And here we are with Chapter 14, the beginning of the Friendship Cup. I've decided to break these Duels down by multiple chapters since it's a Team Duel and I want a chapter focused on each of the Guardians.

Darkknight55: I'm not trying to diminish Reiji's strength; he has amazing combos as is able to create infinite loops. The DDD archetype is an amazing deck, but remember that Leo was able to easily counter Reiji's moves during his Duel in episode 128 of ARC-V. Reiji used everything he had during his turn with a strategic and well thought plan. But Jack Duels using his instincts and sometimes that can overcome strategy and I wanted to show that here.

Calvin9871: Red Demon's Dragon Monarch is a self-made card. Jack has two monsters that can be summoned via Double Tuning. The canon Tyrant and my Monarch which is a more powerful version of the 5D's Scar Red Nova Dragon.

Now on to the chapter.

Chapter 14: Preliminary Round 1! Guardians vs Team Unicorn

Duel Palace – Residential Area

The Guardians were being escorted by two men in white suits. "All participants of the Friendship Cup will be staying here in the Duel Palace. You will have your own area and be free to do whatever you want, but interaction with the other teams is strictly prohibited." One of them spoke.

"Your preliminary rounds will take place on the main track along with Team Unicorn and Team Paris. There is a copy of the rulebook of the Friendship Cup in your suite for future reference." The other one spoke.

"What about Reiji?" Yuya asked.

"He will be in the infirmary along with your other comrades, but rest assured, he will still be treated as a guest in the palace." The first one spoke.

The group reached a door where a small kid wearing a brown uniform. "This is Sam, he will be your escort between here and the stadium. Anything you need, you can ask him. Please excuse us." The two men left the Guardians.

"Please enjoy your suite." Sam unlocked the doors and opened to reveal a giant suite that didn't make anyone feel cramped. "Before midnight, I need the roster of the Duelists that will participate in the first round. But bear in mind that once you pick those members, you cannot select them again for the next round should you win."

"Thank you, Sam." Yuya thanked. "Crow, Aki, can you help me with the roster?"

"Sure thing." Crow answered while Aki nodded.

As Yuya, Crow and Aki were deciding who would be the team to face Team Unicorn, everyone else was doing their own things.

Gongenzaka simply looked at his deck with his arms crossed.

Shun, Ruri, Serena and Dennis looked over each other's decks.

Sawatari was getting advice from Jonouchi for creating better combos.

Rua had fallen asleep so Rin put a blanket over him.

Yuzu, Rio and Asuka decided to do some meditation to help calm their nerves.

"So, if we put him with her." Crow suggested.

"That's good, but do we need it right away?" Aki asked.

"I feel they can work together, but maybe save them for later in the tournament." Yuya said.

"I can feel chemistry with them." Aki pointed.

"But will their styles complement each other?" Crow asked.

"Remember we can't put him in again if he does this match." Yuya reminded.

"Sam, here's our roster for tomorrow." Yuya gave Sam the roster.

"Thank you, good night." Sam walked away. But as he walked, a card fell out of his pocket.

"Hey, Sam!" Yuya called out as he picked up the card. "You dropped this."

"Oh, thanks." Sam looked at the card before getting a troubled expression.

"What's wrong?" Yuya asked.

"That card…was Jack's." Sam answered.

"Jack's?" Yuya asked.

"Ah, so this is the card that started everything." Crow looked at it.

"What are you talking about?" Yuya asked.

"Oh, that's right. You weren't locked up with the others." Crow remembered. "When Jack and I were young, a card from the Tops fell to the Commons and Jack took it. He felt that card represented him, someone starting from the very bottom. He said he had to return it to the Tops, no matter what."

"Jack is a hero to me. When I saw him win the Friendship Cup a year ago, I was so inspired by his actions that I wanted to start Dueling." Sam answered. "But I didn't have any money or cards so I couldn't Duel at all. Even so, I admired Jack and went to one of his movie premieres and I met him."

