Chapter 3

After attending the opening ceremony of Beacon, Rosa and all the others are brought to Forever falls. They all land with different levels of success.

Rosa used the force to break her fall and landed gracefully. Her first objective is to find someone. She took a deep breath, and her mission mask fell. Rosa hated when she used that mask subconsciously. It made her feel like a robot. She shook her head but didn't know what to do next.

"Where next?" Rosa said on top of a tree branch. "Where is that temple?"

Rosa heard the roar of a Beowulf Grimm. She froze for a moment, memories of the crash coming back. She had to push them down. "Later." She said.

She used the force to get to the bottom of the tree. She looked up at it, and realized, she had a gash along her leg. She looked at it in surprise.

"Oh, when'd you get there?" She asked. She brought her hand to the wound and closed it. "Reminder to self, branches can cut."

She took a breath and looked around. It was a forest. Trees everywhere. She wondered if this was the forest that she crashed in, but she doubted that Ozpin would take her there. She grabbed her lightsaber and turned it on. A Grimm was behind her, and she decapitated it.

"Focus." She said. She turned off her lightsaber and took out a pair of fingerless gloves and wrapped her hands with tape. Her eyes glazed over again, and she started towards the sound of Grimm.

"She's changed again." Ozpin said.

"I like to think that's her base mask. Has she told you about the clone wars?" Maku said.

"We've gotten details, but she doesn't like talking about it." Glynda said.

"Well, this was her defense mechanism. We've seen many horrible things in the war. Blood and carnage were an everyday occurrence. So she had developed emotional masks. For Jedi, emotions and connections can be used against us, so we suppress them as much as possible. The greater good calls for it." Maku said.

"Can you tell us about what she saw?" Ozpin asked.

"She's my padawan, and I'm an undercover Jedi. We were stationed deep behind enemy lines. She made those masks to fit in with the groups we encountered. Most of them were destroyed after the successful mission, but a few have stayed. This is her mission mask. Only the mission matters. I believe she puts it on when she's in danger or has a reminder of a bad event." Maku said.

"Bad event?" Glynda asked.

"On our first mission, she was almost kidnapped by sex slavers. I've never been able to get her to tell me everything, but they started to touch her. On one mission, a man grabbed her from behind, and she nearly killed him. She didn't even think about it. I know she talked with many of the masters, liking to talk to the female masters and Yoda more than anyone else about this. We've seen what would have happened to her when we tore down that slave operation. Young girls and women beat, bruised, and broken. You could see it in their eyes. That's when I first noticed this mask. She has an ability to sense feelings. She felt everything these women went through." Maku said.

"My Gods." Glynda said.

"What did she do when you toppled the organization?" Ozpin asked.

"What the mission demanded. We brought the head slaver and all his captains to justice. Some of them had to be put down. She's killed, and she's shown no emotion when doing it. She became a machine of justice. It… concerned me, and I tried getting her to open up more, but she wouldn't. I know I can't fully sympathize with her since I didn't have to go through half what she did being a woman in our line of work. Most of the men we dealt with were monsters. She sensed their intentions toward her. How they wanted to rape her. She's a strong woman, and I want to protect her." Maku said. He felt a tear come down his face. "I feel as if I failed her. She's so strong… but she's hurt. She hardly trusts men."

"There is Jaune Arc." Ozpin said.

"What?" Maku asked.

"She has a male friend, his name is Jaune Arc. At least, I believe they're friends." Ozpin said.

"Good. But if he ever touches her without her consent, she'll be hurt." Maku said.

"Doesn't that go with every woman?" Glynda asked.

"I guess so… just Rosa can destroy his body with barely a thought," Maku said.

"And that's why we need you to watch over her. Professor Maku." Ozpin said.

"I will, with my life. I owe her that much." Maku said, looking at Jaune Arc, hanging in a tree.

"He's not much." Maku said.

"On the surface, yes, but I thought a Jedi would be able to look below." Ozpin said.

"I'll try."

Jaune was stuck in the tree, hoping to be let down. He tried reaching the spear but couldn't. He started thrashing, trying to get the spear to move, but it was embedded deep within the tree. Worst of all… he had to pee.

