(AN) Hello there and welcome to the final chapter in my fan novelisation of Doctor Who: Genesis. I hope you all enjoy, and remember to Read and Review.
So, this will be much shorter than the last chapter, and will wrap up the story nicely.
Disclaimer: I don't own Doctor Who; all characters and locations are owned by the BBC; WIDWWA is owned by DaDoctorWhoFan.
Chapter Six
Returning to the Vortex
The Doctor parked the moped just outside Ian's flat. The Time Lady hopped off and placed the helmet on the seat. "I'm sure your owner will find you." she remarked before walking away.
The Doctor entered Ian's flat with the spare key, she then made her way through to the spare room and activated her comms.
"Caitrin, I've dealt with the Master," declared the Doctor, "Now there's just one last thing to be done."
"Well done, Doctor." congratulated Caitrin.
The Doctor flicked a switch and the machine powered up with a soft humming noise. The Doctor clicked a few keys and within a few moments there was a soft groaning noise that quickly became louder. A strong gust of wind picked up, which was accompanied by the familiar groaning and wheezing of the TARDIS. The blue box began to slowly fade in and out of existence; the lamp on the roof flashed.
"Come on, come to Daddy … uhhh, I mean Mummy." said the Doctor sheepishly.
After a few moments the TARDIS became fully solid with a soft thump. The exterior looked slightly different to how it used to; the colour was a different shade of blue.
"Hello, old girl," greeted the Doctor happily as she rested her hand on the box, "I've missed you."
The Doctor snapped her finger, causing the doors to swing open.
Upon entering the console room, the lights circling the room lit up, revealing its contents. The room had a more futuristic look to it and featured a console with more literal input devices and instrumentation, as well as a pair of secondary consoles on the railing of the main platform. The room was stark and mechanical; covered in tones of pink, creating an ambient glow that added warmth to the room. There were glowing circles over the hexagonal roundels on the lower floor; echoing the circular roundels of her earlier control rooms. The console room contained several items, including a reclining chair, bookshelves, candles, chalkboards, an additional staircase to the upper level and circular lights around the lower balcony. The control room featured pink lighting from the time rotor, Gallifreyan markings on the ceiling and above the time rotor; hexagonal roundels on the lower console level, and Gallifreyan markings on the top level. Several tiny lights went around the walls of the room in a straight line, flashing sections at a time. The console featured two screens, and what seemed to be a radar on one face. There were two additional consoles around the edge of the main level. It was also much darker than the previous iteration.
"You've redecorated, I like it." said the Doctor in awe.
The Doctor quickly ran over to the console, pressed a button that closed the doors, she then flicked a few switches before pulling the dematerialisation lever.
In the spare bedroom, the strong wind picked up again as the TARDIS made its familiar groaning and wheezing noises before slowly fading from existence.
The TARDIS was now flying through the time vortex, which was a purple colour.
In the console room, the Doctor activated her comms. The scanner screen flickered before showing Caitrin and Omega in the UNIT laboratory. "Caitrin Ryan, Omega, thank you for everything," she said, "I'm now back where I belong."
"You're very welcome," replied Caitrin, "What are you going to do about that machine?"
"It'll have fallen apart after using all that energy to summon the TARDIS," informed the Doctor, "Somebody will probably come in and mistake it for junk … which it essentially was."
The Doctor smiled at Omega.
"Omega, I forgive you for everything," stated the Doctor, "You may have almost destroyed the universe twice, but in the end you just wanted to live, and you've truly redeemed yourself in my eyes."
"Doctor, I was wrong," sighed Omega, "I was an inventor trying to improve the lives of Time Lords by giving them the ability to actually travel in time, but then I grew too greedy; I wanted to control everything, and thus allowed the power I had to go to my head. I was blinded to the fact that being a scientist made me a hero already."
The Doctor simply nodded before looking at Caitrin. Caitrin, I wouldn't normally allow this, but you can keep the time travel technology." she said.
"What? Doctor, are you sure?" cried Caitrin in surprise.
"Yes, I'm sure," replied the Doctor, "You've fully earned my trust. However, I will be keeping an eye on you and UNIT, just to make sure that you're not using the time travel device to change history."
"Yes, of course," replied Caitrin, "Well, goodbye, Doctor, I hope we meet again soon."
"Farewell, Miss Ryan, farewell, Omega," said the Doctor, "Remember, if you ever need me, you know how to contact me."
Caitrin and Omega simply nodded before disappearing from the screen. The Doctor gave the console a gentle pat. "It's good to be home." she remarked.
The Doctor smiled as she walked around the console, pressing various buttons.
The TARDIS spun through the vortex. The First Doctor's TARDIS flew in the opposite direction.
(AN) And that's a wrap on this fan novelisation of Doctor Who: Genesis. I hope you all enjoyed, and remember to Read and Review.
A massive thank you to DaDoctorWhoFan for creating the WIDWWA series and giving me the chance to bring this story to life and expand a tiny bit on what was in the video.
The TARDIS exterior is basically the rl Capaldi one.
I am planning to do more fan novelisations. The next one I want to do is a fan novelisation of Season 27 and work my way up to before Genesis, then go from there, but that will take a while.
Until then, this is TimeLordMaster108 signing out
