CHAPTER 2
Don't move kid…
Mei ran over to the burned Anklets. Then proceeded to pick them up and then pick up a wet rag; cleaning all the grime off the damaged anklets in disappointment. She then proceeded to unscrew sevral panels; going back and forth replacing parts, then installing cooling devices to make sure it wouldn't overheat again. Within 15 minutes the babies looked better than before they burst into flames.
"And Mei it seems like your forgot; you're going around to the hero classes durring free period to demonstrate your improvements; your meeting with Izuku in 10 minutes to talk about how support items go in hand with analysis skills, so the heroes can see their own flaws to be able to ask things from you support course kids."
"Allready?! No one told me!" Mei complained
"Welp your gonna have to suck it up and go with him." Power loader said, not looking up from his sottering iron.
Mei gave an annoyed look to him before walking out the door, towards class 1A.
"Mei!" Izuku said giving a friendly wave to Mei with a nice smile. "Are you ready for the presentations?"
"Sure, why not I guess?" She said with a shrug
"Whats wrong? Your missing your usual Hatsume energy…" Izuku said
"Well sorry bout this id just rather be out working on my babieeesss your dumb anklets had to put themselves in flames while I was fixing Nezu's car." She whined.
"Oh… well thank you so much for making them! I'm sure you'll get a lot of time to work on it afterwards!" Izuku said; feeling bad there project would take time out of her busy schedule.
The both of them walked towards the hero classes. Mei enjoyed helping the hero students and all but with how raggedy she dressed compared to the high dress standards for other students outside of the support course. She brushed off the thought; remembering how she would be able to probably convince many more students to come over to the studio. Designing made her blood rush, a kind of natural high that came from nothing else. She smiled to herself imagining the moment all the hero students come in the studio doors with a hundred new challenges and requests. A few steps closer to making support tech for the pro's agencies.
"1A get back into you seats the presentation is now starting" Eraser head ordered "Mei, Midoriya go ahead." He said stepping back.
Izuku started talking about his dumb notes going on and on about analysis and weird hero things Mei couldn't understand. Its not like Mei was stupid or anything the girl was absolutely brilliant! But all the nerdy hero stuff just wasn't what Mei expected. She understood all the looking into things and deeply seeing problems, but it didn't take a whole presentation for her; it just came naturaly. Midoriya could have probably done it by himself…
"Hey broccoli boy I'll be right back; keep talking." Mei said then walking out the door; back down to the support room.
"Mei, I thought you were supposed to be at your presentation" Power loader said
"I certainly am so I thought I'd grab a few of my precious babies to show those hero students" Mei said re-gaining her manic energy and excitement; as the engineering high kicked right back in.
Power loader sighed then said, "did you leave Izuku to do the presentation by himself?"
"Maybeee but soon my babies will be taking over the whole show! Imagine all those cool quirks coming in with 1000 new problems and we could all make 1000 more babies!" She said giggling
Power loader stopped for a moment being caught off guard by the phrase "make 1000 more babies" but brushed it off and gave a gentle smile; thinking of all his other students who would come in nervous and unsteady with the overwhelming amount of machines and tools. But on the very first day Hatsume immediately walked in with a sketch book of ideas then found what she needed, and with no hesitation started building; as she went telling him all about the things she had and how exited she was. And to his suprized the "baby" exploded but the girl said with a smile "work in progress!" then continued to clean it up and work on it. After about 10 minutes she had two hydraulic dodge poles that worked flawlessly at the sports festival… to think it only took her a sketch and about 30 minutes.
"I'm heading outtt agaiiinnn" Mei sang walking out the door fully decked out in machines all over her body with plenty more in a box that looked like a smart mini fridge on her back.
"HELLO CLASS 1A" Mei said barging in the door "I'D LOVE TO INTODUCE YOU TO BABY 145 THESE PHANOMINAL IMPACT CONTROL AND FRACTURE RISK ANCLETS FOR YOUR VERY OWN IZUKU MIDORYA." She said holding the shiny new anklets out to the class; as they all sat in awe. "Go ahead Izuku!" she said putting them out to him.
Izuku cowardly put on the Anklets praying that he didn't explode or break something….
"Look! Baby 145 will help prevent leg fractures, hard landings, risk of concussion, but maximize, damage to villains, protection and speed! Having support items give hero's massive advantaged and removes many disadvantages!" Mei said with a massive smile; holding her hand out towards her baby.
The whole class sat in awe that such simple looking anklets could do so much; while they looked like just simple costume decor. The students went back and forth between staring at each new baby she brought up and asking questions. Mei went through the rest of the hero classes with many of them putting in slips to head into the studio for improvements.
Mei walked back to the studio with a huge grin on her face; beyond happy with a little skip to her step "MR. POWER LOADER IT WAS AMAZINGGGGG" she yelled coming in the door.
"I'm glad, Hatsume" Power loader said looking up from a little robot. "It's been a big day; don't you think you should head back to the dorms though? I don't wanna be rude, but you've got some serious eye bags going on…. Actualy for that matter untill you get some decent rest; I don't want you coming back into the studio."
Mei dropped to the floor with his arms around his legs and begged "pleeaseee I'm gonna be fine! My babies need mee"
"Hatsume listen, I understand how much you want to stay in the design studio but I realy need you to get some rest; I promise once you come back tomorrow all the ideas in your head will be surging and the end of the day your energy wont dip as much… I'm doing this for your own good…" He said getting out of the girls grip; then sitting down on the floor in front of her as she continue to lay on her stomach and listen.