Yang jumped down to the forest floor, taking the leaves out of her hair. She started walking along the forest floor and saw a bush rustling. She brought her hands together and smirked.

"Bingo." She said. She coughed and the bush stopped.

"Ruby? Is that you?" She asked. A Beowulf chewing on a bone stepped out of the bush. It crunched down on the bone and swallowed it.

"Definitely not Ruby." She said. The Beowulf was about to charge when an Ursa slashed at it. The Beowulf evaporated. It stepped into the landing.

"Okay… you're big." The Ursa stood on two legs and roared in Yang's face. "And you smell."

The Ursa brought its clawed paw down at Yang, who jumped back. She activated her weapons and started firing at it. The shots were stopped by the fat on the Ursa.

"Shit." Yang said. The claw came down, slamming into the ground. Yang jumped back and jumped on the arm. She brought her hand down hard, punching the arm full strength. Weiss heard the snap and saw the arm falling to the ground. A blackish-red ooze came from the wound, and it let out a cry. It swiped at her. She backflipped smiling.

"You can't hit the backside of a bar…" Yang stopped when she saw her hair falling to the ground. Her eyes turned red, and a fire came from her. She rushed forward and punched a massive hole in the Ursa, and in a second one came up to help it. She then turned her fist upward and knocked the head clean off. The head fell to the ground with a thump, and the Ursa dissolved.

Yang didn't notice the third Ursa coming up behind her, but its arm stopped when it was wrapped by a ribbon. Blake swung downward and left a massive gash in the Ursa. She spun when she hit the ground, and rushed forward, leaving another massive slash. She jumped on the head of the Ursa and fired, taking it down. Blake looked at Yang.

"I could have taken that one… just didn't see it." Her eyes returned to normal.

"Alright. Looks like we're partners. You remember me from last night?" Blake asked holding her hand out.

"Yeah, you're Blake, and I'm Yang." Yang said, accepting the handshake.

"So, where's the temple?" Blake asked.

"Good question."

Weiss walked through the forest until she heard a noise. She gripped her weapon and waited. She sighed in disappointment when Ruby stopped in front of her. Maybe no one saw? Maybe if she went now, she could pretend to not have seen her. She turned around and continued to walk when she heard the sound of water hitting the ground. She pushed a bush to the side and found the clearing.

She saw the stream hitting the ground, then she went to find the source.

"Please don't look!" Jaune said. Weiss stopped.

"What are you…?" She looked up, ignoring Jaune, and noticed what he was doing. She turned around, red in the face, and went back to Ruby.

"On second thought, you're good enough," Weiss said, trying to hide her blush. "But we're not friends!"

"You came back!" Ruby shot her hand up with joy as Weiss dragged her along.

Jaune called out an apology, then finished. He zipped up and heard Pyrrha calling for him.

"Watch where you step!" Jaune called out.

"Why?"

"Um… a bear… yeah, a bear pooped, then… it covered it up! Yeah!" Jaune said. "Also do you have hand sanitizer?"

"Um… did you touch it?" Pyrrha asked.

"NO!" Pyrrha came into the clearing but couldn't see the poop.

"Jaune…? Are you sure you saw a bear? Because there's nothing here. Only a wet spot."

"DON'T!" Jaune said.

Pyrrha looked up at him and saw his blush. She wondered why he was embarrassed. She got him down and handed him the hand sanitizer.

"Last time I don't go before leaving." Jaune mumbled. Pyrrha put everything together and pretended to ignore what her partner did.

Ruby ran ahead of Weiss, trying to show how fast she was. Weiss heard a rumble in the bushes, calling for Ruby, then she noticed all the red eyes glaring at her. She was surrounded by Grimm.

"Okay… I've got this." Weiss pulled out her weapon and remembered every lesson she took. She made sure everything was perfect and she took a deep breath in. She raised her rapier and was ready to strike.

Then Ruby decided to show up, making Weiss panic and forget everything. She stumbled in front of Ruby as she took down the first Grimm. She crashed into Ruby, knocking them both down.

"Watch it!" Weiss said. "I could have killed you!"

Weiss heard the reprimand from her father in her head.

"Sloppiness is worse than doing nothing because at least you don't disappoint."

Weiss got up, refusing help from Ruby, and looked at all the Grimm.

