Here we are with Chapter 3 of the Synchro Arc. I was really excited to write this chapter as my favorite characters finally come together.

No questions to answer, so let's go on to the chapter.

Chapter 03: The Dimension Guardians

Commons Area – Main Street

Yuzu, Ruri, Rin and Serena had their Duel Disks confiscated by Mikage along with their decks.

"I can't believe this…" Rin thought as she saw Mikage handcuffing Yuzu behind her back.

"Security is supposed to use Goyo monsters to take control of our monsters once they're destroyed." Mikage handcuffed Ruri behind her back.

"But Machine Emperor…I've never heard of that archetype before." Mikage handcuffed Serena behind her back.

"Come to think of it, she's not even wearing a Security Uniform. Wait, wasn't there an officer that…" Rin was trying to figure out who Mikage was.

"Hey. Hands behind your back." Mikage ordered.

"Y-Yes." Rin put her hands behind her back and Mikage handcuffed her.

"Get in." Mikage opened the back of her door and Yuzu, Ruri and Serena got in.

Rin was about to go in but then she saw Mikage's badge under her jacket collar and her eyes widened.

Orphanage Garage (One Week Before Rin Was Transported to Standard)

Rin had just finished running another diagnostic on her engine but the results came up with errors. "Come on. Why aren't you working?"

"And in Tops News Today." Rin had the TV on and Melissa Claire was reporting.

"Today is a historic day as Officer Mikage Sagiri has successfully become the first female officer to ascend to the ranks of Elite Officer while maintaining a perfect case record! Congratulations, Ms. Elite Officer." Melissa congratulated Mikage.

"Thank you very much." Mikage smiled.

"You have become a huge inspiration to women and teenage girls. Any advice you can give them on the road to success?" Melissa asked.

"Well, ironically, my way to success was following the words of a man, our current Duel King, Jack Atlas. If you have a goal you are trying to accomplish, you must not falter! You have to give everything a 110% because by dedicating all your time into what you want for your future, dreams can become reality." Mikage reported.

"Of course, our Duel King Jack Atlas is an inspiration to everyone of all ages…" Melissa praised.

"A perfect case record? There's no way she's that strong." Rin shrugged it off and went back to work.

Commons Area – Main Street (Present)

"I know you!" Rin said. "You're Mikage Sagiri, the only Sector Security Officer to have a perfect record!"

"And I plan on keeping it." Mikage put Rin in the car. She then went to the front and drove off with the girls.

As she drove away, Yuya came out of the alley and punched the wall in frustration. "We're off to a great start." Yuya sarcastically stated.

"I'm sorry, Yuya. But you know I was right." Yugo responded. "Come on, you got to find Jonouchi. Maybe he can help you."

"Okay." Yuya walked the other way before looking back where the girls were arrested. "Knowing you four, you'll try to escape on your own. But if you can't, wait for me. I'll definitely get you out." Yuya then started running.

Prisoner Transport Truck (Boys)

"Hey! I know you're listening to me!" Sawatari shouted at the camera. "You're making a big mistake! We are the good guys! We are the Lancers, we're the good guys!"

"Lancers? What is that?" Ushio enabled communication.

"A group of Duel Warriors that is gonna crush Academia! We're here to make an alliance with the Synchro Dimension, to fight against them!" Sawatari argued.

"And who is this, Academia?" Ushio asked.

"They're a group full of Duel Soldiers that invade dimensions! They destroyed the Xyz Dimension with their Fusion Summon without warning!" Sawatari explained.

"So, this Academia came out of nowhere?" Ushio asked.

"That's right!" Sawatari pointed out.

"And you guys came out of nowhere?" Ushio asked again.

"Correct!" Sawatari argued.

"And the Lancers are gonna crush Academia while dragging innocent people into the crosshairs of war?" Ushio asked.

"That is…" Sawatari then stopped. "Uh…no, we don't want to get innocent people involved."

"No offense boy, but Lancers doesn't sound like a group of good guys. If anything, it makes you sound like invaders." Ushio pointed out the flaw.

"I like to invoke my right to remain silent." Sawatari said.

"You do that." Ushio ended the chat.

"Good job with the negotiations, Sawatari." Gongenzaka sarcastically stated.

