The following morning, Vee and Bridget had arrived at school together and were a little concerned about the third girl who was missing.
"Poppy never mentioned having to get to school early today," said Vee.
"I'm sure everything is alright, Vee, she probably just forgot to tell us," said Bridget.
"Look, there she is now," she said once she spotted the other girl at her locker.
"Poppy," said Vee, which made her friend jump a little.
"V… Vee, Bridget," said Poppy who looked at the two with a nervous expression while shutting her locker door.
"Is something wrong?" asked Bridget as she picked up on her friend's nervousness.
"I… I'm sorry, I have to go," said Poppy before turning and hurriedly walking away.
"Ok, maybe something is wrong," said a stunned Bridget, not knowing how much that one sentence would cause her Vampire friend's heart to sink.
"Why would she want to avoid me?" thought Vee who looked at the Poppy's back with hurt written all over her face.
"Did something happen between the two of you?" asked Bridget while looking over at her vampire friend and seeing how hurt she looked.
"I'll tell you later," said Vee as the bell went off so she ran to get to class. Later that day at the Peopleson's residence.
"You were avoiding Vee all day," said Edgar while walking into his sister's room.
"It's nothing," said Poppy who was sitting at her desk.
"Something made your crush hit you at full force, didn't it?" asked Edgar with a smug grin while sitting down on her bed but never once taking his eyes off of her.
"Alright fine," said Poppy while turning to face her brother.
"Vee fell on top of me yesterday on accident and our faces were so close I panicked, and I still am when I see her," she said.
"Well, you can't keep avoiding her," said Edgar.
"I know, now shut it before mom hears," said Poppy.
"Too late," said Edna as she stepped around the corner of the door and into the room.
"And I think the two of us need to talk," she said while looking at her daughter.
"I swear I didn't know she was there," said Edgar before rushing out of the room.