"Dammit." Weiss said. A flaming tree fell. Weiss looked at the Grimm howl and grabbed Ruby's hands.

"We have to go!" Weiss said.

"What a horrid display."

Weiss closed her eyes.

"What was that?" Ruby demanded. Ruby, it was her fault.

"Well perhaps if you had exercised even the slightest amount of caution with the placement of your strikes, I wouldn't have set the forest on fire!" Weiss said. She needed to set things straight.

"I'm just surprised someone who talks so much would communicate so little during an encounter!" Weiss said.

"Well, I'm sorry you need my help to win a fight. I'm just fine on my own!" Ruby said. Weiss wanted to yell, scream, and put everything back in order, but Ruby was destroying her ordered existence with her chaos.

"Well, congratulations on being the strongest child to sneak your way into Beacon. Bravo!" Weiss saw it hurt Ruby, and she turned around quickly.

"Bravo! You let a child disturb you." Her father's words echoed in her head.

Maku looked at this.

"She seems a bit… self-destructive," Maku commented.

"Which one?" Ozpin asked.

"Weiss is hiding something, and Ruby is struggling." Maku said.

"Struggling?"

"I wonder if she is nervous because she's the youngest person here, or if she's just got socially anxious." Maku said.

"Her mother was killed when she was young. Perhaps that has caused some struggles in creating new relationships." Ozpin said.

"But what about Yang Xiao Long. She doesn't seem to be struggling to make friends. Aren't they sisters?" Maku asked.

"Half-sisters, but she loves Ruby all the same. One of the teachers at Signal, Qrow, has been watching over both of them the best he could. Yang's scars run deep, but don't think they don't exist. So much hides behind that smile of hers." Ozpin said.

"Then there's Mr. Arc." Glynda said.

"Yes, Mr. Arc." Ozpin said. He opened the tablet to look at them.

"Aura is the manifestation of our soul. It bears our burdens and shields our hearts. Have you ever felt you were being watched without knowing that someone was there?" Pyrrha said, trying to help Jaune.

"Yeah…" Jaune said.

"With practice, our Aura can be our shield. Everyone has it, even animals." An image of Ren fighting off a Grimm with his hand came on screen. Maku listened to Pyrrha's explanation of Aura and Grimm. He also watched the form of Ren, and he was impressed.

"By baring your soul outward as a force, you can deflect harm. All of our tools and equipment are conduits for Aura. You protect yourself and your soul when fighting." Pyrrha put her hand on Jaune's face and told him to concentrate.

"For it is in passing that we achieve immortality. Through this, we become a paragon of virtue and glory to rise above all, infinite in distance and unbound by death. I release your soul, and by my shoulder protect thee." Jaune's skin began to glow. Maku looked at this scene with interest.

Maku looked back to Ren, having defeated the Grimm, and his redhead friend Nora jumped down, having defeated a Grimm. She tried to make a noise and Ren shook his head.

"That's not what sloths sound like." Ren said. Nora smiled and booped his nose.

"Where's Rosa?" Maku asked. They turned the camera to Rosa. There was no life behind her eyes, and a dozen Grimm lying dead behind her as she walked forward.

"The mission is to receive the relic at the temple."

"Ozpin?" Glynda asked.

"Is this normal?" Ozpin asked.

"This is the mask she wears on her mission. She's dangerous… but maybe, she will be able to hang this mask up too." Maku said.

"Is your hope that the others will help her?" Ozpin asked.

"And that she will help them. Maybe we'll find that Beacon of Hope here." Maku said.

"Okay, it's this way." Weiss said, walking to the right a few feet, before turning around and going left declaring it must be the right way. Ruby just sat on a rock rolling her eyes every time she made a declaration.

"Just admit you don't know where it is." Ruby said.

"Never!" She looked offended at the suggestion. Ruby slinked back on her rock.

"We're nowhere near the temple." Rosa said. She put away her lightsaber and looked at the two bickering girls.

"Do you know where it is?" Weiss asked.

"Yeah, follow me." Rosa said. Ruby and Weiss looked at each other. Rosa wasn't her bubbly self, and they could tell immediately.

"Rosa… is something wrong?" Ruby asked.

"No. We have a mission to complete." Rosa said turning back to look at them.