Tops Area – Six Months Ago

A limousine pulled up to the red carpet and Jack walked out of it and was instantly greeted by the paparazzi. He smiled and waved to the crowd.

"Hey, you!" A guard shoved Sam onto the red carpet.

"Ow!" Sam winced.

"You can't just enter without permission!" The guard shouted.

"What are you doing?" Jack approached the guard.

"K-King!" The guard stuttered.

"I won't forgive anyone who hurts children! Get out of my sight!" Jack ordered and the guard ran away in fear. "Are you okay?" Jack held his hand out.

"Y-Yes." Sam answered as he took Jack's hand.

"I-I've been a fan of yours for so long! Ever since you were the number one Duelist in the slums, I've wanted to become like you! But I don't have any money or cards right now…That's why I'm rooting for you! Please continue to represent us Commons!" Sam said.

Jack held out a card to Sam. "This card was the one that started everything for me. Let it be your start as well."

"And this was the card…Tuning Magician." Yuya looked at it.

"Yes." Sam answered. "But even so, that's still the only card that I have." Sam then pushed the card back to Yuya. "I want you to have it."

"Huh? Why?" Yuya asked.

"I saw your Raid Duel against the Director of Security. You also defeated a Duel Chaser easily. You disrupted the status quo of Neo Domino City just like Jack, so if anyone can figure out a use for this card…it's you." Sam said.

"Sam…" Yuya looked at the card. He then had a vision of the wind coming at him very hard, he was going faster and faster and he saw a couple of silhouettes. Yuya swayed and fell on his knees.

"Yuya!" Aki got worried and knelt down to him.

"Hey, you okay?" Crow asked with concern.

"S-Sorry…" Yuya apologized. "I think I'm just tired. Good night." Yuya turned around. "What was that? The wind…the speed…" He looked at Tuning Magician. "Are you trying to tell me something?"

Duel Palace – Day 1 of Friendship Cup

Fireworks were booming around the Duel Palace as a jet flew above the stadium. "Ladies and gentlemen of Neo Domino City, it's time to begin the biggest tournament of the year!"

"With the largest gathering of Duelists from all over the world…" Melissa jumped from the jet. "The Friendship Cup is about to begin! The City is one! We are friends!" Melissa opened her parachute to show the slogan of the tournament.

Melissa landed on the ground. "Coming to you live from the Duel Palace! The Friendship Cup's first team tournament will now begin! We have multiple battles happening all over the City, but I will be commentating for the Block A Preliminaries here at the Duel Palace!"

"Allow me to introduce the teams that will participate in this First Match! We have the All-Around Team Unicorn who have decided to start this year strong by sending their ace player Andre, along with Captain Jean and Strategist Breo!" The audience cheered for them.

"And the team facing them are dimension travelers, Team Guardians and the members the have selected are…the Steadfast Duelist, Noboru Gongenzaka, the Entertainment Angel, Yuzu Hiiragi and…Pro Duelist of Maiami City, Katsuya Jonouchi!"

"Hey, wasn't that guy with that Yuya Sakaki?"

"I heard he's in league with the Black Rose Witch."

"That Reiji Akaba was also from another dimension."

"Then they have to be weak since he couldn't defeat the King!"

"Crush them, Team Unicorn!"

"Take them out in one turn!"

The audience all cheered for Team Unicorn and booed Team Guardians.

"Oh, come on, at least give us a chance to show our skills." Sawatari moaned.

"I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'd rather be attacked by Academia than deal with this." Rio said.

"So, what's the order, Yuya?" Yuzu asked.

"Going first will be Gongenzaka, then it will be you and finally Uncle Jonouchi." Yuya answered.

"We did our research and Andre has been using a Power Deck to win his Duels." Crow said.

"And Gongenzaka's Defense Deck will be perfect in matching that deck." Aki added.

"I'll use my Steadfast Deck to defeat their Power Deck!" Gongenzaka declared.

"You're D-Wheels are all good to go!" Bruno gave the good to go signal.

Both Gongenzaka and Andre got on their D-Wheels and made their way to the starting line.

