Chapter 13
Team RRWBY has left on its first mission to mount Glenn. While traversing through the fallen city, an enemy has set up and readied itself for an attack.
The Sith hid in the darkness, following after Rosa, who was struggling to find a bathroom and Ruby. The White Fang stationed up close by, and soon they would take the Jedi Padawan. Rosa or Ruby, it didn't matter. They just needed one of them to find the rest of the hunters.
"They're clueless." The Sith said.
"Completely." The white fang troop said.
"But that's what makes them so easy to kill. They've never fought a real Sith." The Sith said. She put her hand on the white fang troop's shoulder.
"Yes, Lady Myst." The troop said.
Ironwood stood over the railing in Vale. He saw the clones walking along the walls and streets. They all had the same face… but that didn't mean he liked seeing them. He knew how strong they were, which probably unnerved him. He held onto his scotch with one hand while looking out. His knights should be more than enough to hold the kingdom.
Maybe they would be able to expand outward again. The Grimm have been decreasing in number, or so the reports show. He should be happy about that, but there's still something that has unnerved him about that girl.
"Trouble sleeping?" Glynda asked. Ironwood started moving his arm.
"Arm was acting up." Ironwood said.
"Of course, so logically, you got out of bed, dressed yourself completely and decided to gaze menacingly out into the distance." Glynda said, moving next to him with concern in her step. "What's wrong?"
"I've trusted him for years. We both have. I just... I can't help but feel like he's keeping us in the dark." Ironwood said.
"Don't be ridiculous! You know very well that we are not the ones in the dark." Glynda said. Ironwood let out a laugh.
"That makes it worse! I refuse to believe that a man that I've trusted for so long would act so... passively." Ironwood said.
"You're a good person, James. You've always done what you think is best for the people, even against strong protest. It's admirable. But it's high time you stopped talking about trust and started showing it." Glynda said. "Ozpin has experience that the rest of us lack. And I think that's something worth remembering."
Rosa finished her business and put away the hand sanitizer she had with her.
She felt it. The dark emotions. She slowed down and dropped her hand down to her lightsaber. She felt a killing intent surround her. She was in danger here. But then she felt more emotions surrounding her. Some of it was fear, and some of it was excitement. She even felt some of these unseen forces have more carnal emotions. She quickly turned on her lightsaber and rushed forward, only to be met by a dark presence. She kicked Rosa back into the circle. She felt the four people before she saw them. They raised up blasters and fired at her. She turned and blocked the shots. Two of the blasts were returned to the senders. The other two were swatted away. She turned around and blocked a stun blast and had to spin around just as fast, blocking the stun blasts. She knew she couldn't keep it up.
Block, block, twist, roll, take a breath, block.
She was using her skills as best she could, and it wasn't enough. She wasn't enough.
A stray stun blast hit her arm, and she lost her lightsaber. Her only means of defense. She turned, only to have her other arm stunned. Then a leg. But after that the stun blasts stopped. Rosa couldn't get up any further than her good knee. She looked around, and saw the dark lady.
"Pathetic Jedi. Being beaten with that. Now I've got a job here, to find your friends, and kill the Jedi." Lady Myst said.
"I felt you all." Rosa said. Myst grabbed her jaw and looked deep in her eyes.
"Good. You felt some of my men's anxiety. Some of them want to do horrible things to you. But trust me, even that would be better than what I'm going to do to you." Rosa glared. Then she screamed. Myst used force lightning against her. After half a minute, Myst stopped, letting her take another breath.
"Go back to looking. This one's mine."
The shouts of Rosa rung out in the open night air.
"It's taking Rosa a while to get back." Yang said.
"Yeah…" Blake turned in her cover. She got up and looked out the hole in the building. She couldn't see anything.
"Why do you think he asked us about being a Huntress? Like, what was he trying to say?" Yang asked, getting up.
"Maybe he was just curious?" Blake said.
"You think?" Yang asked.
"No."
"Weiss, you awake." Weiss got up as well.
"Of course I'm awake! You two are talking. And I think he... When I said I wanted to honor my family's name, I meant it. But, it's not what you think. I'm not stupid. I'm fully aware of what my father has done with the Schnee Dust Company. Since he took control, our business has operated in a... moral gray area." Weiss said.
"That's putting it lightly." Blake said.
"Which is why I feel the need to make things right. If I had taken a job in Atlas, it wouldn't have changed anything. My father was not the start of our name, and I refuse to let him be the end of it." Weiss said.
"All my life, I fought for what I thought was right. I had a partner named Adam. More of a mentor, actually. He always assured me that what we were doing would make the world a better place. But of course, his idea of a perfect future turned out to be not perfect for everyone. I joined the Academy because I knew that Huntsmen and Huntresses were regarded as the most noble warriors in the world. Always fighting for good. But I never really thought past that. When I leave the Academy, what will I - how can I undo so many years of hate?" Blake said.
"I'm sure you'd figure it out. You're not one to back down from a challenge, Blake." Yang said trying to comfort Blake.