Weiss noticed the dead eyes she wore. She started to breathe shakily. She knew those eyes too well.

"You need to be perfect. There are a lot of people who want this to be a good concert." Jacques said.

"Perfection is key to victory."

"Everything has an order. Any who do not add value to order must be taken away."

"Dammit, woman! All you do is drink! I'm the one who's keeping the company together! Do you not understand that we can't afford a public embarrassment like this!" Winter joined the army.

"Weiss, you need to be perfect when you fight. Otherwise, you might as well die."

"My perfect heir. Now we just need to find the perfect husband to continue our work." Jacques put his hands on Weiss' shoulders.

Ruby looked over at her partner and wondered what was wrong.

"Weiss?" She began.

"Everything is… perfect." Weiss said.

Rosa's emotions returned to her. She felt the panic and despair radiating off Weiss. She shook herself and looked at the woman.

"Weiss… Ruby… when did I…" Rosa started. "It happened again didn't it."

"Rosa, what's going on?" Ruby asked.

"Something is triggering a panic attack. Step back, Ruby." Rosa went to Weiss and grabbed her face. She closed her eyes, and Weiss felt a wave of calming emotions. Her memories faded back.

"I'm sorry." Rosa said.

"It's alright. That never happened!" Weiss said.

"Are both of you alright?" Ruby asked.

Rosa turned to Ruby and smiled. Weiss turned away from Ruby, and both shook their heads.

"Okay… so Rosa, are you going to lead us to the…"

A giant claw came down and picked Ruby and Weiss up. Rosa stepped back and widened her eyes. A Nevermore Grimm picked the girls up. Rosa jumped to the top of the trees and rushed after the Nevermore. It was going in the same direction as the temple.

Jaune and Pyrrha entered into a cave, and not the temple. As they walked the corridor, Jaune saw a glowing item in the cave.

"What do you think Pyrrha? Is this the relic?" Jaune tried to grab the golden object, then it moved. Jaune's heart dropped. He went to grab it again and it moved.

"Pyrrha… is this supposed move?" He turned to her, fear all over his face.

"Jaune… we should go." Pyrrha said.

"It's a good thing I went before because I really don't want to piss myself on day one." Jaune said. He let go of the tail and ran. He ran behind Pyrrha.

The deathstalker outran Jaune and went to stab him. It missed, and Jaune grabbed on to it.

"Jaune! Don't let go!" Pyrrha said

"Gods, if you're listening, I'm sorry for everything! Just don't let me die!" Jaune said. He had a death grip on the tail. The deathstalker started thrashing its tail back and forth. Jaune felt his hand slip, and he was flung through the air.

"Dammit!" He cried.

Rosa kept the Grimm in line of sight, her mission mask returned.

"I've got to save them. I've got to save them." She said.

Ruby looked at Weiss.

"I can see the temple from here!" Ruby said. Weiss screamed, holding onto her sword for dear life in between the talons.

"Did you hear me?" Ruby asked.

"Shut up! I'm trying not to die!"

"Come on, we're perfectly safe." The Grimm opened its talons, dropping the huntresses.

"Fuck" Rosa said.

Rosa gathered the force energy in her legs and jumped after Ruby. From her side, Jaune came flying, and he slammed into Weiss.

"That hurt," Jaune said. The teens began falling.

"Ruby, what were you thinking?" The mask came off again.

"It's not like I wanted to be plummeting!" Ruby gripped Rosa's neck, almost choking her. Her face turned red, then she used the force to soften the impact. Ruby let go of Rosa's neck. Weiss used Jaune as a pillow to land.

"My hero." Weiss said condescendingly. Jaune let out a shallow breath.

"Wait, you're not dead, are you?" Weiss asked.

"No… but I wish I was." Jaune said

"Ruby? Rosa?" Yang yelled out.

Nora came into the opening riding an Ursa Grimm, with Ren following shortly behind her, out of breath.

Nora rushed over and grabbed a rook piece.

"I'm the queen of the castle!" Nora cheered.

Pyrrha jumped off a tree, spun around, and shot at the Death Stalker chasing her.

"What's going on?" Blake asked.

"I… have no goddamn idea." Yang said.

"Rosa, get up!" Ruby said, holding onto the Padawan. She shook her. She took in a deep breath and put her hands on Ruby's face.

