Monster

"This one?" Daisy asked, scanning the body. "But he's been dead soooo long! There's barely even bones left in there! And what's that thing in his head?"

"A neural implant," Hunter said. "It kept a back-up of his memories, and only stopped storing them when he died."

"But it's broken!" Daisy said, shining Light onto the body, despite her complaints.

"It's linked to the Blademasters' HQ main computer," Hunter said, just as Daisy's Light faded, Hunter forming his Reverie Dawn Casque. "You're all going to want to back up. A lot."

Everyone complied, including Daisy, just before the body exploded off of the ground, roaring in rage as he lunged at Hunter. Hunter used his Void dodge to evade the tackle, then kicked him in the side of the ribs. He bounced across the ground before flipping and slamming his feet into the ground, stopping on a dime. Then, he charged, racing across the ground with another roar of rage, throwing a haymaker at Hunter. Hunter knocked it outward and slammed a punch of his own into the side of the new Guardian's helmet, knocking him to the side. However, as soon as he did, the new Guardian push kicked him, hurling him away. Hunter crashed to the ground, then rolled aside, avoiding a falling punch, which fractured the ground and embedded itself in it. Hunter grabbed the back of the Guardian's head, smashing it into the ground before throwing him off. Both leapt to their feet and Hunter slammed a roundhouse kick into the Guardian's head, only for him to slam into Hunter in a bullrush, lifting him before slamming him to the ground. A punch shattered Hunter's helmet, another shattered the left side of his head. The third, however, slammed into the ground before a massive fist, the size of an Ogre's hand, made entirely from SIVA errupted from his chest, slamming into the new Guardian and hurling him. Hunter's head regenerated, and he flipped backward back to his feet just as the new Guardian fell from above, shattering the ground. Hunter launched himself forward using SIVA Tentacles for added jumping force, then slammed both feet into the Guardian's helmet, hurling him again.

The new Guardian flipped in the air, landing on his feet, only to stop as Hive Thralls, Acolytes, and Knights swarmed into the chamber, one of the Knights firing several Boomer shots, only for them to explode between the combatants and do nothing besides get their attention. Hunter glanced at the new Guardian and weighed thepros and cons of hoping he wouldn't attack him again, then picked up a double-barreled, break-loaded shotgun off the ground, one with a wood pistolgrip and under the barrels and ivy etched into the back end of the barrels, and tossed it to the new Guardian, along with a SIVA-created belt of shells and a white ammo crate.

"Crush it to refill your ammo," Hunter said, drawing his left knife and the Ace of Spades. "I'll explain what's going on after we survive, if you don't kill me."

The Guardian nodded, and Hunter charged alongside him. Then, as they reached the Hive, Hunter grinned, seeing his old master ripping the Hive apart with his bare hands as much as killing them with the shotgun, the ammo cube tucked safely under his ammo belt. He blasted a Thrall in the head, smashed another's with the barrel, kicked a Thrall into a group of Acolytes and blasted them all. He slipped the shotgun into the ammo belt and grabbed a Thrall, ripping its arm off and using it to kill it with a blow to the head. He drove his fingers into the top of an Acolyte's head and ripped it in half the long way. He blasted a Knight in the abdomen, making it double over before knocking it to the ground and stomping on its head, crushing it.