"But I am! I do it all the time! When you learned I was a Faunus, I didn't know what to do, so I ran! When I realized my oldest partner had become a monster, I ran! Even my Semblance! I was born with the ability to leave behind a shadow of myself; an empty copy that takes the hit while I run away!" Blake said
"At least you two have something that drives you. I've just kinda of always, gone with the flow, y'know? And that's fine, I mean, that's who I am. But how long can I really do that for? I wanna be a Huntress, not really because I want to be a hero, but because I want the adventure. I want a life where I won't know what tomorrow will bring. And that'll be a good thing. Being a Huntress just happens to line up with that. I'm not like Ruby, she's always wanted to be a Huntress. It's like she said, ever since she was a kid, she'd dreamt about being the heroes in the books. Helping people and saving the day, and never asking for anything else in return. Even when she couldn't fight, she knew that's what she wanted to do. That's why she trained so hard to get where she is today." Yang said.
"Well, she's still just a kid." Weiss said
"She's only two years younger. We're all kids." Blake said
"Well, not anymore. I mean, look where we are! In the middle of a warzone and armed to the teeth!" Yang said
"It's the life we chose." Blake said
"It's a job. We all had this romanticized vision of being a Huntress in our heads! But at the end of the day, it's a job to protect the people! And whatever we want, will have to come second." Weiss said.
Oobleck smiled
Ruby came back from watch, taking Yang's roll. She felt pain and darkness surrounding a familiar light. Zwei woke her up from her dream, knowing that it wasn't a regular dream. Ruby got up, and followed Zwei out of the building, trying to get him to do his business quickly.
"Zwei, this is a wasteland. You could have gone anywhere." Ruby said. Her head shot up when she felt a force presence. She got low and looked out for anything. Zwei barked, and Ruby cringed.
"Did you hear that?" A voice rang out. Ruby risked a glance, and saw two white fang troops holding blasters, and wearing bits of clone armor.
"Hear what?" The second white fang troop asked.
"I thought I heard a beowolf or something." The first responded.
"It's your nerves. Relax, we got one. The others won't be too hard to catch." Ruby looked at Zwei then back at the white fang. She decided to follow them.
It took some time. They were looking for something but didn't find it. After half an hour, the troops decided to head back to base. Ruby followed behind without getting caught. She saw a set of metal doors in the ruins. The troops enter the hideout. Ruby grabbed Zwei.
"Did they go in yet? One bark means yes." Ruby held Zwei up and waited. He barked once.
"That is it! That is it!" She pulled out her scroll, but it had no signal. "Aw man! Come on, we gotta get the others." Ruby said.
Ruby turns to go get the others, but the asphalt below her gives out. Before she would have splatted against the ground she sent out a force push, stopping her descent. When she landed she looked up through the ceiling she created. She barely noticed all the ruined buildings around her.
"So much for sneaking." She said.
"Hey! How'd you get in here?" A white fang guard shouted. Ruby turned and saw four white fang guards.
"You're a long way from home sweetheart." One of the guards said. She reached for her weapon but didn't feel it.
"Shit." Ruby said.
The four guards surrounded her. She used the force to push two of them back. The other two rushed her. She ducked under the swing of a vibroblade and sent threw a punch to her other attacker. She saw a shatterpoint on him, and she used it. When she punched him, she enhanced it with the force. The man buckled over, and Ruby tossed him into the other standing guard.
She felt a darkness come over her after she was hit by a stun blast. But she was still standing. The guard who hit her stood back up and punched her as hard as he could. Ruby fell to the ground and fell unconscious.
"Tell the boss we have two of them." The man said.
Yang finished her watch, beginning to worry about Rosa. She hoped she would see her when she came back to the room.
But she didn't. And worse, Ruby was missing.
"Ruby?" She said. Weiss and Blake began to stir. Zwei rushed in and began barking.
Oobleck was up in a second.
"It seems this place was too dangerous after all. I have a feeling Ruby has gone missing, and Rosa."
"How is that possible?" Blake asked.
"I fear we underestimated the enemy. Gather your weapons. It's time to go find out lost teammates." Oobleck said.
"Master Vos…" Mace Windu started.
"I'm no master. Not anymore."
"Please Quinlan, don't be rash." Mace said.
"I have broken the code more times than I care to admit. But master Windu, that team out there, they need help. Dammit, if I knew you sent only padawans to go out there I would have stayed." Quinlan said.
"Master Vos, what have you seen out there?" Ozpin asked. His holographic form flickered.
"That group, the white fang, they got Sith help." Quinlan said. Nobody spoke.
"Then we need to send help immediately." Shaak Ti said. The council chamber was reorganized on the top floor of the temple.
"We are in agreement then. I suggest that either master Ti or I go." Plo Koon said.
"I'll go to. But after this, I'm no longer a Jedi." Quinlan said.
"It seems we're not going to change your mind like this… Go, help the padawans." Mace said.
Ruby opened her eyes when she felt the ground hit her face. She looked around and saw dozens of white fang troops. They had paladins moving boxes onto a train.
"Boss! Found something you might want to see." The white fang troop said. Ruby felt her being stood up.
"Is it good or bad, Perry? Because let me tell ya, I have had a day." Roman said from inside a railcar.
"It's a little girl."
