Major Smith carried splinter over his shoulder, Fernandez carried Angeles over his and walked through the darkness of the sewers. Struggling to keep from dropping.
"Finally, help is here!" Fernandez said, relieved. The lights flashed dimly for a second and feet clamouring as they approached. "Is that?" one asked, looked to splinter.
"Yes, it is." major smith answered. "Take it to base, a specimen for agent bishop. He'd be pleased with the find."
Two squadron soldiers took a arm each, and walked away. Taking, splinter to the surface, followed by their comrade who was injured. Fernandez asked, firmly.
"Now, we continued with the search of the girl?" Smith turned and faced Fernandez, answering. "That is the plan, and order of agent bishop but don't undermine my authority private."
"Yes sir." Fernandez replied. "Report to agent bishop, we will have the girl finally but have another specimen as a bonus."
Meanwhile, the terrapin toddlers slept but Miriam sat close by and waited. Her heart began to race with worry as she feared for the worse. What she never expected to be was exhausted. Her eyes grew heavy, her body sank in the warmth of the blanket. And lost her battle, fell in a deep slumber.
A warm light shined upon her brightly, flowers floated down upon and around her. Smiling happily, opened her eyes as she arose from the grass bed and there, waiting patiently and silently but warmly smiled.
"Mum?" Miriam asked, surprised. She smiled, opened her arms. "Hello, sweetheart."
Miriam hugged her foster mother without hesitation. "I have missed you so much."
"I have to, bumblebee. But someone else wants to see you." Held her hand and stepped aside, welcoming her birth parents. Miriam didn't recognize her birth parents. "Who are they?"
She asked confusedly.
"They are your birth parents." she replied. "My birth parents?" Miriam answered, confused.
"Hey, my little pumpkin." Jonathan greeted. Miriam glanced uncertain at first and waited as he opened his arms.
"Pumpkin, we are so proud of the woman you've become."
Miriam glanced to her birth mother and tears fill, wetting her cheeks. "Mom?"
Sheila smiled and nodded. "Hey, my little pixie." Tracy stood by and waited happy for her foster daughter that she named bumblebee. Hugged her parents then she was welcomed in the embrace.
"I missed you, so much." Miriam cried. "We will always be with you and happy you have found love." Both Sheila and Tracy assured. Jonathan caressed her cheek, smiling.
"He is a good man, I am happy he has found you."
Miriam whispered. "You sent him to find me. You knew I'd fall in love with him." Jonathan nodded. "Yes, but you need to know something else."
"What is it?" she asked. "You are part." Jonathan begun then vanished as Miriam awoke suddenly. Something had disturbed her and she heard the footsteps approach the lair. Swiftly stood, grabbed a knife and covered the children, hiding them. Taking cover in the shadow near the entrance when the first soldier walked in.
His comrades followed after and crept quietly, unaware Miriam hid and waited for her opportunity. Pointed thier weapons ahead, when he approached the four coloured blankets that suddenly moved. Miriam leaped upon the soldier behind and stabbed him in his chest. Retrieved the knife as she stood over the body, and ordered. "Get away from them."
Before he could lift the blanket to see what was underneath, he decided to turn and point the gun toward Miriam but she threw the knife to the head, instantly killing him and he fell to the floor. Luckily not upon the sleeping terrapin toddlers.
A sharp objects had pierced her shoulder.
Miriam exhaled, with a soft sigh then she glanced over her shoulder. Reached over, taking it out then turned around as major smith entered.
"Bastard, no fair." Miriam fell on consciou. He smiled, chuckled. "Oh sweetheart, what is fair?"
Miriam groaned alittle, her vision blurred and she lost consciousness. "Grab her now."
Major smith instructed. "Sir, she was protecting these." An soldier reported, holding the blanket. Uncovering the sleeping terrapin toddlers. Major smith walked over and looked down. Seeing the children, he turned on his heel and walked away.
"What do you want to do with them, sir?"
"Carefully picked them up, in thier blankets and bring them. Agent bishop can have a field day with them."
Miriam was carried over the shoulder of major smith. The children cradled carefully, not disturbing their sleep as they left the lair. "What is with all these freaks we are finding?" one asked.
"We've seen worse and uglier " another answered.
