3am, St John's hospital
Sitting down and against the wall of the corridor. Cradling his overwhelmed, frustrated and confused forehead with ten digit fingertips. The overcrowded hospital had finally quietened down after ten hours continuous chaos. Waiting for an explanation or possible results of what the sudden outbreak could be.
The bigger question was, how could it spread so quickly within a small community. Where did it come from, who created it and how did it spread through what.
Still unable to confirm exactly what, where, who and how. Slowly stood up to his feet and walked to the nurses desk, requested for a cup of water then finally a break through to the questions he had thought about.
"Doctor kirks, we may have an somewhat answer of how this could be spread like it had." a blood scientist stated.
Doctor kirks glanced the blood scientist and placed his cup down after taking a sip then said almost breathless. "Go on, I'm listening."
Presenting the papers with the configured results and explained briefly. "It is airborne, doctor kirks. And I think face masks should be worn at all times when near the infected patients including sanitize hands and wear protective gowns and gloves."
"Airborne?" Kirks whispered confused. Doctor Royce nodded. "Yes, doctor kirks. Airborne."
"Doctor, doctor." nurse ally approached doctor kirk's blindsided and he finally turned to face the nurse. "Yes nurse ally, what is the matter?" he asked, calmly.
"We are unable to provide the new patients with beds. All are occupied."
Doctor kirks eyes widened, disbelieving what he was informed. He was exhausted, so we're the other staff of the medical board onsite of the facility.
"Are you certain?" He asked. She nodded. "Yes, very certain."
"Provide comfort, any way and anyhow available."
Meanwhile, the mayor's office
The doors swung open, a man hurried in as the mayor shouted coherently demanded for answers. Unsure what was happening. "Somebody tell me what is going on out there? It is madness." mayor Neil charman bellowed.
"Sorry Mr mayor, the city has been swept by a unknown plague of some sort and no one knows what it is." secretary March replied. Grabbing his tie and lowly hissed. "Find someone who does."
"Right away, sir." secretary March obeyed and left the room. Neil charman lend back in his chair and lightly caressed his temples with frustration and worry. His phone rang. Glancing his phone a moment and he sat up, reached out then picked the reciever up. With one reply,VA soft reply he greeted. "Hello?"
"Mr mayor charman?" the mysterious voice asked. "This is the mayor, may I ask who you may be?"
"Who I am, isn't important but what is. Your duty is to protect the citizens of New York and I have the procedures to minimize the spread of infection."
"I'm listening and what is it in for me in return?" mayor charman asked.