"Oh Gods guys, were not like that." Roman said as he looked out at Ruby. "No fucking way. The little shithead who keeps popping up to annoy the shit out of me. This is probably terrible fucking news guys. She's got three other friends here."
"Roman…" Ruby said shaking her head. Finally she realized exactly how bad of a situation this was.
The remainder of team RRWBY followed Zwei until they got to a hole in the ground with Crescent Rose next to it.
"Ruby's scythe. Gods dammit." Yang said.
"Do you think she fell?" Weiss asked.
"Fell?" Oobleck looks up.
"Down there." Weiss said.
"Oh my. Of course! Of course, OF COURSE, OF COURSE!" Oobleck said.
"What is it?" Blake asked.
"How could I be so stupid?!" Oobleck said
"Dr. Oobleck, what's wrong?" Yang asked.
"Mountain Glenn! Yes, an expansion of Vale that was inevitably destroyed by creatures of Grimm! Previously home to thousands of people! Working people commuting to the city, the main city! Developed a subway system to the inner city! Grimm attacks increased! Population in danger, now desperately searching for shelter! City evacuates into the metro tunnels and what do they find? The southeast quadrant of Vale is known for wild forests and deep caves!" Oobleck explained.
"Doc, what are you saying?" Yang said.
"My dear, we're not just looking for an underground crime network, we're looking for an UNDERGROUND crime network!" Oobleck said.
"They've been working in caves?" Blake asked.
"No, no, Mountain Glenn was Vale's first serious attempt at expansion. It worked for a short period of time, thanks to an aggressive perimeter defense, and unique transportation; the city developed an elaborate subway system to carry citizens safely from the new territory into the main Kingdom! Sadly, without the many natural barriers Vale had to protect its borders, Mountain Glenn was doomed from the start! As the end drew near, the citizens of the territory made one last attempt at survival: They took up shelter beneath the city! In massive caves that they had cleared out for the subway. And they had cut themselves off from the surface!" Oobleck explained.
"An underground village?" Yang asked
"In a matter of speaking, yes. A safe haven. Until... an explosion opened the mouth of another cavern, filled with subterranean Grimm. After that, the Kingdom officially sealed off the tunnels, creating the world's largest tomb. If Ruby or Rosa are down there…" Oobleck deploys Antiquity's Roast. "…we must find them."
The Jedi got in the LAAT and started off for the Padawans.
"Let's hope we're in time." Shaak Ti said.
"Be ready for a fight. They got republic materiel" Quinlan said.
The dozen troops stayed silent as they flew towards the mountain city.
"Troops, we're here for a simple extraction mission. Once we get the padawans and the hunter safely in the LAAT we're leaving. Any unknown beings must be considered hostile. We must consider the Grimm as well. Any animal-like creature is fair game." Shaak Ti said.
"Wow! You are much more manageable without that oversized gardening tool of yours." Roman said while laughing. He punched Ruby, knocking her back. She rushed forward, unable to tap into the force because of her lack of focus. She tries to punch Roman, but he sidesteps her. He grabbed the back of her neck and drove his knee into her stomach. She let out a scream and puked. She fell to the ground and was kicked by Roman again.
She rolled in the dirt until she hit something solid. She tried to catch her breath but felt the back of her hood lifted up. Roman smacked her across her face with his cane, blood coming out of her mouth. The one who held her took out a lightsaber and put it to her throat. The red beam told her all she needed to know.
"Sithspit." Ruby said.
She felt electric energy rip through her body. She screamed more.
"How'd you find us red? I mean I don't mind beating it out of you, but I don't think that's what you want now is it? Besides, if you're good, you'll end up with you little friend up in first class. Don't worry we'll even take you home." Roman said with a fake smile on his face.
"Kiss my ass." Ruby said.
"You know red, you've gotten quite the mouth since we last met. How about I fix that?" He put down the cane and took out a knife. He grabbed her face and smiled.
An explosion rang out.
"Fuck" Roman mumbled. "Perry, if you and the boys could take care of that? Kinda in the middle of something." Roman said. He went back to trying to make Ruby talk.
Then Perry and his men were sent flying back. And a massive hole ripped through the ceiling, landing on, and destroying a paladin.
"Shit. Get the other Sith. We got Jedi." Roman said. He turned to see Ruby, then cut her along the cheek.
"You're luck will run out." Roman said. The Sith tossed Ruby into a support beam, causing her to let out a moan. She was able to put up a simple shield, but she still felt the pain. Her aura was starting to come back.
"Start the train!" Roman said.
"We're not finished." One of the white fang said.
"Do as I say, or you're finished." The LAAT began to descend, and the bay doors opened up. The others found Ruby and jumped down to help her.
"Is Rosa with you?" Oobleck asked.
"I think she's on the train." Ruby said. Blaster fire rained down and started killing the white fang.
"Then we need to get on that train." Oobleck said. A Sith dropped from the ceiling and took out his lightsaber. Quinlan and Shaak Ti jumped down, landing next to the Sith. The clones repelled from the LAAT and started taking down the White Fang troops. One of the clones dropped when they were shot in the chest with a blaster. Another was hanging in the air until he flew onto a lightsaber. Shaak Ti flicked the first Sith's lightsaber up, then made a quick slash, killing him. Ruby and her team got up and jumped on top of the train.
