Chapter 7: Smurfing out
Disclaimer: I do not own The Smurfs, they are owned by Peyo. I only Hector, Emily, and Cindy because they're my OCs. SmurfAggie appears courtesy of I. M. Rally. I also do not own the song and lyrics featured, some lyrics might be changed. Anyways, enjoy.
It was a nice, sunny day in Smurf Village, and everysmurf was having a smurfy day. Hefty and Smurfette's daughter, Cindy, was drawing a picture in her diary, when Hector showed up.
"Hey, Cindy. Whatcha doing?" asked Hector, causing Cindy to hide her diary behind her back.
"Nothing! Just drawing in my diary! You can go now!" Cindy stammered. She had a white smurf hat, a white leather jacket, a pink shirt, a blue skirt, brown hair in a ponytail, and white sneakers.
"What did you draw in your diary?" asked Hector, trying to get a look at the picture.
"Just a smurf I have a crush on, but it's my private diary so you shouldn't look at it," said Cindy. She then ran to her house, but she forgot her diary, to which Hector picked it up.
"I should probably give this back to Cindy. But I guess she won't mind if I took a peek at her drawing," thought Hector. Lucky for him, it landed on the page with the drawing. He checked the drawing, and was shocked to see who was in the drawing. "Holy Smurf! It's not a boy… It's a girl!"
"I gotta tell someone!" said Hector. He then put the diary back on the ground, and ran to Emily.
Emily was reading a book called "Dragons of all nations" as research for Hector's dragon abilities, when Hector arrived.
"Emily! You won't believe what I saw in Cindy's diary!" said Hector.
"Why would you read her diary? That's an invasion of privacy," said Emily, as she put the book down.
"That's not the point! The point is that Cindy has a secret crush."
"Oh, really? Who's the lucky boy?" She then started to drink some water.
"That's the thing! It's not a boy… It's a girl!" That last part caused Emily to do a spit take with her water.
"Hang on! You mean she's gay?"
Hector nodded.
"Well, who's the lucky girl?"
"It's… Sassette!" That one name caused Emily to gasp.
"Does Sassette know about this?"
"Do I know about what?" asked Sassette, causing the duo to gasp. "What's going on?"
"Well, Sassette, someone in the village has a crush on you," said Hector.
"Oh, really, who is it? Is it Snappy?" asked Sassette, to which Hector and Emily shook their heads. "Well then who's the boy?"
"That's the thing. Cindy is the one with a crush on you," said Emily, causing Sassette to gasp. "You see, when someone likes someone who's the same gender as them, that's called being gay. Do you understand?"
"I think I do? I'm gonna talk to Smurfette and Hefty," said Sassette, who then went to Smurfette and Hefty's mushroom. Once she was there, she knocked on the door, to which Smurfette answered.
"Oh, hey Sassette. What's going on?" asked Smurfette, as she let Sassette inside.
"Hector and Emily told me that Cindy has a crush on me," said Sassette, as she and Smurfette sat on the couch.
"Oh, you found out," began Smurfette. "Well, the type of people you fall in love with is a choice you, and only you, can make. Cindy made her choice a while back, she just didn't know how to tell you. If you don't think people will accept you, just remember, it's your life, and it's your choice. Do you understand, Sassette?"
"I do now. Thanks, Smurfette. Do you know where I can find Cindy?" said Sassette.
"She said she'd be swimming in the lake, so check there. Oh, and wear your swimsuit, just in case," said Smurfette. Sassette nodded, and headed for her mushroom to get her swimsuit.
Later at the lake…
Cindy, who was now wearing a white one-piece swimsuit, was swimming in the lake, when she saw Sassette (in her pink one-piece swimsuit) walking towards her.
"Holy Smurf! It's her! Okay, Cindy, just play it cool!" thought Cindy, just as Sassette entered the lake. Cindy then turned around, and faced Sassette.
"Hey, Sassette. Fancy meeting you here," said Cindy.
