I do not own Buffy: The Vampire Slayer or Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Brett had left Matt and Faith alone in the interrogation room, while Faith narrowed her eyes at Matt. "You're a public defender?" She asked. "Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the help but I don't have the money to pay you."

"No. Actually, Wolfram & Hart is paying the bill." Matt explained and then it hit Faith. "I'm not a fan of corporate law firms, especially with the likes of Wolfram & Hart defending certain… kind of clientele but the CEO of the Los Angeles branch vouched for you and I heard he's a good man."

"So Angel sent you?" Faith realized.

"I've heard that he has good reputation in Los Angeles as a PI and while I don't trust Wolfram & Hart, from what I can tell, Angel's heart is in the right place, even though I may not agree with some of his methods, plus, I've read your file." Matt said.

"So I'm a charity case for you?" Faith asked, quite offended.

"Well, I'm a Catholic, I have a soft spot for hopeless causes." Matt chuckled as Faith chuckled back. From what she knew about Matt from the news, his heart was in the right place, even though the Punisher trial put him in a bit of a bad light. "Well, Miss Lehane, may I ask what brings you to New York?"

"Traveling. Hiking. Whatever you wanna call it. Just passing by." Faith said with a shrug. "Look, let's just get to the point, what are my charges here?"

"None, actually." Matt said as she looked at him in surprise. "From the witnesses' statements, what happened back in the alley was self-defense."

"So I'm free to go?" Faith asked.

"Mm-hmm." Matt nodded. "However, the assailants aren't human, from what the autopsy says, so they may be Enhanced or Inhumans and due to pending investigation, you'll need to make yourself available for follow-up questions, so…"

"…don't leave town in the meantime, right, got it." Faith nodded as she sighed. "I was just passing by but… I have some money for drinks and one or two of nights in a motel."

"Or you can sleep over at my place." Matt offered as Faith looked at him incredulously.

"Do you always offer strangers a place to sleep in your home? For all you know, I'm a psychotic serial killer that is only waiting to slit your throat in your sleep." Faith pointed out. From what she could tell about Matt, he wasn't really trying to use her unlike Mayor Wilkins or Wolfram & Hart and his heart did seem in the right place, but…

"Well, you're not the first seemingly hopeless cause that I have offered to sleep at my place, plus, I trust my gut and it tells me that you're not that hopeless." Matt chuckled as she chuckled back.

"I guess your gut must be really good."

Later that night, Matt invited Faith into his apartment, remembering his first encounter with Karen years ago.

"I don't have much in the way of the food but there is a Thai place around the corner. If we order now, it should get here by the time I make up the bedroom for you." Matt said as he turned on the light for Faith.

"I'm not really hungry but I had a rough night. Could use a shower and some clean clothes." Faith said and Matt nodded.

"Suit yourself. Let me get you something." Matt said as he turned to his bedroom and opened the closet, while Faith began taking off her clothes, mainly to tease Matt and test whether he was really blind. When he returned, she had stripped herself naked, her clothes were scattered on the floor and he didn't seem to react to her nudity, so there was that as he handed her the shirt and jeans.

"Thanks." Faith said.

"The bathroom is the second door on the right." Matt said as he pointed at the hallway, while Faith went to take a shower as Matt sat down.

Faith entered the shower and turned on the water as the warm water began spraying down on her from above as she took a deep breath and took a handful of shampoo in her hand and began rubbing it against her arms and chest, washing away the sweat and dirt before she also took her time to cleaning every inch of her skin on her body before the shampoo was washed off too and then she turned off the water and picked a towel to dry herself off and then put on the clothes Matt had given her. Faith exited the bathroom, while Matt was pouring himself a drink.

"Want some?" Matt asked.

"Coffee?" Faith asked.

"Tea." Matt said.

"Sure." Faith nodded as Matt approached her and handed her the mug of tea, while drinking his. "You won't mind if I ask you a personal question?"

"No, I haven't always been blind." Matt said as he and Faith chuckled.