"Wait!" Shaak Ti shouted.
"I'll follow them." Quinlan said.
Quinlan Vos used the force and landed on top of the train. Ruby was talking to her teammates when he landed.
"I'm fine, I'm fine! But listen! Torchwick's got all kinds of weapons and robots down there." Ruby said.
"What?!" Blake said. She quickly handed Ruby her weapon back.
"Androids, mechs, they're all loaded up on the train cars!" Ruby said.
"We have to stop it then." Quinlan said. The hunters turned to look at the former master.
"Who are you?" Blake asked.
"A Jedi master, now come on. We need to get stop this thing." Quinlan said. He took out his lightsaber and jumped forward.
"Follow him." Oobleck said. The girls did so.
"They got on the train boss." One of the white fang said.
"Then get them off the train." Roman said. "Take some of the cargo and stop them."
The white fang troops saluted and left. He shook his head. Torchwick stepped forward and grabbed Rosa by the face. She was still unconscious. Her arms and legs were locked in, forcing her to stand with her limbs outstretched.
"You kicked the shit out of her." Roman said.
Lady Myst smiled at grabbed the padawan.
"Wake up." She said, quietly. "Fine then."
She shocked Rosa, who woke up in an instant and started screaming. After Myst stopped shocking her, she looked at Torchwick and stiffened.
"You do remember me. Your friends are here. And we're going to kill them." Torchwick said. A massive screen came down, showing all the cameras set up on the train. It showed outside the train the team running forward with master Vos. She smiled, but immediately she felt shocks running down her body.
"They're going to die, just like you." Myst said.
"Keep going girls, every step matters." Oobleck said. Weiss stopped and opened a panel. Inside was a device.
"Professor…" Weiss started.
"Doctor!" Oobleck corrected.
"Doctor… what's this?" Weiss asked. Oobleck took a look at it.
"That my dear would be a bomb." Oobleck said.
"Bombs? What are they planning?" Vos asked.
Four white fang troops came up and started firing. Vos expertly blocked the attacks, sending the blaster bolt away from him. The bomb is activated.
"Run now!" Vos commanded. He rushed forward, taking out his blaster pistol and shooting two of the white fang. He blocked the shots back at the remaining two. The team jumped to the next train car, as the one they were on detached. It fell back a few yards, then exploded. The hole was soon filled by the Grimm. Hundreds of Grimm quickly entered the hole.
"Where's this train going?" Vos asked.
"To Vale." Oobleck said. "It's the only place possible it can go."
"That's where the school is." Yang said.
"And the Jedi." Ruby said.
Shaak Ti finished off the second Sith. She felt around but found no one else there.
"How many did we lose?" She asked.
"Four." One of the clones responded. She pressed a button on her comm signaling the LAAT to return, which it did. It picked them out and flew towards Vale.
"General Vos got a message out to us. The train is heading to Vale." The pilot said.
"Then we need to go back." Shaak Ti said. The sun was starting to rise up in the sky.
They moved along the train, discovering that every car had bombs on them, barely making it to the next car before the one they were on detached itself. They fought white fang troops all along the way.
Quinlan Vos jumped on the next train car, feeling the car through the force. He smirked as he drove his lightsaber into the top. The ceiling collapsed in and landed.
"Three with me. We're going to stop the bombs." Vos said. Blake, Weiss and Yang jumped down.
"What about me?" Ruby asked.
"Stop the train." Vos said, giving her a smirk. Oobleck and Ruby ran off.
"Master Vos, what's the plan?" Weiss asked.
"We move forward with this and deactivate the bombs." Vos said casually.
The girls nodded and they rushed forward.
A Sith warrior stood up straight. Vos turned on his lightsaber and watched as the girls went passed without issue.
"You were the Jedi causing so many problems." The Sith said. "Guess this is the end."
"What are you planning?" Vos asked.
"This whole thing? Simple, we're going to destroy Vale." The Sith said. He turned on his lightsaber.
"Why?" Vos asked.
"Because our lady demands it. Just like she demands your head." He pointed the red lightsaber towards Vos. Vos stood still against the threat. He ignored everything that wouldn't help with this fight. Even ignoring the sound of metal scrapping against metal on the roof.
A bead of sweat dropped from Quinlan's nose. The bead of sweat hit the floor.
They rushed forward. Vos dropped down, under the swing of the lightsaber, twisted the lightsaber in his hand, and thrust the blade into the heart of the Sith. He let out a groan and fell to the ground.
"You were overconfident," Vos said. He left the car as it detached. The car was stopped, and Vos could feel the Grimm rip into it.
"He was weak. Barely better than the girls here." Vos said. He turned and saw a bomb activate. He widened his eyes and used the force to destroy the next two doors. He dashed inside the next cabin, then cut the line.
"This is getting too close." Vos said.
Yang, Blake, and Weiss entered the next train car on the line. Weiss just finished handing Blake some dust bullets when Neopolitan appeared in front of the padawans. She smirked when Yang stepped forward. Neo let the other two go.
