Chapter 1.5: Concepts and dungeon
You know miss goddess, I didn't wish for much, I mean I'm already living a second chance at life (mainly because of you) so I honestly have nothing to complain about. I'm barely 8 years old.
So... then why am I being chased by a horde of skeletons! armed with swords and were they using their own arms as clubs? While I was carrying nothing but a +15 wooden sword, on the other hand, the sword was very unbalanced for just a piece of wood, still, it's not worth much if it's about to break.

I won't comment on its good skill and questionable description. Mostly because I have 5 hits left and there are a lot of skeletons, I don't have time to think about the specs on this thing!
Uuff, how did we get into this situation anyway?
Ring! Ring! Rin-
I lazily turn off the alarm clock, which I'm pretty sure I turned off the night before, there's no reason for a kid to wake up early on a Saturday. Then I remember that I live in Japan now and sometimes curse why my 14-year-old self-dreamed of living here. Who goes to school on a Saturday, you damn slavers? You're not setting yourself up for the life of a corporate slave from now on! I won't be an employee; I'll grow up to be my own boss.
Funny how my thoughts strayed to being an entrepreneur just because I didn't want to get up early on a Saturday. I cut my train of thought, I had just woken up, it was too early for monologues and complaining.
It was when I tried to move that I realized why my alarm clock was on.
My sheets began to move abruptly as whatever was underneath desperately sought a hole through which to exit. Seconds later a clump of blonde hair filled my face and tickled me. Green eyes looked up at me sleepily.
"Good morning Sieg-chan, aaaww" Asia greeted me as she rested her head on my chest again.
"Good morning, Asia... no, wait! What are you doing here?"
I'm pretty sure when I went to sleep yesterday there was no one else in the room, I didn't go to the dream world until late checking on [System] So I would have noticed if Asia came into my room in the middle of the night.
"I came to wake you up, you looked very like sleeping, so I thought I might let you sleep a little longer then..." she didn't finish as she averted her gaze everywhere but my face.
"You laid down on the bed too" continue amused.
"it's very comfortable!" she protested pouting.
"it's okay, it's okay." I gave in patting her head. "Why would you come wake me up so early anyway...right?" when I saw the clock I almost jumped out of bed. "10:07am!"
"Yeap!"
I have to be careful how hard I sleep in the future, I don't like getting up early, but I resent getting up late. There's a sort of contradiction there, I don't like the feeling of wasting a large part of the morning.
"Breakfast is ready, though it should be cold by now." She said as she got out of bed.
"I'm sorry."
"No, it's okay. I'm partly to blame for falling asleep too hehehe" she smiled in apology, I reached over and put a hand on her head, I'm thankful she's shorter than me right now.
"you're an 8-year-old girl, no one is going to blame you for wanting to stay stuck in bed until you can't anymore" she looked at me confused. did I do something wrong?
"But, you're a kid too Sieg-chan" a, that.
"Right, anyway, come on, I have to wash my face and I'm starting to get hungry" with that we left my room and went down to the second floor. Where we saw Azazel.
Wearing an apron that said: the best potato in the world?
Making pancakes?
Is the leader of the fallen angels, the great Azazel making pancakes?
"But what the-"
"Oh, kids it's about time you woke up" he welcomed us with a smile. "Breakfast is ready" he said as he placed the plates on the table.
Asia and I walked in a daze to the dining room. It wasn't long before we were all at the table with a plate full of pancakes and syrup. However, neither my friend nor I had touched our breakfast. The image of the fallen Angel in our little minds had not yet been processed.
"What's the matter, don't you like them? In my opinion they were delicious to me." He asked confused.
We ingested our cold breakfast that morning.
"Lalalala" That was Asia humming a tune I'm sure I heard recently on tv. In her right hand she held a small flower she picked up on the way and her other hand was being grasped by Azazel. I was a little behind them.
To anyone else we looked like a small family of a father and his two sons out for a walk. Not that they were far from reality either. Being the Man's adopted son was fun, especially since the guy has no idea how to take care of kids our age and we took advantage of that on occasion. But I have seen how he makes sure we are each in our room at bedtime and when Asia can't sleep, he has stayed up late telling her stories and tales that may or may not be fantasies. Although he didn't know it, he was being a good father to us and appreciated that.
Anyway, a few hours ago I was checking my skill when I saw that in Crafting, I had marked the wooden sword as favorites. Thinking it was time for her to try out how she could use that section, I went to Asia and convinced her to get her head out of the books, and see the outside world. That little girl spent way too much time reading. So, between Asia's cuteness and my gentle words we convinced Azazel to take us to the park.
Now I was questioning whether it was wise for the Grigori Leader to stroll quietly through demon territory. But since he hadn't put up much of a protest, I guess it doesn't matter. Either that or he has some sort of spell to go unnoticed. I wouldn't be surprised.
Besides, we left because I didn't want to take the wood from any of his furniture, questions would arise that I don't think I could answer.
When we arrived at the park, we noticed something that was obvious at first. There were children, lots of children.
"ugh" Asia shuddered a little.
"There are too many people here."
"You guys were the ones who asked me you wanted to come here, now you're regretting it? We are in a park on a Sunday at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, it was obvious there would be a lot of kids here" Azazel looked at us amused as he gently pushed us in the back.
"I had forgotten" if there were a lot of people here, it will be harder to use my ability if causing suspicion.
"I was excited so that wasn't in my thoughts" Asia looked at the park with some trepidation.
I understood, this park was full of kids either younger, our age or older. Asia didn't have the best experience with kids her age at the orphanage so I don't think she was going to get along with them anytime soon. However, I was there for her as I am here now. I sighed and grabbed her hand that once held our "father's" hand.
"Come on, if whatever things happen don't forget I'm here with you" I smiled to reassure her and apparently it worked as she smiled back at me and stopped her nerves.
"okay"
"you two as close as ever" Azazel teased with a smile as he walked to a nearby bench. "you two have fun I'll be here reading let me know if you need anything" the embarrassed blush on my face had disappeared as I gave her an answer.
"Okay."
With that Asia and I went into the dungeon, but not that kind of dungeon.
I had forgotten how hard it was to interact with others, no matter if they were children or not. But it went well, we were playing hide and seek and this was the perfect opportunity to go into the small forest surrounding the park and see if I could find something to create a sword with.
I opened the system and searched:

When I selected the smart search option my vision turned green and black, the trees and their branches were illuminated by a yellow color while the rocks and leaves were red. I guess it was marking what I needed and what I didn't need.
I approached something that looked yellow near a tree and there I saw a branch that was a bit long. When I took it more options appeared?

Without wasting time, I selected craft wooden sword. There were more options and weapons, but I realized that aside from the basics I needed more materials for the others.

"Woooo!" I couldn't help but exclaim. this is awesome! are there achievements? does that mean I can raise my stats without leveling up? I know there are things I still don't know so I shouldn't be surprised when typical video game stuff pops up.
I hurriedly went to the inventory section and selected the sword. To anyone else it would look like I was simply grabbing something that wasn't there.
Holding it in my hand, my first creation was... disappointing. What I expected is obvious from a practice sword with only 5 damage. Not that it does any more.
Wait for it.
That's it, I can improve it!
I need the same materials to re-improve the created or store-bought weapon. So, I just need wood to redo this thing, right?

A skill?
Really? If I upgrade a weapon to the maximum, it gains an ability, isn't it just that the damage it gains when upgraded is the base damage multiplied by the upgrade level? Could this be more broken? And taking a better look, the base damage of this sword is higher than what I saw when I selected it to craft it, maybe that's from the type of wood it was made from.

Considering that enough time had passed, I walked out of my "hiding place" towards the park where the other children were gathered.
"Sieg! Where were you, I couldn't find you anywhere?" the boy whose turn it was to search asked me as he walked towards me.
"I can't tell you my hiding place, I'll hide there next round" I scratched my head and smiled amused.
"No fair" the boy pouted and resignedly walked towards the others.
Sweeping my eyes around, I saw Asia who stood a little further apart from the rest with a distant expression I hadn't seen since our time at the orphanage and walked towards her.
"hey" she looked towards me and her distant expression changed to happiness all too quickly.
"Sieg-chan! where were you, I tried to follow you to hide together, but you disappeared?"
"I'm sorry, I didn't notice" and I really didn't. Maybe I was a little too excited. "How about we go together as a team this time?"
"Mmm, okay!" she nodded her head excitedly while making a hand gesture I didn't recognize.