On Team Unicorn's side, Breo and Jean started discussing. "Just as we suspected they're putting that Steadfast Duelist first." Breo said.

"Everything is proceeding as planned." Jean smiled. "Andre, make sure to take the first turn." Jean spoke to the radio.

"You got it." Andre answered.

Gongenzaka looked up at the throne room where Jack was watching. "I, the man Gongenzaka, will prove that my Dueling works in the World of Speed!"

"Going first for Team Unicorn is Andre, while going for Team Guardians is Gongenzaka! Let's get this started! Field Magic: Dimension Highway, activate!"

"Duel Mode: On!" Gongenzaka's and Andre's D-Wheels activated and the timer appeared in front of them. The clock counted down before reaching 0.

"Riding Duel! Acceleration!" Melissa shouted as both Gongenzaka and Andre zoomed off.

"Duel!" Gongenzaka and Andre declared.

Gongenzaka LP: 4000, Hand: 5, SC: 0

Both Gongenzaka and Andre were neck and neck but Andre smiled when he saw Gongenzaka shaking a bit. "Let me show the difference between a pro rider and an amateur!" Andre sped up.

"Hey, you're going too fast!" Gongenzaka shouted as they were approaching the corner. If Andre turned at that speed, he could crash. However, Andre was still able to make a smooth turn without decreasing his speed. "Amazing…"

"Now, show me the power of your dimension." Andre said.

"I, the man Gongenzaka, will lead my team to victory!" Gongenzaka shouted.

"Andre has cleared the first corner, so he goes first!" Melissa commentated as the audience cheered.

"Beat that guy up, Andre!"

"Show no mercy!"

"My turn! Draw!" Andre drew his card. "I summon the Tuner Monster, Unicorn's Familiar (DEF: 1000, LV: 2) in Defense Position!" A beast with the horn of a unicorn appeared.

"Next, by banishing a Magic Card in my hand, I can Special Summon Monoceros (DEF: 1000, LV: 3) in Defense Position!" Andre summoned a dinosaur like beats with a unicorn horn.

"A Synchro Summon." Gongenzaka prepared himself.

"I set two cards and end my turn!" Andre finished.

"What?" Gongenzaka was surprised.

"Why didn't he Synchro Summon?" Sawatari asked.

"Maybe he wants to fortify his defense?" Rua guessed.

"Hm…" Yuya started typing on the computer and looked at Andre's cards. "But that doesn't make sense. If Monoceros was used as a Synchro Summon with a Tuner Monster that is a Beast-type, he could Special Summon the Tuner Monster after performing the Synchro Summon."

"So, he would still have two monsters either way." Rin realized

"Or he would've performed another Synchro Summon for a Level 7 Synchro Monster." Aki added.

"I have a bad feeling." Ruri said.

"My Steadfast Soul will not waiver to your tricks!" Gongenzaka declared. "My turn! Draw!" Gongenzaka drew his card.

"Using the Scale 1 Superheavy General Hisu-E and the Scale 8 Superheavy General San-5, I set the Pendulum Scale!" Gongenzaka set his Pendulum Scale and his two generals appeared.

"With this, I can simultaneously summon monsters from Levels 2 to 7! Pendulum Summon! Tuner Monster, Superheavy Samurai Kobu-C (ATK: 900, LV: 2)! Superheavy Samurai Kagebo-C (ATK: 500, LV: 3)! And Superheavy Samurai Sword-999 (ATK: 1000, LV: 3)!" Gongenzaka summoned three monsters.

"So, you can Pendulum Summon." Andre looked back.

"I activate Superheavy General Hisui-E's Pendulum Effect! Once per turn, it can increase the Level of a Superheavy Samurai monster on my field by one! I increase Superheavy Samurai Kobu-C's Level to 3!"

Superheavy Samurai Kobu-C (LV: 2→3)

"I'm Tuning my Level 3 Sword-999 and Kagebo-C with my Level 3 Kobu-C!" Kobu-C turned into three green rings and Sword-999 and Kagebo-C flew through them and became six stars.