When the door closed Yang threw a punch. Neo opened her umbrella and avoided the hit. She made simple adjustments, moving backward, letting Yang try to hit her. She tried kicking her, but still Neo was just out of reach. Yang would throw straight, she would dodge when she curved her attack, Neo would go straight. Constantly Neo dodged the attacks, making Yang more frustrated.
Yang dug inside herself and felt a power start to come over her. A fire started to surround her spirit. She threw one more punch, fire rushed off her hand. Neo jumped back and opened her umbrella. Yang looked at her hands, and that feeling fled away. But in that moment of instability, Neo rushed forward, kicking Yang in the stomach. She stumbled backward, then she felt a hard kick against her face. She was tossed to the ground. Yang started to get back up, and she felt darkness further along in the train. Once again, she was distracted, and Neo kicked her in the face again. Yang fell backward and felt her nose hurt. She put her hand to her nose and looked at her hand. Blood.
Yang let herself delve into the force, and felt it tell her to jump. She jumped with barely a second to spare. When she was in the air, she punched at Neo. Neo put up her umbrella saving herself from getting hit. She reached her hand out and knocked Neo off balance. She rushed forward and put everything into her next hit. Before she hit Neo stopped moving. Yang knew a second before her attack landed that it would fail. When the shatter happened, Yang turned her eyes to Neo's umbrella. It slammed into her stomach.
Neo grabbed Yang's arm and hit Yang four times with her umbrella handle, then finally let go. Neo rushed forward, attempting to land a powerful kick when Yang dropped. Neo flew over Yang, but when she was over her, Yang sent out another force push. Neo slammed into the top of the train and started to fall. She caught herself quickly and opened her umbrella as she fell. Yang jumped back when she landed. Neo rushed Yang, opening her umbrella to stop her attacks, then got inside her guard, smacking her more. Yang stumbled back after a particularly powerful hit. When she looked up Neo was standing in front of her. Neo blew a kiss, then kicked Yang into a wall. She dropped to the ground.
Neo let out a silent sigh and took out her sword. She stood over Yang with the sword out. A red portal opened at the same time the cabin door opened. Quinlan Vos entered the room, seeing Yang unconscious, and feeling the dark presence. Neo saw the dark lady and disappeared.
"Jedi, stay out of my way." She said. She began to reach for Yang when Quinlan brought his lightsaber forward.
"Step away from the padawan." Vos said. The woman stopped reaching for Yang and turned to Vos.
"This is none of your concern." She said.
"She's a member of the Jedi order Sith!" Vos spat out the last word.
"I'm no Sith, just like my daughter is no Jedi." She said. "Neither are you. Not anymore at least. I can sense it in you. Love? I see. And you're not from this world. Keep her safe until I come for her."
Vos didn't move until she put her hand on Yang. The woman held out a hand, and Vos felt sleepy. She turned back, and the fatigue was gone. Vos shook his head and went to Yang. She had a broken nose recently, but whatever that lady did, fixed it. Yang started stirring, and quickly woke up.
"Good, we need to keep going." Vos said.
"What happened?" Yang asked.
"I'll tell you after we stop this."
Ruby kept running along the tops of the cars, jumping every few feet. She dropped down in front of the Atlesian paladin, and a ball of fire slammed into it. The paladin snapped in half, and Ruby laughed. The two halves fell on either side of Ruby. Zwei shook off the dust and barked at Ruby.
"I love you." Ruby said. Zwei waged its tail and happily barked.
Weiss entered before Blake into the next car and saw a large man in a white fang uniform. She stopped Blake.
"You go on ahead." Weiss said.
"Alright." Blake rushed passed the man, entering the next car.
"I get to kill a Schnee? What luck." Weiss took a deep breath. She let the force come into her. The white fang Lieutenant rushed forward, and Weiss slammed her sword into the ground. He was caught in a time Glyph. Weiss rushed forward and slammed her blade into the white fang lieutenant. She released the Glyph, and he went flying back. She used a time glyph on herself to make herself faster and rushed forward, calmer than she ever felt.
There is no emotion, there is peace.
Even in the fight, Weiss didn't feel nervous, scared, angry, or anything. She felt at peace. Every strike the white fang member threw at her, she calmly deflected and then parried.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
She had experience with someone who used a weapon like his, and an opponent who fought like him. Big, tough, and stupid. He planned on overpowering her, depending on her lack of experience to win the day.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
She dodged one punch but knew she was about to be hit. She raised her aura and took the hit. She let out a grunt, but in an instant, the pain went away. She landed perfectly and gathered strength in her legs. She created four glyphs in front of her and used them. She launched forward.
There is no chaos, there is harmony.
With that final attack, Weiss ended the fight. She saw blood at the tip of her blade and pulled her sword back. The white fang lieutenant fell dead. He died before he even knew it.
There is no death, there is the force.
Weiss turned her head just in time to see the lightsaber activate. The plasma cut right through Myrtenaster and the Sith's hand thrust forward. Weiss was flung into the wall, breaking a window. She felt the cuts on her back and knew there would be blood. She stood up, only to be met with a lightsaber slash to her abdomen. She felt the burning of her skin. She stumbled back, holding her stomach.