I didn't quite remember the rules of this game, I didn't know if it was the last or the first to be caught who got to search in the next round. But he was very sure of one thing, and that is that the afternoon just when the sun is illuminating everything is not a very good time to play this game.
Which is why the small safe forest around the park was a better place to hide than under a slide.
That kid didn't even enjoy the game.
Hiding behind a tree Asia and I constantly looked in the direction we came from, that was the most logical route because they might come looking for us.

A draft went through the back of my neck and I shivered involuntarily. How odd, according to my watch it was 3:30pm we were entering summer so there shouldn't be a breeze like that. I turned back and saw nothing. I let out a sigh that I didn't know was contained and grabbed my friend's hand.
"Come on" I had a bad feeling.
A feeling that increased when we couldn't move and I heard the somewhat feminine voice of [system] narrating a message that appeared in front of me.
wait, female?

wait, wait! I didn't even give confirmation! what requirements are you talking about and where is the dungeon anyway?
Mmm maybe I shouldn't have asked that.
The ground began to shake.
I turned back only to see the forest behind us begin to distort and ripple.
"Sieg-chan, I feel dizzy." Asia clung to me as she did her best to steady herself. o shit Asia!
"Why is Asia here, this shouldn't just affect me?" this didn't make sense.
No.
I overlooked it earlier and forgot.

Why the hell did [system] interpret that as me wanting to party with her? Why didn't she even notify me in the first place?

I felt everything spinning and with the last of my strength I pulled my friend to me.
Seconds later everything went black.

I woke up with the annoying [System] screen in my face. I waved my hand through and made the floating window disappear. As I sat up, I heard a soft noise next to me. I turned my head still a little disoriented and could see a blonde-haired girl.
Asia.
...
Asia!
All my senses came to as I got up to run to her.
"Asia, wake up!" I gently moved her through the panic that was slowly growing in me. Relief followed as she began to wake up.
"Sieg...-chan?" she slowly sat up. She gave a small yawn and looked around. "Where are we?" sighed as I hugged her tightly enough not to hurt her.
"Are you okay?"
"I am."
I reluctantly let go of her and looked around as my friend's earlier question came to mind.
We were in a dark hallway lit by some torches and rocky wide enough for five people to line up in a horizontal position and walk without bumping shoulders, further down was a wooden door. Quite anticlimactic in my opinion.
"This is... a dungeon, Asia" I replied as I helped her up.
"Dungeon, like daddy's games?" she's started saying daddy to the old man too fast. but I guess it kind of makes sense in a way.
"Yes, exactly"
"How are we here? We were playing hide and seek earlier. Papa will be very worried if we don't show up." And there it is, that question. I didn't know how to answer it so he would understand correctly.
"Mmm, it's my ability."
"Like my healing power?" she was still giving me a strange look.
"Yeah, something like that"
"Ooh, so god gave you a gift too" not exactly your god, but it works too.
"yeap"
"So, your power this? "When she said that she pointed to something in front of her, more like a small window.
Wait, window? how did I not notice that? I walked up to Asia and looked at what she was pointing at.

So, this was a party, the party condition was curious but convenient, a way for the two of us to gain experience without Asia having to fight was more than welcome. Apparently, the options could be changed, but for now I would not inquire further, it was fine as is.
I selected Asia's name and could see several more options.

