A/N: This chapter is going to, basically. be a recap for the first part of the movie. However, this where I will also introduce a new astromech. I mean, come on, it just won't be the same with a Skywalker who does not have a B.D.F. (best droid friend). Anyways, enjoy. And have a blessed bay.
The galaxy was in turmoil. The Trade Federation, in order to get their way with the Senate of the Republic, has put up a lethal blockade around the peaceful planet of Naboo. While the Senate continued negations, two Jedi were secretly sent by the Supreme Chancellor, of that time, in hopes of resolving this. The two Jedi were a master named Qui-Gon Jinn and his padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi. But what they didn't know was that the Trade Federation was covertly in league with one of the most dangerous men in the universe, or that there was a much bigger scheme in play.
Unfortunately, all did not go as planned. The Federation tried to kill the Jedi Knights with poisonous gas, as well as by sending in battle droids and shield generated destroyers. All the while the student and master attempted to get to the bridge of the space station. Sadly, with no success for they had to flee. It is when they reached the hanger bay that they discovered an invasion army, ready for an attack on Naboo. In need to warn the world below them and the Chancellor, they planned on sneaking abroad two different enemy ships to get planet side. Unbeknownst to them though, communication was cut off to prevent Naboo from communicating with the Senate.
Once down on the planet's surface, they had a chanced meeting with an amphibious creature, otherwise known as a Gungan, by the name of Jar Jar Binks. With his help the Jedi were led to a secret underwater city where the locals were not too fond of outsiders, and a place where Jar Jar grew up and was banished from. There they were able to gain transport thanks to some "persuasion" from Qui-Gon Jinn. And to save the banished Gungan's life from being punished for returning they took him with him to be their guide, for they would have to go through the planet's dangerous core.
However, when they reached the planet's capital city, they have discovered that the Trade Federation had already commence their invasion and kidnapped the queen to sign a treaty, which would make the whole invasion legal. They were able to rescue her though, along with others. Realizing that they would need the help of the Senate, the queen agreed to leave the planet with the Jedi to go to the capital of Coruscant to plead their case.
But during their escape through the Trade Federation's blockade, their ship's shield generator and hyperdrive were damaged. Thankfully though, due to two astromechs out of a whole group, which were sadly blasted away, the shield was repaired and they able to get away. Regretfully, they unable to fix the hyperdrive, for it was lost, and had no choice but to seek refuge in a different system, and one place seemed to be ideally suitable.
Once they were out of the Trade Federation's reach the Jedi, queen, her handmaidens, and the queen's head of security regrouped along with the two droids. "These two droids must've been amazingly put together, Your Majesty. For they've very well have saved our ship and our lives," the officer said to the queen.
"Then they are to be commended. What are their ID numbers?", the Naboian ruler requested.
The guard read their tags and then introduced them. "R2-D2," he said, pointing to the white bodied and silver dome headed astromech that had royal blue markings. "And R3-QT, Your Majesty," pointing to the other one that had a teal body with black markings and a black domed head with silver markings.
"You have my thanks, R2-D2 and R3-QT", her highness replied to them.
The two droids happily chirped back, "It was our pleasure."
"Padme'," the queen called up, and the handmaiden stepped forward. "Clean these two up as best as you can," she continued with a smile. "Nothing less, for they deserve our gratitude."
R2 chirped, "Oh, goody." While R3 beeped, "Yay!"
It was then back to business. This was when Qui-Gon requested the Naboian ruler's permission to go to the planet of Tatooine. As the queen's guard made his opposition clear, all the Jedi said in return was for Her Highness to trust his judgment. The queen agreed and gave the Jedi Knight her consent.
Afterwards, as they were headed toward the desert planet, Padme met Jar Jar Binks as she was cleaning R2-D2 with R3-QT waiting her turn. They seemed to have become quite fast friends.
Not too long after that they had made it their destination of Tatooine. And once they had found a settlement on their scanners they landed on the outskirts of it, in hopes that they would not draw too much attention to themselves. However, when they did land the Jedi sensed a disturbance in the Force, but they still needed supplies. And so, Qui-Gon along with Jar Jar, R2, R3, and Padme, whom he did not agree should have come as well, went into town to get the supplies that they required and a much-needed new hyperdrive. But they unaware of who they would meet while there.