"Unmovable like a mountain range! Spirit dwelling within the boulders! Become a towering fortress now! Synchro Summon! Appear! Level 9! Superheavy Demon Beast Kyu-B (DEF: 2500, LV: 9)!" Gongenzaka summoned his machine kitsune.

"Looks like Gongenzaka is about to begin his assault on Andre!" Melissa commented.

"Superheavy Demon Beast Kyu-B gains 900 Defense Points for every Special Summoned monster on the opponent's field! With two, it gains 1800 Defense Points!" Gongenzaka said.

Kyu-B (DEF: 2500→4300)

"4300 Defense Points…" Andre looked at the monster.

"Next, from my hand, I equip Superheavy Samurai Soul Iwatooshi to Kyu-B! With this, if Kyu-B attacks a Defense Position monster and it deals piercing damage! Battle! Kyu-B, attack Unicorn's Familiar! Kyu-B can attack while in Defense Position using its Defense Points for damage calculation!"

"He fell for it." Jean smiled.

"I activate Unicorn's Familiar's effect!" Andre said. "When Uni-Horned Familiar is attacked while in Defense Position…I can banish a monster on my field to banish Unicorn Familiar!" Both monsters disappeared.

"What?" Gongenzaka's eyes widened.

"He banished his own monsters?!" Dennis shouted.

"With both my monsters gone, Kyu-B's Defense Points go down!" Andre said as Kyu-B lost power.

Kyu-B (DEF: 4300→2500)

"But lowering your monster's Defense Points was not my goal! I activate my Trap Card: Different Dimension Barrier – Lost Force! When a monster on my field leaves the field outside of battle, your monster's attack is negated and you take damage equal to the Attack Points of the monster that battled!" Andre revealed.

"What?!" Gongenzaka gasped.

"You take your monster's Attack Points, 1900, as damage!" Andre pointed at Gongenzaka as Kyu-B hit the barrier and its attack bounced off it and hit Gongenzaka making him lose balance.

Gongenzaka LP: 4000→2100

"I…end my turn." Gongenzaka reluctantly ended his turn.

"It went just as you planned Jean." Breo smiled.

"Even though he uses Defense Points, he remains ignorant of the Attack Points that his own monster possesses." Jean said.

"It's underhanded, but…I have to make him doubt himself." Andre thought. "You do realize that this is a team tournament!" Andre looked back at Gongenzaka.

"I am aware!" Gongenzaka answered. "That's why I have my friends with me!"

"Friendship does not equal teamwork!" Andre pointed out. "We, of Team Unicorn have polished our skills to go against any type of opponent we encounter! We work to not only enhance our strengths but to also let go of our pride and beliefs for the sake of victory!"

"My turn! Draw!" Andre drew his card.

Andre LP: 4000, Hand: 2, SC: 1→2
Gongenzaka LP: 2100, Hand: 0, SC: 1→2

"Unicorn's Familiar returns to the field via its effect! Return, Unicorn's Familiar (DEF: 1000, LV: 2)!" Andre then showed a card in his hand. "Different Dimension Unicorn Knight cannot be Normal Summoned, but I can Special Summon it by resurrecting Monoceros that was banished! Revive Monoceros (DEF: 1000, LV: 3)!"

"Appear! Unicorn Knight (ATK: 1800, LV: 4)!" Andre brought out a knight that was dressed as a unicorn.

"I'm Tuning my Level 3 Monoceros with my Level 2 Unicorn's Familiar!" Unicorn's Familiar turned into two green rings and Monoceros flew through them and became three stars.

"Soaring thunder, merge with the ferocious wind to emerge from the world of illusions! Synchro Summon! Neigh, Thunder Unicorn (ATK: 2200, LV: 5)! A blue unicorn with yellow mane appeared.

"That monster is no match for Kyu-B's Defense Points, which increased thanks to your Special Summons!" Gongenzaka pointed out.