"Hey, Cindy," said Sassette, before she quickly cut to the chase. "Look, Cindy, we've been friends for a few decades now, right?"
Cindy nodded.
"Well, Hector and Emily told me you have a crush on me. I didn't know what it meant, but then I learned that we make our own choices in life, which includes the people we love."
"Does this mean what I think it means?" The two girls got out of the lake, to which Sassette pulled out a guitar.
"If you don't believe me, believe our favorite song."
You Are the Music in Me by Troy and Gabriella
Sassette: Na na na na
Na na na na yeah
You are the music in me
You know the words
"Once upon a time"
Make you listen?
There's a reason
Sassette & Cindy: When you dream (Sassette: there's a) chance you'll find
Sassette: A little (Sassette & Cindy: laughter)
Or a happy (Sassette & Cindy: ever after)
Both: Your harmony to the melody
It's echoing inside my head
Cindy: A single voice
Sassette: Single voice
Cindy: Above the noise
Both: And like a common thread
Sassette: Hm, you're pulling me
Cindy: When I hear my favorite song
I know that we belong
Sassette: Oh, you are the music in me
Yeah it's living in both of us
Cindy: And it's brought us here because (Sassette: because)
Both: You are the music in me
Cindy: It's like I knew you before we met
Sassette: Before we met
Cindy: Can't explain it (Sassette: Ooh Ooh)
There's no name for it (Sassette: No name for it)
Both: I'm singing words I never said
Sassette: And it's so easy (Cindy: So easy)
Because you see the new me (Cindy: I see)
Sassette: As I am you (Both: understand)
Both: That's more than I've ever known
Cindy: To hear your voice (Sassette: hear your voice)
Cindy: Above the noise (Sassette: Oh oh)
Both: And no, I'm not alone
Cindy: Oh you're singing to me (Sassette: oh yeah)
Both: When I hear my favorite song
I know that we belong (Sassette: yeah oh)
You are the music in me
It's living in both of us
And it's brought us here (Sassette: because)
You are the music in me
Together we're gonna sing (Sassette: yeah)
We got the power to sing
Sassette: That we feel (Cindy: What we feel)
Connected and real
Cindy: Can't keep it
Both: All inside (oh)
Both: Na na na na (oh yeah)
Na na na na na (oh yeah)
Yeah yeah yeah (na na na na)
You are the music in me (in me)
Na na na na (oh yeah)
Na na na na na (oh yeah)
Na na na na
You are the music in me
When I hear my favorite song (Sassette: favorite song)
I know that we belong (Cindy: we belong)
You are the music in me
Yeah it's living in both of us
It's brought us here because (here because)
You are the music in me
Na na na na
Na na na na
Na na na na
You are the music in me (Sassette: yeah)
Once they stopped singing, they kissed on the lips. It took them five minutes, but they then noticed Hector, Emily, Snappy, Slouchy, and Nat staring at them.
"What? You've never seen two people kiss before?" asked Cindy.
"Yeah, but not of the same gender, not that I'm complaining," said Hector.
"Wait, you're okay with me being gay?! I thought you hated gay people," said Cindy.
"No, I said I hate gay guys. That's why I used Vanity as an example," said Hector, causing everyone to chuckle. "We're just happy that you're happy."
"Thanks, now leave us alone, we've got a few private things to do," said Sassette, to which the others left. The two girls then continued their makeout session… until it was time for bed, but they still enjoyed the time they had.
I know I used to ship Snappy and Sassette, but I needed someone to have a gay relationship, and I think girl on girl is much cuter than guy on guy. Don't get me wrong, I like a good coming out story, I just think a girl coming out story is more likely to stir up controversy, especially if that girl isn't played by a gay actor (which Sassette isn't, nor Cindy, desired-wise anyway). Also, I wanted to join in on the 'bisexual canon character' trend, but not with Vanity because that's an obvious choice. Anyways, see you guys/girls/others later.