"Hey, at least I didn't get myself wiped out first!" Sawatari argued.

"Sawatari, you're breaking your silence." Dennis pointed out.

"I hate all of you!" Sawatari shouted.

Commons Area – Flea Market

"Thanks." Yuya bought a sandwich from a merchant as he was getting hungry. "I'm pathetic, here I am eating a sandwich while my friends are off to jail." Yuya took a bite.

"I'll tell you what's pathetic, they ripped you off on the pickles." Yugo said.

"Not helping!" Yuya growled.

"Sorry, but I assure you things will get better." Yugo said.

"Hey, it's him!" Yuya turned and there were two Security Officers.

"But they have to get worse first." Yugo added.

"Get him!" The two officers chased after Yuya.

"Damn it!" Yuya ran away.

"Out of the way! Clear the road!" The Commons parted as the officers held up their badges.

Yuya kept running and saw a fire escape. He jumped on the edge of a dumpster and grabbed the ladder and started climbing.

"You're not getting away!" The first officer followed Yuya's moves and started catching up and climbed the fire escape.

Yuya threw his sandwich down and it hit the officer in the face. "Argh! Mustard in my eye! It stings!" The officer lost his grip and fell into the dumpster.

"I'll follow him from the ground!" The second officer followed Yuya.

Yuya kept jumping across the rooftops and saw the second officer following him. "I gotta lose him." Yuya looked on the other side and saw a stand full of different objects and he had an idea.

Yuya turned and jumped down from the roof and on the ground. "He's going down on the other side!" The officer was slowing down as he was now in a crowd of people. "Move, I'm Security!"

Yuya went to the stand and grabbed a bunch of random objects and placed a stack of cash on the vendor's counter. "Keep the change!" Yuya ran away.

"Thank you." The vendor thanked.

The officer rounded around the corner and he saw Yuya. "Caught ya!" He threw himself on top of Yuya, only to have something wet hit his face.

"What the?" The officer saw the he just tackled a scarecrow of Yuya made out of the objects Yuya bought from the vendor. The head was a tomato and Yuya's jacket was used to complete it.

Yuya turned to another corner only to find a dead end. "Damn it, a dead end!" Yuya cursed.

"He can't be that far ahead!"

"I'm gonna teach that punk a lesson!"

Yuya turned as he heard the officers closing in on him.

"Over here!" Yuya turned back to the dead end, which was actually a door and Rua and Rio were gesturing at him.

"Hurry!" Rio insisted.

Yuya quickly dashed and the door closed. "Shh." Rua shushed them as he leaned his head against the door.

"I thought he went this way?"

"Argh, I can't see. The mustard is still hurting my eyes. Let's just return to base."

"I swear I'm gonna get my hands on that punk and beat him to a pulp."

"Get in line."

"Alright, they're leaving. We're safe for now." Rua smiled.

"That was close." Rio breathed a sigh of relief.

"Thanks. You saved me." Yuya thanked.

"Don't mention it." Rua said. "Anything to help out a friend."

Yuya looked at Rua and his eyes widened. "Wait, I know you." Yuya said. "You were in the Battle Royal and defeated the Obelisk Force in Standard."

"You saw that. How did I look? Did I look cool? Did l look heroic?" Rua asked.

"Uh, yeah. You were really cool." Yuya answered.

"Yes, I'm really nailing down the hero part." Rua cheered.

"Rua loves superheroes." Rio explained. "He was ecstatic when we asked him the join the team."

"Team?" Yuya asked.

"Hi, I'm Rio Kamishiro. Member of the Resistance and resident of the Xyz Dimension." Rio held out her hand and pointed to her red scarf tied around her wrist.

"You're from the Xyz Dimension?" Yuya's eyes widened as he shook her hand.

"Yep, and I guess you know Rua is a resident of the Synchro Dimension." Rio confirmed.

"Traveling dimensions and recruiting allies." Yuya muttered. That was Valon had told him about Jonouchi's activities after their Duel. Does that mean…

"Come on, let's introduce you to the others!" Rua took Yuya's hand and dragged him off with Rio behind them.

Dimension Guardians Hideout

Rua and Rio brought Yuya to a very spacious room with a hologram map of the city, a card design machine, entertainment area and kitchen.