Kyu-B (DEF: 2500→4300)

"I activate Monoceros's effect from the Graveyard! When Monoceros and a Beast-type Tuner Monster are used to Synchro Summon, the Tuner Monster resurrects! Resurrect, Unicorn's Familiar (DEF: 1000, LV: 2)!" Andre continued his move.

"I'm Tuning my Level 4 Unicorn Knight with my Level 2 Unicorn's Familiar!" Unicorn's Familiar became two green rings and Unicorn Knight flew through them and became four stars.

"Warrior that tames the beasts of thunder, appear now and ride them into battle! Synchro Summon! Come forth! Level 6! Thunder Rider (ATK: 2500, LV: 6)!" A warrior dressed in lightning armor appeared.

"I activate Thunder Rider's effect! It can equip a Beast-type Synchro Monster as a Equip Card and increase its Attack Points by 1000 Points!" Andre revealed.

Thunder Rider (ATK: 2500→3500)

"With this, I have one Special Summoned monster on my field, so your Kyu-B's Defense Points go down!" Andre smiled.

Kyu-B (DEF: 4300→3400)

"Battle! Thunder Rider, attack Kyu-B! Thunder Charge!" Thunder Unicorn charged while Thunder Rider produced a lance that pierced through Kyu-B, destroying it.

"But since it was in Defense Position, I don't take damage." Gongenzaka said.

"That's what you think? When Thunder Rider destroys a monster in battle! The opponent takes damage equal to the destroyed monster's Attack Points!" Andre shouted.

"What?!" Gongenzaka gasped as he was stuck by thunder.

Gongenzaka LP: 2100→200

"For my Kyu-B to be destroyed so easily." Gongenzaka grumbled.

"Andre is proving why he is Team Unicorn's ace! He managed to defeat the wall that is Kyu-B and has pushed Gongenzaka towards the edge of defeat!" Melissa commentated.

"Alright!"

"Keep kicking his ass, Andre!"

"Go back to your pathetic dimension!"

The crowd continued to beat down the Dimension Guardians.

"That Andre is something else." Breo said. "He's using a complicated deck, yet he hasn't made a single mistake."

"Andre is a diamond in the rough. A genius that comes once every decade. No matter what deck he uses, he brings out its maximum potential." Jean smiled.

"Scary." Breo shivered. "I'm glad he's on our side."

"Argh! This is so frustrating!" Sawatari complained.

"Come on, Gon-chan! You can do better than this!" Dennis shouted.

"But he has no cards in his hand." Serena said.

"Yuya." Yuzu looked Yuya with concern.

Yuya sighed before turning to Yuzu. "Get yourself ready."

"Right." Yuzu nodded and went to her D-Wheel which was a streamlined version that was colored pink.

"I set one card and end my turn." Andre finished his turn.

"Curse you and your tricks! You should face me honorably with your real Deck instead of using different ones!" Gongenzaka shouted in anger. "Unforgivable!"

"Everything I do is for the sake of the team." Andre looked back. "What about you? Have you done anything to help your team?"

"Of course, I…" Gongenzaka caught himself when he realized the truth. He never helped any of his comrades. In the Battle Royal, it was Dennis that helped him defeat his Obelisk Force member, he was the first of the boys to be defeated by Ushio and didn't contribute much in that Duel. Even in his Tag Duel, he refused assistance from Sawatari because using Magic and Trap cards was against his Steadfast Dueling.

"Your beliefs have caused your friends to doubt you!" Andre pointed at the pits. Gongenzaka looked and he saw Yuzu preparing herself to enter the Duel. "Your Steadfast Dueling is worthless in the World of Speed!"

"You're wrong…" Gongenzaka uttered. "My Steadfast Dueling…the Dueling that I believe in…the deck that I built and trained with my whole life…it's not worthless! My turn! Draw!" Gongenzaka drew his card angrily, creating a massive shockwave.

"Me and my cards won't lose! With the set Pendulum Scale…Pendulum Summon! Come forth! Superheavy General Ki-7 (DEF: 2300, LV: 7, PS: 3)!" Appearing was a Superheavy General dressed in yellow armor with a staff.