So, I could do and know all this if I acquire a member to my party. Mmm Asia's stats aren't bad, except for the fact that she has twice as much mana as me, but I guess being the wielder of a holy gear it would make sense. The most curious thing was the class section and that her holy gear.
It wasn't until I opened the party section that I could see my class. [Gamer] I had no illusions. But Asia's class said: none and locked. I didn't know what that meant, but her sacred gear gained more of my attention.
It said it was level 1, apparently it could be leveled up, but how? by using it many times? if it was leveled up could it do many more things than it could originally do? or would it increase its efficiency?
A slight knock brought me out of my thoughts.
"Sieg-chan?"
"Ah, right. If my ability has anything to do with it." I replied to her previous question as I turned towards the door. "Behind us there's only a wall blocking the way beyond, so we can't get out any way. We'd better get going" this is a beginner's dungeon there won't be any problem." I'll explain everything as best I can on the way."
"ok" she nodded her head as she followed closely behind me.
I swallowed saliva and put my hand on the doorknob.
"Ok, here we go" and with those words we walked through it.
"it's...another hallway" Asia couldn't have described what she was seeing any better, nor could I.
It was just another hallway, a little brighter than the previous one. Although this one had a curve, I guess I suppose it would be too lazy to just do straight hallways one after the other.
We walked cautiously to the front, though.
Drip, drip, drip.
"You hear that?" Asia asked as she stopped.
"yes" I stopped too, looked back quickly and saw nothing, back to the front either. So, all that was left was.
Drip, Plop!
As our view went to the ceiling a blue slime fell from it.
"Oh, so it's just a Slime. The weakest monsters in any Rpg."

"it's very nice" of course you will find it nice its design looks like dragon Quest.
Anyway, that's not the problem here level: 20, what the hell, this isn't a beginner dungeon? Asia and I are only level:1 Why were a Slime of all things so strong?
The thing just stared at us with that smiling face as its gelatinous body went up and down.
"I think it doesn't want to hurt us Sieg-chan."
"it's its ploy to get us to approach it."
"Maybe it's scared?" I shook my head.
"I doubt it that could kill us" I said with certainty. I reached out my hand to the side and grabbed something that shouldn't be there.
My sword came out of my inventory.
The slime trembled more.
"Sieg-chan you're scaring him, why did you pull out a sword?" Asia looked at me reproachfully.
"Asia, he doesn't see his level. Level 20 and we 1 can't get careless that could kill us in one hit, besides this is a dungeon its job is to attack us" I replied as I motioned to the creature that for some reason was closer than before and looked at Asia with adoration?
What?
"Moou, Sieg-chan, it won't do anything to us, I can feel it. It's a cute and friendly creature" and with those words she approached the monster.
"No, wait Asia!" try to grab his hand, but I couldn't reach it,
"you're an adorable little thing, aren't you?" Asia was touching that thing and apparently liking it. For she was making faces of satisfaction.
I felt something deep inside me, but I ignored it as I sighed resignedly and moved closer to my friend.
"See, it's not dangerous" I looked at the slime who was looking at me with tender eyes.
Don't give me those eyes, you bastard.
"Well alright, that thing won't hurt, anyway, let's keep going, remember we have to get out of here as fast as possible".
"Okay, bye Slime-chan" she looked at me in disgust mode and turned to say goodbye to the slime.
Walking away from that thing 19 levels above us. No way that was a Slime.
Plop, plop, plop
I sighed regretfully; this can't be happening.
Asia and I turned to see the Slime behind us, Asia's rather.
"Slime-chan?"
"Great, now it's following us!"
The monster jumped with excitement as it looked at my partner. As if it was trying to tell her something.
"Sieg-chan look" Asia surprised pointed to a window that appeared in front of her.
[Slime wants to accompany you on your adventure.]
What?
The option didn't appear to me but to her.
"Do you want to be my friend?" she asked pointing to herself. Slime started jumping higher in confirmation. My friend turned to me with more sparkling eyes.
"So, I don't think-"
Wait.
This might be convenient.
"Yeah, why not," I shrugged.
"Great! Yeah, I'd like to be your friend" Asia smiled as she walked over to the Slime.
I could see another window appear in front of Asia.
[Congratulations Slime has joined you]
[do you want to name it]
"A name? Mmm, do you want a name?" the slime jumped back in. "then how about... Slimy" it can't get any worse.

Wait hour this was interesting. this is how you get a class; the requirements were to befriend a monster?
"Sieg-chan this is?" Asia looked at me confused.
"that's a class change Asia."
"Class change?"
Is that what you would like to major in from now on." I gave her the shortest and simplest answer.
"Mmm, does that mean I'll be able to make more friends like Slimy?
"Mmm, yeap"
"So."