"Please get off Ruby." Rosa said. She kept trying to hug Rosa.

"Um…" Blake looked at Yang.

"I don't know." Yang said defeated.

"Great, the gangs all here, now we can all die together." Yang said.

Rosa stood up, shaking the dirt off her modified Jedi armor. Her regular clothes were nearly destroyed, so she shrugged, and tore them off, revealing the armor underneath. The armor might not have been as protective as full Jedi armor, but it would stop most attacks and environmental hazards.

Jaune covered his eyes until the clothes were on the ground. He looked and saw the armor and sighed.

"You were wearing that the entire time?" Blake asked.

"Yeah… it's kind of hot." Rosa said "But it kept my scroll safe this entire time. She removed the armor around her chest and took out her scroll.

"I… that doesn't actually surprise me." Blake said. Rosa put her scroll back and put the armor back.

"Alright, Jaune, you, okay?" Rosa asked.

"Still alive."

"We can work with that." Rosa said.

A massive Beowulf entered the clearing and howled at Rosa. The mask returned.

"I'll take out the big Beowulf, Ruby, Jaune, figure it out from there."

Ruby was about to go after Rosa, but the Death Stalker slammed her cape into the ground. She fell when the Nevermore fired its feathers at her. The Death Stalker let her go, only for the Nevermore to pin her down.

"You've got to be kidding me." Ruby said. Yang started running towards Yang, but the Nevermore fired more feathers at her. She struggled to avoid them and ended up stumbling.

"Ruby!" The Death Stalker began to bring down its claw when it was frozen.

"You are so childish." Weiss said, appearing in front of Ruby.

"Weiss…?"

"And dim-witted, and hyperactive, and don't even get me started on your fighting style. And I suppose I can be a bit... difficult... but if we're going to do this, we're going to have to do this together. So if you quit trying to show off, I'll be... nicer." Weiss said. She meant it. She smiled, and Ruby smiled back.

"I'm not trying to show off. I want you to know I can do this." Ruby said.

"Sure." Weiss said. Yang and Blake ran up to Ruby and Weiss.

"Come on, we don't have long till the ice breaks." Weiss said. Ruby looked around and saw a pathway. She pointed it to the others.

"There. We need more space."

"But before we go, we need a relic." Weiss said.

"Oh, yeah. Sorta forgot about that." Ruby said, smiling.

"Grab the horse piece." Yang said.

"Alright." Ruby said, going to grab the piece.

Jaune went to grab the rook and ran towards the opening.

"Alright everyone, to the cliff, NOW!" She said. Everyone followed her. Yang smiled as she saw her sister showing her leadership skills.

Rosa dodged the swipe and went to slash the massive Grimm. It raised its paw up, then slammed it to the ground. Rosa jumped back, then jumped on the arm of the Beowulf.

She brought her lightsaber back and forth, slicing the Grimm up its arm. It brought its other arm up trying to swipe Rosa. She rolled forward and slammed her lightsaber into the Grimm. It let out a roar, then she continued to run. She slashed the eye of the Beowulf and it screamed. She covered her ears, and jumped down, slashing the Beowulf's mouth.

"Die Damn you!" Rosa said. She sent out a massive force push into the underbelly of the Beowulf, sending it flying into trees, breaking them on the way.

"This Beowulf is resilient." Rosa said. She took out a blaster pistol she took from a gangster and bent the barrel. She started firing and tossed it. She used the force to make the blaster land in the Grimm's mouth. It let out another scream when the blaster blew up.

"How is it still alive?" Rosa asked. She rushed forward and jumped in the air. The Grimm started to get up when Rosa planted her lightsaber into its head. It fell backward. She let go of the breath she was holding onto. The Grimm started to dissolve.

"Now I just need to get a relic." She turned back to the temple and used the force to run to them.

She saw a knight, king, pawns, bishops, and a joker card.

"What?"

"Ozpin… did you leave that there?"

"Believe it or not, no." Ozpin said. It was one of the students.

Rosa picked up the knight piece and smiled. She put the piece in the blaster holder on her thigh. She turned to the cliff and used the force to rush there.

She saw Ruby running up the cliff with the giant Nevermore in her scythe and watched as she sliced off its head.