She looked very upset; but thought on it for a moment and decided, the hero students would probably need some time to think of exactly what they wanted and Hatsume might realy need a day off for herself. She told Power Loader that she planned to take a day off of school to take care of herself, rest and he next day give it her all and make even better designs.
"If that's what you wanna do then be my guest; if you get sick of it… as long as you've gotten some sleep then come on back" Power loader said; now standing back up, continuing to work on his robot
"I'm absolutely sure!" She said with excitement.
Mei made her may back to the dorms; walked in the common room untying the jacket around her waist and plopping down on the couch.
"Wow your not spending the night at the studio again? I guess theres a first for evreything" Shinso said; sitting on the counter with a coffee, and his cat sitting on his lap.
"POWER LOADER KICKED ME OUT UNTILL I GOT SLEEP" Hatsume spouted off
"If my teacher forced me to literally sleep, I might just thank him." Shinso said looking intently back into his coffee.
"WELL NOT ALL OF US ARE INSOMIACS, NOW ARE WE HITOSHI?" She continued to yell.
Shinso gave a short laugh to her comment then said walking over and sitting on the couch, with the cat following him closely; expecting another treat. "I know that, but you seriously need some time to yourself; I realy get how all this support course stuff isnt allways work to you but rather your passion… even at that you need to take care of yourself. I mean look at the hero students of all pepole, there more motivated than half of us but they still take breaks… they have whole peoples lives on the line, but they know if they don't care about themselves then it will all eventually crumble."
Hatsume thought about how Izuku blabbered on today about his motivation, and why the hard work was so important to him… the phrase "its like how we depend on cars to take up places, it works great and can sure do a whole lot, it still needs breaks to get gas, fix damage, and cool the engine; and your just like that! No one can work on something forever!" repeated in her head. "Maybe your right, cat boy…" she said
"When are you gonna stop calling me that; you realize my personality isnt just cats right- "
"NEVER" she giggled then ran back to her dorm
Hatsume looked around her room to basic white wall paper, a Power Loader action figure with a bunch of other beginner babies and a few design awards. Then a crooked unmade bed with tossed on sheets with random grease stains all over the sheets. The room was plain and all, but it was most defenetly hers. When she jumped onto the bed it felt like a smooth cotton candy cloud. She got back up when she noticed a bundle of little tubes with little painted on snowflakes in a box. She picked them to see TENYA IDA COOLERS written on the side.
Hatsume gasped and said "Baby ingeniums coolers!" and smiled.
She shuffled through the box to see metal tubes that looked like they belonged over the calf's with a bunch of holes where the cooler tubes would go. She was about to put them together when she stopped; thinking about how Power Loader wanted her to rest…
"What do I like?" She thought to herself
Mei had a lightbulb then went back downstairs and went to find her coat again then ran out the door. A few of the other students who returned from class looked at eachother in confusion, to both see Mei at the dorms but also running out so fast. Mei zoomed into the front patio; got on her bike and continued to ride at full force.
Her bike came to a sudden halt against her own will; that would have flung her over the handlebars if not for her modifications. "Your one of those UA brats arent you?" A dark dressed man with large purple scars and spiky black hair said pinning her shoulder to the wall. "My friend here's got a telekinetic power and I don't recommend fighting with him… or myself or you might just find yourself being… burned alive" he said
Mei realized that she had found herself Infront of a villain.
He began to light up a blue flame from his hand and say "c'mon kid talk for me, where are the dorms?"
Mei refused to talk. She remembered she hadn't yet taken off the belt with the hydraulic boosters… She shot them out lifting her far off the ground, pinning the guy down with all of her body weight plus more. She clanged onto the edge of a balcony and threw 3 flash grenades down onto the man, then crawled onto the apartment balcony.
Her adrenaline was rushing, but there was no time to sit and think; instead she propelled herself up to the roof and ran to the other side of the building. Then jumped off; and would let her hydraulic poles catch her. She called the cops immediately.
"H-hello? There was a man with freaky purple scars all over his face and he tried to kill me on main street. I'm pretty sure he's unconscious… h- have a good day…" Then hung up.
She continued to walk; disappointed her bike was long gone. Mei could bearly catch her breath but continued to run… and run… and run untill the sun was nearly down, and she came up upon her small home. She knocked on the door; with an aching throught and feet.
"MEI?!" her sister said as she stood at the door.
Mei couldn't muster up words in the moment but instead just fell forward into her arms.
"That bad? Did something happen…?" she sighed knowing that her sisters energy was never so low.
"MEI WHY ARE YOU HOME?! DID YOU GET EXPELLED?!" her mother shouted
Mei began to tear up then say "this is exactly why I DON'T come home." Mei began to get up when her sister grabbed her arm
"Please stay, Mei"
"I can't with the lunatic we call our mom… I tried my best…and just got attacked by a freaky villain let me have a break... okay? I didn't get kicked out of UA at all… I'm going back, I came to have a break… after all… mom isnt it right now… have a good night, sorry to bother you"
"Mei…" Her sister began to cry "can I come with you at least?"
Mei hesitated for a moment then said "I'm sorry… shoot me a text" Then walked out the door with a lump in her throught.
After a spacey walk back home, Mei threw off her belt and fell dead asleep without even putting the covers on.