"Whoa…" Yuya was amazed by the room.

"Asuka! Jonouchi! We brought our newest recruit!" Rio called out. Yuya perked when Rio said Jonouchi's name.

Asuka was looking at the map of the city and perked her head up and she saw Yuya. "Oh my god…" Asuka covered her mouth with her hands. "You did survive." Asuka went up to Yuya and pulled him into a hug.

"Wait a minute…I've seen them before!" Yuya recalled. When he first learned about the other dimensions with Yuzu, Ruri and Rin back at You Show. He saw the other dimensions.

He saw Rio mourning the loss of her friends in Heartland. He saw Rua sneaking between the Tops and Commons. And Asuka was there in the aftermath of Yuto, Yugo's and Yuri's demise.

"Of course, he's my nephew after all." Yuya gasped as he and Asuka separated. He knew that voice. It was the voice that inspired him to be a True Duelist, a Duelist independent of his father. "You've grown up, Yuya." Jonouchi smiled.

"Uncle Jonouchi!" Yuya ran to Jonouchi and hugged him.

"Whoa!" Jonouchi almost lost his footing. "And you've become stronger too."

"Uncle…I…so much has happened…Mom and I were worried about you." Yuya let his tears fall down his face.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to leave you on purpose." Jonouchi apologized.

"I know…you were trying to stop dad." Yuya wiped his tears.

"How'd you know that?" Jonouchi asked.

Yuya then revealed the dreams that he had ever since he discovered the Pendulum Summon as well as his origins before he was found by Yoko.

"I have to admit, learning that you were part of Dragon Soldier Squad took me by surprise." Jonouchi admitted. "If Samejima didn't show me everything, I probably wouldn't have believed it."

"You met Master Samejima?" Yuya asked.

"Yeah…I guess I should tell you what happened after I was transported." Jonouchi closed his eyes and recalled what happened to him.

Fusion Dimension – 3 Years Ago

Particles appeared on a beach and Jonouchi crashed into the sand. "Yusho!" Jonouchi stood up ready to fight Yusho again but he wasn't there. "Huh? Where is he?"

Jonouchi looked around and he saw a ruined castle in front of him. "Whoa! What is this place?" Just then the ground shook and Jonouchi lost his balance and he saw smoke rising from an area away from the castle

"What's happening?" Jonouchi rushed towards the smoke and his eyes widened. A small house was burning to the ground and a group of kids wearing blue, yellow and red jackets laughing as they were turning children into cards.

"You bastards!" Jonouchi saw Valon attacking them. He saw Valon violently beat the ones in blue and yellow and the one in red ran away. "Everyone…I'm sorry." Valon hugged the cards.

Jonouchi was horrified by what he saw. But it wasn't by Valon beating up the students, it was the students turning little kids into cards. Jonouchi went up to Valon and put and hand on his shoulder. "I'm sorry."

"Who are you?!" Valon threw Jonouchi's hand off him and prepared his Duel Disk. "Are you one of them?!"

"No, I'm not even from here." Jonouchi admitted.

"Let your cards do the talking!" Valon activated his Duel Disk.

"Damn it." Jonouchi activated his Duel Disk.

Both Jonouchi and Valon exchanged cards and tactics with each other, but neither of them yielded. "My turn!" Valon was about to draw.

"That's enough, Valon!" Both Valon and Jonouchi turned to see Rafael, Amelda and a man with long light blue hair. "This man is an ally."

"Principal Dartz." Valon said.

"Principal?" Jonouchi questioned.

"Come with me." Dartz instructed Jonouchi to follow him.

Fusion Dimension – Atlantis Duel School

"I was transported to the Fusion Dimension at the Atlantis School." Jonouchi explained.

"So, you met Valon, Rafael and Amelda?" Yuya asked.

Dartz was explaining the dimensions to Jonouchi, who was surprised to learn that the world was divided into four and that they were based on the different summon methods.

"That's right. Dartz explained the dimensions to me as well as Academia and Leo Akaba's plan to create ARC-V." Jonouchi verified.

Jonouchi offered his assistance to help the Atlantis Duelists, but Valon didn't trust Jonouchi since he was an outsider. They then Dueled once more and Jonouchi won.

