A little while later, Vee and Poppy were up in the vampire's room doing their homework.
"Hey Vee, there's something I've been meaning to ask you," said Poppy who was on the floor next to Vee's bed where the young vampire was sitting on to do her own work.
"What is it?" asked Vee.
"How come you have been aging along with Bridget and the rest of us?" asked Poppy as she looked up at him.
"I mean you were two-hundred when we met but passed for an eight-year-old physically, but now you look like you're the same age as us, so it doesn't really add up," she said.
"Oh, that's a simple question to answer," said Vee.
"Do you remember when mama asked for a lock of your hair?" she asked.
"Yeah, she told me it was for a spell that she was doing for you, but she wouldn't tell me what the spell was," said Poppy.
"That spell was on this necklace," said Vee as she pulled a heart shaped necklace out from under her shirt and leaned over the side of the bed to show it to the human girl.
"It uses hair from one person in order to tie the wearer's life span to the owner of the hair used in the spell," she said.
"But that would take away your immortality," said a shocked Poppy.
"As long as I take it off, I'll age back to my normal physical age within a few days, but you are right about it taking away my immortality as he can die of anything really as long as I still have it on," said Vee.
"But that's a risk I'm willing to take if it means staying with you… and the others," she said, blushing as she hurriedly tacked on the last few words.
"Vee," said Poppy as she looked up at her vampire friend. Suddenly, Vee slipped off her bed, falling on top of Poppy down on the floor.
"Whoa," said the two as they stared right into each other's eyes.
"S… sorry, Poppy," said Vee as she hurried to get off her friend.
"I need to go," said Poppy while grabbing her stuff before heading out of the room.
"Poppy, wait!" said Vee as she rushed after her.