This was unbelievable.
I blanked out for a few seconds and when I came back to myself, I saw Asia scorch the Slime now named Slimy. I guess if she's happy, what can I do.
"Then let's get going."
And with now with a new partner, we continued on our way.
Our tour of the dungeon was interesting to say the least.
Goblins, crazy bats, black wolves. All were brutally destroyed and consumed. by whom you ask?
Slimes.
Now I had a certain respect for these little monsters.
It turns out that on our way through the second floor where there was nothing but slimes, little Slimy had talked to every single slime he encountered who were apparently his friends and somehow convinced them to join Asia.
Seeing a seven-year-old girl with a group of 10 slimes surrounding her and following her was a frightening and funny image at the same time.
Asia couldn't have been happier.
When we went down to the second floor, we saw what would be our first enemies.
Goblins of level 20. I still didn't know why their levels were so high.
Little green goblins carrying nothing but clubs appeared all over the floor, I thought it was time to test my sword, but I couldn't have been more wrong.
They didn't stand a chance, the slimes wiped them out. And consequently, Asia and I moved up a level without doing anything at all.
This routine continued for the next 8 floors. I have to say it was a bit boring
Right now, our levels were like this:

We would be higher, but apparently the experience was also distributed between the slime that killed the monster and us. So, some monsters loyal to Asia leveled up on our run.
This girl was very unbalanced.
What have I done?
My ability has created a monster, but a tiny one.
When we got to level 15 Asia's class had gone from [Novice Tamer] to [Intermediate Tamer] her stats went up and her minion count expanded from 10 to 20. Something I hadn't mentioned before was the skill tree, we had made use of it a while back and I decided we would leave things untouched for the time being when I watched dumbfounded as a slime shot acid out of its mouth and watched the black wolf disintegrate in a second.
When we finish this, I will teach Asia how to play RPG games and let them handle things as they see fit.
Currently we were almost at the end of the ninth floor and if my knowledge of games of this style was not incorrect the end would be the tenth floor where the boss of the dungeon would be and if we defeated him, we could get out of here.
I admit I was a little scared. This is supposed to be a beginner's dungeon, but the levels the monsters had didn't match that word, if it wasn't for the minions of Asia we would be screwed.
The door leading to the tenth floor of the dungeon was in front of us.
"Ok, it's possible that this is the end of the dungeon and we can go back."
"Really? it's been fun playing with my new friends, but dad must be really worried" yeah, that's been bothering me for quite a while now. I didn't know how long we had been here and I couldn't find an excuse to tell Azazel when he found us. I had considered telling him the truth, but I wasn't sure yet.
I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get there.
"You're right," I sighed. "Come on let's see what this place has in store for us".
I opened what I hoped was the top floor and immediately knew something was wrong. First of all, the room was a little darker than the previous corridors, it was filled with a light fog and more importantly, Asia was nowhere to be seen. Asia was nowhere to be seen.
I panicked for a few seconds causing my [Player Calm] skill to activate. I remembered the 15 broken minions Asia has guarding her so I relaxed a bit. But I still needed to find her.
I walked around the place, carefully. I didn't have Slimy and his friends with me to destroy everything that posed a threat to their mistress. When I took the fifth step, the ground began to shake and out of it came a skeleton with a sword and shield.
[Skeleton soldier] [Champion].

This must be a joke.
The skeleton didn't hesitate for a second to run at me, his sword swung horizontally. It was too fast for me to dodge so I tried to block with my sword.
Clank!
[Sword durability has dropped 5%]
The collision created a small shockwave.
We stood there for a few seconds in a contest to see who was stronger. I already knew the answer. I was thrown backwards and crashed hard into the wall. I went a long way through the air. I felt disoriented for a few seconds. However, my skill [Player's Calm] brought me back to my senses. I struggled to my feet and spat the iron-flavored liquid out of my mouth.