"I offered to help, but Valon didn't trust me so we had a Duel where I earned his trust." Jonouchi explained. "However, Dartz said that my Fusion Summon needed to be improved so he directed me to Samejima, who was hiding out on the mainland running an underground school of Academia defectives."

Fusion Dimension – Samejima's Laboratory

Jonouchi arrived and an empty alley and reached the dead end. "Okay…" Jonouchi pulled out a piece of paper. "Left, Across, Up, Quarter Circle, Center." Jonouchi pressed on some of the bricks and a secret door opened. Jonouchi went down and saw some students practicing their Dueling.

"Turns out a lot of students had the courage to leave and fight Leo Akaba. I told them I came from another dimension and showed my Duel Disk as proof. They brought me to Samejima." Jonouchi explained. "Samejima offered to enhance my Fusion by creating more Red-Eyes Fusion Monsters. And it was then, that I discovered your past.

As Samejima was making the cards, Jonouchi found the file on the Dragon Soldiers. "Hey, what's this?" Jonouchi asked.

Samejima saw the file and looked down. "My greatest achievement and my greatest failure." Samejima said. "A year ago. A fellow Professor named Cobra was using students as experiments to revive the dead. I felt something had to be done. It was then that I heard the voices of dragons and four portals appeared before me. I went through each of them and found four boys with the same faces, each with a dragon of a different summon method."

"I raised them as my sons, and I feared that Cobra might use them for his experiments, so I trained them into the first Duel Soldiers, who I dubbed the Dragon Soldiers due to their dragons. I gave them the mission to rescue the students used in Cobra's experiments and they succeeded." Samejima explained.

"But when Leo Akaba came and took away my school, he learned of their existence and said they were dangerous. I tried to protect them; I really did…but I lost three of them. The fourth one was never to be found." Samejima shed tears.

"I'm sorry." Jonouchi apologized.

"No, it's alright. They shouldn't be forgotten and I can't give up if the fourth one is still out there. I believe…I believe that Yuya is okay." Samejima said.

Jonouchi's eyes widened. "Wait, Yuya? Yuya Sakaki?" Jonouchi asked. "Hair in the color of a tomato, red-eyes and Odd-Eyes Dragon."

"How do you know that?" Samejima asked in shock.

"He's my nephew!" Jonouchi revealed. "Well, surrogate nephew, but he's just fine. He's learning to be a True Duelist!"

"He's alive…my son is alive…" Samejima fell to his knees and this time crying tears of joy.

"Samejima was so happy to know that you were okay." Jonouchi said.

"I wish I could tell him that myself." Yuya admitted.

"Once the cards were completed, I spent three years enhancing my Fusion Summon and then a month ago, I met Asuka." Jonouchi revealed.

Dimension Guardians Hideout

"Asuka?" Yuya turned to her.

"I was Double Agent for Samejima." Asuka revealed. "I was tasked to find out about Academia's plan. Me and brother, Fubuki, we went undercover and learned that Leo Akaba was gonna sent students to the Xyz Dimension to spread the word about ARC-V."

"Neither of us were chosen to be in the first squad, so we waited to hear what would happen. But it wasn't what we expected. They talked about turning the people of the Xyz Dimension into cards. At first, we thought it was ridiculous, but then we saw a teacher turn a runaway student into a card and we knew we had to get away but…" Asuka closed her eyes. "My brother was taken away from me…I never saw him again."

"I'm sorry." Yuya apologized.

"The Juvenile Officers were after me and I tried my best to hold them back, but they just kept coming after me and I had no energy. I would've been turned into a card if it wasn't for Jonouchi." Asuka looked at Jonouchi.

"After Asuka told us what had happened. We knew we had to act. So, Samejima gave us the ability to travel between dimensions." Jonouchi revealed.

"We went to the Xyz Dimension and it was worse than what I've heard." Asuka said. "The people were afraid of Dueling. They wanted nothing to do with us. We were gonna leave until we saw some soldiers ganging up on Rio."

"It just happened out of nowhere." Rio looked at her Resistance scarf. "My friends and I were just hanging out like we do any day. We would Duel, have lunch, play some sports and just have fun."