"I missed." The Sith said. "I was trying to cut your stomach open, not graze it."
Weiss felt herself be flung through the door. But before the Sith could pursue, Vos cut him down. Vos and Yang rushed into the next car.
Blake entered the next train car to see Rosa tied up in the middle. Roman stood behind Rosa and held a knife to her neck. Rosa was breathing heavily, and the floor beneath her was covered in blood. Blake took out her weapon and aimed it at Roman.
"Hello, little kitten. Your friend here has been giving me such an entertaining time. She's been the best commentator on all your little matches. Just look." Roman pointed at the end of Yang's fight when she was knocked out. It also showed Weiss' fight with the white fang lieutenant. She was winning her fight, but he was getting in some hits.
"You bastard!" Blake yelled.
"Not my fault! Daddy just couldn't handle his drink and mommy lied to him." Blake became angrier. "Does that hit too close to home? Mommy didn't tell you enough fucking fairy tales. You were too busy trying to suck Adam's dick. I know about it."
Blake thrust her hand forward and tossed Roman back. Rosa let out a yelp of pain. Blake rushed forward and cut one of the chains when Roman got up.
"I'll come back for you." Blake said. Rosa tried saying something but couldn't. Blake rushed forward and fought Roman. Roman used his cane to block the attack coming from Blake and stepped back. Blake brought up her pistol and fired it. She felt a pull on her arm, and the bullet only scrapped Roman's shoulder.
"Bitch." Roman muttered. He pulled up his cane and fired point blank into Blake's chest. She flew backward but got up.
She rushed forward, using her semblance to avoid the blast a second time. She landed in from of Roman and swung her blade across his chest. He brought his cane down and stopped the attack. He pushed on the cane stumbling Blake. She tossed the ribbon around Roman's legs as she was falling, then tugged on it. Roman fell and Blake got up quickly. She held her sword to Roman's throat.
"Go on. Do it." Roman said.
"Blake…" Rosa said. Blake clenched her teeth, and kicked Roman in the chin, knocking him out. Blake felt a tug at her back, and she flew into Rosa. Rosa didn't have the energy to scream, though she felt pain everywhere.
Lady Myst used the force to pull up Blake and tossed her at the door. At the same time, Weiss was flung into the same train car. Weiss and Blake slammed into each other. Myst stepped in front of the door and crushed it. She turned back and looked at the two padawans.
"This is it for you two." Myst said. She knelt to see Weiss' face.
The room grew cold. Myst grabbed Weiss' face. The room's lights dimmed. Myst let go of Weiss' face and grabbed Blake's face. Finally, she noticed a massive dark presence in the room. Myst stood up and turned. Rosa's face could only be described as shadow. Her eyes were an eruption of lava. Hatred covered everything. Myst stumbled over Blake's body. She back up and went for her lightsaber.
But it was gone.
It was in Rosa's hand. She moved her hand and broke the chain. The chains around her legs snapped easier than a twig. Myst rose her hands up, but it didn't matter. Rosa plunged the lightsaber into Myst's heart. She grabbed Myst's neck and tossed her behind to the controls. Rosa felt her lightsaber fall to the ground and she grabbed it. She turned on the green blade and used the force to keep Myst alive, but barely.
The dark side rushed through Rosa and crashed into an ocean of evil energy inside. Myst's heart was fixed, and it started pumping again. She brought the lightsabers up and cut off Myst's fingers. She kept spinning the blades, cutting off small chunks of flesh as she moved forward. When Myst's arms were completely gone, Rosa cut off Myst's legs. Myst's body hit the ground, and Rosa turned off the lightsabers and punched into the healed whole she made. She ripped out Myst's beating heart and crushed it. Then finally, she brought back Myst's lightsaber and cut off her head.
Rosa used the last of the dark energy to completely crush Myst's body. She stumbled back, holding onto her head.
"What have I done?" Rosa asked. Her legs gave out under her, and she landed on the ground.
"Fuck." Roman said. "I wasn't expecting that."
Yang and Vos jumped up and cut a hole in the top of the train car. They dropped down to see the three padawans collapsed. Roman was tied up. There was also a bloody pile of something. Vos didn't have time to think about it. There was a screen on in the car, and Vos knew it was too late to stop the train.
A massive door came in sight.
"Hold on!" Vos said. He grabbed Rosa and braced for impact. A massive shell of ice came around them as the train broke through the door.
Suddenly, the doors to Vale were open.
Vos opened his eyes and saw they survived. Even the criminal they were waiting for.
"That's one victory." Vos said.
But he felt the Grimm right behind. He also knew the white fang would be coming. After the dust settled Vos saw that his concerns were correct. There were indeed Grimm in Vale. Citizens ran as soon as the black creatures became visible to them. Rosa was out cold. Quinlan looked around and wondered how they were going to get out of this one.
The LAAT came into view. The missiles flew towards the tunnel. The tunnel closed, with far less Grimm than otherwise there would be.
The White fang troops came out of the ruined train car and started rushing passed the Grimm. They took out explosives and started tossing them into the buildings around the entrance. Weiss was about to go after a white fang troop before a Grimm was about to hit her. She rolled to the side, and her hand went to her stomach. She felt her stomach roar in pain.