Hunter drove a knife into a Knight's face, killing it, then ripoed it out and hurled it into an Acolyte, shooting a trio of Thralls. He glanced at the new Guardian as a semicircle of Thralls charged him. SIVA swarmed to Hunter's hand, forming the same hilt that had been shattered alongside the Guardian's body, then hurled it to him. The Guardian caught it and pressed a switch on the underside of the guard's back arm, a wide, double-edged blade of orangish-red Solar Energy blazing to life instantly. At the end, the sword was rounded, rather than having a point, and there were a pair of spikes extending from the front and back edge at the end. Then, as the Thralls reached him, his arm made an almost lazy sweep from his right to over his left shoulder. All of the Thralls separated somewhere between their waist and shoulders, both halves of all of them igniting on contact with the blade, engulfing the new Guardian in flames. The Guardian caught the Thrall in front of him by the face, allowing both halves of all of the others, including the legs of the one he'd caught, to smack into him uselessly, not even making him budge an inch. He crushed the Thrall's head in his hand and allowed the body to drop back onto its legs. His next step forward crushed both upper and lower body. Then, he emerged frkm the flames unscathed, his armor not even blackened or covered by ash, except for his right boot. The other Hive all charged, and Hunter and the new Guardian met their charge, Hunter now wielding Woldline Zero and his melee knife. Both rapidly shredded their way through the Hive, and after a few minutes, Hunter broke free of the swarm of Hive and turned back to it in time to see the entire Hive swarm stop as a Knight slashed the new Guardian. Except, instead of cutting into him, the Guardian caught the sword by the blade, the armor on his hand not bearing a single mark. The Hive stared at the Guardian for a moment before fleeing, shrieks of fear echoing through the tunnels.

"I've never seen them afraid of a Guardian before," Ana said.

"It's because he's more of a monster than any other," Hunter said.

"Now that it's safe, let's get out of here," Ana said.

"It's not safe," Hunter said. "Not yet."

Just then, a dozen of the massive serpentine creatures from before burst from the ground, several of them simply leaping out of it into an arch and burrowing back into the ground somewhere else.

"Fuck!" Ana swore.

Hunter's hand flashed, a Sunbreak sword appearing in his hand as he charged at one of the creatures, the New Guardian charging at another, and Ana and Elsie each targetting another. Just shy of the creature he'd chosen, Hunter slashed, the arc of Solar energy splitting it across the body before he hurled a SIVA grenade with his free hand, the grenade exploding against its severed end and sending drones into both. He spun as he did, hurling the Sunbreak sword into the air as a blurred, spinning disk and used his Void intangibilitiy dodge to avoid a creature as it erupted from the ground, roaring. A moment later, the falling sword spun into its mouth, and explosion ripping its way back out a second later. Hunter glanced at his old master just as Solar energy shone from his fist. Then, he slammed a punch into it and the impact point exploded. He spun, bullrushing another and his shoulder shone before he rammed into it, actually blasting straight through.

"How is he so powerful!?" Ana shouted over the roars, gunfire, and explosions.

"He can do anything I can do, just better!" Hunter shouted, hurling a dozen Solar Knives into the air behind me, each higher than the next starting from his left.

A moment later, as a creature burst from the ground in a jump, the knives slammed down on the top of its head one after another, each hitting the dame spot until the last finally punched straight through and exploded inside, killing it. He spun, forming and hurling an Arc Spear, sending it drilling into a creature's head as it was shrieking in pain from one of Ana's dogs shooting it in the eye, and the spear exploded, killing it. A moment later, the new Guardian exploded down on top of a creature's head, smashing it into the ground, only for him to break off one of its tusks and drive it back into the creature's eye, into its brain. Hunter and Elsie both turned on the last one, Hunter grabbing his Rocket Launcher as Elsie formed on from her SIVA. Both fired just as the creature broke free of the ground, and the rockets exploded in its mouth, splattering its head and allowing it to crash down harmlessly.

"Now it's over," Hunter said, turning to his former master. "If you come with us, we can show you both who you are, and what happened before you died."

The new Guardian growled, stepping forward, only for Daisy to fly down in front of his face.

"Hey!" she snapped. "Leave my friends alone! I revived you by giving you the Light, and I can take it away just as easily!"

Hunter smirked at her lie. While a Ghost could take a Guardian's Light back, it was far from easy. "Allow me to introduce Daisy. She's your new partner. She brought you back from the dead, and she's powering those fancy abilities you used."

The Guardian stared at her for a moment before nodding, deactivating his sword. Hunter nodded and turned, looking around, finding a tunnel with water trickling out of it.

"This way," he said, starting up the tunnel, everyone else following, all of them struggling not to slip.
