Mercenary and the Beauty Ch. 3
Sliding her pair of black jeans on, she looked at herself in the mirror, she liked what she saw. Her blonde hair down in waves, but if they insisted on her getting on a bike, she brought a hair clip to secure it. Checking her shirt, smiling it was a deep purple corset style, but it clasped around her neck, keeping it place. She didn't go heavy on the make-up, it never really was her thing, a little darker shadow to giving her a smokey eye look, but that's about it. The only thing she was debating on was either her knee-high boots, or booties. Staring at them for a minute, she went with the booties, these were broken in, and more comfortable.
With one last look, she headed out the door, locking it. Smiling as Bruce came to life. "Thank you, Barney," she said as she put the car in reverse. Enjoying the extra power, he added to her baby.
Rolling down the windows, she revved the engine and took off, enjoying the evening air around her, blasting her music, she headed towards the shop, which was becoming like a second home.
It didn't take long for her to get there, smiling as she could see them sitting around inside. Jumping out of the car, she walked in. Walking straight to Tool. It was just something that she's always done. Hugging him, "I'm even early." She teased.
The wolf calls, had her blushing, turning her eyes to them, "Shut up." She said to them. Looking at Tools, his face was stuck somewhere between happy, and irritated, "What?"
Letting out a sigh, "You're too hot for your own good." He said pulling her into a hug.
"Urm, sorry?" she said. "I can always go home. Sleep." She teased.
"Don't you dare." He said to her. Letting her go, he knew that if she didn't stick with them, she was going to get a lot of attention.
Nodding at him, her eyes found Toll staring at her, raising her eyebrow at him, she could have sworn she saw him blush at her. Nice. Looking around the room, she didn't see Lee. "Where's the Brit?" she asked.
Barney knew that she was hot but seeing her in clothes designed for that exact purpose, was a little unexpected. "He's getting Lacey." He said, not that he wanted her to be there.
Seeing his face, "And we don't like Lacey?" she asked. Trying to get a better idea of their faces.
Caesar shook his head, giving her a quick version of events that happened. "But all of sudden, now that she has a better idea of who he is, and what he can do, it's OK." It annoyed him, but it was his choice.
OK, so thunder bitch. Got it. "Well, she sounds awesome. Can't wait." She deadpanned. While she could get a small portion of her reasoning, he was constantly gone, never telling her who or what he was, which she also understood, but you don't fuck someone else if you're with someone. Rude.
She sat down, grabbing a beer, mentally deciding that she will only have one, since she was going to take Bruce, because if they all got drunk or worse found woman to take home, she didn't want to be stuck at the bar, waiting for an uber. As she finished it, she tossed it away, she found herself being pulled into a hug from Caesar.
Returning the hug, she found as she headed back to her spot, finding that Toll Road was staring at her, a part of her wanted to ask what the hell he was staring at, but she knew that he didn't like the attention on him too much.
After another hour or so, she found herself heading to Bruce, only to be stopped by Toll Road, "What? I'm going to follow." She said to him.
"Ride with me." His eyes never leaving hers. He needed her too.
Smiling at him, "And if you and the others find a young lady to bring home, how am I getting home?" she asked him.
Instantly pissed that she would think that he would do that to her, he stepped into her space, "That's not going to happen. So, get your ass on the bike." Taking her hand, he led her to his, handing her a helmet, getting on he looked at her, smirking at her face.
Shaking her head, why was that hot? She mentally asked herself. Jumping on the back, she wrapped her arms around his waist, "Ass on the bike." She chided.
Revving it to life, he followed behind Barney and Tool, with Yang and Caesar next to him, Gunner taking up the back, and his girl on his back. This was how it was supposed to be.
Enjoying the night, she held on tightly, it seemed as though they were enjoying themselves too, keeping her body loose as he went through the turns, it reminded her of riding a horse, which she hasn't had the opportunity to do since moving out here, that was something that she would need to remedy, but for now, she'd enjoy her night, cling to the guys so that other dudes backed off, and not punch Lacey in the face.
Sitting around the table, she watched as they laughed, drank, and were loud, but not obnoxiously so. But her eyes kept finding Lacey watching her. It was getting on her nerves. She promised that she would give the girl a chance, but the more she stared the less polite she was going to become. Trying to sus out what the staring was about. She locked eyes with the leggy brunette, "So, you come out with them often?" she asked.
Lacey wasn't sure about her, who was she, why was she here? Lee never mentioned her. Hoping that she wasn't after Lee. "No, my first time. You?" she asked.
Snorting, "Mine too. It's an experience. Right?"
Laughing, "Yea. It's different." Looking around she could see that they were busy talking about whatever, "Wanna go to the bar?" she asked.