"I don't know how much good I can do here." Weiss said.
"Rosa's down too." Ruby said as she killed a Grimm. Weiss held her hand out and grabbed the first lightsaber Rosa had in her hand. She turned it on and saw her green blade.
Team RRWBY is surrounded in the middle of the pavilion by Beowolves, Ursai, and a massive King Taijitu. The King Taijitu unleashed a mighty roar, signaling the Grimm to attack. Ruby planted Crescent Rose on the ground before kicking away the Grimm, Yang propelled herself upwards, performing aerial bombardments with Ember Celica on the Grimm before three Giant Nevermores send her crashing to the ground. Blake sees it and jumps in the air, wrapping Yang with her ribbon, and falling with her. They both use the force to land safely.
Blake slashed a Beowolf with Gambol Shroud before firing on the other approaching Grimm. Weiss slashes three Beowolves with the lightsaber, before summoning a glyph to conjure up an ice blade. She was a little shocked it still worked with a lightsaber. A thought came across her mind. If she was using Rosa's lightsaber, then who's lightsaber did she have in her other hand? She had to turn back and block an attack. She was getting shot at by the white fang. But almost as soon, more gunfire erupted. Blaster fire rained from the walls, hitting mostly Grimm, but some were going after the white fang. But there was another group that arrived. The HDC, or was it the HDF? She didn't know. She only recognized who they were when the former team CRDL came running in with cheap old guns. They started shooting at the white fang, yelling racial slurs at them.
Yang, back on the ground, sends several cars flying toward the Grimm. As Ruby finishes slashing at a Grimm, she notices the King Taijitu ready for the attack, until she also sees Nora Valkyrie flying on Magnhild towards the King Taijitu, slamming it on the head and killing the beast.
"What?" Ruby yelled. The rest of Team JNPR arrived and started attacking the Grimm.
"This is a shitshow." Yang said.
Jedi Master Shaak Ti landed, deflecting the blaster shots that were aimed at her. She landed next to Rosa.
"The clones report multiple attacks across the city. The white fang spread out quickly." Shaak Ti said. "But they're falling just as quickly."
"We need to get rid of the Grimm first. Then we deal with the white fang." Vos said.
An Atlesian ship floated in the air and down came hundreds of the new knights. Immediately they started fighting the Grimm.
"We got one more surprise." Sun said jumping down, taking out his blue lightsaber, and stabbing it into the head of a King Taijitu. It let out a cry and died. He turned around and took out his nunchaku, slamming them into a white fang troop. He brought up his hand and knocked down four HDC members. Jaune kills an Ursa with one blow, and quickly turns around, killing another two.
"General Ti, we're getting a message from General Ironwood." A clone said.
"Patch it through." Shaak Ti said, deflecting more shots.
"Master Jedi, what's the situation?" Ironwood asked.
"We have two terrorist groups and Grimm. The clones and droids are working together to take out the Grimm, but there still plenty of them." Shaak Ti said.
"Understood. Which terrorist groups?" Ironwood asked.
"White Fang and the HDA I believe." Shaak Ti said.
"The HDA? Are you sure?" Ironwood asked.
"No, and it doesn't matter. They're busy killing each other, but the Grimm are the more dangerous threat."
"Master Ti, We got another dropship coming in." Vos said. Yang turned her head and smiled.
"That's CFVY!" She yelled. She turned her head back and punched through a Grimm.
The airship arrives, dropping off Team CFVY and Professor Peter Port. As Yatsuhashi Daichi is surrounded by a pack of Grimm, he unlimbered Fulcrum before smashing it on the ground, unleashing a shockwave that sends them flying. Cardin and what was his team got hit by it and went through the windows of a building. Yatsuhashi raised his eyebrow.
Velvet Scarlatina and Fox Alistair respectively kick and punch the Grimm with Fox impaling a Creep. Nearby a large, spiked Ursa roars before charging them. Fox intercepts it with a kick then unleashes a combo of slashes and punches with Sharp Retribution. Knocking the Grimm skyward with an uppercut, as it descends, he delivers a blow to the head with both hands that sent it flying. After landing it swelled up and exploded impaling the nearby Grimm with its spikes. Coco walks forward swatting a few away with her weapon. Yatsuhashi shields Velvet before the two-start advancing.
"Nice hustle, Fox. Good job." Coco said, smacking Fox's butt. She looked at the ruins of a shop and took a deep breath. An Ursa walked out of the ruins and ran up to her. It roared in her face. She didn't budge.
"You just destroyed my favorite clothing store. Prepare to die." Coco spat at it. After swatting away the Ursa's right hand, Coco kicked the Beowolf in the crotch. She, as it fell to the ground and looked at her, leaned down and slammed her bag onto its head. She effortlessly swatted away three more Beowolves, then leaped back to avoid a Death Stalker's tail. Velvet stepped forward and moved a hand toward Anesidora about to open the box. Coco stopped her.
"Hey, come on, you just spent all the semester building that up. Don't waste it here." Coco said while smiling.