"But then those Antique Gear just started destroying everything everywhere. We were hiding out at our school, but the entire building collapsed. How I survived was a mystery, but I saw them turn all my friends into cards…and my brother too…" Rio could hear the pleas of her friends and the screams they made as they were turned into cards.

"I went to the Resistance Base to see if anyone else from my school survived, but the only ones that were left were members of the Clover Branch and the Spade Branch. The Diamond Branch was eradicated and I was the only survivor of the Heart Branch." Rio closed her eyes in frustration.

"I wanted to fight, not only for revenge but to see if there was a way to turn everyone back into cards, but nobody took me seriously. In fact, everyone thought I was just a nuisance." Rio clenched her fist. "So, I went out to find answers of my own, but soldiers found me and kept chasing me until Jonouchi and Asuka saved me."

"So…is there a way to change them back from cards?" Yuya asked.

"If there is the answer is in Academia, but it's heavily fortified." Asuka answered.

"So, after saving Rio, you guys have here to the Synchro Dimension." Yuya guessed.

"Yeah, and we were instantly surrounded by Security and they would've caught us if Rua hadn't bailed us out." Rio patted Rua's head.

"Well, he does have the skills to beat three members of the Obelisk Force, did you do something similar against them?" Yuya asked.

"Actually…" Rua chuckled.

Commons Area – Gambling District (A month ago)

"There's no where to run, you're surrounded!" Ushio shouted as he and his officers encircled Jonouchi, Asuka and Rio.

"Any ideas?" Rio asked.

"Not one that adds more charges against us." Asuka answered.

"I don't know why, but that guy makes me mad!" Jonouchi glared at Ushio.

"The feelings mutual!" Ushio glared at Jonouchi. "Get them!"

"Hold it! You're in the Gambling District!" Everyone turned to Rua who had a Vegas style table and playing cards with him. "You know the rules, everything is up to the Goddess of Luck!"

"He's right, sir." An officer was reading the Security handbook. "We have to follow the rules of the Gambling District!"

"Damn it, that's right." Ushio read the rule over.

"So, step right up! Money plays, loser stays! Everyone's a wi—well not everyone." Rua said.

"Alright, here's the bet. We win, you all go to jail." Ushio declared.

"Then if we win, you back off and leave us alone!" Jonouchi countered.

"Deal." Both Jonouchi and Ushio shook as Rua shuffled the cards and dealt them out.

"The game is Black Jack with two decks. Card sir?" Rua asked Jonouchi.

"Hit me." Jonouchi said right away.

"Whoa, whoa, slow down! At least look at your cards." Rua said. "Guy's about as sharp as a bowling ball."

Jonouchi looked at his card. An ace. "Hit me!" He put it next to the 2 card.

"No, hit me first!" Ushio argued.

"Officer, you have to wait your turn." Rua said.

"Hit me!" Jonouchi said again Rua drew a card and it was another ace.

"Hit me!" Another ace.

"Hit me!" Another ace.

"Hit me!" A two card.

"Hit me!" Ushio growled.

"Hit me!" Jonouchi said again and Rua continued with Jonouchi with another ace.

"Hit me!" Another ace.

"Hit me! Another ace.

"For the love of God! I want you to hit me!" Ushio shouted angrily.

Rua looks at Rio and Asuka with a if you say so look. He then hit Ushio on the head with a plank of wood and Ushio still had his Riding Duel helmet on him. "He's an Elite Officer." Rua explained to the shocked trio.

"It's stuck on my head!" Ushio tried getting his helmet off. "Get it off! Get it off!" The other officers were distracted and tried to get the helmet of their senior's head.

"Card sir?" Rua asked Jonouchi.

"H-Hit me?" Jonouchi winced.

Rua played a Queen. "21 a winner! And your prize is a smoke bomb!" Rua threw a smoke bomb down. "Quick, this way." Rua led Jonouchi, Asuka and Rio away from the officers.

"This is why I hate kids." Ushio growled as his helmet was finally removed.

Dimension Guardians Hideout

"And then they told me their mission so I decided to help them out by testing out their communications by traveling to Standard." Rua revealed. "Until know, we could only contact each other long distances so long as we're in the same dimension, now we can talk while in different dimensions."

"Thanks to that test, I was able to contact Kaiba and explain everything to him." Jonouchi revealed.

