleased with himself, his beautiful lake bottom green eyes twinkling with mirth, and his usually-pale cheeks lightly dusted with rosy pink.
What do you even say after something like that…? Yuuri thought to himself, his mind so dazed that he barely registered his tongue subconsciously searching around his mouth. His voice sounded quiet and squeaky to his ears as the only words his addled brain could think to say escaped his lips without thinking.
"You stole my chocolate."
Wolfram playfully stuck out his chocolate-covered tongue as he turned away, swallowing what he'd stolen.
"You told me I could have it."
Yuuri felt everything from his cheeks to the tips of his ears turning crimson. He'd just been contemplating whether it was even possible to get Wolfram a gift.
How was it that Wolfram managed to turn it around and give him such a sweet one, instead…?