"Hell yes." Standing up, she waited for Lacey to come around, silently making their way to the bar, "So, why are you staring at me? Do I look stupid or something?"
Feeling a little embarrassed, "No, not that. Just Lee hasn't mentioned much from his life, now that I have an idea what's going on, he never mentioned you. I'm just….." feeling weird about it.
"If I'm trying to snake your man?" she finished. Seeing her eyes dart up, giving her the answer, "I promise, I do adore Lee, but like only as a friend." Putting her hand on her shoulder, "I'm just a friend. Tool is my best friend, ironically. I just met the others recently." Seeing the bartender, "4 shots, Petron Silver. Double." Smirking at Lacey. "Can't let the boys have all the fun."
As he placed them in front of the girls, "So, we're going to do this rapid fire. You ready?" Waiting for the nod. "And go." Slamming them back, and finally taking a bite out of the lime. "Wooo. You good?" she asked wiping her mouth.
Feeling the burn down her throat, but it felt good. "Yea. Wow. It's been a while since I've done that."
They sat down, not knowing that the guys were watching them, not that they really cared, they were bonding.
Looking up, "So, do you know about me and Lee?" wondering if he spoke about it.
Nodding, "Yea. While I don't condone the cheating part, you should have waited, but I get it. They leave for God knows how long, and give very minimal information, but it looks like you got an understanding of what it is." Looking around, finding them stare them, shaking her head, she turned back to Lacey, "You good with it?"
Her eyes went wide, "You know?" she asked in a hush tone.
Shrugging her shoulders, "I had my speculations, but I don't talk about it, you know, not my business." Putting her hand on her shoulder, "You're not a horrible person, but I love them, most of them have become my very weird family, so don't do that again to Lee, if you can't handle it, just walk."
Nodding, "I will. Thanks for talking to me. It's nice to have someone to speak to about it," looking towards Lee and his friends, "They don't exactly scream emotional support."
Covering her mouth, "No. No, they do not." Laughing at the image of them trying to have girl talk.
A couple hours passed, and Amelia was feeling uneasy, like something was coming, or wrong. Carefully looking around, she could see that the guys were fine, OK, not that, slowly looking around, she found a guy staring at her, in a very predatory way. Shit. "Lacey, we need to move, now. Dude at the far end of the bar is staring at me like I'm a meal and hiding with all that muscle at the left seems like a good move."
Nodding, "He's coming over, now. What do we do?" she asked with a worried tone.
"Relax," grabbing an empty beer mug she held it tightly, "I got this. Happens more than you think." Feeling him behind her, she closed her eyes, waiting for it to start. His hand on her shoulder made her skin crawl. Turning slightly, trying to be polite first, "No touching. Please."
Wrapping his arm around her shoulder, he leaned in, "Oh you know you want me to touch you."
Sighing, why do men think this is a good move? "Buddy, you're drunk, get off."
Pulling her a little closer, "Oh, you can get me off anytime."
Rolling her eyes, she had enough of this, jumping off the chair, she swung the beer mug, connecting it to his face. "No means no asshole." She kicked him in the face as he held his nose.
Gunner indicated to the bar, having the guys turn and watch, as they stood up, they were surprised that she swung and hit him in the face with a beer mug.
Toll Road saw her kick the guy, wrapping his arms around her he picked up, "I think you got him." Impressed that she was able to hit him that hard. Gently placing her behind him, he looked at the dude, and back at Amelia, he was impressed.
Lacey wrapped her hands around her shoulders, "Holy Shit." She said out loud.
Amelia just shrugged, finding the guys surrounding her, but her eyes settling on Tool, who looked like a proud parent, "Like I told you the other day, I can handle my own shit. But it's nice to have you around." Realizing she just crushed a dude's face, "I probably should leave." She said to the group.
Barney handed the bartender a couple hundred bucks, it's not the first time someone from their group had to handle shit, and certainly wouldn't be the last. "See you, Cece."
Toll had his hand over hers, leading her back to the bike, revving the engine, he waited for her to wrap her hands around him, soon, the guys rode off back to the shop. His girl was feisty.
As they pulled in, she handed him the helmet, but before she could thank him, her body was pushed finding Lacey laughing and smiling, looking at her, then Lee, "You good?"
Nodding, "I think the tequila is hitting me. Sit with me?" she asked.
Giving Toll a smile, "Thanks for the ride kind, sir." Threading her hand threw hers, she led her inside to her spot, gently pushing on the chair, sitting on the arm. She was a little bummed, she was getting into her buzz before dickface ruined it. Eh, next time. She watched as the guys piled in, finding their spots, her eyes finding Tolls, smiling at him.
His eyes locked on hers, he couldn't help but feel drawn to her, but he wanted to know what caused all that at the bar, "So, why'd you lay that guy out?" he asked, knowing that the guys wanted to know too.