"So, that's why Kaiba appeared." Yuya understood. "You wanted me to find you."

"That's right." Jonouchi answered. "And thanks to Kaiba, we each got new Duel Disks." Each of their Duel Disks were different.

Jonouchi's looked like the original Duel Disk before Real Solid Vision was invented. Asuka's Duel Disk was a streamlined version that was gray and outlined with the color blue. Rua's was similar to Asuka's only smaller with blue and white with yellow gems. And Rio's was unique as the blade was purple and shaped like a crystal with a white body and yellow gems.

"Cool." Yuya was amazed by their Duel Disks. "Actually Jonouchi, I need your help."

"What is it?" Jonouchi asked.

"I didn't come alone. Yuzu, Gongenzaka and a bunch of my other friends also traveled to this Dimension, but they were captured by Security." Yuya pointed out.

"Seriously? Security is weak. Their Goyo monsters are predictable once you find the pattern." Rua said.

"But the woman that arrested Yuzu and the others didn't use Goyo Monsters. She used something called Machine Emperor." Yuya revealed.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa." Rua's eyes widened. "Machine Emperor? Are you serious?"

"Y-Yes…" Yuya answered.

"Oh man, then it was the Elite Officers who got them. Those guys are on a whole different level. One of their most dangerous effects is absorbing a monster it destroys in battle and gaining that absorbed monster's Attack Points. Fusion, Synchro and Xyz are basically food to them." Rua explained. "And even though they combine into a single monster, they're five individual monsters with different effects."

"How many are there?" Yuya asked.

"Three actually." Rua answered. "But knowing the Director, Jean Michel Roget, I wouldn't be surprised if he's developing a secret fourth one."

"And he's a traitor to Academia." Asuka added. "Rua saw some officers turning people into cards, that method is only used by someone from Academia."

"We have to save them." Yuya insisted. "Academia is after Yuzu, Serena, Rin and Ruri. They have something to do with ARC-V, but I don't want Leo Akaba get his hands on them. Sooner or later, Academia will come to this dimension."

"I know, Yuya. We will save them." Jonouchi assured Yuya. "But we're talking about breaking into a maximum-security prison. We can't just charge in blindly. We need to be prepared."

"But we have to do something!" Rua raised his voice. "The longer we do nothing, the less chance we have of changing Neo Domino and defeating Roget!"

"Rua…" Yuya was surprised by how vocal Rua was about changing Neo Domino and defeating Roget.

Rio put a hand on Rua's shoulder. "I know how important this is to you. But you know Jonouchi's right."

"I'm sorry." Rua apologized. "I just…because of Roget…Ruka…"

"Ruka?" Yuya asked.

"Ruka is my twin sister." Rua explained. "We did everything together. Our parents were Tops and they were always away on business. It was lonely but as long as I had Ruka, that was enough."

"But when Roget came, he enforced a law that a single loss will make a Tops resident lose their status. It didn't matter if we were just children, if we lost, we would be separated from our families." Rua revealed.

"Ruka was a talented Duelist, much better than me. But two years ago, after a Duel, she went into a coma. She was already so fragile; the doctors didn't know what to do…they even considered pulling the plug…" Rua started to tear up.

"Rua…" Yuya uttered.

"A year after she went into a coma, Security came to our house with a notice. Both Ruka and I had to compete in the local tournament and reach the Top 4 at best to keep our status as Tops, but if either one of us fell below we would lose our status." Rua revealed.

"So, I came up with a plan. I used our likeliness to impersonate Ruka. I thought if I could do this, I could keep watching over her without either of us losing our status. But…in the Quarterfinals…we were paired against each other." Rua said.

"I couldn't let Ruka be a Common. She needed to stay a Top. So, I gave up my status and begged my grandpa to find a way to keep Ruka out of Security's watch. Until then, I would live a double life. I would sneak back and forth between the Tops and the Commons so that Security wouldn't get suspicious." Rua explained.

"Ruka…always called me hero…said that I could do anything even though she was more talented than me. That's why…That's why I want to change Neo Domino! I want my sister to wake up in a city were everyone in equal! No Tops or Commons! And the first step to do that is to defeat Roget! I know it!" Rua cried.

