paradise dazzleshine, who owns Luna, asked for this one. Here you go, Amiga! :) Enjoy! :)

Undertale belongs to Toby Fox. I own nothing. The song "This Is Me" and the movie "The Greatest Showman" belong to their respective owners. The song "My Boy (My Girl version)" belongs to Elvie Shane. If you haven't heard that song yet, you should. It's a beautiful song. :)

A Duet To An Instant Fave

Mettaton hummed happily as he walked down the halls. "Oh, I can't wait for Friday night!" He said, doing a dance before spotting Alphys and smiling. "Alphys, darling!" He said, coming up behind her and lifting her up into his arms before spinning her around, hugging her close.

Alphys, not expecting to be suddenly picked up, yelped a little, but then giggled. "M-Mettaton!" She stuttered out while turning a little red.

"Oh, come now. You deserve a great big hug for helping me get everything ready for the talent show coming up," he said, setting his creator down gently before hugging her again. "Thank you so much, darling. For real."

Alphys smiled. "You're welcome, Mettaton," she said.

Undyne came in and smirked. "Hey, when's the show?" She asked.

"Friday night around seven o'clock," Mettaton said. "Would you like to sign up, Undyne?"

"Thanks, but I'll pass," she said. "I can't really carry a tune, even if I love to jam to rock and roll."

The robot smiled before perking up. "Oh! I must ask Luna," he said. "She has a wonderful voice. I bet she'd love to participate in it."

With that, he quickly moved to find his daughter while Undyne hugged Alphys and helped her move some of the heavy stuff around the lab.

Mettaton hummed happily as he found Luna helping Gaster in his lab. "So the temperature needs to be converted to Kelvin from both Fahrenheit and Celsius?" She asked.

"That's right, little one," he said. "Do you want to try this one on your own? I'll be right here if you get stuck."

She nodded, but before she could begin to work on the problem, she jumped at feeling two arms surround her from behind. "There's my lovely daughter," came the familiar voice of her father, making her sigh in relief before tilting her head back to look up at him.

"Dad, you scared me," she said with a smile.

"Oh, I'm sorry, pumpkin," he said, gently stroking her wolf ears and making her snuggle into his hug. "What are you up to?"

"Uncle Gaster agreed to help me with my science homework as I'm studying how to convert Fahrenheit and Celsius to Kelvin," she replied. "He did an experiment to help me out."

"I figured a little hands-on experience wouldn't hurt, especially since it is for her schooling," Gaster said, smiling.

"Thank you, Gaster," Mettaton said, smiling before looking at his daughter. "Luna, I have something you might be interested in."

"What is it?" She asked.

He pulled out a poster for the talent show. "There's a talent show coming up and I thought about you, since you do have such a lovely voice," he said, smiling.

"She can sing?" Gaster asked, surprised.

"And quite well too," Mettaton said. "Her singing drew me to her when I first saw her at the orphanage."

Luna looked at the poster and got nervous. Yes, she could sing, but she got bad stage fright too. "Um, Dad?" She said, getting his attention. "Thank you, but...I'll pass."

He blinked before looking worried. "Are you sure, pumpkin?" He asked, gently cupping the right side of her face, his thumb rubbing her cheek in a soothing manner.

She nodded, his touch comforting her. "I'm sure," she said. "I just...I don't really do well performing in front of people."

Mettaton smiled understandingly. "I understand, sweetheart," he said, his voice comforting. "I forgot you get stage fright. I'm sorry."

"It's okay, Dad," she said, hugging him. "I'm sorry to disappoint you."

The robot blinked in shock. "Disappoint me?" He asked, gently tilting her face up to look at him. "Pumpkin, who gave you that idea?"

"No one," she said. "You just seemed disappointed that I don't want to be in the talent show."

"Oh, no, no, Luna," he said, stroking her head. "Sweetheart, I would never force you to sing on stage in front of an audience if it makes you uncomfortable. I love you too much to do that."

She looked at him and he smiled. "You don't have to do the talent show if you don't want to, pumpkin, but please don't ever think that I'm disappointed in you. I'm so proud of you and proud to be your father. I could never be disappointed in you, Luna. Never."

"He's right, Luna," Gaster said, smiling. "Every time Mettaton sees anyone he knows, he's always bragging about you, little one. Sometimes we have to tell him to shut up."