"When Ki-7 is the only monster Pendulum Summoned, it Special Summons a Tuner and non-Tuner Superheavy Samurai from the Graveyard! Revive, Superheavy Samurai Kobu-C (ATK: 900, LV: 2)! Superheavy Samurai Kagebo-C (ATK: 500, LV: 3)!" Gongenzaka brought back both his monsters.

"I'm Tuning my Level 7 Superheavy General Ki-7 and Level 3 Superheavy Samurai Kagebo-C with my Level 2 Superheavy Samurai Kobu-C!" Kobu-C turned into two green rings and both the general and samurai flew through them and became ten stars.

"Steadfast oni gods, grasp tightly on my fist's resolve, now, become the fiend of iron and run across the battlefield! Synchro Summon! Now come before us! Appear! Level 12! Superheavy Samurai Steam Oni Tetsudo-O (DEF: 4800, LV: 12)!" Gongenzaka summoned his strongest monster.

"Oh, wow! A Level 12! That's the highest Level a Synchro Monster can get!" Melissa was in awe.

"You managed to summon that from one card." Andre looked back.

"My Steadfast Dueling has always brought me the card that I need to turn the tables and I'll show that now! Battle! Tetsudo-O, attack Thunder Rider!" Tetsudo-O headed for Thunder Rider.

"I activate the Trap Card: Drain Shield! This card negates your attack and I gain Life Points equal to the attacking monster's ATK!" Andre played his card.

"Such tricks won't work anymore!" Gongenzaka shouted. "When Superheavy General Ki-7 is used as Synchro Material, any activation of a Magic or Trap card during the Battle Phase is negated and destroyed! Tetsudo-O! Charge!" Tetsudo-O crashed right through the shield and struck Thunder Rider and Thunder Unicorn and Thunder Unicorn disappeared.

Andre LP: 4000→2700

"What?!" Gongenzaka saw Thunder Rider was still on the field.

"By sending the equipped monster to the Graveyard, I can negate Thunder Rider's destruction!" Andre winced.

"Well, I'll be." Breo looked impressed.

"He broke through the Trap with sheer power. It seems we've underestimated this Gongenzaka." Jean admitted.

"Alright, Gongenzaka damaged him!" Sawatari cheered. "Now he can continue the momentum!"

"We were too naïve." Yuya said.

"What do you mean, Yuya?" Rin asked.

"We thought Andre would use a Power Deck since he used it to win all of his previous tournaments. To counter his power, I decided to have Gongenzaka push it back with his Steadfast Deck, but…"

"This deck is the opposite of a Power Deck." Bruno finished. "It's a deck that stops attacks and turns their power against the owner."

"Even though Gongenzaka's monsters have more Defense Points than Attack Points, his Synchro Monsters are of high Level and come with high Attack Points, so even though Gongenzaka is using Defense Points for damage calculation, Team Unicorn uses Effect Damage based on Gongenzaka's monsters' Attack Points." Yuya nodded.

"They really have done their homework on us." Jonouchi looked at Team Unicorn's pit.

"That was impressive, Gongenzaka. I didn't think you could make a counterattack with just one draw." Andre smiled. "But even so, your Steadfast Dueling won't win the Friendship Cup!"

"Shut up! I don't need you to lecture me about my Dueling!" Gongenzaka shouted in anger.

"Then I guess I'll have to crush your spirit!" Andre smiled.

"What?!" Gongenzaka's eyes widened.

"Hurry up and end your turn! There's nothing more you can do, right?"" Andre ordered.

"He's right…Superheavy General San-5's Pendulum Effect can only allow a Superheavy Samurai monster to attack twice if they destroyed a monster in battle." Gongenzaka thought. "I end my turn!"

"My turn! Draw!" Andre drew his card.

"I drew a good card! I activate the Speed Spell: Speed Storm! When I have three or more Speed Counters, this card inflicts my opponent with 1000 points of damage!" Andre revealed.