"I'm guessing everyone asks you that." Faith said.

"That or 'How do you comb your hair?'" Matt asked as they chuckled again.

"How do you comb your hair?" Faith asked jokingly as Matt chuckled once more.

"Honestly, you just hope for the best." Matt said as they sat down. "I lost my sight in a car accident when I was nine."

"I'm sorry." Faith said in sympathy.

"It was hard at first but I made it through." Matt assured.

"Do you remember what it was like…" Faith trailed off.

"…to see?" Matt finished and Faith nodded before she realized her wouldn't notice her nodding.

"Yeah." Faith said.

"I do. And I won't lie, I do miss it at times but I moved past it long ago." Matt said as Faith nodded.

"OK. Few more questions, if you don't mind." Faith said and Matt nodded. "How can a blind man like you fight the way you did earlier tonight?"

That question caught Matt completely off-guard as he looked shocked.

"It's quite convenient that you come to help me out, when the Devil of Hell's Kitchen helped me earlier tonight. I recognized your voice when you entered the police station and it wouldn't be the first time I'd hear about a blind person being an excellent fighter." Faith said, remembering when Angel had mentioned going against Vanessa Brewer who was a blind assassin who held her own against Angel.

"I had a good teacher who helped me get through my blindness." Matt said, realizing there was no point denying it now. "And the accident may have taken away my sight but my other senses have been greatly enhanced."

"And that's why you spend the nights as Daredevil?" Faith asked.

"No one should suffer the way I did." Matt said, remembering his father's death and Faith nodded and judging from the silence, Matt realized it as he chuckled. "You just nodded, did you?"

"Yeah, sorry." Faith said with a chuckle.

"Now's my turn to ask some questions." Matt said as Faith sighed. "What are you, exactly and what happened back in the alley? Since learning about aliens and cosmic stones that can erase half of all life, there's not much I won't believe but you'll excuse me if I'm outside of my territory. Like what monsters did I face back there."

"Would you believe me if I told you?" Faith asked.

"I'm a human lie detector, Faith." Matt pointed out, making her smile.

"Well…" Faith took a breath and rubbed her face, trying to find the words to begin the tale. "I should probably start from the beginning. In every generation, there is a Slayer…"

"…and then after Sunnydale, Buffy and others went to search the world and recruit other Slayers, while looking for those who may be a threat with their abilities, just like I once was." Faith explained and Matt nodded, even though he seemed exasperated by the end of the tale, what really took the cake was learning about every potential Slayer in the whole world getting their powers as he imagined other women getting the abilities of the Black Sky and having even less restraint than Elektra had, even though Matt had managed to get through to her and help her pull back from the edge.

"Do you even realize what you did?" Matt demanded. "I mean, what if some unstable woman—"

"I know, that is why we're trying to handle and contain other Slayers who may be like I once was." Faith said as Matt listened to her heartbeat, sensing that she was genuine and while that didn't make him any less angry about the situation, at least they were trying to do something about it and there was no point arguing about it anymore as he calmed down before she yawned, realizing how tired she was.

"I'll let you get some sleep." Matt said as he got up and went into the bedroom as Faith laid down before turning to Matt.

"Mr. Murdock?" Faith called as he stopped. "Thanks for helping me, even if you didn't have to."

"It's no problem. And, please, it's 'Matt.'" Matt said as he turned to her with a smile.

"Thanks, Matt." Faith said as Matt closed the door behind him, while she closed her eyes and went to sleep.

I hope how Faith figures Matt out makes sense. The interactions between them are inspired by Aragorn II Elessar's 'Avengers, Devil, Slayer and Stones'

Considering Dana in Angel 5x11, Buffy's plan to activate all the Potentials in the world was beyond stupid, no matter how desperate it was, so that's why Matt reacted like that. Imagine Mary Walker, Antonia Dreykov (Taskmaster) or Karli Morgenthau (she already had Super Soldier strength but you get my point) getting Slayer powers and you know that it can't end well.