Coco transformed Gianduja into a giant minigun, and started firing, slaughtering the advancing horde of Grimm, including a Death Stalker and three Nevermores. Port and Oobleck regroup at the opening, nodding their heads. They fire their weapons at the approaching Grimm, while Glynda Goodwitch mops up the remnants and immediately closes the opening using her Semblance.
Roman got away from the Jedi with some difficulty and tried to get away. He did have to kill a few of the human terrorists to get away. His skills with the knife were still amazing. He turned a corner, and found Mercury and Emerald.
"You royally fucked up." Emerald said.
"Believe it or not, no. In fact, I have great news. Involving the padawan the big boss wants." Roman said.
"Tell me what you got and I'll judge that information." Cinder said.
"What if I told you she used the dark side? And not just a little, she made Myst look like a bitch." Roman said.
"Myst? Is she dead?" Emerald asked.
"Before the crash, she was just a pile of meat and bones. She did that. Cut her up good. Even I could feel the evil she channeled. Fucking brutal shit." Roman said.
"Good. You keep your life this time." Cinder said. She shoved Roman into Mercury and Emerald.
"Things are calming down. This little experiment failed. How many of Myst's students died?" Cinder asked.
"First you shove me then ask questions? Rude. All the Sith that were with me should be dead." Roman said.
"Good." Mercury started leading Roman away.
"And Roman, be discreet." Cinder said.
"When aren't I!?" Roman shouted.
Master Windu looked over the damage. It wasn't much. The white fang only got four blocks out of the original site. They captured some of them, and many of the surviving HDF.
"It seems we ended this plot before it could truly begin. I don't believe that we would see anything else out of the white fang for a while. Many members were killed, and we have their leader." Mace said.
"Indeed, but there are other issues." Plo Koon said.
"They somehow knew of the train track. At least we know where the dust went." Ironwood said.
"But where did the weapons for the HDF come from?" Shaak Ti said.
"That will be one of the investigations we go through." Ironwood said. "I've recently been put in charge of security for the Vytal festival. I swear this will not be repeated."
"To swear that James, you need to find who's behind this." Ozpin said, opening the door.
"Professor." Mace said.
"Master Windu." He nodded his head. "James, you are in charge of security. But who will lead this investigation? And the others. Somehow the HDF and the white fang knew where to be. We only responded so quickly because of you master Ti."
"Who do you want to put on this investigation?" Ironwood asked.
"Out of the remaining Jedi here, is anyone well versed in investigation?" Ozpin asked.
"We have two Jedi like that, yes. Master Maku and Master Vos. But Vos has… retired… from the Jedi order." Mace said.
"I would rather it not be Maku. I don't trust him." Ozpin said.
"Why's that?" Shaak Ti asked.
"He told me what happened to Rosa when she was eight years old. He blocked her memories." Ozpin said.
"You understand why don't you?" Mace asked.
"He's told me the reason, but that doesn't make this right." Ozpin said.
"Then we'll ask Quinlan if he will lead this investigation. He might be willing to do it." Mace said.
Rosa was once again floating in Bacta. She was in the hallway again, but this time, she could see more of it.
"Come. You know what you've done. You felt it. The power."
"Why can I see more?" Rosa asked.
"You tasted the dark once more." Rosa looked down at her hands.
"I shouldn't have done that. I just couldn't help myself. I just had to do it." Rosa said.
"I understand. I'm not judging you. I want to praise you. You're taken your first step, not a wider world. The dark isn't something to be scared of."
"I'm a Jedi." Rosa said.
"Until they find out what you did, and trust me, one day soon, they will. You can't hide it. It's a part of you. It's so helplessly a part of you that you can't live without it."
Ruby felt turmoil inside Rosa. The rest of her team did as well. Weiss was in one of the tanks recently, but she got out. The scar was visible still. Just another scar to add to the increasing number.
"I can't believe the Grimm got so close to Beacon." Blake said. She couldn't look at Rosa. The scars on her weren't fading. And almost all of them were brand new. Whatever she went through when she was captured must have been horrible.
"How did she kill the Sith?" Yang asked.
They only found out she killed a Sith when they turned on the second lightsaber. The red blade scared them.
"Only she knows…" Ruby said. She put her hand on the tank.
"Ruby…" Yang started.
"It's time to go. Rosa needs her rest."
Shaak Ti walked along side Weiss the next day.
"Padawan, it's time." Shaak Ti said.
"Time for what?"
"You are going to create your own lightsaber, but first, you need to find a Kyber crystal. Like the one around your neck."
"I'm going to make a lightsaber?" Weiss asked for confirmation.
"Yes. You and Pyrrha Nikos are going." Shaak Ti said.
Weiss nodded her head. She would create a lightsaber.
Author's Notes: Volume 2 is done! Also, I think I should explain what I see this story as. This is a place I go when I need it, write a little, then put the chapter back on the shelf until I need it again. I could tell you all the reasons why I didn't upload recently, but it all comes down to the fact that I write this in bursts when I need it. Of course, I'm always thinking about this story and kicking myself for not uploading it in a while. Thank you for everything you do when you read my stories, even when I don't upload in a while.