The skeleton said the last part playfully, which made Mettaton stick out his tongue at him, which made Luna giggle at her father's antics.

A couple days later...

It was Friday and the talent show was that night. Luna had been thinking about it for the past two days and now walked up to the sign-up sheet, glancing around to make sure no one was watching before signing up for it. She then moved away and went to get ready, picking out a song that she felt was the best one for her to sing.

The night came quickly and Mettaton was enjoying the talent show, going through the list of names as one by one, many either sang, did a few magic tricks, or did some silly little skit that made the audience roar with laughter. Even Sans had participated, making many of the audience members laugh themselves silly while a few groaned goodnaturedly at his puns and jokes.

Shaking his head with a smile, he then glanced at the list and saw there was one more. "The Lone Wolf?" He asked himself.

"And for our final contestant, it's The Lone Wolf!" Undyne, who had agreed to call out the names of the contestants, said. "Let's see what they have in store for us."

The spotlight shone from behind the curtain, framing a silhouette a someone standing there as music began to play and the words to "This Is Me," from "The Greatest Showman" began playing.

Mettaton sat up straight as he heard the person's voice and blinked. "Luna?" He asked himself softly before quietly getting up from his seat and slipping backstage to look behind the closed curtain.

Sure enough, it was his daughter and she was singing so beautifully, the song fitting the moment perfectly. As Luna continued singing, she slowly walked out from behind the curtain and onto the stage, singing with all her heart and surprising the audience with her voice, which carried well and filled them with awe.

As Luna reached the halfway point of the song, she suddenly heard a familiar voice begin singing and she turned to find her father coming onto the stage to join her. She was surprised, but smiled happily as she and her father continued singing the song.

They ended the duet perfectly and the audience burst into loud applause as they rose to their feet, cheering loudly. "Encore!" Someone called out and the audience picked up the chant, making Mettaton smile and look at his daughter.

"What do you think, pumpkin?" He asked.

She grinned and nodded. "You pick the song this time," she said.

He nodded and motioned for Napstablook, who put on the song that Mettaton had just texted him to play. The song began to play and the audience was quiet as the familiar song filled the room. Luna gasped as she recognized the song and tears filled her eyes as her father began signing "My Girl" by Elvie Shane, each word hitting true before Luna managed to clear her throat and sing along with her father.

When the song finished, the audience was teary eyed, but stood up and applauded the father-daughter duo once again.

Mettaton turned to his daughter, who had tears running down her face as she looked at him and he gently wiped away her tears, hugging her. "You alright, Luna?" He asked.

She nodded and Alphys came out excitedly. "Look! Look!" She said, holding up her phone as the talent show had been live streamed.

The comments were pouring in along with the likes. People were loving the father-daughter duo and commenting how Mettaton was a true father to his daughter, who was lucky to have such a great father.

Later that night, Luna was reading a book in bed when Mettaton came in to tuck her in and he smiled. "Luna, I'm so proud of you for overcoming your stage fright," he said. "You surprised me."

She smiled. "I thought about it and decided it wouldn't hurt to at least try to sing in front of others," she said. "And Dad? That song you sang. I don't think you could have picked a better song to describe us."

The robot smiled and hugged his daughter. "I knew you'd enjoy it," he said. "I did the moment I first heard it."

Luna snuggled into her father's hug happily before yawning and feeling her father rub her back. "Bedtime, pumpkin," he said gently.

She settled down and he tucked her in, kissing her forehead before he began humming the same song they had sung together earlier in a softer tone. By the time he finished humming the song, Luna was sound asleep and Mettaton smiled as he kissed her forehead gently again. "I love you, pumpkin. Sweet dreams," he said softly before leaving the room, finding Gaster, Alphys, and Undyne in the hallway looking at Alphys' phone and smiling. Curious, he went up to them and Alphys showed him the pictures from the talent show that people were posting of him and Luna, calling them a perfect father-daughter duo.

He smiled. "Looks like we went from a duet to an instant fave," he said.

"One that won't be forgotten," Gaster said.

"Good choice on the song, Mettaton," Undyne said with a smile. "It was the perfect one for you and Luna."

Mettaton nodded as Luna slept on in her room, her mind filled with dreams of her father and her singing more songs together.

This one really took off on me. :)