"What?! Just like that?!" Gongenzaka exclaimed.

"Oh man, this is bad!" Rua panicked.

"It's okay. Even if Gongenzaka is out, his cards will transfer to Yuzu, she'll have Tetsudo-O and Gongenzaka's Pendulum Scales." Ruri said.

"Next, I activate my Trap Card: Thunder Rampage!" Andre revealed his other set card. "When I have Thunder Rider on the field and Thunder Unicorn in my Graveyard, this card destroys all cards on the opponent's field!"

Andre started to ride backwards as he faced Gongenzaka. "You lose, Noboru Gongenzaka!" Andre smiled as his Trap Card unleashed lightning that destroyed Gongenzaka's monsters and the Speed Spell went to the horn of Andre's D-Wheel and unleashed a strong hurricane that hit Gongenzaka.

Gongenzaka LP: 200→0

"And Andre has taken the first victory for Team Unicorn!" Melissa cheered. "Gongenzaka put up a great fight, but it just wasn't enough to defeat the ace!"

"What a loser!"

"You may be a big shot where you came from, but you're nothing here!"

"You couldn't even save a card for your teammate!"

"Worthless! Worthless! Worthless!" The audience chanted at Gongenzaka who had his head lowered.

"How horrible." Asuka couldn't believe how cold the people of the Synchro Dimension were.

"That's how it is." Crow said.

"All that matters is winning." Aki lowered her head in sadness.

Yuzu took a deep breath, but her nerves were getting the better of her. "Hey, you're gonna do fine." Yuzu looked at Yuya. "Just Duel the way you always do."

"Duel the way I always do…" Yuzu repeated. She closed her eyes before getting a serious expression. "I…will Duel not as a Lancer…but as a Guardian and a student of You Show Duel School! I'll show the Synchro Dimension that we're not worthless!" This made Yuya smile.

Gongenzaka pulled up to the pits. "Everyone…I…"

"Save the I'm sorry for later!" Shun ripped the Guardians tag of Gongenzaka's arm. He then placed it on Yuzu's.

"I'll definitely win! For us!" Yuzu sped off with determination.

"Go, Yuzu!" Ruri cheered.

"You got this, girl!" Rin shouted.

"Beat that bastard!" Serena ordered.

"You got this, Yuzu." Yuya thought. He then saw Gongenzaka heading for the tunnel with his head down.

"Don't you want to go after him? He is your best friend." Jonouchi asked.

"If I go to him now, it would only damage his pride." Yuya answered.

In the tunnel, Gongenzaka kept hearing Andre's words in his head.

"You do realize this is a team tournament!"

"Friendship does not equal teamwork!"

"Everything I do is for the sake of the team. What about you? Have you done anything to help your team?"

"Your beliefs have caused your friends to doubt you!"

"Your Steadfast Dueling is worthless in the World of Speed!"

Gongenzaka punched the wall in frustration, leaving a massive dent in the wall. Gongenzaka remained emotionless, even as a few tears fell down his face an on the floor.

"Now, continuing the Duel for Team Guardians is Yuzu Hiiragi! As for the rules of the Friendship Cup, Andre's turn automatically comes to an end!" Melissa announced.

As Yuzu caught up to Andre, she was deep in thought. "I have to do more than win; I have to make sure that I can leave something behind that can benefit my teammate in case I do lose." Yuzu drew her five cards.

"Ever since I found out we would be travelling dimensions; I've been thinking if my Dueling would be enough to win." Yuzu closed her eyes. "The loss against that officer, Mikage, proved that it wasn't. I have to keep growing, I have to keep getting stronger." Yuzu's bracelet glowed and the top card of her deck glowed as well.

She put her fingers on her deck. "Please, hear my cry! Grant me the power that defeated the Rare Hunter back in Maiami! The power to help my precious comrades!"

Yuzu opened her eyes. "It's time to begin the concert! My turn! Draw!" Yuzu drew her card. She was ready to go all out. "I activate the Magic Card: Ritual Flower!"