Shrugging, "He was rude, I told him to get his hands off, he said no, I helped him see reason." Looking at them, "Not the first time, unfortunately won't be the last." Chuckling as she felt Lacey hug onto her, "Some men hear no, and they hear take me I'm yours." Looking down at a very drunk and smiley Lacey, "You OK?"
"You're pretty." She said.
Letting out a sigh, "Thanks." Pulling her arm around her neck, "OK, let's go, bed for you." Leading her up the stairs, much to the amusement of the others. Once she had Lacey in the room that Tool let her use, she headed back down, finding them all looking at her. Her eyes finding Lee, "She's fine, laying down," sitting in her chair, "Oh, I think your girls bi curious, just throwing that out there." Grabbing a beer from the fridge, thinking that she tried really hard to kiss her.
Looking up at her, "Why do you say that?" Lee asked, wondering if he missed something.
Rolling her eyes, "She just tried to kiss me. A lot. So, hey lucky you." Looking around the room, she could see that their minds quickly going straight to the gutter, pfft, men.
Gunner looked at her, "So you didn't kiss her?" he asked, trying to tease her.
Smirking at him, "And have her fall for me, that wouldn't be fair to Lee." She teased. But as she sat there, she realized that she couldn't drive, and Lacey was now in her room, fuck.
They bullshitted for a couple more hours, but soon, Lee went up to Lacey, the guys headed home, leaving just Toll Road, and her.
"You know you don't have to stay down here all night; I'll be fine on the couch." She said to him.
Standing up, "I know," grabbing her hands, he led her through the garage, towards his apartment. Opening the door, he led her in, turning on the lamp. Watching her face.
Looking around, she could see that he had 1 chair, a small table, a tv stand, TV, a lamp, and giant bookcase filled with books. Naturally curious, she walked over to them, touching their spines, smiling seeing that he had a large collection of different types. Looking over shoulder, "How did you not tell me that you're a bookworm?" she asked him.
Stepping towards her, "Never thought to bring it up." Taking her hand, he shut off the lamp, and headed to his room, smiling at her face. It wasn't fear, it was trust. She trusted him. Reaching down he handed her a shirt, and pointed to the bathroom, "You can change in there," looking back at the bed, "I promise to be a perfect gentleman." He said, hoping that she wouldn't think that he was being a pig.
Gently taking the shirt, "I know." Heading to the bathroom, washing her face, and taking off her clothes, after she used the bathroom, she washed her hands. Seeing the mouthwash, swishing it around she spit it out, taking off her bra, she carefully folded her clothes, and placed them on the top of the toilet. Grabbing his shirt, snickering that it came down to her knees. Opening the door, she found him sitting on the bed waiting his turn, "All yours."
Touching her cheek as he walked past her. "Get comfortable." He said to her.
Her eyes followed him as he she shut the door, taking a moment to calm herself down, looking at the queen size bed, she crawled in and laid there, wondering what was happening. But, while she kind of hoped it would be something, she was pretty convinced that he only saw her as a friend. While it was disappointing, alpha men like him, really don't go for the nerdy girl types. But that wasn't anything new to her.
As he finished brushing his teeth, he removed his clothes, slipping on his basketball shorts, hoping that him sleeping without a shirt wouldn't be too uncomfortable for her. Stepping out into the room, he found her laying there, looking up at the ceiling waiting for him, it was a sight that he was hoping to see more of. Climbing in, this would be the first time in many years that he would allow someone to stay in the bed with him through out the night. Wanting to enjoy this moment, he wrapped his arms around her, pulling towards his chest, sighing in contentment as she laid her arm across his chest. "Goodnight Amelia."
Placing a soft kiss on his heart, "Night Toll." Snuggling deeper into this chest.
Waking up in the morning proved to be difficult for her, for the first time in many years, she never really wanted to leave, but she knew that Yang would be waiting for her. Carefully untangling herself from his grasp, smiling as she didn't wake him. Gently as she could she went to the bathroom, getting dressed, and washing her hands. Checking her phone, smiling that she still had a few minutes, to run to Bruce and grab some workout clothes. As she made her way through his home, she found a piece of paper, writing him a thank you note. Placing it by his coffee machine, she carefully opened the door, locking it behind her.
Rolling over, he found her spot empty, slowly opening his eyes, he could see that she put her pillow back where she found it. Sighing, he got up, and started his morning. After the bathroom, he made his way to get his morning coffee, smiling at the note she left him.
NOTE:
Thanks for being the perfect gentleman. That's our secret though.
Didn't want to wake you but had to meet Yang by 9.
Next time though, my bed yours is too hard.
Amelia.
Next time, he'd be perfectly OK with that.