"Wow." She said. She put away her lightsaber and ran to the others. She stopped in front of the cliff and looked up.

"How are we supposed to get up there?" She asked. She looked at the others around her.

"Um… good question." Jaune said.

"Or maybe it's how does Ruby get down from there?" Weiss said.

A dropship dropped from the sky, and a hooded man stood in the opening.

"Good job students. I'm your new martial arts instructor!" The wind blew the hood off, revealing Maku's smiling face. Rosa's eyes widened and so did her smile.

"Master! You're up already?!" She asked.

"Yeah, but we can talk about that later." Maku said. "Now, I just need you all to get on this ship. We've got a ceremony to attend!"

Everyone got on, and Rosa grabbed Blake and Pyrrha with a gleaming smile on her face. She brought them over to Maku and pointed her hand out to him.

"This is my Master, Master Maku! Badass Jedi master, and the man who's taught me basically everything I know." She radiated happiness.

"You're her sensei?" Pyrrha asked.

"In a way… but I wouldn't say I taught you everything. There was Yoda and all the other instructors." Maku said.

"You're a Jedi as well? Rosa told me a little about your religion. I was wondering a few other things." Blake said.

"All questions can be answered in due time, but I bet you're all tired right now." Maku said. "So, after the teams are formed, you'll all get a wonderful dinner."

The ship stopped to pick up Ruby. Rosa ran up to her and grabbed her hands.

"That was great! You were awesome!"

"I was wasn't I" Ruby said, then Yang popped her on the head.

"You had a lot of help." Ruby held her head and looked at her sister.

"I wasn't taking all the credit." Ruby said. "You were awesome too. You did hold open it's beak, and you were like "I hope you're hungry!" And you kept firing! And Weiss, without you, I would never have been able to take out the Grimm." Weiss turned around, not looking at Ruby, trying to not blush. "And Blake, you totally saved my sister. I don't know where you learned to swing like that, but you were great too. And Rosa, if you hadn't taken care of that massive Beowulf, we would never have succeeded. You helped us clear our heads to come up with our strategy." Rosa hugged Ruby.

"Thank you." She said, squeezing Ruby tight. She made a squeak when Yang put her hand on Rosa's head.

"You'll squeeze her to death." Yang said. "That's my job."

"It's no one's job. I'm not going to be squished to death."

Rosa let go of Ruby, and the image of one of the clones came into her mind. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She reminded herself that they weren't in the war anymore.

"Rosa?" Blake asked.

"Sorry, it's nothing." Rosa said. Maku glanced at her. Weiss looked hard at her. Maku noticed. He saw her having that panic attack seeing Rosa's mission mask. Perhaps that's why Rosa closed her eyes, so as to not harm Weiss again.

They made it back to beacon, and the team ceremony had begun. Team CRDL was the latest team formed, but Rosa felt those boys. They were the arrogant pricks she sensed from earlier. She made a mental note to avoid them in the future.

"Next up." Jaune said. He smiled at Rosa as they were called up.

"I can't believe we are the exception," Ruby said.

"Yeah…" Rosa said.

After handing the chess pieces back to Ozpin, he told the huntsmen in training who their teammates were. But when Rosa arrived and handed a third knight piece, he smiled.

"It seems like your team's going to be a large one," Ozpin said. He looked at the other four women and smiled.

"We had an issue with the registration and had one team that would be larger than the others. Looks like you are them. It's rare, but it has happened. Just ask team MONTY. That was an interesting one. But you five shall become a team."

Rosa turned back to the newest team standing in front of Ozpin. He took out another set of pins, and the images of the team showed on screen.

"Jaune Arc. Lie Ren. Pyrrha Nikos. Nora Valkyrie. The four of you retrieved the white rook pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team JNPR. Led by... Jaune Arc!" Ozpin said. Jaune felt his knees grow weak and felt Pyrrha's hand on his shoulder. Nora hugged Ren, and everyone started clapping.

"Me? Lead by… Me?" Jaune asked. Ozpin nodded and handed him the box of pins.

"Congratulations, young man." Ozpin smiled. They stepped off stage, with Jaune gripping the Beacon pins hard. Ozpin grabbed the next box and Rosa with the others stood up.