Yuya, Jonouchi, Asuka and Rio looked at the crying Rua. They could see that he wanted to go through with his plan, but he couldn't' do it alone. He needed help.

"We will." Yuya said. "I don't like the way Neo Domino is run anyway. Besides, if Academia does invade this dimension, we have to unite both the Tops and Commons together if we are to win."

"Yeah, but Yuya. We're talking about changing a society that's lived by these rules for countless years. They're not gonna change just because we say that it's wrong or we don't like it." Asuka said.

"She's right." Rio said. "We're nobodies here. No one's gonna care about us or what we have to say."

"This isn't Maiami, Yuya." Jonouchi said. "We're playing Roget's game and he is in control."

Yuya wasn't sure what to say now. Everything they said was right. Roget is in control, they're nobody in the Synchro Dimension, no one would listen to them. Yuya looked around before he noticed a symbol of a shield and the words Dimension Guardians.

"Dimension Guardians?" Yuya read.

"Yeah, I figured if we're gonna be heroes we gotta be the friendly-neighborhood kind." Rua said.

"Heroes…" Yuya repeated. He recalled Yuri's last words to him before he, Yuto and Yugo fought Academia for the last time. To be a hero.

"Screw them!" Yuya shouted, getting everyone's attention. "Screw what the City thinks of us! Screw Roget's game! I look around at us and you know what I see? Potential. We all have the ability to become greater, but we're letting this war get the better of us."

"I know we have all lost something cause of this war. Our schools." Yuya looked at Asuka.

"Our homes." Yuya looked at Rio.

"Our families." Yuya looked at Rua

"Normal lives." Yuya looked at Jonouchi.

"Roget and Leo Akaba think they can do whatever they want. Sacrifice whoever they want just to achieve their goals. Well, I'm not gonna stand for it. And neither should any of you!" Yuya said.

"Right here…right now…we have a chance. A chance to change Neo Domino. A chance to get Heartland back. A chance to create a better future for all the dimensions!" Yuya continued.

"But Yuya, there's only five of us." Rio said.

"No…" Yuya answered. "We're not just five." Yuya held up his deck. "Think of all the Duels you've had with these cards." Everyone looked at their cards. "Every win, every loss, every combo, every summon, we use everything that we learned before and grow!"

"Let's use our Dueling to beat Roget at his own game! Let's use our Dueling to make Neo Domino see the world not as it is, but as it should be! Let's use our Dueling to protect the people that we love and give hope to those lost in despair!" Yuya got on his knees.

"Even though I am Dragon Soldier, I am still inexperienced in battle! That's why, I ask you!" Yuya lowered his head. "Please lend me your strength!"

Nobody said anything, they all looked at each other wondering what to do. Jonouchi then went up to Yuya. "Yuya…" Jonouchi grabbed Yuya by his shoulders and picked him up to his feet. "A leader doesn't kneel." Jonouchi then took a knee. "Sorry that I'm being a stupid uncle."

Asuka walked up to Yuya and took a knee. "I believe in you, Yuya. I will believe in the Dragon Soldier that I admire."

Rio walked up to Yuya. "I couldn't protect my friends. This time, I'll protect you, my new friend." Rio took a knee.

"W-We're gonna do this? Are we really gonna do this?" Rua walked up to Yuya with excitement in his eyes. Yuya nodded with a smile. Rua took a knee. "What do we do, Captain?"

"First, we free my friends. Show the City that Security isn't all they claim to be." Yuya said.

"What's the name of the team we're rescuing?" Rio asked.

"The Lancers." Yuya answered.

"The Lancers? They sound more like invaders than heroes." Rua commented.

"What idiot came up with that name?" Rio asked.

Yuya chuckled. "I like you guys."

"Okay, so how are we gonna break into a maximum-security prison?" Asuka asked.

"Well, this is just at the top of my head, but any chance that you know a person that has gone to the prison multiple times as a visitor?" Yuya asked.

"Yes!" Rua shouted. "Yes, I do! In fact, he should be putting on a show right now! Come on!" Rua headed for the exit.

"Where are we going?" Jonouchi asked.

"We're going to Enjoy!" Rua declared.

And finally, my dream team has fully been assembled. I really do love these five characters and they all deserved better than what they were portrayed in their respective shows.