I put on my guard. So did he.
We ran towards each other. This time it would be different.
As I expected I throw another horizontal slash, this time I slipped and attacked from the right, having a great sword it would be very difficult for him to get back into position.
That was my mistake.
Slash!
My sword connected with his bones but did not cause significant damage. I wasn't fast enough to dodge the next thing. He let go of his command and grabbed my head with one hand.
This time it wouldn't be the same. I used my sword and with all my strength I launched a slash towards his arm.
Crack!
"AARG!"
I slashed backwards and looked at the monster. It only had one arm now, there was no way it could lift that big sword with just one.
Or was there?
its eye sockets glowed bright red, and as it looked at me it let out a deafening roar!
AAAAARRGG! He grabbed his sword and ran towards me this time faster than before, not even giving me time to react.
"Waaagh!"
I felt an intense burning in my side and the air rushed out of my lungs as I crashed and rolled on the ground. My vision went blurry. If I stayed on the ground one more second, I was going to die. I struggled to my feet, but not before vomiting up some blood.
The blood slowly trickled down my head, blinding my vision. Still, I held my sword. I needed to be faster. I just needed one direct hit to his heart and it would be all over.
In what seemed to be berserker mode it leapt at me, but this time I was able to block it.
Clank! Clank! Clank!

The floor shook again and this time not just one skeleton soldier appeared, nor two.

So that's the current situation. I had managed to separate some of them and defeat them one by one, then two by two, but I had taken some good hits and the durability of my sword had gone way down. I had the option of creating another one, but it would be complete garbage and the transfer option would unlock it at level 30. Skeleton swords were also an option, but they weren't as strong and their durability was too low. Damn stingy skeleton soldier, weren't you supposed to be the boss, your stupid sword is half full!
My party with Asia had been dissolved since I entered the 10th floor and I still couldn't find her, this place was a damn labyrinth.
I turned into a hallway and ran until I reached a room bigger than the previous ones I had passed.
I was back to the beginning.
Skeleton soldiers were keeping up with me.
Oh, come on! This is my second chance at life and it will end this way. A beginner's dungeon on nightmare difficulty.
I turned to look at the 10 remaining skeletons, well. I only have 5 hits with this one and a few more with the ones in my inventory. I hope the goddess doesn't mind a little more paperwork.
With those words, I prepared to attack, the monsters too. And in after a tense moment, we pounced.
"Slimy!"
A fireball shot past me and incinerated the skeleton leading the charge, the others stopped and moved away from the flames.
Stunned I slowly turned behind me to see Asia on the back of a large white wolf and her group of monsters in front of her.
"A, A, Asia?"
"Sieg-Chan! At last, I find you What, what, what, what happened to you?" she jumped up and rushed at me in a tight hug. Then she started inspecting me and using her Sacred Gear.
Oh, right my clothes have cuts on them and I'm stained with my own blood. It was a bit of a disgusting sight; I'm surprised Asia wasn't upset.
"I'm fine, ho, how did you find me?"
"Lucky, when we didn't separate, I kept walking until I got to a huge room where lupus was." He said pointing to the Great white wolf that was helping to tear apart the skeleton soldiers.
Don't tell me that wolf is?
"Lupus?"
"Yes, when I found it, Lupus had these red letters and menacing aura. I thought she was an evil wolf so the slimes attacked her, and before I defeated her, I asked her if she wanted to be my friend, and then poof, after I healed her with my healing power, I asked her to help me find you. And that's how we got here" she finished happily.
When I looked at the wolf, I wished with all my heart that I hadn't done it.

"Don't worry old man, I'm perfectly fine?" tried to reassure him.
It didn't work.
"What do you mean you're fine!? haven't you seen yourself in a mirror? Who did this to you?" a pressure slowly began to be felt in the air.
"a skeleton?" I replied with a question with a shrug, her look clearly said it wasn't funny.
"Etto, papa "Asia tried to speak, but Azazel's gaze drew him back. I doubt he was doing it consciously; the man wouldn't forgive anyone who hurt his little princess as he said. Including himself. Seeing that he would not let it go and it was not convenient to stay here any longer. I sighed and took a deep breath.
"So, old man we need to talk" he just waggled an eyebrow still waiting for an answer. "What's the most recent RPG game you've played?
This is going to be a long conversation.

So I wanted to do this chapter that takes place shortly after chapter one to explain a few things about [System] as well as to take a look at the first dungeon that Sieg already completed in Asia.