"Now for the large team this year," Ozpin said. "And finally: Blake Belladonna. Ruby Rose. Weiss Schnee. Yang Xiao Long. Rosa Reidan. The five of you retrieved the white knight pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team RRWBY. Led by... Ruby Rose!" Everyone started clapping, and Rosa felt pride in her master, a bit of worry in Glynda, but nothing from Ozpin. She did feel a sense of shock from Weiss and Ruby. She then felt worry from Weiss and acceptance. Ozpin handed Ruby the Beacon pins.

Yang jumped on Ruby, knocking her from her shock.

"Yang!" Ruby said, as she fumbled with the pin box. Ozpin smiled, then gave Glynda a smirk. She shook her head with a slight smile on her face.

"It looks like things are shaping up to be an... interesting year." Ozpin said.

After the ceremonies died down, Maku stood with Ozpin in the secret medical wing in beacon, looking at the clone's preserved body.

"I don't know what this is about Ozpin, but you should have buried him a month ago." Maku said.

"We were told about the clone wars. We're simply studying the extent of this war. You say this is a clone? Who is the man he was cloned from?" Ozpin asked.

"They were cloned from a man named Jango Fett. He died at the start of the clone wars. They've been loyal soldiers who've saved me and other Jedi more times than I can count." Maku said. Ozpin nodded.

"And this?" Ozpin handed Maku a biological chip. "Found in the brain." Maku looked at the chip and handed it back to Ozpin.

"I don't know anything about this." Maku said.

"We originally thought it was a tumor, but it proved to be something else entirely."

"I don't recognize it at all." Maku said

"Well, we were running tests, and as it turns out, it seems to have data locked away in it. I've brought you here to tell you about it. We'll keep you updated on anything that happens." Ozpin said.

Maku looked at the chip.

"I have a bad feeling about this." Maku said.

"Oh, and Professor, you would be considered a Faunas here. Keep the outer space stuff to those you trust." Ozpin left the room. Maku looked at the dead clone.

"What is order 66?" Maku asked looking at the body.

Team RRWBY went to their room, and Rosa stood in front of the others.

"Now team… Welcome to our room." Rosa opened the door, showing them a large dorm room. One of the beds was moved next to the door. Rosa showed her teammates in. Ruby took a deep breath in and threw her suitcase on one of the beds.

"This is our domain!" Ruby said, pointing to her teammates.

"Domain…" Yang said.

"Yes! Our room. This is where we will grow, bond, and become the best there ever was!" Ruby said.

"That's a lofty dream." Blake said, placing her bag down on a bed.

"That's why we have to work hard to make sure it happens." Ruby said.

"I'll give you a tour of our dorm." Rosa said with a smile. Yang took a bed and followed Rosa to the common room kitchen combo.

"Why is our bedroom the next to the door and not this?" Weiss asked. Rosa spun around with a finger in the air. She pointed at Weiss.

"Good question." She spun back around and went to the fridge. She opened it and showed it was filled with groceries. Then she moved to the oven and showed it off. Weiss was confused.

"And we have a dishwasher!" Rosa said.

"What about laundry?" Blake asked.

"Yes! Right in between the pantry and our bedroom." Rosa said.

"What do we get on the TV?" Ruby asked.

"I haven't turned it on." Rosa said with a smile.

"…Why?" Yang asked.

"Training!" Rosa said and showed her well-toned arm. "Then meditating."

"Have you taken a single second to have fun?" Yang asked.

"Of course, I'm really good at cards, dice, and basically every form of gambling." Rosa said.

"You know the more you tell us about you, the less sense it makes." Weiss said.

"Yeah, I hide a lot about myself," Rosa said with a smile on her face.

"Do… we have a coffee pot?" Weiss asked.

"Yes! But I would have thought you would like tea." Rosa said. She saw Weiss's face blanch when she mentioned tea.

"If I never have to drink it again, it will be too soon." Weiss said.

"Good, because I don't like it either." Ruby said. Rosa smiled.

"Next, to the bathroom." Rosa said.

"Do we really need a tour of the bathroom?" Blake asked.

"Do you want to claim your space?" Rosa asked.

All the girls looked at each other, and dashed to the bathroom, rushing to claim a spot. Rosa came in with a stack of post-it notes.

"Mark your spot." Rosa said. Yang was trying to hold back Ruby, while Blake was trying to get passed both sisters. Rosa felt a sweat drop.

"I have my spot." Weiss said. She took the post-it note and went to the couch.

Rosa sat down on it across from her.

"I'm sorry Weiss. I don't know you that well, but I know I brought up some bad memories for you back in the forest." Rosa said with a smile.

"It's okay… I just recognized those eyes you had. Lifeless…" Weiss said.

"I've… seen a lot of shit." Rosa said. "Whenever something brings a memory like that up… I forget all emotions. My master tells me it's a defense mechanism."

"What have you seen?" Weiss asked.

"I'm a Jedi… You probably don't understand what that means…" She looked at Weiss. Her eyes were widened.

"Jedi?" She asked. She recognized the name.

"Yes…? Is that a problem?" Rosa asked.

"…I understand now." Weiss said. "It makes so much sense…"

"Most have forgotten my order." Rosa said.

"The Schnee's haven't. Not all of us. My father and brother say the Jedi were a myth to give people false hope. But my mother…" Weiss gripped a necklace she was wearing. She pulled it out and showed Rosa the Kyber crystal.

"Kyber?" Rosa asked.

"My mother said this was our family's good luck charm."

"Kyber is a little more than a good luck charm. It's the heart of a lightsaber. You must have had a Jedi in your family." Rosa said.

"Look, I don't know anything about the Jedi besides they gave people hope. My father told me that if they existed, they were the ones who caused the Great War." Weiss said. Blake entered the room.

"How could the Jedi start a war, but give people hope?" Blake asked.

"I don't know. My father…" She gripped the hem of her dress, and Rosa felt anger radiating off her.

"I don't know what the jedi here did. I can only say what I've done." Rosa said.

"What have you done?" Blake asked.

"I took down gangs and slavers with my master. We walked through hell every day…" Rosa said. Her voice became a whisper.

"Slavers?" Weiss asked, horrified at the idea of slavery. Blake looked at her, anger, then… calm.

"Have you ever seen a dead body? A dead child? A dead newborn?" Rosa asked.

"You… have?" Blake asked.

"Yes." Rosa said with a smile, tears starting to come down her face. "I've seen the worst of humanity, but… I believe that there is good out there. If I couldn't have hope for good, I would have killed myself long ago."

"Do all Jedi have to go through what you do?" Weiss asked.

"Oh no. I consider it an honor to have done my part to clean up the universe. Other Jedi became great healers, Scholars, diplomats, spies, warriors, and whatever we are needed to be. I wouldn't consider my life the hardest. Others have seen stared darkness itself down. And I can't even think about someone like Master Yoda. With his long life, he must have seen so much worse things than I have. But he's the wisest and strongest Jedi of all. And he's super funny." Rosa said.

Yang and Ruby sat down next to Rosa.

"Master Yoda?" Ruby asked.

"Oh yeah, he's the master of all Jedi. He talks backward, so when he talks you have to pay attention to what he says." Rosa said.

"Is he like Maku?" Yang asked.

"No… not really. He's a small man about…" She gave Yoda's height with her hand the girls gave her a look.

"A man that small can use a lightsaber like that?" Ruby said pointing to Rosa's lightsaber.

"His is smaller, but he's nearly unbeatable. Only a few Jedi have ever been able to beat him in sparring sessions." Rosa said. "Which reminds me, I do morning exercises every day. Do you want to join up with me?" Rosa asked the rest of the team.

"Can't be that bad." Yang said.

"Sure, we'll go." Blake said.

"I could always use practice." Weiss said.

"And we can practice team attacks." Ruby said. The girls looked at their leader and she smirked.

"All the best heroes team up and make stronger attacks. We can do the same." Ruby said holding her hand to her chest.

Rosa smiled. Maybe she found people she could trust. Especially since she was able to tell them so much. Everyone started going to sleep, and Rosa smiled.

"Team RRWBY. That has a certain ring to it." Rosa slid into bed and looked at her teammates.

"Friends. I think… I remember what those are."

Author's Notes: Rosa's joined team RRWBY! And now, we have the start of the term. Master Maku is a professor at Beacon, and I think I earned that M rating.
